《Moonlight Sword Sect》Eumi's Journey To The Forbidden Mountains (2/5)

"Are you sure this is the right path? I feel like we're going in circles." Sister Xiare asks me as we go to deeper in the forest.
"I'm sure. Well, the mister said so.." I replied back.
Right now we are deep in the forest, searching for the shrine gate that will lead us to the mountains. Although it looks like we are lost, This lady is following the path the mister pointed at earlier— northwest.
"I think the guy you asked earlier is intentional misleading us to go into the wrong path." Sister Xiare said.
"I don't know…" I respond back, with an uneased expression on my face. The mister earlier shouldn't be that much of a dishonest person right? Uuuuuu….
"Let's go back and smack that guy's head." Sister Xiare looks at me then looks behind us.
Umm… sister Xiare, I hate to say this but that mister's cultivation is at the fourth realm. We wouldn't even last a second if we fight that mister.
How did I know that mister's cultivation realm level? Because of a certain passive ability the sect master taught me. That skill increases my awareness and perception and thus, I know everyone's cultivation realm level on the back of my palm.
Except if someone uses a skill that hides their cultivation level or blocks anyone from seeing his or her cultivation, that is.
"I think we should look around more. Maybe the mister isn't lying at us?" I answer back to sister Xiare.
Sister Xiare looks at me for a while before saying, "Fine. We don't really need to rush anyways."
I look above to see where the sun is at. The sun is still on the eastern side of the sky, implying that it's still morning.
Since elder fairy's wedding will start tonight, I still have a plenty of time to spend.
But I need to hurry to catch up to elder fairy Hyuxia's wedding though. I'm not gonna let this event pass.
Quickly, I fasten up my pace, dragging sister Xiare with me. I need to find my master real quick to catch up with elder fairy Hyuxia's wedding.

Weirdly, sister Xiare looks at me with such eyes. Hey! Please don't look at me like that okay?
As we go deeper and deeper in the forest, sister Xiare notices something. She then stops me from walking before saying, "Eumi, do you not find that this forest is quite weird?"
As I have no time for wasting time, I quickly replied, "No." I continue walking after that.
Once again, sister Xiare stops me. Will you please stop that?
"Take a look around first before walking." She said.
I look at her from behind and then look at my surrounding. There is nothing but tall trees and rocks around us. What's so strange about it?
While I'm looking at the trees and rocks around us, sister Xiare continues her talk, saying, "Do you not find it weird that there are no beasts around us?"
Come to think of it, I do find it weird that there's no else but us.
"I do find it weird." I reply back.
"I think that we should be within the forbidden mountain's area right now. There's also weird rocks around us. Do you not find it strange?"
I nod back and take a look at the rocks. The color of the rocks white instead of a usual gray.
This kind of rocks can be only found near volcanoes though. Weird.
"Let's continue." I said. Sister Xiare nods back as I once again, drag her to our destination by holding her hand.
From time to time, I take a look above while sister Xiare looks around us, stopping whenever she finds something strange. From a strange white rock to a tree with bells hanging around it. Although it looks strange as there is no one living in the forest, I feel like we are nearing the shrine we are supposed to go at.
"Hey." Sister Xiare gently pulls my kimono to make me notice her.
"Hmm?" I reply back. Somehow, I can't see the shrine despite walking northwest. Why is this shrine so difficult to find? Sigh… it seems that this lady here is slowly losing hope.

"Can you hear it?" Sister Xiare said to me as she closes her eyes to listen at something.
"Hear what?" I reply back. I do not hear anyone but you talking to me.
"Shhh don't speak." Sister Xiare softly replies back to my question. Is sister Xiare playing tricks on me?
Well since we are already deep in the forest and have nothing to lose, I shut my mouth up and calmly listen to the surroundings.
*shhhhhhh… shh….* It was a sound of something crashing onto something.
Just as I say something to sister Xiare about the sound, sister Xiare opens her eyes again and said, "Follow me" to me. She then heads to the western part of the forest instead of the direction the mister told me.
This time, It was sister Xiare dragging me instead of me dragging sister Xiare. Although her hand is tightly grasping my hand, I can easily stop her from dragging me as I am stronger than her in terms of both cultivation level and physical strength.
Though I don't want sister Xiare to lose face at me. Tee hee~
As we go to the western part of the forest, the sound I heard earlier is becoming more and more louder than before.
"If my guess is right…" Sister Xiare was murmuring at something. Although it was a soft murmur, I can hear it as I am not too far away from her. Obvious right?
"Xiare." Sister Xiare looks at me and says my name before continuing, "It looks like we are nearing a sea."
"Eh? A sea? But we haven't found the mountains yet right?" I respond back to sister Xiare. What sea? We have to find the mountains first!
"We have to find the forbidden mountains first!" I exclaim.
"What if the mountains is an island near the sea? And the shrine is a dockyard instead?" Sister Xiare spoke back at me with a smile on her face.
Although it sounds barbaric, at the very least, it's very plausible that the forbidden mountains are actually an island instead.
Silently, I think about it. After I while, I nod at sister Xiare and say, "It's possible that the mountains are an island. You lead the way Xiare."
Sister Xiare nods back in return and continues walking while dragging me as we go to the western side of the forest.
While heading to the forest, sister Xiare suddenly stops as if she was bewitched by something.
"Why did you suddenly stop?" I ask.
"Look." Sister Xiare responds back as she points her finger in front of us. I once again use my scoping skill and look ahead. This time, this lady is mesmerized by the sight that this lady is seeing right now.
Ahead in front of me lies a wooden two-floored shrine with multiple shrine gates in front of the shrine. Also, the trees surrounding the shrine was different from the trees within the forest. The color of the bark of the trees surrounding the shrine is ash gray while the leaves were violet. It was as if the shrine itself came from another world.
Also, the weird part about the shrine is that the shrine itself was built on a floating land and the shrine gates were floating without land supporting them. The shrine gates were chained at the main column of the shrine and to the land we are on right now.
"It looks like we finally found our destination." Sister Xiare looks at me before saying those words.
"Yeah." I reply to sister Xiare.
"Let's go there, shall we?" Sister Xiare asks me.
"Let's go." I answer back sister Xiare's question before going to the shrine.

Legends of Balarel - A Leisurely LitRPG
Glenn Redwood has longed to become an Adventurer since he was a young boy, and has focused every waking moment on that goal since turning 14. Answering the challenge of the Gods of Balarel, he has fought Monsters, Leveled, and grown stronger. Yet the day before his 16th birthday, the day he will earn his dream or lose it forever ... the Gods have made a wager. And no mere mortal wishes to draw the attention of the Gods. ***** This is my crack at writing a leisurely LitRPG. My focus is more on telling interesting stories set in a world where people live under a MMORPG-like ruleset enforced by the Gods, and less on writing another story where the MC gets massive stat boosts every chapter before heading off to wreck the world. There will be plenty of blue tables (it’s LitRPG!) but my Adventurers are just starting out. This fic is about the journey, not the destination, so expect everyone to Level ... leisurely. Updates: M-T-W-Th. I’ll post 3000-4000 words a day, or 12000-15000 words a week. If this posting pace ends up being too much for me, I reserve the right to slow posts down a bit. Inspirations: Blessed Time (Royal Road) Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon? (Anime) Trails in the Sky (JRPG Series) MC: My MC is a genuinely good person who’s both a talented warrior and tactically savvy. He prefers to solve problems without violence but will resort to force if necessary to protect his friends or innocent people. I’m tired of stories starring anti-hero MCs facing endless doom and gloom, so I wanted to write a nice guy with an adventurous spirit who helps people in a thriving fantasy world. That’s all.

He isn't your classic 'White Knight' who will defeat the 'bad guys' and save the day. Your normal views of the way the world should work are not the same for him. Expect ruthlessness, backstabbing, lies, dishonorable actions, and so much more that makes this story realistic and great.Urban Fantasy: While modern technology exists, along with space crafts and other soft sci-fi tropes, they are not key elements, nor will they be gone over in high details. This story is primarily magic/fantasy.Soft Sci-Fi: Read above. This story is a revised version of the previous story I wrote here on Royal Road. It's been almost a year since I published it and have worked on fixing it to become a better story that I am proud of. Edited as of 30JUL2022
