《Cross Roads: Wolves of Oleander (Book Three)》Chapter 26

The startled audience is now paying attention to the four wolf girls who were indeed out of towners as they turned around to see the yelling Kayla.
Noel, who was in the audience, approaches the Nether Elite, “Kayla, What the hell?! You have no authority arresting anyone! And she was already convicted for those crimes!” she mocked.
Kayla scoffed at Noel’s claim, “Long time no see, Noel. I’m surprised you let ‘Fate’ here see serial killers up close! What a father of the year I.N.D. is!” Kayla insults, handing over the warrant to Noel as she glosses over it.
Noel, knowing international law herself, the arrest warrant was baseless, “Okay, and what am I supposed to do with this, Anderson? Wipe my ass with it? You and I both know your boss didn’t sign off on this! What you are doing is an illegal arrest!” Noel debunked.
Kayla's shoulder bumped Noel out of the way, approached the stage, “Boutonnière, put down the kid, slowly on her feet, and step down to the floor!” She ordered.
With a smile on her face, Maria became defiant, “So… the wolves are here to take me away…” She reflected while Suerte wraps her little arms around Maria’s neck. “What took you and Adrian so long, ladies? I didn’t go anywhere special. All of you conspire to kill me, ending the nightmare once and for all, but I was here in this country for years--”
“I SAID, STEP DOWN!” Kayla demanded, losing her patience.
But she wasn’t the only one as the audience grew restless of the harassment. The audience in attendance was turning hostile as they cornered the wolf girls, shouting at them.
“LEAVE THIS WOMAN ALONE!”
“YEAH, GO BACK TO YOUR MASTER!”
“MURDERING WHORES!”

The peaceful and intimate concert was about to turn hostile and violent.
Uncharacteristically, Maria steps in, “Alright, enough! Enough!” she shouted to the audience as the calmed down. “Remember what we spoke about! Noel, take Suerte and find her father. He is with the warden.”
“Are you sure, Miss Boutonnière?” Noel questions.
“Yes! Positive!” Maria eagerly reaffirms.
Reluctantly, Noel steps up on stage to take Suerte, but the little wolfdog girl refuses.
"Maria, ¿vas a pelear contra ellos? ¿Te van a llevar? ¡Yo también puedo pelear!" She pleaded.
Maria found humor in this, “Don’t you worry, young lady. I’m going to be just fine…” She confirms as she hands Suerte over to Noel as she addresses the crowd.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I’m afraid to end this little concert tonight. Fret not, I want you all to follow Suerte and Noel to the courtyard. Do not worry, my friends. There will be no blood. There will be no violence. They will not take me.”
Reluctantly, the audience disperses, giving mean and nasty glares at the Nether Elite. Suerte decided to walk on her own as she and Noel step off stage together.
Ryoko speaks to Suerte, “Hola, senora!” Trying her best in Spanish.
The scowling Suerte addresses the wolf girl best way she knew how “Screw off…” Surprisingly, she spoke English very well, considering.
As the audience leaves the studio, Maria takes her time stepping of the stage. The group was poised and ready as Maria herself was an S-Class Aetheral User that rivaled many Crucis Sentinels in the past and present.
Maria raises her arms in the air as she started to preach, “For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence!”
“SHUT UP, MARIA!” Kayla ordered, but Maria persists.

“And wolves shall cry in their castles, and jackals in the peasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged. For I know this, which after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock,” Maria approaches Natalia, face to face. However, the four kemonomimi are standing nonchalantly and unafraid on the surface. But the Nether Elite had every right to be intimidated and scared for their lives.
Maria smiles at Natalia as she descripts her passage, “Betrayal… That is a hell of a thing to accuse me of… Woe to you who destroy, but you weren't destroyed, and who betray, but nobody betrayed you! When you have finished destroying, you will be destroyed; and when you have made an end of betrayal, you will be betrayed…” Maria extends her arms towards Natalia to be handcuffed by Natalia.
“Go ahead, Silvestri. Hook her up!” Kayla baited.
“I’m not so sure she will… the ways of all flesh come and go, but our memories last forever. You are no killer, you are no deviant, you are no wolf…” Maria said with confidence.
Natalia doesn’t respond as she stood like a statue made from lead, petrified by the woman who had her brutalized years ago.
“Come on, Natty. Do it!” Ryoko naïvely encouraged.
Still, Natalia didn’t move a muscle.
“Best of the best, huh? Then prove it already!” Kayla bullied.
Natalia took a deep breath as he looked around the room. It was like she wanted to run as far away for the situation as possible. But she couldn’t; she just stood there without saying a word.
Maria, however, broke the silence, “Sometimes, it’s best to let go…” she suggested.
Natalia finally approaches Maria and takes her by the hands.
Kayla scoffed, “Finally…”
However, Kayla would be disappointed in Natalia as she lowers Maria’s arms while looking away.
With her head down, she addressed her team, “Stand down, we're leaving…”
“WHAT THE FUCK, NATTY?!” Kayla admonished.
Natalia walks away as the Nether Elite follows her.
Meanwhile, Kayla got into her face as she continued to berate Natalia, “YOU GET YOUR FAT ASS BACK THERE AND FINISH THIS!!”
Natalia ignores her, yet it was in her best interest, not to say anything at all.
“What’s done is done, Kayla-chan… We should have never had come here to begin with,” Ayeka reflected.
“I WILL REPORT YOUR ASS--!”
“SHUT UP FOR ONCE AND LISTEN!” Natalia finally snapped as she got into Kayla’s face. “The moment I put cuffs on her, we are dead! All this time, all these years, she could have escaped from prison and have finished us off one by one… Instead, she’s here… I’m done…”
Heading to the door, Kayla threatened her one last time, “You walk out that door, don’t even think about coming back to Madrid!”
“So be it…” Natalia leaves the studio.
Kayla runs after as Ryoko trailed not far behind, leaving Ayeka all alone in the studio. She couldn’t help to turn around to see a satisfied Maria, watching the most formidable team of the Oleander Syndicate implode in front of her very eyes.
“Another day, Holy Mother…” Ayeka bids farewell as she slams the door shut behind her.

Volume 1 of Fates Parallel is on Amazon's Kindle Unlimited! Check it out here! Also available on Audible! Volume 2 of Fates Parallel is on Amazon's Kindle Unlimited! Check it out here! Also available on Audible! After centuries of endless wars, the three greatest nations of the continent have come together in peace. As a symbol of their cooperation, they have worked together to establish the Grand Academy of Spiritual, Martial, and Arcane Arts, a place where the best and brightest of each nation can gather on neutral ground and share knowledge, techniques, and cultures. Can the peace truly last, or is the academy just another proxy for the constant conflicts the three nations face? None of that matters to Lee Jia, a homeless young girl who's biggest concern is surviving the winter. But when she accidentally stumbles into the academy in search of a new place to stay, her destiny is changed forever. Determined to carve out a new place for herself and make the most of her good fortune, Lee Jia dives head first into the world of magic and martial arts. Fates Parallel is my first serious attempt at writing a story, and a personal love letter to Eastern fantasy and xianxia stories. It's heavily inspired by East Asian culture, folklore, and mythology, with what is likely going to be a decidedly Western artistic license. I try to write every day, with a goal of about 45,000 words per month (~1500 per day). Chapter lengths are around 3000 words on average, releasing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Cover art drawn by the incredibly talented Tsuu (TsurotArtistry).

Stolen by the System
Lost. Vulnerable. Alone. What would you sacrifice to get home? Kidnapped on the cusp of graduation, Jake is dumped into a deadly world of levels and magic. His dreams shattered again, he’s left with a choice: fight or die – and Death won’t let him go that easily. A savage wolf, a horrific secret, and an abhorrent quest make day one the second worst day of his life. Whatever bastard is pulling the strings is due one hell of a reckoning. On the plus side, there’s magic, and Jake’s got the stats to master it. Spells not included, but, hey, creating spells and programming are basically the same thing, right? At least Spellcrafting is slightly less suicidal than trying to stop the encroaching dungeon spawn threat. Because why wouldn’t there be an apocalypse in progress. All the more reason to find his way back fast. Unfortunately, the path home leads right into the heart of danger. Fighting monsters, dungeon delving, solving puzzles – whatever it takes, Jake is finding his way home. He’ll need allies. Powerful allies, like a trainee ranger who struggles to find her hairbrush. Pointy ears, executive dysfunction, and a perilously gutsy moral compass – what more could one want in a Companion? Alas, beggars can’t be choosers. He needs every edge he can get. Going home means finishing his quest. That quest. The quest that doesn’t deserve completion. Save your father, save the world. Update Schedule: Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Temporarily ad hoc.
