Chapter 32 Father’s Visit
At Thorn Passion Penitentiary Selene was being contained inside a tight space on the third floor. Her cell was rife with filth and excited flies. As for herself, a lot of bruises decorated her nasty body, meaning she was beaten to a bloody pulp by the security guards. Moreover, Selene’s body smelt as if she hadn’t taken a shower in ages. Her skin was chapped, her hair was dry and her eyes lacked all moisture due to her endless crying. To summarize, she was in very terrible condition.
[Step! Step!] Two male prison guards came by Selene’s cell with pale of wetness in their grasp. After unlocking her cell, they doused Selene with buckets of water then said boisterously: “Wakey-wakey, terrorist bitch!”
[Spalsh!] “Awe!” Selene gave a soft cry then slowly lift her head from the floor, staring back at the guards with fury in her eyes.
“This bitch! Who do you think you are glaring at? Get your smelly ass up!” The guards combined their strength and dragged Selene to her feet. They handled her frail complex with such rough vigour, they almost broke her to pieces. “Damn! You smell like shit. Go clean yourself up. They are visitors waiting to see you.”
The guards escorted Selene to the bathhouse on the lower floors. Due to that area being looked after by female officers, the two male guards weren’t allowed to follow Selene into the bathhouse even though they desperately wanted to. Thus they handed her over to the women in charge then waited outside the bathhouse premises.
After Selene had finished cleansing her fetid flesh, she donned a clean set of clothing then stepped out of the bathhouse. The male guards who were waiting for her outside led her to the visitor’s room where officer Hizen and Lieutenant Fain was waiting.

[Thud! Thud!] “We’ve brought the prisoner as you’ve asked, ma’am.” Selene was forced to sit behind a protective layer of glass couple feet away from where officer Hizen and Lieutenant Fain were.
“Thanks. You may wait outside.” After instructing the male guards to give them some privacy, Lieutenant Fain gave her undivided attention to Selene who resembled a sacred wet pussycat. “Looks like being locked up doesn’t suit a rich princess such as yourself. Don’t you think it is time for you to come clean? If you do I may be inclined to wager your death penalty.”
“Death penalty?” Selene’s eyes regained some vigour of despair after hearing this. She pressed her palm against the glass roughly then confessed. “I told you guys before. I had nothing to do with that terror attack! Why am I getting the death penalty for crimes I did not commit? Is our justice system this incompetent?”
“Hush up you stinking brat! Who are you calling incompetent? The nerve of you…” Officer Hizen lashed out at Selene with a brusque tongue then spared a glance to Lieutenant Fain. “Do you believe she is telling the truth?”
“Whether she really doesn’t know anything don't matter at this point. Her fate has already been sealed by the higher-ups. I was hoping to squeeze some valuable info from her before her death but it seems that I was expecting too much cooperation from a detestable criminal. With her death, the angry civilians from Upaya will feel partially satisfied. Also, it will increase their dependency on the system. In a way, this terror attack has given the FPD more leniency to act in prohibited areas. Soon we will be able to gain jurisdiction over that detestable fart paradise island.”
“Are you perhaps talking about Liberal Vista?”

“Indeed. Hizen Let’s go. No need to waste our time on an uncooperative criminal.” Lieutenant Fain got up from her chair and signal the guards before exiting the room.
Selene called out to them. “Wait! Wait! Please don’t go yet! I’m telling you the truth! I wasn’t the cause of those people deaths! I was also in danger remember? Please you have to find the real culprit and stop the execution! Do you hear me?”
Selene’s cries fell on deaf ears. Lieutenant Fain along with officer Hizen ignored her duplicitous rants and vacate their presence from the room. Afterwards, the male guards came back inside to escort Selene to her prison cell.
“No! Get off me! This isn’t right! You can’t just pin all the blame on me! I want to see my father! ” Selene was behaving wildly while the guards were carrying her back to her cell. They had to manhandle her to keep her violent temperament under control.
“Keep quiet you damn terrorist!” Reaching Selene’s cell on the third floor, the guards tossed her disrespectful behind inside.
Selene felt so dejected, she curled into a ball on the dirty floor without crawling onto her bed and began shedding more tears. [Sob! Son!] She had so many things planned for her youthful life. She was going to travel abroad and experience the fantasies of the world, learn about foreign cultures, dabble in dreamy romance, but now all of her exciting adventures have received a major setback due to her prescribed capital punishment.
[Chatter! Chatter! Chatter!] The unruly mob surrounding Thorn Passion Penitentiary calmed down after Warden Cho came outside and informed them about the terrorist’s death penalty. This news was broadcasted to all of Bay City’s major news networks. When Clifton Gomez heard about this, he pulled all the influential strings he could grasp to have a sit down with his daughter.
Two days later, Clifton Gomez’s visit to his daughter was approved; he went to Thorn Passion Penitentiary via helicopter. In the visitor’s room, Selene was sitting across from her father. She was upset that only her father had come to visit. Isabel Gomez refused to stare at Selene’s disgusting face for tarnishing their family’s reputation. Hence the reason why she didn’t come visit even after learning of her daughter’s imminent execution.
Selene let the absence of her mother soaked into her mind before conversing with her sperm donor. “Father I really didn’t do all those bad things that they are saying about me. I was set up.”
“I believe you, baby girl.” [Sob! Sob!] Clifton Gomez was crying a fountain of tears while speaking with his daughter. He had to continually make use of his handkerchief to wipe his damp face.
“Father, did you hear? They decided to give me the death penalty in hopes of appeasing the truculent citizens of Bay City.”
[Sob! Sob!] “Yes, I heard, sweetheart.”
“Then father can you…” Selene was about to ask if her father could pull some sturdy strings to get rid of her death penalty, but Clifton Gomez spoke before she could properly finish.
“My baby… I’ve already tried everything I possibly could. However, the higher-ups have already stilled their minds. I’m so sorry! I’m really a useless father! I can’t even save my own daughter.” [Sob! Sob!]
“Father…?” Selene perceived how badly her demise impacted her father’s unstable condition. His pressure rose so sky-high, he almost collapsed in prison. The guards had to step in and carried him off to the infirmary.

The American Dream: An Alternate, Time-Travel Timeline
Due to a mysterious transcendent being, United States Marine Corps First Lieutenant Samuel Kim from the year 2016 is thrown back in time to the year 1775. To make matters worse, he wakes up near Bunker Hill, mere hours before the famed Battle of Bunker Hill is set to begin. Realizing the unique situation he finds himself in, the lieutenant takes the opportunity to change the fate of the battle and ensure an overwhelming American victory. Guided by his "patronizing" "God" and the American revolutionaries, Lieutenant Kim embarks on a journey to help America gain its independence and to ensure the nation uphold its "most promising" ideals from the very beginning. Author's Warning: The story is very rough in the first few chapters (and as some readers pointed out, some parts are laughable, such as "American idealism"). However, the pace and quality of the story improves from chapter four and onwards. You will enjoy the story if you have some interest in history, worldbuilding, and the butterfly effect (along with a few badass characters). So even if you are a bit turned off in the beginning, I promise that the story improves quickly.

Path of Boundless Adventure
When Mana flooded back to Earth after billions of years, most felt lost in the new world. Some managed to adapt. For Michael, he felt like he'd finally found his path. Follow him as he fights monsters, explores new lands and most of all, seeks adventure. This is my first novel, never written anything before, so please be kind and patient with me, I'm doing my best. A more light-hearted post-apocalyptic novel with large amounts of game elements. MC has a unique advantage but is not massively overpowered and there's more of a focus on exploring and discovering new things rather than defeating a series of arch-nemesis' or building an empire.
