Chapter 32 The Demon’s Horn
I prepared myself for the worse before I ventured into the Demon Triad’s den. My golden armour was equipped along with my combat equipment. I didn’t inform anyone of my whereabouts. “Tonight I will embrace the pain of my past solo.”
[Thud! Thud!] I secured my presence atop a tall Elij-Plum tree which overlooked my childhood residence. As I observed the compound, memories of the time that I spent playing with papa in the courtyard began surfacing.
“We used to play tag down there. Papa would deliberately slow his speed to give me the illusion of moving faster. He was a cheater at board games too. Papa, now that I remember you, I miss you so much. Don’t worry papa you won’t be lonely for long. I will personally make sure that evil woman accompanies you. You can get revenge on her in the afterlife for all the bad things she did to you. ”
Finished remising about the fond memories of papa, I tossed out the chained-blade from my vambrace then swung to a tree that was closer to the main compound. Men in black wearing demon masks were positioned all over the place. The impression I received from observing them told me that they weren’t easy prey, unlike Mega Pop’s bland security detail.
These men in black had no visible weapon on their bodies. Not a blade nor a gun in sight. For the first time in my life, I felt threatened by unarmed men. “They must be hiding some hidden trump card. These minions wouldn’t be so careless with the protection of their boss.”
I waited until the guards moved away before hopping over the wall. [Thud!] The moment I secured my landing, I utilized my Shadow Crawler ability to blend into the darkness. [Whoosh!] Very stealthily I traversed the shadows of the mansion, eventually, I surfaced the darkness on a supporting roof frame inside.
From a bird’s eye perspective, there was a grand hall below me decorated with statues of animalistic figures boasting demonic horns. “I don’t remember this huge hall being here when I was smaller. Mommy must have destroyed the gym and made an expansion. I don’t see anything belonging papa anywhere. Not even those paintings that he loved.”
“The Demon’s Head has returned!”
Hearing this sudden outburst, I glanced below and recognized a muscular man stepping into the hall with a posse of men in black following behind him. “That man seems familiar.” I thought to myself.
The muscular man took off his coat and gave it to one of his minions. “Go get this clean for me. I spilt some ketchup on it on my way back.”
“Right away, sir.” [Chep! Chep! Chep!] The underling rushed out of the edifice with the thick coat hugged to his chest. He was a genuine bootlicker. I couldn’t stand the sight of such weakling.
“I’m feeling stuffed from all that food I just ate. Summon the War Demons. I want to speed up my metabolism and shed some sweat.”
“They will be here shortly, Demon’s Head.” Shortly after instructing his minions, the muscular man travelled to the centre of the hall and waited for the War Demons to come.
[Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!] Out of the blue, a strong visible wind rushed into the edifice, circulating the muscular man known as the Demon’s Head. As the wind started dissipating, I recognized the appearance of 5 vague figures donned in demon masks.

“What are those apparitions brandishing swords?” This scenery piqued my interest so I sat on the supporting roof frame and watched the battle unfolded.
“Come at me altogether!” [Clam! Clam!] The muscular man pounded his arms together while inviting the War Demons to attack. [Whoosh! Whoosh!] They all charged him simultaneously. Their movements were as blurry as the wind. I had no idea that other people who weren’t affiliated with the Assassin League of Black Scorpions could move like that.
“Don’t hold anything back!” As he beckoned his enemies, the muscular man was being assaulted from multiple angles. [Slash! Slash! Slash!] The War Demons were viciously cutting through his clothing, however, I recognized not a drop of his blood being spilt.
“How is he so tough?” As I pondered this realm of thought, the Demon’s Head tensed his muscles to an unprecedented degree whereas he started resembling a fully form monster. [Bulge! Bulge! Bulge!] He muscles burst through his clothing which generated an impacting shockwave that blasted away the surrounding War Demon, causing the edifice to rumble.
When the storm of muscles settled down, my eye caught a glimpse of the Demon’s Head back. “That bull shaped tattoo… I’ve seen it before. That muscular man… he’s the one who killed my father and tossed us into Mt Venom’s virulent abyss.”
Coming to this realization, my anger began to skyrocket. Throbbing veins started popping all over my body, even my camel toe vagina was tensed to its limit. I wanted to kill that man on the spot. My legs were already moving ahead of me, but before I could jump down, I heard somebody clapping while entering the hall.
[Clap! Clap! Calp!] “You overcame those War Demons splendidly my darling. Why don’t you end the sparing here for now before my hall is destroyed? I just finished getting this placed renovated and those statues cost a fortune.”
“As you wish my love. You heard her War Demon. Get out of here!” [Whoosh!] Just like a fart in the wind, the vague apparitions vanished from the edifice.
“My beautiful woman, I missed that sexy body of yours so much.” [Thud! Thud!] The muscular bull ran towards the beguiling empress who had just walked into the hall.
“Who..?” I shifted my position on the supporting wood to get a better look at the woman. Lo and behold it was the woman who disposed of me through her stinking snatch. “Mother?” She was wearing a loose fitted autumnal kimono which accentuated her evil self. Her hair was tall and billowing like the leaves. Seeing her in person, she looked just like a mature version of me. What pisses me off the most was when my eyes travelled to her boated stomach and analysed it.
“That bitch is pregnant?” This ticked me off so much I couldn’t keep my presence hidden anymore. My over boiling anger compelled me to jumped down. [Whoosh! Boom!] I crashed into the middle of the hall with such ferocity, the entire edifice shook briefly.
“Who dares enter my abode unannounced?!”
“Demon’s get in here immediately!”
[Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!] Before I could stand up straight, several War Demons surrounded, attacking from multiple angles.
“Piss off!” I let my anger soared by unleashing the deadly sharpness of my dual vambrace. I flipped over into the air while twirling around with my chained-blades forming a cutting cyclone. [Slash! Slash! Slash!] I continued my momentum until all of the War Demons’ heads were decorating the floor. [Splat! Splat!]

“The War Demons were killed so easily? Who the hell is that intruder?” I recognized the trepidation rolling off of the muscular man’s tongue. He called in more security but I cut them all down the same.
“She’s unstoppable! Niruha I have to get you and the baby out of here.”
“Not so fast. Everyone stop attacking that aberrant, you’re clearly no match.”
“Huh?” I never expected mommy to call off her demons. Unlike the muscular man who supported her stance, she was rather calm and composed.
Mommy came from behind her baby father’s grasp and stared directly into my eyes. “You’re dressed in golden armour, moreover, you are a splendid killer. You must be that infamous assassin I heard so much about. What was it you call yourself again? Tainted Scorpion?”
“Yes, I am.”
“Ho, your voice sounds rather menacing. So I reckon that a rival competitor contracted you to claim my head? Aren’t you tired of being someone else’s war dog? If you pledge your allegiance to me I promise that you will be well taken care of.”
“Shut your mouth! I wasn’t contracted to kill you! I came here of my own volition!”
“What? No one hired you to kill me? Then why did you show yourself in my presence?”
“Why you ask? Fu-hu-hu-hu! See for yourself.” I removed the mask from my face, letting my appearance shown its full radiance.
“That’s face! What is this sorcery?” The muscular man exclaimed. “Niruha why does that assassin looks exactly like a younger version of you? Am I the only one who is seeing this? Are my eyes deceiving me?”
“What a shocking resemblance. It’s like looking in the mirror of my past.” [Bzz! Bzz!] “Huh, my phone?” Mother answered the incoming call. When she hung up, I recognized a devious change in her expression which startled even her bulky lover.
“Sweetheart who was that on the phone?”
“Fu-hu-hu-hu!” She began showing a sinister smile on her face.
“Niruha who was it?”
“Fu-hu-hu-hu.” Mother’s laughter gradually faded, reducing the repulsive echoes which permeated the hall. When her lips stilled, she tossed her phone on the ground and crushed it with her foot. [Stamp!] “I just received a piece of troublesome news from Bone Elder. It is now clear to me why this assassin shares my younger appearance.”
[Step! Step! Step!] Mother came down the platform by herself. She moved her legs until she arrived within my breathing space. What she did next startled me into temporary paralysis. She placed her hand on my cheek then said with an artificial affection of care:
“So you’ve survived all these years, my dear daughter. What took you so long to seek me out?”
“Mommy I…” Something came over me which made me acted submissive for a moment. Tears poured out of my eyes instead of anger. ‘What’s going on with me? Why am I crying? I should be impaling my sword through this bitch’s belly and yet I can’t find the strength to?’
“It’s okay my child, you’ve returned to your owner now. Poor thing. I can’t imagine the struggle you must have been through all these years without proper guidance from your mother. You might have noticed that I’m pregnant. Why don’t you say hi to your little sister?”
“My little sister…?” As I stared at my mother’s fat tummy my mind went blank for a moment. ‘That’s right. This woman is having the child of that bulky gangster who killed my father and tossed me away. Now I remember why I came here. It wasn’t to seek my mother’s affections nor approval, it was to avenge papa and carry out vengeance!’
I snapped out of the trance which hindered the execution of my vengeance. It was a good thing I came too when did. Because the moment I took my gaze away from mommy’s tummy, a sharp needle which originally kept her hair up was slashing towards my neck. [Whoosh!] I shifted my body to dodge the unexpected strike, unfortunately, I wasn’t fast enough. Due to this, I lost an eye in the process.
[Thud! Thud!] I created some distance between us. While covering my damage face, I glared intensely at my mother who was pulling my eyeball from her pointy hairpin. “Mommy! Why did you do that?”
“Why? Fu-hu-hu-hu. Aren’t you an assassin? You did come here to kill me, didn’t you? That was why I decided to strike you first. Too bad I only managed to claim your eyeball though. I was aiming for your carotid. Please forgive my lack of technique. I may not be as skilful as you in the arts of murder.”
[Thud! Thud!] “Sweetheart, that was dangerous. Stay back and let me protect you.” The muscular man came standing between me and my mother. My smile broadened when I saw just how much he cared about my mother’s stomach.
“Good! Very good! You’re that bulky man from back then who took my father away from me and tossed us into the pit of Mt Venom. I will make you suffer as I did.”
[Fwoosh!] Vanishing from my initial position, I reappeared beside my mother with my poisonous blade thrusting downwards at her tummy. “Yah! I won’t let this baby born!”
“Tsk, tsk. Foolish child. Do you take your mother for a weakling?” [Whoosh!]
“How is this possible?” I couldn’t believe what had just happened. My blade which was supposed stabbed straight through mommy’s tummy and cut apart her unborn child unexpectedly turned into autumnal petals which got carried off by the wind.
“What sort of sorcery is this?” As I stood there pondering about the origin of my shock, I dropped my guard, allowing the muscular man to charge at me.
“RAAAAH! Get away from my woman!” [Dum! Dum! Dum!] “Demon’s Bull Rush!” [Boom!] From out of somewhere, a massive fist slammed into my side which sent me crashing into a rigid statue. My left arm along with my leg got broken due to my terrible mishap.
“I now realize that the Demon’s Head and Demon’s Horn couple will not be so easy for me to assassinate. Still… I won’t be going to hell empty-handed.”

Can't say he's lucky, as his life went downhill from that point... Our story happens years later, when his fate decides to make a loop and throw him in the same kind of accident. Surviving the crash, suffering just a few scratches, he is ultimately "lucky" to find himself out of the hospital in no time.. however every bit of good luck always brings him terrible luck afterwards. This time pushing him maybe a bit too far.. How far? Making him vanish without a trace and find himself in the middle of an unknown forrest. Doesn't sound bad? He can consider himself lucky? Just wait and see...It can always get worse.. always.. .... Congratulations, you've made it through the intro and into the author note! If you by any chance missed the tags and didn't read the warning, please do that now. I really recommend you to. Before you jump to reading, and unintentionally scar yourself, do mind that the story is about a dark, unforgiving world, a world in which you have more opportunities to die a horrible death, than take a piss. Hero doesn't have great luck, he has dumb persistance, he doesn't go through any trial with a breeze, he pays the price of blood, flesh and tears to live..and will be paying for every mistake.. No one outright explains anything to him, just as us for the most part - he is not sure what the hell is going on.. Some real survival tactics are used as a base of the descriptions, they are as important to the world and character as any other element.. Mind that the story starts really slow, but as the stone starts rolling downhill - the pace gets faster.. Every tag for this novel has a reason to be there, so if you don't see the particular element there, don't panic.. it's either well camoufalged, subtle or simply not encountered as of yet. Big thanks to Hobbo, Enyhrye and Hveth! ...not only pointing that the description could be better, but providing invaluable input.. and being patient enough to give fleshed out advice.

World Essence. The mysterious energy coursing throughout the entire land of Vor'ten, and very possibly the entire world. This energy has allowed humanity to flourish, building great empires and vast kingdoms, conquering nature itself with just a sweep of their hand. Humans were the strongest existence, and with the help of channeling this World Essence, many were able to turn into Magic Knights, gaining magical abilities to combat the various fierce beasts throughout the lands.Alas... those glory days of old were long gone. Humanity has now been pushed to the brink of destruction, and now the remaining members of the human race are encased within giant domes known as 'Alkkras', made with the last remaining bits of the World Essence. It was said that those giant domes were the last gifts left by the remnants of the ancient human race, as a means to protect the future generation from the attacks of the many wild beasts roaming outside. Five Spiritualist Invokers, all combined together, used the last bit of the World Essence and sacrificed their lives to lay a gigantic, 1028-seal formation magic array to form these barriers, forever saving humanity, but also trapping humanity within these barriers. However, the humans were never completely helpless. No matter how little World Essence was left, the humans still had some remaining. Realizing the incoming crisis, the humans found a way to seal World Essence inside a special type of crystal. Soon, these crystals began to become implanted into weapons, turning them into World Essence Weapons, and they began to display properties of their own. Extreme heat. Bone chilling cold. Absurd sharpness. These normal weapons, after being imbued with the energy of the World Essence Crystals, began to form natural affinities to elements. Fire. Water. Earth. Wind. Darkness. Light. Using these weapons, one could become a Chevalier that wielded the power of the elements. However, if one wanted to reach a higher level of enlightenment and understanding, one could become an Invoker. Via the study of magic array formations, one could directly use the power of the World Essence to cast devastating magics upon the enemy. These people were Invokers, highly valued for their combat potential by the Army. These weapons and magical arrays were used in the great fight between the humans and the beasts long ago. They had long since been put away in storage, almost long forgotten...However, after ten-thousand years of suppression, the human race is beginning its counterattack against the Beasts... Synth was an Invoker in the Magecroft Academy. However, his talent was terrible, being only at the Spark Stage. This led to him being looked down upon and bullied. He was unable to cast any Calamity-rank or even Destruction rank spells, and was only able to cast Coalescing rank spells at the age of 17, a record low in the academy for cultivating these rare Invokers. Even though he put in more effort than anyone else, he was still unable to advance his Channeling Energy. But due to his constant research and study, Synth ended up creating a power that would go against the heavens - he had found how to Fuse spells together. After trying it out once, merging the magical array for the Small Fireball and the Mortal Judgement skills, he was able to create a mid-rank Destruction tier spell, Holy Judgement Flame. However, after this, no matter how hard he tried, he was unable to fuse more spells together or even cast them, and noticed a weird, pentagram shaped formation on his left arm. He would later call this mark the Fusion Magic Hex, a curse that prevented the wielder from casting magic that wasn't their own...This meant that with the exception of Synth's newly created skill, , he was going to have to create unique magic arrays if he ever wanted to step on the path of becoming an Invoker! This power that destroyed the laws of the Invoking System, and his unyielding persistence in testing and creating new spells, would later gain Synth the nickname the Unique Fusion Hex, and lead him to become one of the strongest beings in the entire World!
