《Wilberforce》Chapter 51: Slave Auction

Kalkutu and Netti discussed the subject of the boy - namely Armad - they had tortured for months as they flew in the sky.

Netti was speaking at the moment, "there is nothing we haven't done to the boy but the book hasn't revealed itself. For five months, we've done anything torture to him but no avail. I think the Lord's decision is on the right track but you don't seem to agree."

Kalkutu looked at Armad who was tied on his back. "Yeah," he said. "But do you think selling him as a slave is what will bring the book-sword out? Don't forget the torment we inflicted on him. I think the punishment we inflicted on him was far greater than the punishment for selling him as a slave."

Netti shook his head. "Yes, you are right, but we'll do what we are told to do. We will go and sell him as a slave to one of the jinzidal kings. Then we will keep an eye on him until the book shows up. Perhaps the Lord knows something that we don't. Perhaps it will only reveal itself when it feels the retribution of worshiping as a slave. There are different forms of torture, you know."

They went on to discuss how they plan to sell Armad as a slave.

The nineteenth day of the tenth month of each year was the day set aside for the grand ceremony to present all the slaves won in the Jinzidal competition. Every powerful person would come to buy what they wanted.

The five jinzidal kings conducted the trade and the auction. They distributed the management every year between themselves. If one King managed it this year, another would take over the following year until it went round. This year the meeting was being held in the land of King Rafiya.

The auctioning was arranged to take place in a large conference room with three floors separated by large glass walls.

There were common people on the first floor, leaders of small villages on the second floor, and the jinzidal Kings and their convoys on the third floor.

In front of the hall was a raised platform. On top of which was a small box made of glass that was meant for keeping slaves and presenting them to the masters.

The trading began and soon slaves of various colors were introduced and presented in the glass box to the masters.

The presenter was a very tall, rugged man. His voice was high-pitched but muffled from the excessive shouting and overly description of the 'items'.

After more than twenty slaves were introduced, a young man was presented. He walked fast despite being in iron chains. His whole body was covered with blood and his shirt was torn in more places than could be counted.

The young man was taken into the glass box and the presenter awarded him a price of 60,000 ayrids.

He was none other than Armad Wilberforce. He was the hero of the recent jinzidal and was already famous in many places. Yet, no one recognized him. It appeared the djinns Netti and Kalkutu had altered his appearance such that no one could recognize him.

Armad was about to be sold to a wealthy man in the city when a voice came from the third floor where the Jinzidal Kings sat. The voice was feminine and it belonged to princess Nostalgia. Either the princess just wanted to buy a slave, or she had somehow identified the young man. Either way, the lesser masters couldn't afford to argue with someone like her so they let her have him.

Meanwhile, Armad was in the glass swearing by everything he held dear that he would take the jinzidal down. He made it his goal to see the day when people would never be put in cages for sale. He already hated the slave trade, but he never knew what those being sold as slaves felt until then.

One final time, Armad swore that he would take down the jinzidal Kings and the Ururu who founded the slave trade. He would put an end to everything.

At this point, Armad felt his chest burned with anger. He blamed himself for his weakness and for not taking things seriously when his sister wanted to teach him. But he would get it right. He had one month left to find Triple Factor and save his mother. Then he would come after the jinzidal and the Ururu. On that 19th day of the tenth month, 1853 A.A, Armad promised to fight the world to bring a new order which didn't allow slave trading.

Surprisingly, like something in his blood was waiting for him to take the oath, he felt his eyes burning as if they were being fried. His hair felt like it was being plucked. He would have shouted if he'd the strength to do so. He sweated all over. The masters thought it was fear, that the slave was afraid of the inevitable beating and hardship. It was common, of course, for slaves to sweat. Some slaves even lost it just before being sold.

What Armad and all the slave masters didn't know, however, was that at that very moment he was having his awakening. The power that Armad inherited from his Wilberforce blood was being awakened.
