《Fenrir Rising》Ambush

A scream is heard echoing throughout the camp, everyone is quick to stop what they are doing to find out what's happening. Mortas is the first one to discover the grim scene, a soldier torn apart from the torso lying in a pile of blood. The face of the fallen soldiers has a terrified look, almost like he knew he was going to be killed. Looking up from the soldier into the woods, Mortas sees a pair of red eyes staring back at him.
"Everyone, prepare for a fight, we're are under attack." Mortas yells.
A stream of orange flames approaching Mortas catches him off guard, but fortunately, he puts up a magical barrier in front of him just in time. The barrier shining blue even in the dark of night as the flames pass around it barely avoiding the soldiers standing behind him. The fire stops and a large black figure takes to the sky and Mortas finally figures out what it is. "Just as I feared, its a wyvern. Everyone take cover, Elenor back me up, Gabriel make sure the wolves are safe."
Just as Morts finishes what he is saying, goblins come rushing out of the forest armed with weapons they stole from previous battles and start attacking the soldiers. The goblins go down easy but the exhaustion of fighting waves of goblines takes its toll and a few of them die.
"I told you it would be dangerous coming this close to the Dark Territory." Elenor says.
"I don't need to be lectured, right now we need to focus on staying alive and beating that wyvern."
....
Fenrir and Luna after hearing the scream tried to run back to Skoll and Gabriel who were by the campfire. However, they found themselves surrounded by goblins. They both managed to take a few of them out and steal their weapons. With Mortas and Elenor fighting off the wyvern and Gabriel protecting Skoll, they are left to fend for themselves.
"This would be easier if I had brought a bow with me." Luna says.
"These cheap weapons are enough, they have to be. We have to hold out until the rest can get over here to help us."

Standing back to back they manage to keep the goblins away, thankfully they don't attack all at once, only a few charging at them at once. Fenrir grips his sword tightly in his hand and parries the goblins attack, he slices the goblin's stomach open with one swift move. It's guts spill out of its stomach and falls limp to the ground while screaming.
"Since when could you do that?"
"I don't know, I guess handling a weapon like this comes naturally to me."
Just then, they rush Luna but she is able to fend them off. One of the goblins manages to slice open her leg. The cut is not deep but the bleeding doesn't stop.
"Are you alright?" Fenrir asks.
"Yeah, I'm alright it's just a scratch."
Fenrir could see that her wound was more serious than what she was letting on. 'We can't keep going like this. I need to do something and fast.' Fenrir remembers what Gabriel said about how to manifest magical energy into a physical form. He concentrates on what shaps he wants it to take, but after a while, nothing happens. 'What's going on? Why isn't it working?'
While Fenrir was distracted, the goblins on Luna's side started to move in and overpower her. When Fenrir notices what's happening it's too late. The goblins blocked off his path to her and start attacking him. With his adrenaline rushing through his veins he manages to fend them all off leaving ten of them dead. But while this was happening the goblins managed to tie Luna up and started to drag her into the forest.
"Fenrir, help me!"
There are only a few goblins left between him and Luna, the rest seem to have retreated into the forest. 'I have to save her. I should be thankful that they decided not to kill her right away. At least I still have a chance to save her.'
Rushing in to attack the few thst still stand in his way, his swings the sword with all his might to sever the head off the first goblin. It's body falls limp to the ground with blood still gushing from its neck. The final two goblins seeing their comrade go down so easily, decide to attack Fenrir at once. Aiming high with their weapons Fenrir ducks and puts his sword up to block both attacks. Grabbing one of the goblins swords with his left hand he attacks the other one slicing through its chest, he pulls the sword that he is still grabbing towards him and brings his sword around to finish the other one off.

Fenrir winces in pain due to his hand being cut by the sword but the pain soon subsides. 'There is no time to waste. I need to catch up to them and save Luna.'
....
Gabriel has managed to kill the surrounding goblins around Skoll. The goblins start to make their retreat but Gabriel notices that Mortas and Elenor are still fighting the wyvern. "Skoll, we need to find Fenrir and Luna. Have you seen where they went?"
"I haven't seen them since we were attacked."
Looking around the camp Gabriel sees no sign of them. "Well, at least I don't see their corpses lying around. They might still be alive, Mortas can handle that wyvern on his own. Come on, let's gather the rest of the soldiers and go look for them."
....
Fenrir is running into the woods chasing after Luna. 'I have to do whatever it takes to save her even if it costs me my life.'
Fenrir slows down to a stop having lost their trail, Bending down to inspect the ground for any signs of them being here. 'No, not here. I have to turn back around and find their trail. How far have they gone already.?' He shakes his head knowing that there is no time to waste on thinking about how far ahead of him they have gotten.
He doubles back around and finds the trail again, this time being more careful not to lose it again. 'I can't afford to lose them again. I need to hurry up and get to her as quickly as possible.'
After half an hour of tracking them, he comes across a cave. 'This must be it. I have to stay on my guard from now on, any mistakes from here on could be fatal. This is exactly why Suriel should have taught us how to use magic properly in case of situations like this.'
Fenrir's hands are shaking as he approaches the entrance of the cave. 'I need to relax. I can't be nervous in this situation, I have to get ahold myself. Just calm down, everything is going to be fine, those goblins are no match for me I can do this.'
Fenrir walks up to the cave entrance and notices that there are no lights in the cave. 'Goblins might be able to see in the dark like I can. The main disadvantage that I will have here is not knowing the layout or the number of enemies inside.'
After taking a few deep breaths he heads inside the cave. Upon entering he smells the scent of rotting corpses. 'I think this is the right cave. No doubt about it, it seems like they drag their victims in here and kill them.'
Wandering further inside the smell of blood gets stronger almost to the point where it almost becomes unbearable to tolerate. Even so, Fenrir keeps pushing on further into the cave. Blood is now visible on the cave floor looking like many victims have been dragged through here.
At this point, Fenrir can see a faint light deeper into the cave. He can start to hear voices and a distinct scream as well. 'That sounds like Luna screaming in pain. But I have to be careful, I can't just rush in there, that would be too reckless. Even if she is in danger I can't let myself be killed before I can save her.'

8 129Gods of Arkanoth
The hunter has been betrayed, left alone in the streets of a lugubrious district. Only one goal appears in his eyes: to avenge himself. In his quest to avenge himself, he'll encounter an enigmatic scientist who seems to hide his true nature, a savior pretending to be a God, and the terrible truth of those words, bringing him against something he'd never thought he'd have to affront. This is the odyssey of the hunter, in a quest to put a long overdue end to a war between two worlds. // What to expect:The beginning will surely be intriguing, most of what's happeing won't be directly explained, although there will be some hints about their true roles, but do not worry about some subjects never leaving that misty fog that is unanswered questions! The novel is divided in two parts, the first focusing on uncovering the well-hidden secrets the city of Arkanoth hides, be it concerning its making or its inhabitants. As for the second part, it will be an expedition into the unknown, we could, in a way, say the true start of the journey our three heroes will undertake! I won't say anything more about the second part or else I might tell you an important detail without realizing... As for magic, because yes, there is magic! Although you might not see the shadow of a spell in the first chapters, it will appear in later chapters and will be one of the main subjects of volume 2. There are three heroes, yes, but they will not appear directly. While the first two protagonists appear in quite the beginning, the third will take his time, taking some stroll in the Districts of Arkanoth while we focus on the story of the hunter. But that does not lessen his importance in the story a bit, trust me. What about these three heroes, you say? Well, they all have their own issues, from their character to their torments, and as the story progresses they will have to come clean with their past (character development is to be expected) and will find their reason for fighting, braving all odds. I draw my inspiration from mythology, more precisely Aztec mythology. I want to stay true to a certain extent about it and all the relations between the gods and their role, however I will still change some things to my liking, so do not expect for all of the mythology to be respected to the letter. Finally! I have to say English is a foreign langage for me, so I might not choose the best words or straight-up miswrite something, if it bothers your experience, just tell me in the comments and I'll look into it! It is also my first time writing a book, so some parts might seem sloppy, but I hope I will be able to improve throughout this journey so as to give the most enjoyable reading experience to you. // Who might enjoy this story: Firstly, if you like deep lore and stories in which past plays a big role, you will like how everything unravels to show the hidden truths of the world. However if you do not appreciate not instantly understanding what's happening or who - or even what - this person might be, then you might not appreciate the story. There will be disturbing and gore descriptions, so if you're sensitive, don't like reading about someone being beheaded and such, you should probably pass this one. There is strong langage, although I won't abuse it, I won't be lying saying no insults will appear. Finally, the heroes will not always win, they will sometime lose battles, be it important ones or unimportant, and they will, most of the time, not come out unscathed from those. // Time Schedule : once every two sundays at 7:pm Ps : feel free to tell me if something is bad, or feel wrong with the book, it really helps me. I've written till' chapter 4 (in my mother tongue, so I'll still have to translate), however I'll make some minor and major changes, thus it will take some time to post them. Schedule will probably not change after releasing chapter 4, so don't worry, it won't take even longer to post a chapter than it already is. Enjoy the ride :)
