《Wilberforce》Chapter 83: Coincidence or Destiny

"Pick him up." Captain Besaiah instructed the guard next to him to pick up the body of the young man floating on the water.

The young man was taken into the ship's emergency room and a slender man dressed in white was summoned to look after him. Captain Besaiah didn't know why he rescued the man despite his suspicion. And when he saw his face and remembered the bounty poster he saw last year, his eyes went wide in shock. He wondered what he would do with such a bounty on his ship.

"It will be difficult for him to survive. May the great Sword be with him." The doctor explained to the captain after he failed to wake the man up. Despite breathing normally, he had failed to respond to any treatment.

The captain decided to just keep him in the emergency room before they reached their destination. Then after a week and everyone had almost forgotten about him, he woke up. He opened his eyes slowly and sat upright. He could hear the voices of the passengers behind the wall to his right.

He got out of bed and headed for the door. His body remained intact and he didn't feel any pain. As he opened the door, the bright sunlight from the opposite window shone on his eyes, which he quickly blocked with his hands. The warm wind blew across his face and he realized he must have somehow left the cold and desolate prison behind.

"Look, he woke up..."

"He lived."

"It's a miracle..."

"I have never seen someone being unconscious for so long and survived."

"He must be so lucky."

The young man picked up some of the passengers' comments, suddenly realizing everyone around was already aware of him. He was in a medium-sized room with people sitting around dining tables and eating.

"Go back to bed and be careful not to fall." The flight attendant supported him from the side. He didn't know the young man was just fine. Being able to turn into lightning allowed him to overcome fatigue and pain in a short period.

But he still nodded at the attendant. "Thank you. Where am I?"

"You are on Trader-night," the attendant said. "We are on our way to the fourth world, the kingdom of Sisiya."

Sisiya? The young man narrowed his eyes. "Is it a coincidence or destiny?"

The attendant didn't understand him. "Coincidence or destiny? What are you talking about, sir?"

"It's nothing. I was just going to Sisiya myself. I don't know if you will take me there even though I have no money on me. Though once we get there, someone will lend me some, and I will pay you."

Besaiah, who was sitting not far from them, frowned. "If I needed your money, young man, I wouldn't have saved you. You just keep quiet and get better."

The young man looked at Besaiah and immediately identified him as the captain of the ship. His tone and dress were both different from everyone else around. "Thank you for saving me," the young man said. He'd always thought he would escape the prison fully conscious and capable of protecting himself, so he didn't prepare anything beforehand. But that wasn't the case and the captain must have somehow saved him from drowning.

"Here, come and eat." Besaiah welcomed him to his table.

The young man was given meatballs and fried fish dipped in a warm soup. He downed it all at once. Everyone was looking at him with different expressions and some were still talking about how he survived.

"Let's face it, you're hungry," Besaiah ordered some more food. The young man didn't refuse it. He needed little to no food but he wasn't going to tell them that or they would think he was a djinn.

Afterward, Besaiah moved him from the emergency room to another room reserved for upper-class passengers. "This shall be your room before we reach our destination. We expect to land in two or three weeks."

Armad thanked him but there was something still bothering him. "You won't ask of my origin or destination? Aren't you afraid of pirates?"

Besaiah smiled. "I already know who you are, Armad Djinn. But calm down, no one recognizes you among my passengers."

Armad rolled his eyes at the man. "What are you talking about? How did you know my name?"

Besaiah shrugged. "Your pictures are all over the seven worlds, young man. And everyone who reads the newspaper is already familiar with your face. So I asked my healer to fix your nose, mouth, and eyes." He showed Armad to a mirror on the door next to him.

The first thing Armad saw was his nose. It was flat and short like a monkey. His eyes were big and oversized and his mouth was so wide that it looked torn. The first word that came to his mind was a swear but he managed to calm himself down and settled for less. "What did you do to my face?"

Besaiah looked at Armad seriously. "If I didn't turn your face into that, my passengers will now be competing for the 1.5 million ayrids on your head?"

Armad smirked. "If so, why do you protect me? Are you waiting to reach the harbor?"

Besaiah chuckled. "Look, I don't ask you to trust me but I promise all my passengers safety, including you. You will be safe from me and my ship. My father has been in prison for seven years now for a crime he didn't commit. I know how it feels to have the first world on your tail. This money they put on you... It's just to clear the princess and put the blame on you. Your crime is being poor and not being born with royal blood in your veins. If you don't trust me, you can leave at any time. It's your choice."

He turned and left Armad standing there with his new face.
