Vecto continued his rampage, firing at Leroy as he flew past the blasts. "There's no bailing out of this one, Leroy." Vecto rapidly fired at him, locking on to him. Leroy spun around and came at Vecto head-on. He dodged Vecto's blasts and pounded Vecto's chest. He pounded again as Vecto's shields vibrated. Then he pressed with his other hand and phased his fingers through the shields. Vecto swung with his arm at Leroy but was stopped by energy blocking the side of Leroy's head. Vecto quickly expanded his exterior shield and encompassed Leroy between his two outer shields, suspending his body in between.
"It will only take time before my shields devour the carbon from your body," Vecto said.
"Ain't you curious-how I slipped through ya shields?" Leroy asked.
"I don't care at this point," Vecto said. "My only concern is to find Morphaal and kill him. Are you going to tell me where Zendora is?"
"Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle. So Morphaal knows the road to Zendora, you say?" Leroy said inside Vecto's shield, his tough skin barely flaking. "Doesn't bode well."
"And yet you won't tell me where Zendora is or even fight Morphaal, you coward!" Vecto said.
"How many times I gotta tell ya? I cain't leave these parts, boy," Leroy said. "I put my energy, my life force, my chi, into this here land. And only when I'm around here can I use my power."
"That's improbable," Vecto said.
"Ya got a lot t' learn, my boy," Leroy said. He focused his chi energy in the air on the other side of Vecto's shield, and the energy began to destabilize the outer shield. Soon, Leroy was able to slip through, exiting the bubble he was in.

Vecto was baffled, unable to analyze the technique.
"Good ole chi is life, an' carbon builds that life," Leroy explained, tipping his straw hat and noticing that Vecto's shields had eaten part of it. "Ya shield's alive and sucks carbon to live. But there's two sides of chi: good and bad. That pain ya feel when I strike means ya shields are growin' negative, you hear?"
"How'd you pass through the shield?" Vecto asked.
"By forcin' an opposite chi level against your shield's, neutralizin' it," Leroy continued. "Like I said, my life's around me."
"It is quite difficult to believe you," Vecto said. "My shields are impregnable!"
"Or so ya think." Leroy hovered above him.

8 187Empress' Evolution
The bright red light of the flames swallowed her vision but soon that red light transformed into a blue hue and she was dragged into that light. ‘What’s happening?’ It was too bright and she was forced to close her eyes, she was blinded — even though she was already dead. After being pulled into the light she began to feel annoyed as her skin was irritated by some kind of rough sand. By the time she opened her eyes. She could see the full view of the sky. It was blue and there were clouds scattered about. ‘Ugh, is this Hell?’ She stated as she rubbed her head with her fluffy and furry ‘hand’. ‘Furry?’ She looked at her ‘hands’ and her mouth opened wide. Her hands had become soft and fluffy paws of a white-furred beast with purple spots. ‘What the hell?’ She touched her face with her paws and confirmed that it too did not belong to a human. Below, she felt something was moving, she can tell as if it was another limb connected to her. ‘Don’t tell me!’ Turning her head around, she found a seven-inch tail sticking out behind. ‘Phew!’ She felt relieved that it wasn’t what she thought it was. “These soft and paws, this cuddly fluffy hair, this cute tail — ah shit, did I become a beast after my death or have I been dreaming of being human as a beast all this time? If it is the latter that is one long and realistic dream.” === [It’s the former, stupid *] === Said a woman’s voice from in her head. === As always thank you for reading, also the image in the cover is not mine, I found it on Pinterest and thought it was cool and suitable. All credits got to the illustrator. Also, this is a new type of story that I have not read about yet. Basically I am writing an evolution novel without prior knowledge so I don't really know what is considered cliche in this genre.
