“Eh? Mother Elizabeth?” I was flabbergasted. Never in my wildest dream had I thought of her as my tutor.

“Yeah, I will be your tutor from now on,” said Elizabeth with body language saying ‘she expected my surprise’.

Elizabeth went over to the table to select the book from the variety of subjects. I sat in my seat while she selected the book.

“Yes, let’s start the lesson, so Lex, which 2 things do you think makes a king the ‘king’?” Elizabeth, after assisting and selecting the book, asks as she packs the book close.

“Umm…….. People of the nation….. I guess,” I dubiously answered her question.

“Yeah, people of the kingdom…… and the other one?” Elizabeth tried to get an answer as she stressed the second thing.

“Maybe……… the nobles of the country,” I whispered.

“Boo! That’s the wrong answer,” said Elizabeth dramatically, maybe trying to elevate me.

“It’s the nation itself, the whole territory. The people and the territory make a king the ‘king’” Elizabeth explained along with hand movements which can hardly be understood.

“Today’s topic is on that, the geography of the nation. As a royal, noble and prince you must know the geography of the nation, the continent and the world so……….”

I will omit little details on the internal complex distribution of territory……. The world of Alteria is spherical and has approximately twice the earth’s radius. As far as I remember, the earth had a radius of 6400km whereas Alteria has around 12000km of radius. And presumably, only planet revolving around the star. There is no concrete proof of it yet, but a great sage in the past gave his theory and is still believed.

The landmass of Alteria is distributed in four continents and a few islands. The landmass is distributed like a rhombus with the continents around the vertices.

The continent Atela, the largest continent, is on the right upper corner of the rhombus, with many nations, including the Permarre kingdom, located on it.

The continent Ewera, the continent on the lower right corner. The continent itself is not so large, but it’s known for the Yggdrasil, the world tree, and the majority of elves and dark elves live there. Few elves are also there in the Permarre kingdom, but there seems to be an elven kingdom itself.

The continent Elone, the one on the upper left corner, is the second-largest continent, where a large population of dwarfs are present, though I still haven’t seen them. Dwarfs are known for their craft and are quite dexterous in their hands. Their kind can be seen on every continent as they are used to travelling everywhere for their craft.

The Dwarf Kingdom is also situated there, my bracelet was crafted by the dwarf king of the kingdom. Oh! Orichalcum, fantasy metal Orichalcum, its smithing and moulding is a secret art of the dwarf royal family, many tried to replicate it in the past but failed, some also tried to steal, there were also a few times war had been declared to obtain it.

The continent Obrios, the lower left of the rhombus is the smallest continent, where human kingdoms are present, though human kingdoms are present on every continent, here they have eradicated the other races to a large extent, there are many non-human slaves here treated like trash….. Yeah, things are bad there……

The history seems to be that after the fall of angels in the great racial war and the great invasion, humans invaded this continent which used to be a stronghold of angels.

In the past, the quad was established, representing the stronghold of each continent. Demons from Atela, elves of Ewera, dwarfs from Elone and angels from Obrios. The four made up the quad and a meeting would be held after every 10 years. The members would change if there is a change in the power balance on the continent.

But after the wars, the demons and angels fell from their position on the quad and humans took the spot; the elves couldn’t maintain their position because of their low numbers. The dwarves joined the forces with beastmen to withstand the pressure from the humans. The elves also had to combine with the dark elves to safeguard the world tree and a federation was formed.

Now let’s go a bit deeper, kingdom Permarre on the continent Atela, is a maritime nation situated on the western part of the continent with the coastal region on the west side of the kingdom, the Bellard empire in the east, the Teza federation and Merchant union at north and south border.

Teza federation is a coalition of many small nations and clans, an election is held among the coalition for the president's position of the Teza federation.

The merchant union is an autonomous zone, where the laws are moulded for the best interest of the trade. Many autonomous cities and regions form the union. The mayor sits at the top and one representative is selected from the council of 12 members to lead the union. The members are not constant, they can be replaced by some procedure.

To the east is the Bellard empire……. Haah….. It’s the human supremacy kingdom with the motive of unifying the continent. They are going on with their pride that they had once unified the continent….. Let me phrase it again: they had come close to unifying the continent. It all happened after the Great Invasion, but it’s a story for another time.

Well, they seem to have become unexpectedly strong 10 years ago and have conquered some nations in the period of 10 years.

Oh! Yeah, I remembered something mother Elizabeth taught. In the Teza federation, many non-human races are also the members of the association and from the decided council members election is held for the president's post, it’s a form of quasi-democracy.

The human supremacy nation of the Bellard empire has sour relations with both the Teza federation and the Permarre kingdom.
