《Why do I have to be the SI?!》Chapter 12

The sweat of my brow continued to bother me as the parasites continued to brush against the wards that protected all of the progress I had made so far. I felt it coming and so did they as the mage finally finished casting his spell and I felt the wards shudder slightly.
Then the real attack began with the parasites boosting the power of the spell as well as using their tendrils of power to hit them as well. I could feel the bunker itself shudder as the wards almost fell for half a second before they activated fully and their full power came online.
As the seconds ticked by and the wards continued to hold I continued to observe as more and more of the parasites added there power to bringing the power keeping them from their prize started to want to wane.
Right as the tendrils seemed to combine into one and the spell continued to gain power I waited. The milliseconds between me and survival ticked down as the spell seemed to combine with the parasites attack, and as the distance between the wards barrier and the parasitic attack closed I pulled all the mana inside myself and pushed.
The two opposing forces collide and the wards hold for seconds on end as the parasite and spell push with all their might.
They fail. Not only do they fail, but the wards that saddened been able to strike back from the constant need to defend struck back with all the force of magic from a civilization that had almost perfected it.
It struck with the last vestiges of my power giving it a small power boost and s̸̢̈t̶͇́r̵͎̿u̶̓ͅc̴̝͐k̸̲͐ the parasites that had been bothering me since I had came across the gate. As the parasites screamed in pain and torment as the very power holding them together was hit with such precision that their power started to unravel as they fled.

While that was happening I used the last bit of my fading consciousness to look to see the mage and his daughter were looking straight at the recently revealed bunker with both fear and slight curiosity. With that I passed out as the sentry guns came online and the speakers boomed speaking.. Something, I just needed a nap, yes a nap that’s what I need.
--------------------------
She was terrified as the light continued to recede from the epic clash of power that had just been displayed. Her father had cast a simple locating spell and the second he did she could feel the very mana in the air react.
Not only had the spell been empowered by what she believed to be the gods, but large tentacles of mana seemed to manifest, and join the spell in its attempts to figure out what the source of the power was.
If that was the end of it she wouldn’t be stuck in the spot she was. Not only had the source of the power inadvertently revealed itself when the spell hit it, but it had basically shined a beacon on itself as it started to fight off the mana tendrils that she was sure were the gods trying to give them a helping hand.
Then just as the spell and the mana tendrils collided with the magical defenses they gained an enormous amount of strength. Not just larger than her and her dads combined strength but also larger than the attacking mana.
Then the illusion disappeared and a large metal gate seemed to some into existence along with a hill she was sure wasn’t there before. Then the voice and metal contraptions started to make their move.
“INTRUDERS DETECTED WAITING FOR ORDERS, WAITING FOR OR-.’’ As the loud voice cut out a new voice one obviously male started talking. “Mages and soldiers that have been detected outside of our base please state why you are still here, and what your intentions are.”

I looked over at my father as the soldiers seemed terrified of what had just happened. After all you didn’t need to be a mage to have felt the absolutely MASSIVE amount of magic that had been used.
Before she could say anything her father decided to speak. “We have come to figure out what the source of the large magical disturbances that have been happening over the last few days.” A few seconds passed by as the voice seemed to think over their answer.
Right as she thought no answer would come forth a reply came, “One of my colleagues is coming out to greet you. He is authorized to use lethal force if you try anything so please be civil.”
As the voice said that the large gates to the inside of whatever complex was being hidden opened slightly a large armored figure walked out as the gates shut behind him. The figure was carrying a blocky looking piece of metal with a hole at the end that must have been some kind of weapon. She was broken out of her observation as the figure spoke.
------------------------------
“My name is Ivan dantalos I will be the mouthpiece for my lord while he rests.” As he spoke he could see the primitives take in his words as the two mages continued to observe him. “If I may ask you Mr. Ivan but who are you and who is your lord?”
The first to speak was the older of the pair of mages that had caused his lords current predicament. “I and my lord are none of your concern, now why did you use such a powerful spell and try to attack us?”
He could see the older of the two mages freeze up for a split second as the younger of the two decided to finally speak. “I don’t know what you're talking about, my father used a simple locating spell to try and figure out where the origin of all the excess magic in the air was coming from. Not only that but it’s not our fault the gods empowered the spell we were simply lucky.”
He looked at the girl as he tried to process what was just said not only had the parasites tried to break down the protections, but had also used their power to empower the distraction. The situation had just gone from bad to worse. Parasitic gods were not supposed to have any kind of ability to see past gaining power to actively use their power to help others. Not unless they were followers.
They weren’t dealing with type-2 parasitic gods, they were dealing with soul eaters. Fuck.

A guy reincarnated as a sloth and is too lazy to be a protagonist
Hey, so do you also love a Story about people getting isekai’d into another world into a body of a monster that can evolve? Yea, sucks that most of them are either Harems (honestly, at first I was like "weird flex but okay", but now every fucking story that looks like it could go somewhere just throws the MC a new love interest every 3 chapters or so), or idiots that trust the first human they see to not kill them. Also, is it just me, or do most of them evolve into a human-ish Form way too fast? I mean what is the point of a monster MC if the guy is practically just an overpowered human? Well, after like about 3 years I am kinda running out of good stories, so I'm gonna try to make one myself. It's probably gonna be pretty bad to be honest, but it has no harem so it is already better than 3/4 of novels out there. And I haven't even started yet! But to be serious now: The story is about a pretty lazy guy who reincarnates as a sloth....I haven't really planned more for now... well, good luck to me I guess. Also I am not sure if I want this to have blue screens yet... I mean they look pretty neat but personally I'm kind of sick of them. PS: If you wondered, no I am not the person that took the photo of a sloth with sunglasses...god, that dude must be living the Life...

Delve
Truth hides behind action. Delve. A word with many meanings. It may refer to an abyss, a dark place of no return or may also be a refuge, a haven of retreat from the harshness of the outside. None of those are right to me. For me, to delve is to seek the truth. Delving into that dark abyss and coming back with answers. To leave that safe refuge and suffer the pain of the outside just because it is real. This is the story of me delving deep into the truths of the universe. Suffering things that should not be suffered in search of things that should not be known. Once a common man, drowned in the same questions that have plagued humanity since the beginning of times, now I have found my answers. Now I have meaning. Delve, and you shall have yours as well. Jack is a regular citizen of modern society: he works on an office, uses public transport every day, receives a meager salary, and drowns his frustrations with entertainment and alcohol. Maybe, the only thing that sets him apart from many others, is his unique outlook on life. Despite feeling an unfillable void in his soul and suffering from deep depression, he still sees as his duty to be a functional, exemplary member of society. All in order to prove his life-goal point: no matter how good you are, life is still shit. This point-of-view, however, will be challenged by circumstances as a mysterious encounter with a weirdly dressed man takes him to a strange and dark cave. In this place, he will have to fight for his life against fantastical creatures from fiction, and more importantly, get face to face with his own nature. In doing so, he will uncover secrets about the cave that will change both him and all he ever thought to be true.
