《Alone No More》Chapter 3

As Jura traveled closer to the trade route connecting the two cities, he started to survey the long expanse. Because he wasn't given an exact location of the caravan, he had to search for it himself. Jura softly sighed to himself as he thought of his older prototypes. He called it radar and it was supposed to create an image of any lifeforms within its range. Unfortunately, he failed at creating the signal that would detect the lifeforms or objects. There's only so much one seventeen year old can do.
Anyway, after Jura stepped foot onto the road, he looked both ways to determine which direction was best. Because of a certain torture technique he unwillingly had to go through, Breaker Z had to heal both of his eyes entirely. Due to this, his eyesight had increased significantly over the several times such a technique was used. Although he doesn't have superhuman sight, his eyes were still far better than normal.
The road itself was about twenty meters across, which allowed caravans and carriages to pass by each other. It was also a stone-based road, which was only changed in the last two decades. Before, the road was only a clear path of dirt. Rain would create large puddles of mud which would trap carriage wheels, ultimately halting caravans from traveling across the trade route. Of course, if there was either a water or an earth magician present with the caravan then they would be able to solve the problem.
The only reason why no earth magicians already created a stone route was because it would've taken way too long. There was tens of miles separating the two cities, so no earth magician, even a team of them, would want to waste their time creating a stone road. So, the two cities split the pay and paved a road themselves. Magicians aren't rare per se, but they usually hold themselves as a higher ranking than normal humans. That is especially so for certain magicians like Spirit and Gravity magicians. Even more so for the legendary elemental magicians, like the Void, Death, and Time magicians.
Anyway, Kyte closely observed the left road before turning his head to the right. He noticed a small black dot moving around in the air above the road. Jura instantly began to sprint in that direction. When he was close enough to perceive the entire caravan within his sight, he reached into one of the pockets inside his black robes and pulled a small radio. He pressed the top button and spoke into it:
"Destruction Squad, this is your Vice-Captain, Jura. What's the situation?"
"C-captain Jura! The caravan unexpectedly had a Spirit Master among the guards! Vars has already been gravely injured, sir! We are currently doing our best to defend each other from the Spirit Master's darkness spears, but it's almost futile." A rough voice passed through the speaker.
"I understand the problem. Don't worry, I already see the caravan and I am currently rapidly decreasing the distance between us. I'll arrive in less than one minute. Survive until I arrive, understood?"
"Yes, sir!"
Jura heard yells of excitement pass through his radio as he continued to sprint toward the caravan. He placed the radio back into his robe pocket before increasing his speed even more. A full thirty seconds had passed until he saw the distinct figures of his DS comrades. One of them created a wall of light in-front of his body, however, a black spear easily pierced through it. The spear passed the man's body before it slammed into the ground, trapping the man's body with it. Jura heard a voice come from the sky:

"Hahaha! Lowly basic magicians. You think you can compare to me, a Spirit Master?! Ha! Pathetic!"
Jura noticed the man in the sky. He had black wings that stretched out from his back and a black tail hung from his lower back. The man held a black spear in both of his hands as he looked down at the DS members below. Around the caravan were multiple corpses that laid in pools of blood. Jura's expression turned ice-cold as he cracked a faint smile.
When he was fifty meters from the Spirit Master, Jura flexed all the muscles in his legs before blasting off the ground toward the man in the sky. Small cracks spread out from underneath his feet and the wind whistled as he pierced into the sky.
Jura's speed was so quick that the Spirit Master was unable to see him until Jura arrived just before him. The Spirit Master tried to raise his hand to block, however, Jura's speed didn't decrease whatsoever. Jura outstretched his right arm and grabbed the Spirit Master's throat within his hand. The force behind Jura's speed made both of them shoot a hundred meters into the air before they stopped. The Spirit Master tried to speak, but because Jura's grip was so strong, only a couple syllables were capable of escaping his throat.
"Wh..at..?!"
While suspended in the air, and being horizontal to the ground, Jura raised his arm and spun his body 360 degrees before throwing the Spirit Master toward the stone road below. The air visually vibrated before the Spirit Master's body smashed into the ground, which created a small crater that caused cobweb-like cracks to spread out for several meters. Jura heard the relief-filled cheers from the DS members as he fell to the ground. Because he didn't have a method to slow his descent, the only thing he could do was wait for himself to slam into the ground.
Jura's feet connected with the ground, causing their own cracks to spread out. His black robes fluttered as the intense wind finally caught up with him; his white hair was roughly blown around before it slowly rested back to its original position. Jura coldly glared at the Spirit Master who was struggling to crawl out of the small crater. Jura noticed a hint of fear within the man's eyes as he realized who attacked him.
"B-...Black Death..." The man muttered.
Jura took one step and he was already before the Spirit Master. He retracted his arm and threw his fist downward, aiming toward the man's face. The Spirit Master's eyes intensely focused as he instantly reared back to avoid Jura's fist. He successfully dodged Jura's attack as he simultaneously manifested two black spears before launching them toward Jura.
Jura just stood there as the two spears smashed into his body. Jura wasn't even forced to take a single step back; not even his robes were harmed. In fact, the power behind the two spears were greatly diminished because of one certain component of Jura's robes. They were created from a type of Oclian fiber and a Darkness Cell. It took an entire year to finish the robes and another two months just to craft the boots and gloves. Fortunately, the defensive ability of the robes were fantastic.

If Jura's robes didn't have the Darkness attribute, those two spears would've definitely cut through them. However, because the robes had the Darkness attribute, its defense against Darkness attacks was greatly enhanced. Though, even with his robe's defensive ability, Jura still expected the Spirit Master's power to be greater than it was. Jura took one step and was once again in-front of the man. He stared into the man's eyes and spoke:
"You're pathetic."
"Stay away! I'm a Life Magician! The Mayor of Kard won't let you get away with this!"
"Life Magician? Hm, I've been meaning to have a test subject with an affinity for the Life Element. I haven't been able to create an Elemental Sphere of Life yet, so this will be a great opportunity."
"Test Subject?! The fuck are you talking about?!"
"You'll find out soon enough."
Jura made his hand into a fist before throwing it toward the man's face. He was surprised at the suddenness and speed of Jura's attack, so the only thing he could do is thrust his darkness spear toward Jura's fist. The gloves covering Jura's hands were created from Oclian fibers and a Darkness cell as well, so the outcome of the confrontation was to Jura's expectation.
The darkness spear was shattered into pieces as Jura's fist smashed through it and slammed into the man's hand. Loud cracks sounded out as the man screamed out in pain. His body was pushed back several meters before he landed on his back. He looked at his hand only to see a jumbled mess of bones and flesh. Blood dripped off the meat paste of a hand, creating small puddles of blood on the man's right side.
"AHHHHHH!! MY HAND!! IT FUCKING HURTS!! YOU BASTARD!"
"Oh? You think that's bad? Heh, you don't know what's coming."
Jura moved in-front of the man before he knelt down and glared at him.
"Your future punishment will be extra interesting because you almost killed two of my subordinates. Anyone who injures my men deserves pain beyond their imagination."
"Eeuuahh..."
The man uttered a low cry of fear as he saw Jura's cold, expressionless visage. A sudden spark of desperation flashed through the man's eyes as he reached out and grabbed Jura's arm.
"Life Steal!"
Instantly, Jura felt the energy in his body rapidly deplete. He ripped the man's hand away from his arm and backed a few paces away as he stared at the man. He noticed his raised hand, which had a small ball of energy in-front of it. The man looked up at Jura, with a hint of crazy in his eyes, and said:
"Life Extermination."
The ball of energy transformed into a pillar of energy that exploded toward Jura. The light pink-colored energy completely enveloped Jura's body as it surged outward. The air around it vibrated and the stone beneath it changed from gray to light yellow-orange as it was heated to a very high degree.
"Hahaha! Lowly human, no one can defeat a Life Magician! Know your pla-eh, what the?!"
An intense barrier of electricity manifested, completely blocking the blast of Life energy. A single swipe of the electric energy forced the Life energy backward into the Spirit Master. The energy smashed into the man's body, knocking him back multiple meters before he roughly landed on the dirt away from the road.
Jura stood in the same spot he was before, however, his entire figure was cloaked with intense electrical currents that danced around his body. Several different currents would explode with power and connect with the ground before returning to it's natural flow around Jura's body.
In his right hand was a weird sword. The blade was a light gray color, with a neon-blue line straight down the middle, and was connected to the sword's hilt by a black ball that emitted waves upon waves of lightning. The black ball floated between the blade and hilt, keeping both connected. On the blade itself were the numbers: 530095.
The Spirit Master, with his entire right arm missing, noticed those numbers.
"Numbered Breaker?!"
"So you noticed. It's not the best but it does its job."
The sword, as if responding to Jura's mixed comment, emitted a low hum that increased the amount of energy being manifested. Jura looked at the Spirit Master and silently thought to himself:
It's a good thing Breaker Z heals everything, even my Life energy. Otherwise, I would be dead right now.
"Now, I can't have you dying on me so I'll just have to knock you out before I heal you. Then I'll restrain your ability to use magic before I begin my experiments on your body."
Jura faintly smiled as he walked closer to the man. He looked over to his subordinates before slightly motioning with his head toward the caravan. They instantly understood Jura's signal as they rushed into the back of the large caravan. Jura turned back to the Spirit Master and controlled the electricity around him which then rushed toward the man's body. He was instantly paralyzed, and Jura made sure to cauterize the remaining section of the man's arm.
"Captain Jura, we have a problem!"
"What is it, Hazen?"
"The weapon isn't here. They probably used this caravan as a decoy."
"I see. Immediately make your way to my house inside the forest. Stop Vars' and Laxin's bleeding first. I'll be right behind you."
"Yes, sir!"
I thought as much. Transporting such an important item, why wouldn't there be a decoy? However, this Life Magician is already a large gain for me.
Third chapter! How'd you like the first action scene and display of Jura's power? He may seem OP right now, but just remember...there's 16 or more holders of Lettered Breakers. Also, Vilis is Jura's captain for a reason. It's only the 3rd chapter, so not all of Jura's capabilities have come to light. The same can be said for other characters.
So, how'd you like the story so far? Don't be afraid to comment! They're always appreciated.

Magic that is nascent and unexplained, one where you can be the one to Discover it, by delving dark dungeons or examining magical Beasts, by studying ancient scrolls or by finding lost gods, your Imagination is the only limit.” This is what Mike thought he was getting into when he lay down to play a new VR game, but fate had another thing in store for him, he was whisked away to a new world in another Dimension, with an AI fused to his body that refuses to let him treat this world as a game, all the while trying to make it as much like a game as it can. The only Objective he is given is to Discover Magic as he learns to survive and live in this new world, doing the best he can to not die, or even worse. *** Hi All! This is my story, it has been brewing in my mind in various forms for years. It will be rough, this is the first story I have written in a long time, so please help me make it as great as it can be! It is a High Fantasy adventure/Isekai LitRpg, it will have action and adventure, levels and dungeons, Elves, Dwarves and Gods. It is not a Virtual Reality story, though it will touch on some topics of artificial intelligence. The core focus of the story is going to be the discovery and deep delve in the magic system and fantastical elements of the world. Mana is used so often in LitRPG's but how often is it explained what mana is, magic is used in fantasy, but how often do you understand what it feels like. Magical races like Elves, Dwarves etc. often exist in stories, but why do they exist? and what truly makes them different from Humans and from each other? What is a God and where did they come from? These are the sort of topics that I want to really dive into in this series, all through the lens of a progression focused LitRPG. Thanks for reading!

The Cyclical Nature of Time
A girl’s life ends unexpectedly early, or so it would seem. Instead of eternal nothingness, she wakes up in an empty valley with no clue how she got there. Taking her predicament in stride, she sets out to do something about it. Unfortunately for her, the first couple of people she meets aren’t much help. They claim they haven’t heard of electricity and dress as if they were on a break from their job at a Viking-themed amusement park. MC is a somewhat normal girl. She's pragmatic and not very angsty. The story is tagged with anti-hero, but to be clear, she is not a villain. She does good if she can, she just isn't morally motivated to do so. The story starts out smelling of fantasy but will eventually shift towards sci-fi. It contains some supernatural elements and has a strong lead, but it is not your usual power trip. Expect a story that takes its time, but not to the point where entire chapters are spent on mindless chit-chat. I’m not into that. This is my first serious attempt at writing and I've learnt a lot writing this. Unfortunately, that shows. Chapter 1-10 is slow and rather pointless. Things get better, but it is not until chapter 25 or so that I began understanding how to structure chapters and to make them support the larger story. I publish about 3000 words a week (every sunday) but I write about 10000 words a week. Sticking to that pace, which is easy, the last chapter will be out by July.
