《Godfather World》Basilisk Tamer

After turning in a huge batch of eggs, Zen sighed. These red eggs won’t amount to many points, but they were definitely heavy. Zen walked back when he heard the oven’s timer go off and was opening it to retrieve the new batch of Basilisk eggs when something crashed through the window from the cafeteria.
Zen froze in fear when he heard the screech. The boss monster that everyone else was chasing was in the same building, and Zen panicked. He wasn’t trained in combat. How would he tame this basilisk?
There was no time to think. For Zen, every second he wasted hiding in this kitchen was a second that he was endangering these egg supplies. He had to get the bird out of here.
With a burst of bravery, Zen armed himself with the hot eggs and spied on the monster from the serving window connecting to the cafeteria. The dumb monster boss did not seem to notice him yet, so Zen called out to it.
“Over here! I have your children!”
Zen’s voice attracted the basilisk’s attention, and he closed his eyes while holding the Rainbow Eggs with outstretched hands.
“Zen!” someone screamed, and the chef could only mentally apologise to his party members. If he survived this act of foolishness, they should find some eggs to feed him.
Liu Feng did not know what was going on but hearing Sasha’s scream, he reacted quickly, lunging towards what sounded like the monster bird.
Gunshots were fired, and everything played in slow motion, just as if time dragged on. Zen felt some movement in front of him. The monster was breathing so close to him that it was difficult for Zen to hold himself up properly from fear.
Then, the basilisk bumped both its heads on the eggs that Zen held out before Liu Feng could reach it or Sasha’s bullets could graze it.

A flash of light burst in the cafeteria, and a deafening notification sounded in everyone’s head.
[Congratulations to Zen for clearing the Egg Hunt Event! Please note that there are five minutes of immunity for all participants to turn in the remaining eggs. Participants under the curse of petrification will be considered dead if the curse is not broken within the next five minutes.]
When Zen heard the announcement and saw the timer at the side of his vision, he wasted no time.
“Turn in your rainbow eggs and find me those who are petrified. I have the cure!”
Liu Feng and Sasha dumped whatever Rainbow eggs they had into the submission station, and Zen hoped that he could still make it on time. He had no idea how many people were cursed, but there should not be many from their guild.
As the seconds flew by, Zen’s skills were tested. The guild members reported that there were a total of seven cursed victims. Of which, four were badly shattered, so there were only three left. Zen put in the last batch of Rainbow Egg mixture into the oven and waited for the cursed victims to be brought over. He could not help but feel down. Despite his best efforts, four were dead.

[You have received a unique title, “Basilisk Tamer”. You can check it out in the Character Profile tab.]
Seeing as there was nothing much to do apart from waiting, Zen checked his Character Profile tab. There were not many changes, but Zen did not know what to think about that new title.

Zen was thrilled. A basilisk pet sounded cool to have around. It could be handy even if there was a use limitation. Heck, as a gamer, Zen wouldn’t even be mad if it was merely an accessory to look good. However, the idea that people were dying in the event dampened his mood.
“What’s wrong?” Liu Feng asked after noting the boy’s silence. Zen shook his head and checked the oven. The new batch of Rainbow Eggs was ready, just in time as the other guild recruits poured in with statues.
“Nothing,” Zen forced a smile and quickly changed the topic, pushing the new batch of Rainbow eggs to Liu Feng while he promptly submitted his eggs.
The Seer listened as Zen hurried away. He could tell that something was wrong from that forced tone in his voice, but there was no time to console his sworn brother. If anything, they had lives to save. Thankfully, he dropped his Rainbow Egg off at the submission station earlier.
The timer was ticking, and many people panicked when they were down to their last sixty seconds. Zen smashed eggs into all three statues and urged guild members to prioritise turning in the cooked eggs as they gave more points than regular eggs.
From here, Akiko noted who she should put on probation and who she should promote. Party Freedom was definitely in line for a promotion, but Party Prayer needed a little more time to prove themselves.
Three.
Two.
One.
The event came to an end just as suddenly as it started, and Zen found himself back in his virtual lobby with a huge system prompt, telling him to claim his reward.
Zen did not hesitate. He could already tell what the reward could be from the title he received and smiled when a new window prompted him to name his new pet.
What would be a befitting name for a basilisk?
Bassy? Basil?
Basil sounded perfect, and Zen had no problems naming it after a herb.
[Do you want to name your pet Basilisk “Basil”?]
[Yes.]
Zen confirmed and grinned. He couldn’t wait to meet his first virtual pet!

Greys II - Ghosts
There he stood, dark eyes, dark hair, beautiful in the most devastating of ways. It scared me how little he had changed, his hair was longer and black, his frame thinner, like he hadn't eaten since I last saw him. His eyes were different, lacking something they had always held before, lacking anything really, and yet he was the same. He looked weak, but I knew he wasn't. "Hi, angel."His voice was just as dead as his eyes. It sent a shiver up my spine. That was the reason I felt sick, that was the reason he seemed different. He was dead, and as much as I wanted to hate him, I was sad he was empty, sad he wasn't the same man anymore."Hello, Gabriel."My voice came out softer than I would have liked, the words burning my tongue. But it didn't matter, I got the desired effect even if the volume wasn't there. He flinched, his eyes widening, his eyebrows twitching up and together, his jaw setting for just a moment. But then it was gone and he looked away, death settling back in his eyes, in the lines of his face.» ✦ «#2 in Angel Romance#3 in Demonology#11 in Thriller#Mature, 18+ for all the reasons. Not a YA novel (again).**Due to disturbing themes, violence, depression, language and literally everything else, this is not for the kids. Ghosts is darker than Intentions. But you need to live in the dark to appreciate the light...or at least, the lighter grays 🖤🖤
