After Noel told her story, she wiped some of her tears away and summarized with a broken voice, “So, you see, your Majesty, how you start out in life, is not how it ends. Only you decide the ending of your story and no one else. In fact, I didn’t really ask to be helped by Navarasa.

I never really asked for her to save me from myself, nor I never really wanted her to be in my life. She just showed up one day, and I just had the patience or the common sense to be open to her. And for that, I am genuinely grateful for everything she has done for me. She saved my life. But as I was getting better, I realized one thing.”

“What was that, Noel?” Bĕhēmōṯ asked.

“The best things in life are the ones you don’t really want. It’s the people and the responsibilities that are given to you. But the funny thing about that phrase is this: it can’t be taken away or given by someone. It chooses you.”

“Not even a God?” Bĕhēmōṯ questions.

“Even gods fear their own destinies. Sometimes you should ask yourself if God made ‘angels’ and ‘demons’ then who was responsible for making the gods? Everyone is above and below someone, your Majesty.”

“You’re right, I didn’t want this position at first,” Bĕhēmōṯ agreed. “When all of you came into my life that day. I didn’t know what I really wanted back in the day. I was so angry and frustrated with my life. At times it was easy, but it usually boils back up again, and I had to push it down. Until one day I snapped and gave in to my inner monster.”

“That’s not healthy, your Majesty,” Noel commented. “No matter how perfectly built someone could be, everyone deals with trauma differently.”

“No, it wasn’t. I agree with you. It made me—it made us more ignorant of the world, and it made me more aggressive which was a perfect situation for me to be in when it came to my… previous profession. I didn’t really learn anything positive during my time in the syndicate. The blood, sweat, and tears,” Bĕhēmōṯ reminisced.

“The moment that we confront our past faults and face the truth is the moment our minds and our souls become free,” Noel lectures as his Majesty snorted in laughter.

“You sound exactly like Navarasa sometimes. Or should I say little Navarasa.”

Noel was happily taken aback by his Majesty’s comments, “as a matter of fact, I was proud that I was modeled after someone who was purely genuine towards daemon-kind.”

“Well, to me, that is a compliment. Because she saved my life as well.”

“There is no shame in asking for help when you’re in need. Stubbornness leads to pride. And pride leads to vanity, only to value your self-worth more than your own soul.” Noel lectured.

Then suddenly, Bĕhēmōṯ remembered why she called Noel, “Oh, that reminds me! About the DBX--!”

“You had submitted the original machine to the proper authorities, not before you deactivated the weapons systems yourself,” Noel finished as sighs Bĕhēmōṯ sighs deeply.

“Yes,” Bĕhēmōṯ confirmed.

“Look on the bright side. At least now the United Kingdom has something to put in their war museum,” Noel joked as his Majesty laughed.

“That would be something,” Bĕhēmōṯ praised.

There was a sudden hush between them for at least a minute. They didn’t address the impending doom of this situation, but they had to.

“They are doing an investigation on me…” Bĕhēmōṯ informed.

Noel sighs, “Indeed, they are… Kayla Anderson, out to prove her worth again.”

“No need to fret, I will put an end to this,” Bĕhēmōṯ declared as Noel’s fox ears perked up.

What are you going to do?”

This made Bĕhēmōṯ chuckle, “you’ll see…”
