《I study magic, for destruction?》Chapter 17

“We are here!” Leah exclaimed, flames sparking from her fingertips.
“Aren’t you a little too excited?” I asked stoically, walking up next to her to gaze at the giant gates in front of us.
Witches, wizards, and fairies occupied the air as they passed overhead to enter the city, disappearing upon passing the gate into the transparent blanket. There was a strong barrier visible around the empty dirt plot, probably a detection field.
To the untrained eye, this may look like just an empty field. When the actual city is hidden behind that barrier.
“At least one of us has to have a tiny fraction of positivity. If we were both glum, I’m willing to bet negative energy would be emanating around us.”
Sigh. “And what a world it would be. A peaceful serenity. Oh wait, did you forget I am dying?” I chuckled, walking slowly through the gates.
I draped the torn blazer over my shoulders while holding my abdomen underneath.
Tsk. It’s a pain having to limit the amount of magic I can use. I could feel that mana has slowed its regeneration in me.
“How could I forget, I have my own reminder as well.” Leah said, pointing to her back, “how are you poisoned and not me? Did that Manticore not have poisonous claws?”
“It wasn’t the claws, but the tail.”
“The tail?”
I stopped outside the barrier. “Here, face me.” I ordered.
Leah tilted her head and lifted her eyebrow giving me that ‘the fuck’ look. She complied anyways and stood in front of me.
I shuffled my feet closer and leaned my face to hers. She leaned back, but only a little. The smell of citrus filling my nose. I stared in her bright round eyes and brought my free hand up. Her cheeks started to highlight.

“What are y—.”
I flicked her on the forehead and turned to face the barrier in one swift movement.
“What did I do this time!” She yelled, rubbing her forehead.
Were her cheeks flushed? And why does she sound flustered? Is she drunk on lynx juice?
“It’s for you having a bad memory, I thought flicking it would jog that small head of yours. I got hit by the thing’s tail. Manticore’s have scorpion tails. The tip must have grazed me then.” I looked behind me to see Leah with a softer look in her eyes, “Don’t worry, it’s nothing more than a rat.”
I gave a sly grin and turned back to walk through the barrier.
The whole landscape evolved. The dirt path turning into a wide white cobbled road that stretched straight into the tallest building in the middle.
The sides were lined with buildings compact together, leaving not even an inch of gaps between them. Buildings circled all around. The city is too damn huge.
“Wow.” Leah said in awe.
“Tsk. It’s going to be harder than it looks. Let’s split up.”
“Whoa it’s hu—. Wait! Let’s stay together.”
What a delayed reaction.
“Why? It’s more efficient if you take the West end and I’ll go East.” I questioned.
“B-because,” she stammered, “what if there’s someone who tries to pick a fight? You are in no state to fight back.”
“Bu—“
“We don’t have time to lose, let us start with going straight!” Leah interrupted, grasping one of my loose sleeves and dragging me behind.
Is her mouth a motor? Why isn’t there an off switch.
I looked down at my hand and tried to form an ice spear. I felt my body shiver and after a few moments, only a tiny shard appeared in my palm.

Tsk.
She has a point. I’m in no condition to use any kind of spell. Let’s just listen to the annoying princess for now.
We weaved through the bustling amount of people filled with humans and other races of the kingdom. Magic was being sparked overhead by people flying over the crowds with either a broom or flight magic.
Leah was naming off the kinds of shops besides us as we kept walking. The clanking of the blacksmith forging unimbued weapons and armor to the smell of simple pastries filling the air.
We reached the end of the cobbled road and stood outside the doors of the largest building in the center of the town. A small sign hung on the door.
The Cristalcrest Order.
“If we are going to find our healer, the biggest place would be the best start. Leo, let me do the talking.”
“Yeah, yeah. Do what you want. Just find me a healer.”
Ordering me around, the nerve. After this, I’m leaving the princess behind.

Jack and Jill Conquer the Shattered World
There are our bad friends. Friends who serve to bring the worst out of us. There are our good friends. Friends who inspire us to greater heights, support us, and sometimes act as an example for us. Then there are our good, bad, friends. The ones who get us out of trouble as often as they get us into it. The ones who are with you when you accumulate those stories that you’re probably better off never telling in public...for legal reasons. For Jilbert Sebastian, Jacqueline Marrow was all three at once. Kind, Brave, Hardworking, Loyal, Arrogant, Selfish, Impetuous, Glory Hungry, and the farthest thing in the world from risk-averse, Jack Marrow seemed bound to either be the hero or villain, or her own legend. Now it seems that young “Jill” is fated to be along for the ride. Bound to look after, and act as an accomplice to, the young runaway heiress as she sets off to find her fortunes and make her mark in the world. Fortunately, or unfortunately, it’s looking like he might not mind the situation as much as he claims. They’re best friends after all...and maybe a little bit more. Thus begins the tale of the legendary Empty Archivist Society. *Posted Weekly On Scribblehub, Royalroad, and My Patreon*

What if everyone in the world gave you $1? That’s what Hefty, a fat and cocky 14-year-old computer hacker tries to do. He bets on Bitcoin, and becomes a millionaire. Nevertheless, it’s short lived because Hefty is under the beck and call of his BPD mom. Hefty’s mom has leukemia. After seeing his mom’s hospital bill, he goes full tilt on the internet, selling crazy things on the Dark Web, like drones, drugs, and guns. And under his nose, someone’s been watching Hefty. Before he knows it, he’s abducted by ISIS and transported to Syria. ISIS’s chief tech officer was blown apart in an airstrike. All of ISIS’s money freshly minted into Cryptocurrencies. The passcodes in his mind blew up with the airstrike. The King of ISIS, forces Hefty to find the passcodes. At gunpoint, Hefty can’t say no, but tricks the King. The King makes a deal with him: If Hefty gets the money off the server, he gets to keep his life (and 10%). Hefty agrees and sees the amount from his 10%: $1.1 Billion in BTC. Drunk with money, Hefty joins the King and naively agrees to help ISIS, and starts buying everything he’s always wanted. He still misses home though, and after a google search brings up his mom, he throws bread crumbs through the internet. He creates digital trails throughout the back end of sites he hacks so people can find him. Even though his lifestyle is fun and exciting, ISIS starts to look less inspiring. Hefty sees the cruelty of ISIS’s cause and it disillusions him from thinking the Caliphate is noble. After some ISIS friends start dying, Hefty sees that war is dumb. Hefty tells his dying friend, on his last breaths, that he is going to take down ISIS. Mistake. With his last yells, his friend tattles on Hefty. Overnight, he goes from Multimillionaire to POW. The King gives him 2 options: blow up his favorite team on a game day of the Cleveland Browns, or his mother dies. Hefty chooses his mother. Within weeks, Hefty covertly writes software to defeat ISIS, leaving enough breadcrumbs to attract the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, General Tarvish. Acting quickly, General Tarvish works to find Hefty and uncover the Brown’s Stadium plot. Hefty finds a way to bomb the stadium, using an order that the president enacted putting all combat planes: no matter where over the US, had to be fully loaded and ready for war. Tarvish didn’t plan this into his counter measure. Hefty has set up ambushes against the Caliphate of ISIS… but the joke turns on him when he forgets to delete his code, and his terror attack on Brown’s Stadium goes off. Hefty’s location goes live, and an air campaign against the Caliphate starts. The US President angrily tries to drop a nuclear bomb on Hefty and the Caliphate. Tarvish kills the President before he can order the attack. The King flees by truck into the desert, but brings his cyber weapon: Hefty. Fed up, unafraid, and frankly pissed off, Hefty grows some balls and kills everyone in the car, giving the King his just reward, and careening down a mountain in the process.
