《Moonlit Beginning》Chapter 9: After 1 Year part 1

1 Year later…………….
It’s been 1 year since my birth or should I say rebirth?..... But anyway there were many difficulties but finally I could crawl around if not so walking.
I would frequently try to escape from the jail (my room) to explore the castle. I don’t know how, but every time, either my mother or Mia would easily detect me.
I had a doubt that they had such a skill, but their status revealed nothing new…….. How mysterious!
Through rigorous hard work, I somehow learned to read letters not so difficult. I would have my mother read me a book every day before my nap. I would make her repeat twice or thrice if I don’t understand how to pronounce.
Eh? You ask why I am so desperate to read? Yeah….. It’s because of magic! Magic!! Yeah few months ago when I could break free of the jail (room), I came across a room running away from the jailer (mother/Mia)
“young masterrrrrr” Mia’s voice became closer. I reflexively entered the room, thinking nothing.
What greeted me was a very messy and dirty room with things scattered here and there, a table with few books sacked upon each other and few tools on it though I can’t tell clearly as the table is obviously taller than me, a furnace for blacksmithing, the furnace seems to be used recently as it’s still emitting heat.
To my left is a long horizontal table which appears to be an experiment table with what appears to be a good deal of unfinished equipment. at minor distant in front of me is a rack with many books and papers stacked in it
Ewwww the room is so dirty, I crawled further inside the room; the floor is pretty messy with rough papers, few books oh! There’s also the blacksmithing hammer on the floor.

How can one find things in here!? This room seems like a typical workshop of a tool creator or someone like that, I guess.
I went further deeper into the room while pushing my way through a bunch of things scattered on the floor. I excitedly moved my head left and right to get a better view of an unusual place after my reincarnation.
The world appears very different from a baby’s perspective. Everything appears large and intimidating. It’s a unique experience for me. We went off topic a bit there……..
Oh! There’s also a trunk on the side of the room. It went past my notice at first. It’s quite a beautiful trunk with a nice floral design and a bright color combination. I wonder what does it contain?.........
After a few moments of looking here and there, I unknowingly stepped on some slimy substance. I stopped and slowly looked down slowly to see what I have stepped on.
What came into view is a plate with foul-smelling, half eaten rotten, slimy substance with flies flying over it.
“Ewwwwwww” I retracted from my position because of the smell and I unknowingly hit the table. The books on the table started wobbling and ultimately they fell upon me.
Ou-Ouch! They are so heavy, the books on the table were as thick as a phone directory, the book cover is also quite hard, I don’t know the material it comprises; I seem to be lucky to come out uninjured from it, a normal baby already would have cried. I am anything but normal.
A book from before fell right in front of my legs, though I was a bit scared with the noise it made from its fall, the book looked quite expensive for its time with beautiful decoration and some unknown patterns were drawn on it, patterns aside I still can’t read what’s written on it.

Other fallen books also had different patterns and diagrams depicted on it, though I don’t understand a bit of it but the books had the patterns showing resemblance to wind, water, earth, fire in some parts still the diagrams remains a complete mystery with few polygons drawn here and there.
I was turning the pages of the book with earth resembling patterns; it was a book with no pictures, only description which I still can’t read and suddenly snatched away by a hand which emerged from behind.
“Young master, why are you here!? Asked Mia while dusting the book
I was taken aback by the shock; I didn’t even hear opening of the door or realize how or when she arrived at my back without me noticing? She is quite terrifying maid.
“I and lady Olivia have been searching for you everywhere and here you are in lady Olivia’s workshop reading a magic guide?” Mia said with slight irritation and anger mixed with Ah! She pouted, though I would have preferred a young girl better, but she is a beauty herself so I don’t mind it……
It’s not time for that!! She said something about it being mother’s workshop, right? I remember her having unique skill [magic tool crafting] in her status slot when I looked into her status a few months after reincarnation.
Th-This greatly differs from my image of her, her being kind, loving, a praiseworthy queen and a few more others, but I didn’t have an image of her being untidy, unhygienic. I wonder what that rotten thing on the plate is?...... I probably…… don’t want an answer……
I wonder if a scientist mode activate in her or something like that, might I also be able to craft in future? Though the future seems bleak as I don’t have the skill, I might be able to learn it in future but it’s still an uncertainty.
While in deep thought, Mia carried me in her arms and dusted me a little. She then further complained.
“Young master, what if that book fell on you!? What if something had happened to you in that book fall!? The magic guide is quite heavy. What if it had hit your head!? I and lady Olivia might not be able to live if something had happened to you.” Mia said in an angry tone with tears visible in her eyes.
Though I started feeling guilty for making her in verge of tears, I was also slightly freaked out for making her cry as it was my first time; I don’t remember whether I was what you call popular with opposite gender or not, but it definitely was my first time in this world.
I pointed at the book on the ground as a change of subject, as I can’t think of any other thing in this situation. The plan became a success when Mia’s concentration was diverted to the book with a wind like pattern on the floor.
“This?” Mia asked while bending to lift the book on the floor
“Intermediate wind magic guide? Umm…. Young master, do you want to see wind magic?” she misunderstood my intention most beneficial to me, after reincarnating in this world inhibited with fantasy creatures, having concept like status and a form of energy absent in my previous world ‘magic’ only thing left for me to experience after reincarnation to my new self is magic.
