《Nandemonogatari: The Story of Something Else》Chapter 11 - The Story of Revelry

As everyone else continues preparing, Akina is staring at the uniform in her hands. She throws it violently back on the table. ”I. Will. Not. Change. Into. This,” she says while turning away and walking to the bleachers in the gym. “I could annihilate the baseball club easily, instead.”
Yuuri hears this and rushes to Akina, with her arms not in her shirt. “Miss Gedou, please! We won’t need to annihilate anybody if we just do this!”
Mayumi steps behind Yuuri, already changed into a too small uniform. “You really don’t have a choice in the matter, edge girl. Put the damn outfit on.”
Yuuri follows up with a polite smile while holding the uniform meant for Akina. “Come on, Miss Gedou! Even Miss Asuka is happily helping us out!” She points to Mayumi’s face, who doesn’t even attempt to smile.
Akina climbs to a higher bleacher and sits down. “My normal clothes should be fine. They look like an ouendan outfit anyway.”
Mayumi grabs the uniform out of Yuuri’s hands and throws it at Akina. “Your normal clothes make you look like a bitch boy trying to be hard.” She walks up the bleachers to Akina in the eyes. “Wear the fucking uniform.”
Akina doesn’t flinch, instead staring back just as nastily. “Make me.”
“You sure you want to try that, cherry girl? Because I've got a loooooot of anger I wanted to unleash all over that drama bitch's face, but you'll do just fine.” Mayumi says while not taking her eyes off Akina.
Yuuri quickly climbs up the bleachers and gets between them “Hey now, girls, save that energy for the cheering!” She has a smile on that looks like it’s hiding fangs.
Mayumi and Akina continue their staredown, but then Akina turns to Yuuri and says, “There’s no point, anyway. I’m no good at smiling.” Mayumi thinks better of continuing the argument and moves back to finish her makeup.
The moment is interruped by a squeaky “Seeeenpaaai!” behind her. She turns around to see Kirika beaming, fully dressed. “How do I look, senpaaaii~?!” She strikes a cheer pose.
Yuuri’s smile gets more legitimate, saying, “Oh Kirika, you look adorable!” She then has a realization. “Oh, I almost forgot to finish getting dressed myself!” Yuuri slides her arms into the cheering top. After she does, she pulls at it slightly. “It looks like this one’s a little tight for me…” She jumps down to go collect her purse.
While Yuuri fishes around in her purse, Katsuki comes up to her. “Hey, Yuuri, do you think we should make up some cheers, or should we just improvise them?”
Mayumi hooks an arm around Katsuki’s shoulders. “Pres, do you really think they give a shit what we cheer? I could go out there and say ‘Two–four–six–eight, Drama kids just masturbate!’ and it’d have the same effect as anything else.”
Akina climbs down the bleachers, holding her uniform, and asks the group “So, if they don’t give a shit, should I go beat the drama club up to speed this up?”
Kirika crosses her arms in a X. “You’ve hurt enough people you... people-hurter!”
Cerys puts her foot down. “If we have to do this then you have to as well.” She then narrows her eyes at Akina. “Don't try to sneak out of this.” Akina’s scowl intensifies after she finishes talking
Katsuki tries to improve the mood by adding in some spirit. “We’re all in this together! You know, what the asshat said, power of friendship or something!“

Mayumi unhooks Katsuki, and straightens her posture. “Edgegirl, nobody ever told you there’s strength in numbers, did they?” She pulls Yuuri and Cerys beside her.
Akina looks around and sighs “I’ll help, but I won’t wear that ugly outfit.”
Kirika lights up “Yay, looks like we’re all in then! I even finally came up with a cheer!” she turns to her bat familiar. “We’re BATTY for our Bat-boys!” She then turns and begins to do a small cheering dance. “Bat boys, bat boys! What you gonna do, what you gonna do when they come for you?”
They all stare at Kirika for a moment, none of them wanting to put down Kirika’s spirited attempt. Yuuri claps slightly, “W-well, I’d like to give my own idea! How about, "M–I–Y–A Who's gonna win? F–U–J–I Who's it gonna be? MIYAFUJI MIYAFUJI GOOO!”
Cerys turns back to Akina, trying to forget what she just saw. “Akina just put it on, maybe you'll look cute in it.” Akina immediately counters with a flat “No.”
Yuuri steps into the center of the group. “AH–HEM! Hey, hey! We don’t have time to be fighting right now!”
Kirika fidgets nervously, “I-I don’t want to fight but th-the new girl isn’t capable of not fighting…”
Akina leans in towards Yuuri with a balled fist “I’m not the one trying to force someone else into a cheerleading uniform!”
Mayumi leans against a nearby wall “It’s not forcing, you stupid bitch. It’s something we all have to do together. Nobody wants to see your flat, man-jawed ass dressed like a hardass, they want to see your flat, man-jawed ass dressed like a cheerleader.”
Yuuri coughs again to try and get the two’s attention back onto her instead of each other. “WHAT SHE MEANS IS you need to put it on so that we can go defeat the Drama Club.”
Akina looks at Mayumi for a moment and smirks. She turns her attention to Yuuri. “Okay, how about this deal. I'll wear it.” She then says with a snarl, “And later I beat manners into our druggy.”
“If you think you can dance with the Queen Bee and not get stung, go right ahead.” Mayumi returns a smirk towards Akina.
Yuuri once again tries to bring down the tension in the room by happily clapping her hands and saying with a smile. “So go put on your uniform, Miss Gedou!”
Akina finally relents, undressing to reveal some impressive abs. Akina quickly gathers the uniform and puts it all on, conveniently still showing her midsection. Yuuri couldn’t help but comment. “Miss Gedou, is this what you were embarrassed about? You’re so fit!”
Akina tugs on the hem of the top, saying back “These clothes are too girly. That’s why I didn’t want to wear them.” She rubs her abs and looks down, “This feels wrong.”
Mayumi says, “They’re girl clothes. Looking girly is the point. What did you expect, Edgy?” She hikes up her skirt, and pulls out a boxcutter to cut extra cleavage into her top. Yuuri sees this then looks down, and pulls her top down even more to make sure it’s secure around her chest.
Kirika catches herself staring at Mayumi, then turns around and says, “I don't think you needed those… modifications, Mayumi-senpai. You looked beautiful as it was!”
Mayumi looks at Kirika, genuinely surprised, “You really think so, kid?”
Kirika nods, causing Mayumi to think for a moment, only being brought back to her senses by the PA system suddenly screeching to life and announcing the beginning of the contest. She shakes her head. “Nah, gotta work the tricks. I got it, so I gotta flaunt it.” She pulls a pill bottle from between her breasts, downs one, and smiles at Kirika. “Thanks though.” She then follows Yuuri out onto the field.

The stands are surprisingly full, and drama club is on the opposite side of the field. Ame is staring daggers at the entire club, only resulting in Mayumi flipping her off. The effect is diminished by Kirika furiously waving at everyone all around from behind Mayumi, energetically begging everyone to like her.
Akina looks around with her arms crossed, with a scornful look on her face. Instead of complaining, she decides to just ask Cerys, “I wonder which bitch will win out, ours or theirs.”
Cerys shrugs, her pom poms shaking slightly with her movements. “I hope ours, I’d hate to do all this and then lose.”
Yuuri steps between the two, placing her hands on their shoulder, and looks between them. “Well then, all we have to do is give our best and win then!”
The two move out from under her grip, then in unison say “If we lose, I’m blaming you.”
Hisanori yells out to the Paranormal cheerleaders. “I know you have no training but I believe in you! Good luck!” The group gives him an icy glare, besides Kirika, who claps at his ‘rousing pep talk’, and Mayumi, who makes a throat cutting gesture.
Yuuri closes her eyes and takes a few deep breaths. “Okay, other me, don’t come out and ruin this for us.”
Akina glances around the stadium, radiating death at anyone who even vaguely seems to be staring at her ads. Once she realizes they aren’t dropping dead, she sighs and looks back to the group. “So, what do we do?”
Yuuri breaks her meditation to look back up at Akina with a bright smile. “Well, we… cheer, and jump and stuff!” She then jumps and shakes her pom poms for added effect.
The announcer begins “Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to another great Miyafuji High game! As always, before we begin the game there’ll be the traditional cheerleading competition to get our team fired up for victory! Today’s challenge is the Paranormal club vs the Drama club, so welcome these two fantastic teams!”
The crowd cheers as the announcer pauses before moving on. “Each team takes a turn doing a cheer, with the Paranormal Club winning the coin toss to go first. Cheers must be performed one at a time, with each member getting a chance to show their stuff! This will continue until one side has gained unanimous victory!”
Another break for applause, which is soon replaced by high-energy music as the announcer continues “Out first, let's hear it for the one, the only, PARANORMAL CLUB!!!”
Mayumi puts on her best fake smile and stretches her arms, adding a jump as she shakes her pom poms to give the crowd a little extra jiggle service. Kirika waves even harder to the crowd as Cerys and Akina give their poms a light shake, both letting out a stone-faced monotone “Hooray”.
As the Paranormal club finish their entrance and the applause calms down, the Announcer picks back up. “And their competition for tonight, the beautiful actresses always full of tears and laughter, the DRRRAAAMA CLUB!!!”
Ame strides confidently onto the field, her club behind her. As the team takes their places, Ame does a handspring into a backflip over Yuuri as she lands she turns and smirks at Yuuri, causing Yuuri to get agitated.
The announcer’s voice booms out, “It looks like these girls are energetic today! Let’s see how they channel that energy into their cheers, up first we have the Paranormal club showing us how they support their baseball boys!”
Yuuri smirks and confidently gets into position, squatting down as she says “Go! Go!” She then springs up and flips backwards, with a loud “MIIIIYAAAFUU-” She’s cut off by the impact of the ground on her ass, as she over rotates the flips. She blushes hard, shaking her pom-poms in front of her face to hide it and manages to yell out “G-g-go team!” in an effort to save it. She looks over to see Ame laughing and pouts.
Kirika steps forwards quickly and begins to wave and bounce to the crowd to cover up for Yuuri. She yells, slightly too loudly, “Win or lose, our team is ours! They may move slow, they can’t score high! But this team has some great guys!” She throws her arms up with a shake of her pom poms as her bat does a big flip for emphasis. “We’re with you, team!”
The crowd begins clapping and cheering, causing Cerys to sense the momentum and she decides to go next, stepping forward only to do three consecutive backflips that end with her doing a split with her arms raised and her pom poms shaking. “Our team can’t be beat… uh… by anyone! Go… go team?”
Mayumi doesn’t bother with her pompoms, instead turning around and pretending to trip, causing her to flash her lace-covered ass to the entire crowd. Katsuki, feels the need to cover the shame of her clubmate and dashes between the crowd and Mayumi’s panties. She looks frozen in thought for a moment, then begins to wave her arms and yells out "ONE–TWO–THREE–FOUR, THE OTHER TEAM IS FULL OF WHORES!" The cheering stops, giving her another moment to think. Once she then realizes what she said, she hangs her head in shame.
Akina paces out and, giving it her best to appear even remotely interested, halfheartedly shakes her pom-poms and mumbles out something too low to hear. She then tries to do a cartwheel, but does it too carelessly and falls flat on her back.
Yuuri looks over the shamble of her club and bites her lower lip. She tries to raise everyone’s spirits by saying “M-Maybe the Drama Club will do even worse!”
As the Paranormies wobble their way back to their sideline, the announcer’s voice booms out “Ah, er…Well, that was some…unique cheering! Give it up for the Paranormal Club!” A few scattered cheers, polite claps and a wolf whistle later, he brings it back in. “And now, feel the energy as you witness the theatrics of the Drama Club!”
The Drama Club take their spots, a well oiled upstaging machine. “Let’s show these losers what real cheerleading is like,” Ame says smugly. She rolls her pom-poms to rile up the crowd as Aikawa floats beside her. And into a pom pom punch.
Aikawa grabs her face, checking to make sure her nose isn’t broken., “I’m ok, I’m ok!” she says to Ame. “I’m sure you didn’t mean it”
Ame scowls, then shoves her hard into the center of the field. Aikawa stumbles, recovers, and puts on a dazzling display of cheerleading. When she finishes, the roar of the crowd is deafening.
Yuuri sits on the grass and frowns, embarrassed in many ways.
The next Drama Club member steps forward, visibly nervous but still cheering hard. They finish off their cheer with a slow high kick, which in his excitement didn’t realize exposed his bulging panties. After it dawns on him, he quickly pulls his skirt down and runs away shrieking. As he runs away he runs directly into one of clubmates knocking them both out.
A Kobun look-alike is standing around staring into space when Ame walks up to him and chops him on his chest, “Hey get your head out of your ass and start helping us!” She punctuates her statement by pushing him onto the field. He gets to the center and stares blankly at the crowd frozen in fear. Ame runs out to grab him and drag him off.
The PA system crackles to life once more. “Uh… The drama club, ladies and gentlemen! Give ‘em a round of applause!” Once more, the polite clapping begins and someone gets escorted out for loudly yelling “BRING THE BOY IN THE SKIRT BACK OUT.” The announcer continues “Fortun- Er, now that everyone’s properly excited, it’s time to start the main event! Here comes MIYAFUUUJIJIIII HIIIIIGH!” The cheerleading teams leave the field as the game begins. They sit on opposite sidelines, watching the game in silence.
Just before the fourth inning begins, a school official visits them on the sideline. “There will be another round of cheerleading to hopefully keep the rest of the crowd from leaving for the rest of this game”.
“You want us to go get embarrassed again?” Yuuri says.
He puts a hand on her shoulder and looks into her eyes. “It can’t be any worse than what’s happening to the baseball team.” He stands up and leaves.
Katsuki hears this and stands up, walking in front of the group, then turns around to face them. “This is our chance to make up for what happened earlier. I know we can do better than that, right?” She says with gusto, but nobody really responds. Mayumi is zoned out so far she might as well be in another country. She pouts to herself for a moment, then speaks up even louder. “Guys, this is a second chance! You don’t get do-overs like that all the time! We can still show up those drama queens!”
As the players leave the field and the cheerleaders take it, Katsuki’s words awaken something in Mayumi. She remembers better days. Happier days. Days where she gave a fuck. As the words hit her soul, the drugs hit her brain. She races to the center of the field, dancing, giggling and jiggling past everyone else. With a way too perky voice, she yells "Hey, let’s see ‘Fuji play! Hey, let’s see ‘Fuji play! YAAAAAAAY~!" Her top almost flies off but is caught by Yuuri before it gets too R18 in here.
Yuuri looks Mayumi in the eyes, "Miss Asuka, what has gotten into you?!"
Mayumi continues to dance and jiggle for the crowd while talking to Yuuri "School spirit! And drugs! But mostly school spirit!" Yuuri gives her a confused look but pulls her back to make space for Kirika.
Kirika walks forward, shaken by Mayumi’s shaking. She tries to remember her father’s words, but can only think of Mayumi. She yells “TWO–FOUR–SIX–EIGHT, JUST STAY HOME AND MASTURBATE!” She looks at Mayumi for approval, but suddenly blushes and runs behind Katsuki once she realizes what she said.
Yuuri attempts to take the attention off of Kirika and runs over to one side of the field. She says a silent prayer for her nimbleness and gets into a runners pose and zooms down the field before doing a front flip. She follows it up with a corkscrew, cat ears and tail popping out in mid air. She lands in a crouch, tail swaying, perched like a cat. She breathes heavily, and then realizes that nothing had gone wrong, "Our team will pawsitively win!"
She hears a loud cheer coming from right behind her and she turns to see Kirika coming to give her a hug. “Well done, senpai! You did it!” Yuuri returns the hug too tired to say words at the moment.
Cerys whispers something into Mayumi’s ear, at which Mayumi nods and runs back towards the field, head down. Cerys runs up from behind her, leaps onto Mayumi’s shoulders, then jumps off, doing a flashy front flip before landing in front of the other girl. She raises her left pom-pom and yells “Go go team let’s beat uhhh… whoever we are playing!”
Katsuki runs up behind Mayumi, wanting to do her own flashy aerial trick. She jumps, Mayumi stands, and Katsuki kicks her in the back of the head. The momentum makes Katsuki flip and faceplant. She and Mayumi land in a heap; Mayumi knocked out and Katsuki rubbing her head.
The rest of the Paranormies gather around the two, Yuuri giggles and says “They should leave jumping to the ones who always land on their feet, nya.” She turns to Akina, “Can you drag these corpses back to the litter box?” Akina shrugs and drags them back to the benches.
The announcer clears his throat as the two baseball teams force everyone else off the field. “A-Anyway I think that wraps up the cheerleading competition! Thank you to both clubs for participating and stick around after the game to find out the winner! Go Miyafuji!”
Ame rushes the announcer box and throws her pom-poms on the ground. “What?! They got to go twice! That isn’t fair!” As she starts screaming obscenities, two security guards grab her. She fights, but they overpower her and sling her over their shoulders. She spits and crosses her arms as she’s carried off the field.
“It seems like one of the Drama Club members is furious, too bad I totally can’t hear what she’s complaining about!” the announcer quips. “Now let’s get on with the game!”

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
