After they had arrived home Akilah put a sleeping spell on Rae, so that she and Adara could discussion their current predicament.

“What are you going to do Aki?” Adara asked after they had sat quietly for a while.

Akilah sighed and looked at Adara then at the door of the bedroom Rae was sleeping in “I don’t know…But I don’t really have that many options” she replied.

“I either, let their father, an innocent man, die. Or I go and fight those stupid soldiers”

“But Aki that’s too dangerous, you-”

“This isn’t just about helping out their father” Akilah continued “I’m no saint by far, I’m not just doing this out of the kindness of my heart. I also wanna know who and how they managed to break my spell.”

Adara grew anxious, this is the first time she’s seen Akilah act so dangerously without any concern for her own health.

“Aki I-” Just as Adara was about to talk Akilah interrupted

“I’m gonna go” Akilah said and looked back at Adara “I’m gonna go to the soldier and confess that it was me”

“But Aki that’s dangerous, all this time we been hiding”

“I know” Akilah interrupted again “Which is why I said we should be careful, but that didn’t work out, now did it?” she said rhetorically.

Her words, deliberately or not piercing through Adara with the guilty that she was the catalyst for this situation.

Akilah sighed again “I’m not blaming you, I’m equally responsible for this. So now I’m gonna fix this”

“Wait what about me? I want to help too!” Adara exclaimed.

“You are by staying here and looking after Rae”

“But Aki-”

“No buts Adara!” she said frustrated “If you wanna help then that’s what I’m asking of you. Do you expect me to just allow you to walk up to the soldiers with me??”

Akilah had by now grown increasingly frustrated by this conversation, she got up and walked towards their front door

“I didn’t do all of this just for you to get spotted by his soldiers again” Akilah opened the door and before she walked out, she looked back at Adara.

Adara looked sad but nodded in agreement

“Okay but please stay safe Aki”

“Yes, you too sis” Akilah said and headed out.
