Chapter 27 Arrival Of Bay City’s Defence Force
Isabel Gomez was flabbergasted by the breaking news broadcast that was showing on her TV before it abruptly lost signal. “Oh my God! What did I just witness? That can’t be real right, dear?”
“Since when does CN7 network report fake news?” Clifton Gomez got up from his comfort zone. “Something awful must be happening downtown and that is where our baby girl is currently at. I am going outside to see what’s really going on in our city.”
“Darling wait for me, I’m coming with you. Where are the keys?” Isabel Gomez followed her husband outside. Her usually snobbish gate faded rapidly.
The moment Mr and Mrs Gomez stepped outside, their inquisitive gazes were directed to the hazardous gas circulating the atmosphere way out in the distance. Due to their residence being on a slightly elevated land which overlooked the downtown area, they could clearly see the green poison permeating the airspace.
“My God! It is true. The downtown district is in chaos.” Cold sweat trickled down Mr Gomez’s spine when he came to the realization that his beloved daughter might be in grave danger. He took his phone and began contacting officers Gon and Mark who carried Selene off to the station, however, he received no answer. [I’m sorry. The number you are calling is unavailable at the moment. Please leave a message after the…]
[Thud!] Mr Gomez tossed his phone to the ground with a smashing intensity. His uneasiness was quite evident on his aged demeanour. “Give me the damn keys!” He grabbed the key-ring from his wife’s trembling fingers then rushed over to the garage. [Thud! Thud! Thud!] He intended to drive into the eye of the biohazard to rescue his youngest daughter from imminent danger.

[Vrm!] Mr Gomez left his woman behind and revved his sports car through the driveway, however… [Screech!] He was forced to suddenly jam the breaks when he perceived a huge military vehicle pulling over near his gate. “What’s the meaning of this?” he got out of his vehicle and went to see what was going on.
[Vrm! Vrm!] As Mr Gomez approached his front gate, he heard a large trail of armoured vehicles passing by outside. There were even battle aircraft flying overhead. “Is it the BCDF?”
[Thud! Thud!] The doors of the armoured vehicle parked outside the Gomez residence opened up. Out of it came many foot soldiers who started informing the neighbourhood folks to stay inside their homes and make sure they wore the Lignum face masks they provided. When the foot soldiers finished distributing their package of face masks, they went back into their armoured vehicle then drove off.
“Clifton, what was that all about?”
“Put this on.” Mr Gomez gave a Lignum face mask to his wife and relayed the message that was given to him. “The military is telling everyone to stay inside their homes, seal all the doors and windows. Also, wear this type of mask. Apparently, they have Lignum essence installed that can purify the toxicity in the air that we inhale.”
Isabel Gomez quickly donned her Lignum mask. “What about our daughter? Will she be alright? The way I acted when we last spoke, I don’t want things to end so badly between us.”
“Don’t worry, Isabel. Our daughter is still alive and will remain that way until she gives us grandchildren. Trust me.”
“Alright.” The Gomez couple embraced each other as they retreated indoors and waited for the latest updates from the various news portals.

[Whoosh!] The head of the military ground forces that were driving into the biohazard downtown, was a middle-aged bald man. His goatee was rough around the edges. Coupled with his sharp sideburns and bushy moustache, he resembled a battle demon thirsting for fresh blood. This intimidating individual that gave off a diabolical vibe was known to his subordinates as General Vragpuss the world conqueror. He spoke through his earpiece and communicated with his army.
“Listen up maggots! We are about to commence operation Annihilate and Rescue.” General Vragpuss’s voice sounded like a vicious tiger roaring at the heavens. “Ground forces unit-10 to unit-13, your duty is to quarantine the outer borders of the biohazard spread by the downtown district! Prevent all infected from breaking through the barricade at any cost! Headquarters have recently informed us that the enemy is weak against fire! Set the entire outer border ablaze if you have to! Leave only a tiny gap for our other ground forces to slip in and out of!”
“Yes, sir!” Unit-10 along with unit-11, 12 and 13 rushed to their instructed locations. They carried out their commands with swift precision and created an impenetrable quarantine zone of fire to prevent the rampaging Fart Mutants from leaving the downtown district to wreak havoc on the neighbouring cities.
General Vragpuss issued other instructions as the armoured vehicle he was travelling in drove into the danger zone. “Unit-5 to unit-9 your orders are to aid with the civilians’ evacuation! The delivery trucks and BCUTC (Bay City Urban Transit Company) buses are all at your disposal! Transport the rescued individuals to the safe-zone over by the Red Hawk stadium! The medical personnel are already on their way there! They should have stable facilities set up within the next hour!”
“Yes, General!”
“Units-1 to unit-4, you’re with me! We need to disable whatever is causing this biohazard to spread so rapidly! Our sources told us that the Fart Mutants are more concentrated around the clock tower as if they are guarding something! That is where we are going! All units prepare your Lignum grenades! We’re going in!”
[Vrm! Vrm!] The armoured truck General Vragpuss was in crashed through a barricade constructed out of wrecked vehicles as it went ahead on the infected path leading to the clock tower by the waterfront. [Vrm!] The closer they got to the zone of the spread, they came across more horde of smaller Fart Mutants who they ran over with their armoured vehicles.
[Screech! Boom! Boom!] The military’s vicious advance caught the attention of an apex Fart Mutant that was climbing up a skyscraper. [RAAAH! Boom!] At that time, the beastly creature saw that its grotesque infantry was getting wrecked and crashed its huge framework below directly onto the road ahead of the armoured vehicles. There was a great upheaval of asphalt which forced the military vehicles to halt their advance.
“General! There is a huge one in front of us!”
“I can see that.” What General Vragpuss and his men laid eyes on was a gigantic bloated monster that occupied all the wide stretched of road. Four elongated necks taller than a giraffe were protruding from its large carcass. Present on those varieties of necks were grotesque nipples with contaminated milk pouring out of them. Also, the beast possessed an animalistic hind decorated with an overwhelming amount of gaseous asses. [Fart! Fart! Fart!]
