Chapter 40 The Fart Market!
Bright and early the next day, Babe came over to Selene’s temporary residence. Her visit involved showing Selene around the Fahtier Rebels headquarters. Upon entering Selene’s room, Babe was frightened by the overgrown bird that was relaxing in bed while watching TV. She almost tipped over a piece of furniture.
“Don’t be alarmed, Babe. This is Jackal. Remember the pet that I informed you about.”
“You mean that fat chicken is the pet you have Pac retrieved for you?” Babe was incredulous for a moment. “I thought it would be more of a dog or a cat. I never imagined it would be this thing. How is it so big? Did you feed it steroids while it was growing up?”
“Squawk!” Jackal felt offended by what Babe said. To prove it wasn’t a fat chicken, Jackal used the remote to turn off the TV, got up from the bed, went in front of Babe then spread its colourful train of feathers that was unique to imperial peacocks. [Squawk! Squawk!]
“Stop showing off Jackal. We know that you’re beautiful.” Selene patted Jackal’s head then gave her gaze back to Babe. “What brings you here so early, Babe?”
“Oh, I came to get you inaugurated as promised. First thing first before we go to the training camp, I’ll get you familiar with our fundamental structures. Follow me.”
“Wait, can I bring my pet along.”
Hearing this question, Babe eyed Jackal for a while then answered. “As long as it doesn’t cause any trouble.”
“Alright, you heard her. Come along Jackal.” [Squawk! Squawk!] Jackal followed closely behind Selene.
The first place Babe brought Selene was a Fart Market that sold and bought Fahtier relatable products. The Fart Market was off-limit to outsiders. It was a facility annexed to the mansion inside of the protected compound.

“What is this place?” Selene was at a loss to the multiple products being traded around her. She spotted a shelf of strange canisters, unknown gadgets coupled with a mixture of people tending to various tasks. Babe let her privy of a few things.
“Those people you see over there are what us rebels like to call Beverage Makers. Base on the composite of your flatus, they can create evolved beverages to recharge or enhance your Fahtier abilities. If you manage to become one of us you will find this place really addictive.”
“And why is that?” Selene asked.
“Come along, I’ll show you.” Babe took Selene to another stand, showing off the rare canisters that contained various powered farts from gifted individuals. “You don’t have to depend solely on the use of your gifted farts. With these unique canisters, you can make use of other basic Fahtier abilities.”
Babe explained to Selene the essential role of Fart Collectors and about the major role that they played in aiding their organisation’s growth and sustainability. Other vendors’ categories and purpose were introduced along the tour. Other than the Beverage Makers and Fart Collectors, there were Gear Tweakers, Butt Modifiers, also Breath Adjusters.
Gear Tweakers did exactly what the name suggested. They were responsible for repairing existing gadgets or creating brand new ones. The Butt Modifiers’ purpose focused on the modification of gifted rumps. By tweaking certain butthole triggers through advance surgery, they could amplify a Fahtier potential. As for the Breath Adjusters, they implemented certain internal augmentation to have a Fahtier make use of their potential with powerful breaths.
Selene was simply amazed by what she was learning. Never in her minimal life did she thought that she would get to meet such rare and intriguing people. Jackal who was sauntering behind them was just as amazed as its owner.

“I think this much is enough to get you familiar. We will definitely come back some other time.” Finishing the tour of the Fart Market place, Babe finally decided to show Selene the way to the Fahtier training camp.
Liberal Vista was surrounded by other smaller islands, it was an archipelago of sorts. One of these islands was where Fahtiers practice to own their abilities. Their farts could be often destructive which was why Pomelo Epoch had them practised all the way there away from harming the residents of the main island.
They travelled by jeep across a renovating bridge to get to the training camp. There was a vast compound situated on the mini island. Many of its structures displayed broken parts and exploded frameworks; old busses and other forms of mechanical transport were toppled all over the place. This was clearly the after effect of intense Fahtier training.
“We’ve arrived.” The vehicle carrying Babe, Selene and Jackal pulled over by a lavish complex which excelled in comparison to the previous abysmal scenery. “This is the camp main facility. Here is where you will learn how to better control and execute your gifted farts. Get out.”
Selene felt anxious as she stepped out of the vehicle. “I’ve experienced this sensation once before when I first entered middle-school. It is kinda weird.”
“Don’t feel too nervous. You’re not the only one racking in the same boat.”
“Huh, what do you mean by that Babe?”
“You will find out for yourself. Come on let’s enter.”
[Squawk!] Jackal hopped off the jeep, landing beside his big sister. He followed them into the facility. Babe brought them to an open yard around back where Selene discovered more people. There wasn’t a lot of human presence, about 16 of them Selene surmised at first glance. Pac and Nigel were also among them.
“Huh?” When Babe entered with Selene, everyone’s eyes were immediately directed on them, especially the imposing presence of Jackal.
“Babe, what took you so damn long to deliver that snobby princess?” Viv, the bulky lady who was actually one of the instructors gave a wave to Babe upon seeing her come in.
“Sorry, Viv. I was getting her familiarized with the Fart Market place.”
“You lucky you showed up in time. I was about to begin the lesson.” Viv gave her austere gaze to Selene. “Hey, toothpick now that you are here, get in line with the others.” She gestured to a horizontal line up of 7 women. “Wait, is that fat peacock yours?”
“He is. Do you have a problem with that?”
“If I have a problem?” Viv stared at Selene seriously then at Jackal. “No, I don’t have a problem with your bloated bird just as long as it stays out of my way. If it gets on my nerve then I will make dinner out of it.”
[Squawk!] Jackal glared at Viv angrily. Not wanting to end up as cock food, he dove behind Selene, moreover, it flapped its massive wings uniformly until it flew up to a wall that surrounded the complex. From there it glided onto a thick tree branch.
Seeing this brought a smile to Pac’s face who was watching the spectacle from atop the concrete fence. “There is something about that damn bird that makes me want to laugh whenever I see it.”
“And what might that be?” Nigel asked; waiting for an answer that didn’t come.

8 284Moonshot
Gregarious businessman Evin Tumble is fascinated by the sudden and inexplicable appearance of a low-orbiting moon. Specifically, he's interested in shooting it down with a giant cannon. The moon is only about eight miles overhead, but it's high enough and quick enough that nobody can reach it by balloon or airship. He hires our protagonists: taciturn Iseult Morrin, cheerful Sean Whelan, and nervous Íde Ceallaigh, to help him with his obsession. As our heroes are dispersed across the continent to perform tasks for Tumble, and the moon-hunt draws closer, they become increasingly suspicious of their benefactor's motives and true nature. Moonshot is a story centred around struggling with confidence, the difficulty of being an immigrant, and the duality of truth, all clad in the trappings of an urban fantasy. It is character-driven, from the heart, and based on tropes and ideas that are missing from a lot of contemporary fantasy (a push beyond the flawless-yet-somehow-still-needs-rescuing-by-an-oafish-man heroine trope, a touch of cosmic magic based on the shared geometries of Celtic and Arab art).
8 116They never called, yet he is here (censored edition)
Introduction:Not every world needs a Summoned Hero, even if it is possible to summon one. No, really! Everywhere, no matter the time, there are always good people who can use glory, power and personal harem themselves. And the one who was summoned? He is just a resource, nothing more… Translation of the original novel by Avada KadavraThe uncensored version is available here.Authors notes:This is just my take on the whole Hero Summoning thing, where a hero happened to survive.Fatal mistake, an error in a well-oiled mechanism that lasted for generations, gave a Hero a tiny chance to decide his own fate. After all, bad guys never expect a Hero to come, yet, the fucker still does.Partially inspired by the series “You summoned the wrong one” by Aitbaev T.A. who was in turn inspired by “Rise of the Shield Hero”.I have to warn you, Aibaev’s work of fiction is pretty out of ordinary, it makes one breath fire, cry until tears turn to blood and laugh to unconsciousness in equal measure.
