《Templar's Oath》Oath (Scene 07)

I, Arlyn Claíomh Solais, templar knight of the trine goddesses, wielder of the silver glaive of light, and slayer of Duke Morfran, write to the council of the order.
Praise Ghrian the Lady of Light, and her merciful gifts. Glory to the Silver Champion Gealach, and the strength she bestows. Hail Realta, may the Overseer of Wisdom teach us all. May the trine goddesses and their children watch over us all.
In accordance with our sacred oath, I have set aside hatred and fairly judged the aes sídhe Glyn Dhu. Just as humans stray from the paths of good, so too can fairy kind act on paths of goodness.
The healer Glyn has, at risk of his own life, healed the dark curses from citizens of Wicklow. Through direct intervention of the goddesses, he survived the dangers and has been aquitted of any past crimes by an avatar of Realta.
Foul omens of another coming war between the dark gods and the blessed trine stir. This war threatens to be far more savage than the last war against the dark gods. I beseech the council to set aside blind hatred, and seek allies among the aes sídhe.
I understand as a newly appointed knight that my words hold little weight. I humbly request a senior knight be sent to verify the findings of my investigation, and the dire warnings of times to come.
May prudence set my path, may fortitude and temperance keep me to that path, and may justice wait for me at the end of my path. May faith take over where mortal virtues fail.
Amen.
Meaty hands torn and crumpled the parchment. The man sitting behind the desk tugged at the collar around his neck, his face as red as the robes he wore. He had known that Arlyn was too young to be a true knight. The young pup had fallen victim to the tricks of the aes sídhe, and now threatened to spread blasphemy.

“Page, get in here now!”
A young boy rushed into the room, already nervous from the tone of his master’s voice. With a motion from the priest, he quickly sat down at his small desk and started to put quill to parchment.
“After the formal pleasantries, inform the council that the name of Arlyn is to be stricken from the roster of templar knights. He has committed heresy and joined with the aes sídhe.”
The priest was actually glad with this recent development. With the fledgling knight’s treason, his standing would rise above those that had backed the appointment. Once the orphan brat was dead, a space in the roster would free up for one of his own candidates.
“Request that two veteran knights be sent to bring the traitor to justice, add all the closing formalities, and run the letter over to the council immediately.”
