Chapter 10: Permanent Spells

“I did it!” I yelled out. I had figured out the secret to how to create what I called, permanent spells.

What a permanent spell is, is a spell that will always be in use, such as, a permanent barrier, or if you’re me, a mind reading spell.

The secret behind these spells is that instead of having a spell always blaring on, which is too much magic power even for me, you just have to have what I call a dial. The ability to turn up and down a spell’s effectiveness.

For example, if I turn my dial all the way down, my mind reading spell turns off. If I turn it to 1, I can hear people in the room with me faintly, if I turn it up to 50, I can hear everyone in the building, if I turn it up to 100, I can hear everyone in the country, and if I turn it up to 200, I can hear everyone on Akafwhuwa.

The dial is powerful, and allows for so many more spell types.

Now, if I can just use the mind reading spell on Gowa’s brother, I can figure out what he wants most in his life. If I offer that to him in exchange for him giving up the throne, I can be next in line to be the king.

So that’s exactly what I did. I turned up the dial, and listened to what Gowa’s brother was thinking, I listened for long enough that I found out exactly what it was he wanted most.

“I just want to see her in a swimsuit. I can die happy then.” Not very elegant for a prince, but alright.

So I with the power of mind reading, I found where Gowa’s brother was, and bargained with him,

“Hey. You said you can die happy if you see some girl in a swimsuit?”

“H- How did you find me?”

“Mind reading.”

“M- M- Mind reading!? I knew you were smart but this is just too much…”

“Anyways, I’m here to bargain with you. I can show you her in a swimsuit. You okay with that in exchange for surrendering to be king?”

“Y- you’re insane! I would never surrender the throne just to… see... Fine! I’ll do it! Just give me the goods!”

I didn’t tell you about this spell I made, but I made a teleport spell, so I used that to bring the girl here in a swimsuit. I also used a combination of teleportation and a sleeping spell I made to make the girl fall asleep.

“Go ahead. The girl is yours.”

He went without hesitation. I expected the next in line to the king’s throne to be a little less willing to do that kind of stuff.

I left him alone for the day, and came back the next day.

When I got back to Gowa’s brother, it seemed that the girl had woken up and gone home, but Gowa’s brother had stayed.

“So, you gonna surrender the throne now?” I asked, “You gotta hold up your end of the bargain.”

“Haha! That’s where I’ve got you! I will never surrender the throne!” I pulled out my enchanted gun, and pointed it at him.

“There’s no way you would shoot that! Right?” I moved closer, pushing Gowa’s brother into a wall, “Right? You will suffer too if you shoot me! R- Right?”

“I don’t care if I suffer. I don’t tolerate people who don’t hold up their end of the bargain.”

It seemed Gowa’s brother was about to submit when he said this,

“Guards!”

“There you have it folks. The exact reason I hate the king’s son.” I saw the guards coming, and with a swift exhale, I put all the guards to sleep.

“Y- You monster!”

“And?” I was still moving closer to Gowa’s brother with my gun, until he finally hit the wall behind him.

“F- fine! I’ll do it!” Gowa’s brother paused, and with all his breath, yelled, “I SURRENDER THE THRONE!!!” So that the entire castle could hear.

“Alright then. Let’s see if you can say that to your father’s face. Remember, just because I won’t shoot you right in front of the king, doesn’t mean I won’t shoot you later.”

I teleported Gowa’s brother and I to the king’s room, when Gowa’s brother said to his father’s face,

“I surrender the throne...”

“Huh!?”

It was a long talk to explain why he was surrendering the throne.

Yet later that day, they started production of a newspaper that addressed the prince surrendering the throne, and it was being left to me.

That was easier than I expected.

3 Years Later

It’s been 3 years since I became next in line for the throne. What I didn’t really understand back then, is that kings live a long time, and there’s some waiting to be done.

I figured I could spend time making more spells, and stuff like that.

I even thought about making my own Magic Academy, for more advanced spells, but I ended up reconsidering, as I don’t think it’s a very good idea for kids to be running around with magic capable of sending the world into war. So I decided against that.

My life has mostly been filler, I’ve gotten a fair share of press and such, but that doesn’t mean everything.

I’ve been waiting for this moment.

Gowa and I sat in bed and decided the time was right. Gowa and I fell under the covers.

We came out, although Gowa felt different.

Gowa said her body felt physically different.

That night, I heard God’s voice, he told me that I had successfully transferred my eternal life to another.

I guess that was the ritual.
