《Wilberforce》Chapter 156: Heeda (4)

"The only person who has ever survived my cut was Triple Factor. I didn't know there is someone with the same trick. Anyway, your attempt is still in vain. The Three-Blooded technique is already done."
Heeda wanted to draw his attention to something, but the sky suddenly churned and the sun clouded. There was thunder and it rained. But it was an unusual rain. The rainfall didn't reach the ground before it evaporated. It took about sixty seconds but when it was over, there was not a single drop of rain on the ground. It was weird.
As soon as it began to rain, Bihanzin leaped to the side and held his sword in front of him. For the first time, his posture was that of uncertainty. A piece he couldn't control had appeared. "The time has come," he mumbled to himself. "One among the three of us will have to die."
He pressed his hand to his chest and, in response, his eyes and the giant sword in his hands glowed.
But Heeda hadn't moved. She cradled Armad in her arms and waited. For some reason, she was reluctant to keep Armad in her bag of holding despite already throwing Nostalgia inside.
The rain that seemed like an illusion now coalesced into the form of a human. It gradually transformed into the crown prince, Dumakisu Ururu.
Above the crown prince's head was a disc-like halo of darkness. Formless souls moved within the halo. Some screamed and others kept trying to fly out. A soul of a girl and that of the woman holding her peered at the new surroundings. They released a desperate scream and ran back inside. Countless souls responded to the scream by running around the halo and some even dispersed. It was an eerie appearance that was unnaturally dark.

The halo of the Ashura was called the Soul Bank, the highest Bend of the Ururu. Uznu, despite being Ashura before he died, didn't have one. Perhaps, he was more Uzzus than Ururu. Or maybe it was solely strength-related.
Behind the crown prince were the remaining jinzidal Kings: King Han'ibal, King Miki Abbas, and king Deniz Iluru.
The prince turned to Heeda and said, "Hidaya Taidara Yunussa'ayi Albarizzaman Eyrion Aldaima Wilberforce, your time is up. Your soul shall usher me to the next tier above Deva."
Hidaya didn't respond to the clear provocation. She just studied Miki Abbas and Han'ibal without replying. The two Kings avoided her eyes.
"I still want my position as a jinzidal King, so I can help you kill her, prince," Bihanzin said.
The prince didn't reply but kept looking at Hidaya. He acted like she was the only one present there.
"You started learning about pol Bending two hundred years after I did, but you have already reached the late stage of Deva. Amraikugyu said you are the brightest person ever born." She paused and stared into the passing clouds before she continued, "You may be better than Triple Factor, Amraikugyu, Maruta and Haruta, and even the Lord King, but you cannot kill Armad. The throne in the Palace of Pol was built just for Armad Wilberforce."
"So you understand that it wasn't your life I am after today." The prince laughed. "You deserve your reputation. I visited prince Maruta Ururu seven hundred years ago. I needed a consult on Deva. He told me you were the first person ever to discover the late stage of Deva. The sun worshippers now worship you for your right eye, and the moon worshippers do so for your left eye. Your soul shall be of great use to me after I kill you. Maybe I will ascend to the stage beyond Deva and have a place near the Lord King."

Heeda pointed up and down, then to the north, east, west, and south. A condensed light shot from her right eye and turned into runic lines on the air before encircling the sun in the sky. A moon appeared beside the sun, and she did the same with it with her left eye. The sun and the moon in the sky came down to the earth. They hovered some distance above Hidaya and cycled around her. Other parts of the world grew dark and cold, whereas the battlefield grew intense. Then Hidaya turned to the prince and said, "My soul, you said? I would like to see you try."
A new battle began.
The prince and Hidaya stared at each other menacingly, the atmosphere around them charged. The jinzidal Kings surrounded her, but Heeda had no time for them. Her eyes were fixed on the prince.
It was a slap on their faces and that enraged them. The Kings made a move at the same time.
Han'ibal struck with his sword, causing a stream of lava and flame to fly toward Heeda. At the same, Miki conjured a mountain of snow and threw it at her. And Deniz summoned a sea of dark lightning and attacked her.
Hidaya conjured a ring of light around Armad to protect him. She didn't attempt to protect herself or dodge. The prince chose to attack at the same moment. He raised his sword and lunged forward, but he was forced to stop midair when Heeda's eyes began to bleed.
The bombardment from the Kings didn't leave a scratch on the woman's body. She would now retaliate.
The prince threw his sword aside and reached into the soul bank above him. He produced a fifty-meter-long spear and threw it at Hidaya. At the same time, he screamed toward the sky. "Black Hajar. Celest Hound!" His voice sounded so hoarse that it seemed his throat was torn.
The entire rock known as the Black Stone descended to the lower worlds to protect him. The sun above Hidaya descended at the same time the Black Stone came down. They collided with each other, and both of them shattered. The mammoth rock that protected the first world for so long and restricted the lower worlds had been destroyed in an instant. And the sun was still strong. It went for the Prince.
Dumakisu tried to dodge but it was impossible with the size of the sun and how close they were. He screamed desperately as the sun bumped into him. The souls that were trapped in his soul bank tried to shield him, but they were all burned to nothing, and even the prince's soul sustained cracks. He looked aged in an instant. His hair was turned white, his skin was wrinkled, and his eyes became listless.
Above all, he couldn't move anymore. The sun had dissipated after colliding with his soul bank but it left behind a restriction Bend that prevented him from moving. If he insisted on moving, then he would have to leave his soul behind.

But when his squad is tasked with conducting a routine patrol deep in enemy territory, everything goes to nine kinds of hell, and he quickly sees his chances at survival slipping away. When the radio operators start to pick up some funky, dirty ol’ blues all the way out in the backcountry, it’s a nice change of pace. At least until the men in Yancy’s squad start losing their minds, turning on each other with murderous intent as the music works its deadly power within them. Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source. What they find, however, isn’t some new technology, but an ancient spirit awoken by the terrible war. Even worse, the music is changing Yancy too, awakening something buried inside of him. Only one thing is certain, nothing is ever going to be the same.See how it all began … *** PRAISE FOR SIREN SONG:Hunter's writing is as low-down, gritty, and insidious as the blues Yancy Lazarus loves.
