《Generation: Alpha》Chapter 12

Maple stood in a state of shock. Her gloves were once again stained with blood, only it wasn't the enemies blood this time. Laying before her, Alyssa had closed her eyes and remained still. A pool of blood was beginning to creep out from underneath her body, her chest remaining at an eerie calm. Maple waited for her to begin moving, but she lay still evermore.
The RTHV ascended from the tunnels of the Underground, rising to the surface on the tracks that ran parallel to a roadway on their right. Lyria quickly adjusted their course, aligning the transport on the roadway. Everyone felt their stomach lurch from the momentum shift, but Maple's was for a different reason.
Briggs walked over to her, placing his hand on her shoulder, "Hey Princess, why don't you walk over here and sit down for a bit." Maple gently nodded her head, but as Briggs tugged on her she remained in place, as if frozen in time. It was clear to him that Alyssa's death still refused to sink into Maples mind. Over at the back of the transport, Marcus seemed to be in the same state.
As Briggs turned to face Marcus, he felt a hand slam down onto his, still resting on Maple's shoulder. "I'll kill them. I'll kill them all no matter what it takes. Human, Alpha, Helix, it doesn't matter to me. They're going to pay." Maple's voice was cold and sinister, verging on the brink of madness. Briggs felt her hand begin to heat up. If her powers were to activate here, it could be problematic.
"Hey Marcus, you need to get over here. We need to get Ma-" Briggs was cut short as he felt the heat increase, scorching his hand. Maple suddenly let out a scream, her hands erupting into infernos as the flames licked their way up to her elbow joints. The iris of her eyes began to glow a deep scarlet, and she felt her chest begin to burn with a searing pain.

Before Briggs could react, Maple suddenly lashed out at him in a rage. Grabbing the arm he had extended, she latched on and spun, sending Briggs crashing into the far wall. The rest of Generation quickly sprang into action. Akatsuya and Germaine charged forward, aiming to grab her arms while avoiding the flames dancing up her arms.
Akatsuya managed to circle around and latch onto one arm while Germaine subdued the other. Maple lashed out again with kicks, blinded by her fury. Akatsuya smoothly sidestepped the kick with ease, but Germaine was unable to avoid the second one. The kick landed against his thigh with a thunderous crack, a kick powerful enough that it would've snapped his femur had he been a normal human being.
Seeing Germaine falter from the kick, Amanda sweeped in, kicking Maple's legs out from under her. As she fell to the ground, Akatsuya and Germaine moved behind to restrain her arms. The two men held her down while Amanda moved to check on Briggs who was still slumped against the wall. He was conscious, but was rattled from the force that he had slammed into the wall with.
Maple let forth another scream of anger, "Why? Why are we fighting to protect them? What good are they? They kill what they create and destroy what they are." The flames around her hands and arms began to burn more intensely, forcing Akatsuya and Germaine to release their hold. As they sprung back, Maple flipped up onto her feet and turned to face them.
To everyone, it looked like a fire itself was burning in her eyes. The scarlet glow they gave off reminded Akatsuya of some kind of demon, unleashed to bring punishment on those deserving. She suddenly charged with lightning speed. Rushing at Germaine, she quickly circled around to his right, throwing a barrage of punches.

Germaine brought his guard up, unable to find a window to counter. As each punch landed he could feel the flames devouring his flesh. Akatsuya leapt forth to break her attack on Germaine and allow him to recover. Germaine lowered his guard and stood his ground at Maple's flank. He would wait for Akatsuya to parry one of her blows and throw her off balance, then strike with enough force that it would knock her unconscious.
Maple lauched a barrage of punches and kicks at Akatsuya, switching from aiming for his head to his body. Even in her rage she had a deadly precision, capable of landing a fatal blow if not careful. Akatsuya avoided the punches as much as possible and aimed to parry a kick, considering it would be the least dangerous and most likely to cause her to reel back.
From behind a combination of hooks and jabs, Maple threw a kick aimed at Akatsuya's ribs. As the kick came up to greet him, he blocked it with his arm and quickly sweeped her other leg from under her. Before she could react and regain her footing, Germaine brought a hard fist directly down into her stomach, crushing her into the ground, slightly tilting the RTHV upward from the sudden shift in inertia.
Germaine wasn't happy to hit a lady with that much force, but she needed to be stopped. Maple let out a gasp as her body hit with enough force to shatter bone, but hers fortunately held together. Her vision was fuzzy from the impact and she couldn't make out who was around her. She slightly tilted her head forward, focusing on the table across from her.
Alyssa. Maple felt the fire begin to burn again, and her vision started returning. As she felt her anger begin to spiral again, she saw her father step over her. Red began to cloud her eyes once more, and she was firmly greeted with an impact to her forehead, throwing her into darkness.
Marcus looked down at his daughter. He hated to have to do that to her, but her outburst had brought him to his senses and he knew that his daughter needed him. She was perfectly fine, only unconscious. He lifted her off the floor, with Akatsuya's assistance, and laid her down in the corner, allowing her to get some much needed sleep.
Marcus walked over to Alyssa's body, a small tear welling up in his eye at seeing her. He gently removed his jacket and laid across her. It would be best for Maple to not have to see her like that again. As he turned to check on Briggs, Lyria's voice came over the speaker system, "I don't know what the hell just happened back there but we've got an issue." Ahead of them, blocking the roadway, was a small unit of Wolves. At the head of the group, a bright red mech stood firm, weapons leveled at the oncoming RTHV...

When they tell you 'a hero was summoned'. Do they expound on what it takes to truly be moved? Does it make sense to rip a hole within reality into another dimension, to a planet billions of galaxies away, and accurately transport a single person(s)? No, well truth be told, it takes a whole lot to summon anyone so far away, maybe it might take an attempt in summoning of a Dark God, to transport him. Then again they never tell you about what it means to travel between Dark Matter. Or what horrors exist there. Cover by Red Bluebery! I am a new writer, I am trying to find my style of writing.
