《A Fool's Wish》Chapter 6 Page 3 - Second chance

Three things has become clear for Akilah while traveling with the soldiers for the past two months. First thing is that the original plan of laying low hadn't worked out. Akilah found out that there were weird circumstances that led to the current situation. The soldiers that were out that day harassing those girls weren't even stationed there. That’s why Akilah had chosen that area in the first place, soldiers weren’t station out there. It’s odd that they all left their station to go out in the middle of the woods to harass some girls, it’s even more odd that they all managed to escape every single one of Akilah’s security measures. Yet they did and Adara and Akilah just happened to noticed them, an odd coincidence. The one soldier that had his older brother regain his memory through unknown ways wasn't even supposed to be stationed there, he was switched for unknown reasons, an odd coincidence. The fact that Adara for some unknown reason just felt like she needed to go out on that day, an odd coincidence. It was also by chance that the soldiers found Rae and Etila’s father, an odd coincidence. The fact that Captain Navin would offer Akilah to join his unit, and Sir Era the recruiter just happened to be traveling there and could approve of Akilah’s recruitment, an odd coincidence.
There were a lot of odd coincidences happening all around Akilah and she knew, deep inside, that these things were more than just coincidences. Something more was in play, something grander, it was like the universe itself was pulling her towards something, not Akilah though but Adara. It was like those dammed fated threads of life that Ladybug had warned her about before she came back, however she had ignored his warnings. Akilah could no longer ignore it though and instead of being a passive watcher she decided to become and active participant in fate's cruel plan.

The second thing was that Akilah had found out was how her spell was broken. Captain Navin had lied about being the brother of the soldier who has regained his memory. In actuality the soldiers brother was a high ranking officer and a member of the kings court. The kings court composed of five high ranking officers that were seeing as the King's second in charge. Each one of them had gotten a special amulet from the king under the guides of it being a protective amulet. And he had used his amulet on his brother in order for him to partially regain his memories.
The last thing that became clear to Akilah was just how much she had enjoyed this expedition. She had originally planned to fast forward the expedition two months pass, so that she didn't have to go through with it. However, she had found herself actually enjoying the expedition, as a reminded her of her past life as Ladybugs henchman. Akilah had missed going out on missions and stakeouts and simply fighting and beating up people. As much as Akilah had loved living with Adara for these past few years she had also never truly felt alive. She could never recreate the thrill she felt well going on rag tag missions that ladybug had assigned to her.
As much as she hated to admit to herself but the calmness and peace that she so desperately seeked for was no longer something that could suffice her. Akilah wasn’t alone in feeling this way, she had noticed this on Adara as well. Watching her trapped in the house day in and day out, with minimal contact to the outside world, not ever being able to create concrete relationships and always looking over their shoulders had become a tiring matter. She knew that they couldn't keep living like this, for this was not living it was merely existing.

Therefore Akilah decided to change her plans, she wasn't going to hide away with Adara anymore. Akilah had decided that in order for her to be happy Adara needed to be happy. Therefore they should live in a big city, in a big house, surrounded by people, just like Adara wanted. Then maybe Adara would find someone, anyone, that she like and could get married to and have the life she always wanted. That way Akilah would be ahead of destiny, what difference would it make if the life threads kept pulling them together if Adara was already happily married to somebody else. While Adara lived her life and found her happiness and joy in life. Akilah would do the same, however for her it was a bit more different.
Akilah’s happiness lied in getting her revenge. She had planned on extracting her revenge on Era, that was already set in stone. What she needed was Dogn and the only way she could get to him was through the king. Therefore she decided to put on this duel with Era. Although it was an impulse decision, she intentionally wanted to embarrass and humiliate him the way Adara had been in the past. However now she also planned on using this as an opportunity to get a favor from the king. Akilah knows that once she beats Era in the duel the king would be impressed, he was always someone that would look at raw talented rather than background and rank, even in the past. Hence why Akilah where is certain that he would offer her a position in his elite unit, which she planned on turning down that offer in order to get information on Dogn.
Unlike Akilah’s other plans this one wasn't bulletproof; anything could go wrong at this slightest of chance. But that was also what she wanted. Akilah knew that she could fix any small mishaps that happens along the way, but that’s not what she wanted. She wanted to feel the thrill of going once again on a mission and the adrenaline rush in not knowing if her plan works. She hated herself for it but also knew that this had now become a part of her nature, she had realized that, and there’s no going back now. She hadn’t slaved away for seven years for her to just let this second chance of life pass her by, she was planning on living her life to her heart's content.

Sanctuary
A girl searching for someone. A boy who lost his memories. A man from another world. A woman trying to prove her worth. Follow along as this unlikely group of people join forces to help each other accomplish their own goals in this non-epic fantasy adventure. Fair Warning: This fiction contains many of the well-known light novel tropes, though I try to give them my own spin. If you’re tired of them by now, you might want to keep away. There are no demon lords however, nor any end-of-the-world cataclysm situation that only the MC can solve. This story is more about different people coming together and helping each other out to achieve their own goals and objectives.
