《Legends of Valheim》Chapter 2: Eve

Liam and Sam went home, back to their small hut.
Their village wasn't anything special. They had to produce their own food and any leftovers could be sold on the market, although it seems it seems like a rare occurence that they produce more potatoes and carrots than necessary.
Because Sam is Level 80, she naturally is more resistant to pain, aswell as having a higher recovery time, so she was let out the next day.
"What do we do?". Sam almost immediately panicked as soon as she entered her home.
"We can't do much, we train him ourselves, that's the best we can do. When he turns five, we're going to teach him about adventuring, and assuming he has talent we can send him to an Academy".
"However, when he's able to talk and speak, you should teach him how to circulate his Mana and whatnot. It looks like he's a Druid. Ontop of this he needs companions, he's a support type, how can he fight alone?".
Liam went off on a tangent until Sam finally stopped him.
"Liam! Stop. He'll be fine, for now let's just sleep".
Both of them were worn out, so they shuffled to bed with Ivan in Sam's hand. What else can they actually do? Ivan is a day old, it isn't like they can suddenly give Ivan a sword and he'll swing it. No, these things take time.
With that, four years passed in a flash.
There was a small boy, with blonde hair, and blue eyes. He was the epitomy of cute, this boy was called 'Ivan'.
He was playing in his back garden alone holding a stick in his hand. It seems like he has two Passions, sticks and mana. The stick Passion is a bit questionable, but mana is great! This means he actually enjoys himself when he's learning, and today is his first lesson of being taught mana circulation by his Mother, who is a Rare Water Mage!
"Ivan! Your Mother wants you!".
As Liam shouted to Ivan, he instinctually got up and ran to his Mother, as he knew it was time for his learning lesson!
"I'm here Mum!".
As he said this, he jumped towards his Mother to be caught in her hands.

"Wow! Aren't you full of life? Okay before we start, I need to ask you three questions".
Ivan nodded his head, awaiting the quiz.
"Number 1! If anyone asks for your class, what do you say?". Sam has basically drilled these questions into Ivan since he was young, so Ivan understood how important his class actually was, although he doesn't realise how dangerous it is.
"Rare Nature Mage!".
"Correct! If someone asks to see your status window what do you do?".
"I say no and walk away!".
"Correct! Well done my little munchkin".
With the mini questionnaire over with, it's time to learn 'Mana Circulation'. This skill is the bread and butter for anyone who uses Magic. This skill requires you to circulate your mana continuously, making it so you can use mana. Although Ivan was born with as a Legend Candidate, this doesn't mean he gets a head start! Any newborn starts with zero skills, and that's just how it was. However, his parents did a bit of researching and it seems that when he learns Mana Circulation, he will learn a Druid skill, although they don't exactly know what it is, except for the fact that someones Passion is supposed to influence it.
Despite there being Legends in the past, every person of the same class use different abilities, the only similarity is that their basis of the class is the same. For example, a Druid is a support type class, so for the 2nd generation, they used debuffs and binds, whereas the 3rd generation Druid healed their allies, but their similarity lied in the fact that they were support types.
"Okay! Mana Circulation. This is very important as you need to activate this whenever you use a skill. Follow my instructions. Close your eyes, and imagine a blue stream flowing in your bloodstream, and focus that flow into your heart. In essence, that is Mana Circulation, however your mana should be green due to your class".
Sam looked at the small boy, and smiled. He truly was a prodigy, not only after 30 minutes of the instructions being given, he was able to learn 'Mana Circulation'.
For Ivan, he heard two ding sounds one after another, and heard a delicate voice in his mind.

[You have learnt 'Mana Circulation']
[You have learnt 'Branch Manifestation'].
Ivan's eyes were glistening and instantly went to check his status window.
[Ivan: Age 4]
[Level: 1]
[Class: Legendary Druid Candidate]
Innate Abilities: [Branch Manifestation Level 1]
Abilities: [Mana Circulation Level 1]
Ivan looked at his status window and was confused, he didn't know the difference between Innate and normal abilties, as when he looked in the past, Innate Abilities were never there.
"Mum! What are Innate Abilities?".
Sam wasn't surprised to hear that he had an innate ability.
"Oh! That's when you learn something related to your class, or passion. Also if you're wondering why Mana Circulation hasn't, it happened to your Father too, he has a mana passion too, and it isn't an innate ability for him. Anyways, what innate ability did you get?".
"Branch Manifestation!".
Ivan pumped his chest out and had a proud smile on his face. His Mother was also excited for him.
"Awh! My cute little boy give your mummy a hug!".
He flinched a tad, but nontheless he complied.
"Time for your bed time, school tomorrow".
"W-wait, five more mi-".
Before he could even finish his sentence, his Father came and picked him up and slung him over his shoulder and went to Ivan's room.
"Goodnight! Sweet Dreams!".
Despite his parents being in their early 30s, they still laughed like children, and Ivan could overhear them.
"Shut up!".
Infact, Ivan didn't sleep, instead he used Mana Circulation for a few hours, and naturally fell asleep, he didn't even have time to use Branch Manifestation, and even if he did, he would just get shouted at by his parents.
"Ivan hurry up! Eat your breakfast you're going to be late!".
Sam shouted for Ivan to hurry, since he was about to be late.
"Eve is probably waiting for you!".
When he heard Eve's name, he instantly shot up, she was his childhood friend who had human parents despite being a Dwarf. Ivan didn't care, since at the end of the day, every Valor Race are treated equally, and every child is raised like that. Well, except for a few families, but that doesn't concern Ivan or his family.
The main reason why these children became friends was because they share common interests. Although they both had different Passions, Eve still loved Farming, however in particular carrots! She ate them all the time, aswell as always carrying one around with her.
Ivan got his clothes out and got dressed and ran out the door whilst shouting "I don't need breakfast! Eve probably has a few carrots with her!".
Sam sighed, at this point he was eating carrots every morning, although it shouldn't be a bad thing since carrots are vegetables at the end of the day.
As soon as he opened his fence, he saw Eve coming out of the fence too, they looked at eachother and instantly ran towards a certain tree, which seems to be significantly larger than any other tree, and it was in the centre of the small village in the countryside.
They went through the market, and even went through a few gardens in which they were shouted at, but that didn't bother them.
Eve touched the tree before Ivan by a few seconds and she instantly boasted.
"20 - 5! See? I'm just naturally faster than you!".
She bursted out laughing and also patted Ivan's head.
"Ugh, so what? I learnt Magic!".
His grim face suddenly changed into a smile, until he got sudden news.
"Magic? Haha, me too! I guess you're not so special".
Ivan turned towards the schools direction and lowered his head. Someone like Eve can learn Magic? I guess he truly isn't special.
Eve sneered and instantly wrapped her hands around his head.
"Stop looking so gloomy! Let me tell you a secret, but promise me you can't tell anyone! My Mum said I can't tell a sole, but I trust you since you're the same age as me, and I've known you all my life!".
Ivan just nodded whilst holding out his pinky. Their pinky's interlocked and Eve blurted out her huge secret which made her life hell up till now.

Making a difference
Harry Potter FanFiction: Hannah Longbottom liked to watch the people who entered the Wizarding World via the small, walled courtyard behind the Leaky Cauldron for a reason: During her not so long life, she had learned about three different boys who had entered the Wizarding World alone, leaving behind a life so horrible she could barely imagine. One of them, who became a friend of hers, had gone through great hardships to become a hero, one of the greatest wizards the Wizarding World had ever seen. One of them, who had been her teacher, had become cold and bitter, and no one had ever recognized what amazing talents he could have offered, until it had been too late. One of them, the monster she had helped to fight during the Battle of Hogwarts, had become the most dreaded, most dangerous, and most deadly man Great Britain had ever seen, and yet it could have all been different, if someone had just tried to make that difference early enough in that life, if he had not boarded the train to Hogwarts all alone. Already posted at Devianart and AO3, I've included a link to RoyalRoad on my profiles there.
