《Blood Limit》Ch 29

An elf had appeared.
The tall elf wore simple clothing, a white tunic and trousers. His hair silver in color that goes with the color of his eyes. He has white skin slightly paler than normal. The obvious feature his ears made it clear that he is indeed an elf.
"Who might you be?" I said as I looked at the elf.
The elf man closed his eyes for a moment then opened up as he turned around, sauntering off in the other direction.
He seems familiar somehow. Who is he? What does he want with me? Well he obviously has something private to speak about. I check my belt for my sword, its in place at my hip.
Alright, I guess ill see what he wants.
Then I will need to return. I cant have her thinking I wandered off alone.
And so I find myself entering the forest after the elf.
~
We walked five minutes.
This time around, treading to forest I couldn't put the surrounding into mind much less give my consideration. I had wondered if she had returned to look for me on the porch. Contrary to her expectations she would find me gone and should things go wrong then my plans to establish a connection with the elves through cooperation with her are all sophistry.
"Tell me again.. Why you've brought us here.." He spoke after studying me.
"Why- wha- what?" I stammered.
He rested a hand on the pummel of his sword. At this his actions quickly spread calmness with in me. Like a sedative.
"You brought this Land to an ENTIRELY new realm! ..What are you?" He said.
Had he seen us in the swamp before? I have explained this to Aryna but I had not found any spectators. Nor did I concern my self with them either, recklessness.

"This was just a self serving event.. I did this to satisfy my own ideals." I answered honestly.
A look of shock appeared on his face but was replaced with seriousness.
"One of my questions are still lacking answer."
Well he doesnt seem mad I took his Land to an entirely new place, I guess the event overall is pretty much astonishing. How could you respond to unexpectedly being brought somewhere else, also this is done by a single person.
"I assure you I'm human!"
"No records of our history state a human being as capable as all that.. Not even the tiatanous human tribes of the the age." He said obviously weary of me. His hand not leaving the sword.
"How powerful were the titans exactly?" I asked.
"Not powerful, though they were certainly a capable bunch. I never knew what heaps of muscle could do until I seen the magicless titan oblitering enchanted walls of our castle... ..Ignoring spell after spell the heap of muscle inconvenienced us considerably." He sighs and look up to the sunlight from the sky above shown through the trees. "....Still I somehow took down that one and a number of its brethren with it. My swordsmanship still hasn't dulled in the years its been."
Is he trying to fight me?
"I have faith." -Me
"Honor me with a duel... Human." -Elf
So thats it..
Well I don't have a problem with it.
Wait, hold on.
Actually, wont this action compromise my own plans?
"Sorry. Pressing matters bid me not to. You see, I have plans with Aryna to-" -Me
"To discuss with me friendly terms with us elves." He quoted.
What does this mean? He said 'me' right? But who.. is this?
I studied his features with improved eyes and noted his the color.

Eyes just like Aryna's. Gray like in the ambiance of the storm. A daunting pair of eyes.
Could it be?
"Are you..?"
"Her Father? Yes. Also I can assure you this wont compromise your request. In fact if you do well I will make certain of our relationship."
"..."
He answered honestly enough but still I hesitated.
Seeing my hesitation he decided on a different approach. "One strike."
"Huh?" -Me
"Just one strike then we're done." He insisted.
"That's all?" -Me
"You have my word."
"Sigh.."
I still haven't learned the amount of refined chakra that I need.
I don't want to do this so early but he's not really leaving my any choice.
Fine! Lets show him that I'm no push over and put him in his place..
My mind practically hissing as adrenaline pumped, coursing through my veins for an attack.
Before I knew it I had gently drawn my sword from its sheath. Recklessly holding it off to the side, equipped at the palm of my right hand holding the handle loosely.
"I see you are finally resolved."
He said as he got into his battle ready stance. Bending his knees, his orientation crouched. He drew his sword from its sheath partially, leaving it ajar.
"Something like that." -Me
"Hm." He said as he ran at me. His movements blurred until he vanished from sight.
Fast! He fast!
I decided to leap into action and move from where I had been only to find my ankle caught by strong blades of grass from the growth beneath us.
I was surprised but I looked up from my ankle just to find him angle his sword beneath my throat, from the chin.
"Its over." He said looking into my eyes with slight disappointment.
"Not yet." I spoke and what I had been waiting for had finally come.
His clothes fell apart at angles from his shoulders, torso, back, and legs looked as if they were cleanly cut slashed by blade.
He let out a flabbergasted 'huh' as he stood straight and I somehow missed him sheathing his sword no longer at my neck.
"I believe this is over sir Earl!" I said with a smile.
He stood in shock but went. "Apparently so? I must be getting old." I chuckled at this.
"Lets get back." I said.
"I wish to stand here for a bit." -Earl
"Haha ok." And with that I used 'shift' and disappeared leaving a shocked elf primordial behind and appearing back on the porch.
And what I saw was..

Humanity's End
Given a year to prepare by the mysterious ‘system’ for contact with the wider galaxy, humanity must work to ensure the Earth’s defense is ready to meet any challenge. Sadly, most of the world seems dedicated to tearing itself apart as the year-end deadline gets closer. The west is in barely contained Chaos, while the east descends into internal conflict and war. The Pillar Forts, one of the few successful projects of the United Nations headed by the United States, stand ready to defend humanity against any invasion that may come through the strange Connection Pillars that appeared on each continent. Massive steel and stone walls that surround the Connection Pillars. They are filled with deadly men and women trained in all manner of warfare, each trained in the newly acquired System with skills and magical abilities that they put to deadly purpose. Beside these brave warriors, tanks, helicopters, artillery and more stand ready to defend humanity at each of these powerful installations. But, can they overcome the disparity in levels and experience between themselves and the forces that threaten them and the rest of humanity? Main Characters Jessica Brown- A young African American girl. Her 18th birthday in Detroit was the same day the systems message appeared. She discovered she was Level 7, much higher than most of the rest of the world. Why she is blessed, or cursed, with the power she doesn’t know. But what she does know is that she rather likes the feeling that comes with manipulating magic. The week after her birthday, government workers started testing every person in the US in a massive census effort of skills and abilities. Jessica Brown found herself conscripted into the US Magical Corp, a new branch of the US Military, and shipped off to a Pillar Fort. Somewhere hot and muggy in her ancestors’ home of Africa. As she grows stronger, she finds she has some connection to the pillars. While everyone else sees beauty or danger when they look at the pillars, after connection is made all Jessica can see is a Tree. A tree the size of the entire universe. Isaka Smith - is a third generation American and farmer who just wants to be left alone. But she is dragged into the situation by events beyond her control. When people in her small town had to deal with rioters and looters after the system announcement, she rallied them to defend themselves, earning her a trait that the government found extraordinarily useful. After a visit to a local reservation, she finds herself conscripted to lead one of the many small support towns erected around the great pillar forts. Not near her old home, but in far-flung Africa. John McIntire, the “Fighting Bull” -The commander of the African Fort, but because of circumstances beyond his ability to contend with shortly after taking command after being re-activated from retirement, he finds communication with his chain of command increasingly difficult. The US government, hell, even the United Nations, seems to have fallen into complete and utter chaos. The African Union is embroiled in a bitter civil war just outside his door, and supposedly, most of the world governments are in similar situations. Meanwhile, John must do his best to be ready to facilitate diplomacy, or to match the hostile argument of whatever force might come through the pillar of light when the year timer finishes counting down. Can our heros defend Earth from outside threats, while it tares itself apart? Or will they need to rebuild from the ground up? DEDICATION: This story is dedicated to my father who passed away recently. Jim Holloway, you’ll be missed you old silverback gorilla. Love you dad. Always have, always will.
