《My Pirate System》Chapter 6: The Locket

"His name is Shiro!!", the lady shouted at the top of her voice in the small clinic.
It was basically a house made up of some wood and nothing else. It could hardly be called an hospital but that was the best that could be seen here since the place was poor.
No rich people could be found anywhere near the place and it seemed as if the Land was under constant threat of flood since it was quite close to the sea.
But despite that, the people lived there. They had to face hard times during the rainy season when the sea became almost unpredictable.
They would be required to evacuate to a higher area during that time and when the condition settles down, they would come back.
But the recent storm that took place was completely unexpected since it wasn't a rainy season in the first place.
It was the time of summer when there would be little to no rain and that was the very reason why it seemed like a good and bad sign at the same time.
It was good because many poor people got a lot of rainwater which could be used in various ways. It was considered bad since it killed many people and a lot more went missing.
"S-Shiro?", the doctor asked again because that type of name was uncommon to the area.
"How did you stumble upon that name?", the doctor asked while laughing.
"Well, I took it from the tales of the Sea Hero...", was what the lady replied while worrying about the child.
"Huh? Tales of the sea hero? That childish story?", the doctor laughed after hearing that while he was checking the child.
"Ah, it seems like he is hungry... feed him, then he will be alright.", was what the doctor said.

Shiro seemed quite calm all these times for reason unknown but the moment the doctor started checking him, he felt a bit irritated because of which he cried a bit.
"Oh... he is hungry...", she sighed with relief after hearing that.
"Thanks, Mornil...", she thanked the doctor whose name seemed to be Mornil Swagger.
"Ah, that's fine Loyola... you can visit me anytime..." he said.
He was a middle-aged man who was around 39-43 years old. He didn't have any white hairs on his head though he was bald but not completely. His beard was completely white.
He seemed like a kind and warm person since he was ready to help anyone anytime, but he was strict at times.
Loyola then left with the baby in her arms and went straight to her home.
"Haha, the tales of the sea hero she says...", he laughed.
What she said was indeed true since the letter 'S' was taken from Sea and the last part 'Hiro' was taken from Hero and was modified thus after mixing both of them it would be pronounced as SHIRO.
Probably that was also what Ria thought while naming Shiro!
She then pushed the door of her house which wasn't actually locked and then she entered it while slowly pushing the wooden door in order to close the entrance or exit.
Shiro seemed somewhat calm after coming back to Loyola's hands.
She slowly walked towards the small hard bed that was placed in the small house and sat on it.
"Eh? Mom... who is he?", suddenly a girl popped out of nowhere and asked.
The girl seemed quite young about 7-8 years. She was quite skinny at the same time.
It seemed as if she was suffering from minute Malnutrition but in the area, no one considered Malnutrition a big threat.

It seemed quite common in the area and that was why no one frets about it.
They could have easily Hunt fish since they were close to the sea but to do that, the heavy tax was supposed to be paid to the government or the Sea Federation.
They were basically monopolizing everything that was in the area due to which no one could go fishing.
That was why it was a wonder that Shiro wasn't detected by them. It might have been some fate due to which Shiro was destined to meet Loyola.
"Sera, he is Shiro, from today onwards he is your little brother...", Loyola said this with a smile on her face.
"L-little Brother...?", her eyes sparkled when she told that and she kept looking at Shiro who was sleeping in her arms.
Loyola then slowly moved Shiro and brought him close to her bosom and fed him with milk as per what Mornil Said.
Sera kept staring at Shiro who was being fed. It seemed as if she wanted to touch him.
She was attracted to him and probably wanted to know what a young one feels like.
Loyola finished feeding Shiro who was now sound asleep.
She then placed Shiro gently on the bed and then walked towards one corner of the room in order to get some leaves so that the bed could be made a bit softer for Shiro to sleep.
"You are my little brother... hehe...", Sera laughed while saying that and slowly touched his round puffed cheeks.
She kept staring at him for quite some time while he was fast asleep.
Meanwhile, Loyola had brought the Leaves and placed them properly upon which she laid another piece of clothing. Finally, she lifted Shiro and placed him on that.
"Good... now there won't be any problem...", she sighed.
Sera kept looking at Shiro even now and lay down just beside him.
"Good night... little brother:..", while saying this she too fell asleep while holding his right hand.
Shiro slept on the other side of the bed where he wouldn't fall since there was a wall in the room.
The side where Sera was sleeping didn't have any wall so she could have fallen, but Loyola decided to sleep on that side as usual so that they don't fall.
She looked at them while they slept and then turned back on remembering something.
She slowly removed the locket which was on Shiro's neck and took a glance at it.
"It's good that I removed this from his body... otherwise if someone had seen it then they could have harmed him...", was what she said.

The Ascendant: Endless Reincarnation
My name is Richard Brooks. I died while saving a kid. Kicking the bucket at 28 was really depressing, you know? There’s so much I still wanted to do. But instead of passing on, I was thrust into an endless series of reincarnations. Whenever I die, I earn Karma points based on my achievements and growth. These points can be exchanged for weapons, spells, or other bonuses to make my next lives more interesting. “What kills me only makes me stronger!” Or something like that. Honestly, it feels like I’m stuck in an RPG. The difficulty setting can be pretty ridiculous too. Sometimes all I can do is grit my teeth in frustration as I die an ignoble death. But I won’t complain. Even when it’s dangerous and painful, I love life. This is all an opportunity; I’ll do my best, no matter what kind of sadistic fate the System throws at me. I will swing the warhammer of justice! Craft and enhance the most amazing artifacts! Overwhelm opponents with a barrage of auto-casting spells! Lead powerful vassals in Domain wars! All for the sake of creating an eternal sanctuary. With my unique power of Runecrafting, maybe I’ll even become strong enough one day to overturn fate… or at least find out what the hell is really going on. It might take a few hundred or a thousand lifetimes, but what’s the rush? I have all the time in the world now. (Note: R15+ This is the work of a very inexperienced author with a full time job. Please expect an erratic release schedule.)
8 100Slothful Reincarnation
I got reincarnated in a world with monsters and magic. I just wish I can sleep all day and worry about nothing.
8 53Through Blood We Grow
Monsters come in many shapes. Men, animals, spirits, dreams, feelings. Sometimes it feels as if this world is a monster, simply waiting to devour you and all you hold dear. Grim knows this feeling better than most. Like many he was happy with his life, friends aplenty, a loving mother, a stable home, and a bright future. Like many that life was taken from him. But unlike many that wasn’t the end of him. He wasn’t devoured by the world, he was given a second chance and new name. With that name comes new people, new dangers, and a new outlook. This monster of a world wouldn’t consume him, he would grow. He would grow beyond the nightmares, beyond the weakness, and beyond his past. And the only way he can do that, is through blood.
8 204The Fine and Wholesome Activity of Chasing Shadows
A group of strangers gather in a ruined church. Each one chased a different rumor to find a mysterious storyteller. His stories begin while the moon hangs high and end just before dawn. Every tale features the supernatural but these stories are unexpectedly human. So yea, it's a series of interconnected short stories. This is my first time writing publicly like this so I'd love to hear some comments and criticism.
