《A Fool's Wish》Chapter 2 Page 2 - The Journey

Thoughts of her future in the underworld scrambled around in her head. Akilah had developed a dislike for that place and would often negotiate with Ladybug not to send her on missions there. Of course, Ladybug would always fuss about it but in the end, he would give in and lessen the missions there.
That was something that Akilah had noticed, no matter how infuriating or sometimes downright cruel some of Ladybugs missions were, he would always listen to her and try to make things easier for her. If a mission he had handed out to her was especially difficult, he made sure to prepare her fully before and even sent shadow puppets to accompany her. She had learned to differentiate between work Ladybug and regular Ladybug. He wasn’t as evil and diabolical as she had originally thought that he was from their first impression.
In the beginning of her 'training journey' as he would like to call it, his favorite phrase was 'This isn't just work, it's your training journey to become a power and well-rounded magician'. He would accompany her on her missions in the beginning and then he gradually let her go on missions along.
After that he would occasionally visits during her missions and he would be joking around with her. He knew to show up whenever she was overwhelmed by a mission and needed a little break. This might have been for his own amusement, but it also helped Akilah greatly.
However the killings were extremely difficult to get adjusted to, the first few months and even year was pure hell, she was shaking and quivering every time she hurt someone. Eventually she overcame it, it became less of a burdensome mission and more of a way for her to learn to control her powers on other people.

Eventually it even turned into her testing and training her powers on the people in her missions. That idea had repulsed Akilah when Ladybug first suggests it, but she grew accustomed to it. She saw herself as an artist, killing as her art and her magical powers was her brush. Every brushstroke is different same goes for every spell she had to learn to perfect her art.
The new Akilah was nothing like the old Akilah that first entered into the contract, all of those years ago. Not even her appearance was the same as she had grown up during those years. She has slowly and painful changed turned into a completely different person, being linked with the old Akilah in name only.
“It has been a hell, but at least it was an informative hell.” Akilah said out load as she felt Ladybug’s presence appear in the room.
“Indeed soon you will go back to the life that you once lived, peaceful and calm.” Ladybug said “I wonder though...Will that life be enough?? Will it make you happy Akilah?”

Jane Walker is trouble. In a world where everyone is powerful, Jane stands alone and apart, hated for her ability to copy abilities and atrocities far beyond her control. But fate is a fickle friend, and a chance encounter soon finds Jane hurtling towards her lifelong dream - or prejudice, humiliation and a violent, painful death. Unbeknownst to them, Matt and Jane’s paths are inextricably intertwined, and as each struggles to find their place an unseen force will draw them ever forward – closer and closer to a secret whose existence threatens not just their lives, but the fate of the entire world. A loving homage to and twist on the superhero genre, Superworld is a fun, subversive story about identity, empathy, connection and courage which has been called “very entertaining and creative” and “an absolute pleasure” by readers, and "completely unreadable" by the author's blind grandfather.

Unless they do something drastic … But when a daring plan to unseat the Tyrant King goes awry, Roark finds himself on the run through an interdimensional portal, which strands him in a very unexpected location: an ultra-immersive, fantasy video game called Hearthworld. He can’t log out, his magic is on the fritz, and worst of all, he’s not even human. Now, he’s a low-class, run-of-the-mil Dungeon monster. Some disgusting, blue-skinned creature called a Troll. At least there’s one small silver lining—Roark managed the grab a powerful magic artifact on his way through the portal, and with it he might just be able to save the world after all. Unless, of course, the Tyrant King gets to him first …Hey everyone, so as most of you know, I write books for a living, and I just put this title up on Amazon (and enrolled it in KU). Because KU requires exclusivity as part of their terms of service, I have had to pull the majority of the content from this site. I left the full novel up for as long as possible, so I hope everyone got a chance to read it. If you haven't had a chance to read it in its entirety (sorry!) you can pick it up on Amazon. Thanks again for coming on this journey with me, and I so hope you enjoyed it. The book will be out on Tuesday July 24th. Best, James Hunter
