《My Pirate System》Chapter 12: The Day Of Execution

Reo grinned after hearing the entire plan.
Also, one of the men added a few more adjustments to the plan and suggested some things which even shocked Eric.
"Wow, look at him go…"
"What a great plan, man…", Eric praised him.
"It's an honor to be praised by you, master Eric…", said the one who had initially crossed his arms.
"But weren't you enemies not too long ago?", Eric asked sarcastically.
The man laughed, "We were enemies, but now we're fighting our main and common enemy. So, my enemy's enemy is my friend, isn't that right?"
Reo, Eric, and the remaining two members looked at him as they rolled their eyes. They had no interest in whatever he said.
Reo smiled as he nodded gratefully toward the man.
"Alright. In three months' time, we'll escape this hellhole. In the meantime, let's revise the plan with everyone else.", Reo instructed.
Earlier, he had asked some more cellmates to be sent outside. If they were trustworthy enough, then he would share the plan with them as well. Hence, he even asked Reo to invite all of them.
.
.
.
Three months later, it was time to carry out their escape plan. On the morning of Reo's execution, they all planned to escape, however, the plan had been set into motion long before that.
Reo woke up much earlier than usual, or to be precise, he didn't even get a proper wink of sleep.
"Wake up!", the guard said as he hit the bars of the prison as he saw Reo curling around.
Reo opened his eyes groggily, "Hey man, it's my death day today."
The guard rolled his eyes as he asked, "Indeed. What would you like to have as your last meal?"
"Is this some great five-star prison? Providing me food before I die? Gosh, I'm so flattered.", Reo said as he laughed heartily.

"It's either you tell me, or you don't. Up to you.", the guard said.
"Fine, fine. Don't get so cranky, man.", Reo said as he sighed.
"I would like to have some of your finest meat. I'm craving meat, it's been a while since I had some.", he said.
The guard nodded as he walked away from the prison.
Well, in this world, one could seek any food he would like to eat before death. They would indeed be provided that. However, this was a custom carried out, not because of pity. It was a custom of installing poison in the food that if by any means, the criminal does manage to escape, then the poison could be triggered exactly an hour after the execution time was set.
Of course, sometimes, due to a weak constitution, the prisoner or criminal would end up dying earlier. The officers will just tell that the criminal was trying to escape hence he was killed – no one would dare to question them anyway.
Reo immediately shook Eric, "Master? Wake up."
Eric immediately sat upright, "It's today, right?"
"Yeah. The guard said he would get me my last food. After I eat, then we can finally commence our plan.", Reo whispered.
Eric nodded, "Be careful out there, Reo."
"You too, Master Eric."
The guard came back with a plate of meat. He handed it to Reo and instructed him to eat quickly.
The guard left and gave Reo about thirty minutes to finish the meal.
After thirty minutes, Reo was dragged out of the prison and brought to an island on a ship called 'Retribution Island'.
No one was present there, yet for some reason, Reo could hear some weird cries.
"Booo! You're a disgrace!"
"Kill him already!"

Reo looked around. He saw a magic crystal orb. It seemed like his execution would be shown to everyone in the world.
'Are the voices coming from the orb?', he questioned and just as he was thinking this, screens started appearing all over the place.
He could view people and citizens of various places. Some last survivors of Goldmond were also seen. All of them were showing their dissatisfaction and for some reason, Reo was able to hear that.
'How is it possible that I can hear others? I don't think the microphones or other sound-related devices would be installed near them…'
'And with the crystal orb, the sound could only exit the screen on their sides…'
'I see what's going on…'
'This island is the Island of Illusions, right? The Devil's Land No.10…'
'Broadcasting throughout the world may be true, but the voices that I am hearing are fake, after all, I can even hear the voices of my wife and daughter…', he thought as a drop of tear left his eyes.
As mentioned earlier, Devil's Land was a place where the power of Gods didn't work. However, that didn't mean the places were normal. The laws of those places were different and everything about those places was abnormal!
There were 97 such places present in the world out of which 81 haven't been ventured or explored.
Reo was forced to place his head under a guillotine. There was an officer pulling the rope which held onto the large blade above his neck. If the man were to let go of the rope, Reo's life would end right there.
"Citizens of North Isel. Welcome to the first execution of a pirate.", an officer of the Anti-Pirate Federation said loudly.
The crowd that watched from all around the world, cheered in joy.
"Pirates have been our enemy for as long as I can remember. The Anti-Pirate Federation had spent so much time and money to find these pesky beings. But now, we did it. And of course, there would be more executions to come!", the officer said again, raising his hand up. The crowd roared in cheers and chants.
"Okay, I know all of us are very excited. So, let us execute this pirate right here, and prove to the world that pirates are evil beings that need to be killed!"
"You all might have heard of this man, one of the crewmates of the West Conqueror Shawn."
"Although he unboarded his ship a year ago, he is still a criminal and his crimes couldn't be forgiven."
"He even went far ahead and burnt his own hometown Goldmond. How cruel…?"

THE TIME MACHINE (Completed)
The Time Machine is a science fiction novel by H. G. Wells, published in 1895 and written as a frame narrative. Wells is generally credited with the popularization of the concept of time travel by using a vehicle that allows an operator to travel purposely and selectively forwards or backward in time. The term "time machine", coined by Wells, is now almost universally used to refer to such a vehicle. The Time Machine has been adapted into three feature films of the same name, as well as two television versions, and a large number of comic book adaptations. It has also indirectly inspired many more works of fiction in many media productions.
