《The oddity that shall be, my new life》Chapter 6

I laid there quietly sleeping peacefully. For this time, I forgot this wasn't my bed. I was back in mine, back in my room. On earth. Ooooh...But this morning. This morning I was going to get a terrifying awakening thanks to a certain phobia my mom helped spawn. For my own good in consideration since I tried playing with black widows when I really young as I've been told. "Alright sleeping beauty. It's time to wake up sweetheart." I heard a woman's voice say rather kindly. My brows furrowed in confusion with the familiarity of the voice.
Why the fuck is Wanda Sykes trying to wake me up...? I questioned thoroughly confused. My eyes opened to look at the pillow in front of my face, when I looked to the way I would be facing if I was on my back. My eyes for a lack of better words bug eyed with a kind of fear that you swear you'll shit yourself. To which in acquaintance to the reaction to the Galvantula currently standing over me, I let loose a blood curdling high pitched scream that startled Zilnia awake and made the Galvantula above me jump. In the moment the Wanda Sykes voiced electro tarantula was trying to tell me to calm down, I brought up both legs and sort of donkey kicked it off me as I swiftly got up and had my knife out from under one of the pillows in a ready to stab anything stance, as the Galvantula smashed into the adjacent wall.
"STAY THE MOTHER OF FUCK BACK!!" I yelled with a deathly seriousness that was accompanied with my fear induced higher pitched voice.
"Dude! Calm the hell down before I electroweb yo chunky ass!"
"FUCKING TRY AND I'LL GUT YOU'RE THORAXE YA EIGHT LEGGED FREAK MOTHERFUCKER!!" I yelled in fearful anger.
The Galvantula retorted with a grunt. "Yeah I'd like to see you try." She grunted while she rolled back over. "Damn he kicks hard..." He didn't look it, but the human had some decent muscle.
I quickly switched the knife around ready to throw it. "Bitch don't tempt me!!" I was shit at getting the rotation right when I practiced throwing knives, but I was rather confidante of this impending throw.
Zilnia quickly came over to me, putting her hands on my left arm. "Will! Will! It's alright, she's friendly!-friendly!" Zilnia said trying to reason with me.
"Fucking tell that to my arachnophobia!" I said loudly, my bulging eyes locked on the giant ass spider. If I were to guess 'her' size, I'd say was about as tall to my waste. And I'm five eight...
"Your what?" Both pokemon asked. Confused by the term.
"Oh for fucks-sake!" I began as I let my arms drop, while rolling my eyes, my head somewhat following the motion. For a moment, I looked at Zilnia while pointing to the Galvantula, knife in hand that was about to kill it. "It's the fear of spiders! And guess what the fuck that is!" I said looking while pointing at the jumbo tarantula.
"Oh now that's not cool." The Wanda Sykes sounding Galvantula said kind of hurt.
I gave a hard glare, still very much at the ready. "Blame that on my fucking mother!"
"How can you have a phobia against my big fluffy ass! Bitch, I'm down right adorable!" The Wanda Sykes voiced Galvantula retorted while gesturing with her smaller forelimbs and a shake of her abdomen. I glared at it with hard pressed pursed lips, torn on trying to smile and keep my angry and terrified face...But I just can't take this entirely seriously because the voice and the current reaction.

I took in a breath while tilting my head up. Mmm-the conflictions!! I thought with a grunting voice. "Ooooh my god damn it all!" I said aloud in frustration. I dropped the knife from tip to underhand.
"Well THIS is a great fucking start of the fucking day!!"Psycho said not all too pleased with the imposing situation, this was rather a rude awakening. Then the Galvantula spoke up. "Alright, I don't know what's with your world. But I ain't like those scary lookin' things, sure I'm big an' all. But I ain't gonna wrap you up and make you into a meat slurrpy, that's nasty!" She said making gestures to the actions, while trying to defend her image to the crew's latest not so trusting abductee.
I just held an uneasy glare, my anxiety was going ape shit on what's currently happening and said anxiety was being fueled by the grease fire that's my phobia flaring up. With this, Zilnia saw my torso oddly enough practically vibrate. "Listen, we'll go to the canteen, get properly acquainted and have things cleared up. Sound like a good idea?" Zilnia said trying to defuse the situation. "So just, put the knife down, nobody needs to get bloody and everything will be alright, okay?"
I looked at her while keeping the eight legged freaks sized Galvantula in my peripheral. Seeming almost like a mass of yellow. "I'm claiming self-defence if she tries something that I really don't fucking like." Zilnia showed a conceding smile. "Ay, nobody's gonna try something without a good enough reason. You'll be fine, I for one ain't got anything against you." The Galvantula said in a calming tone, admittedly, the thought was comforting. But, given sentient beings that can have barely based qualms against something they don't like. That reason can be certainly a pitiful one.
"Poorly executed christian ideology." Psycho coughed.
Shut it.
I took a long breath in and out, trying to calm myself some. I then lowered the knife after a moment, I gave a several second long light glare to the one that started this little comotion. I went about fishing the bed for my knife's holster. When I was getting it back in, I glanced at my machete. In hindsight, I probably should of grabbed that instead...
"Maybe."
Shortly after things cooled off so to speak, we made our way to Callia's place of work. I was still kind of leery of being near the Galvantula. I was aware of the level of honesty of these two, but it wasn't going to stop some parts of my mind. We had some small talk here and there along the way. In these small conversations I learned the Galvantula was named Galavena, kind of felt like a play on words in my honest opinion. But, a kind of fun to say name. Kind of like mock angrily yelling Zarbadon, in which Psycho proceeded doing.
"GALAVEEENAAAAAAAA!!! Heheheheh, oh that's more fun than that should be." The voice of madness remarked chuckling. "Ay, Ay, Vlad! Give it a try!"
"Eh, not entirely feeling inclined."
"Aw come on. One time."
Vlad sighed. "Alright, one time."
"Okay, on three. One. Two. Three!" And together they bellowed the name in mock anger.
""GALAVEEENAAAAAAAAA!!!""
Vlad began chuckling himself, he had to agree, It is more fun it should be as he laughed with Psycho. Even I did a little silent chuckling. We entered the threshold of the dining area, I noticed the lights were softer than yesterday, which I wouldn't complain as it was easier on my eyes. Though as we neared Callia's work cooking area, I heard soft voiced singing of Wake me up Inside from Evanescence.

Huh, didn't think she'd like Evanescence. Cool.
As she placed the pot on the burner, she noticed our approach showing a light smile. "Hm, morning. I hope your sleep was not disturbed?" Callia asked, it took me a few seconds to register that she was talking to me as my neutral expression was broken by my raised eyebrows to the question while we sat down.
"Mostly till the end, to which I had nearly pissed myself from Galavena hovering over my face, to which lead me to educating them on my arachnophobia." I said, placing a somewhat distasteful glance to the offender, then looked back with resuming my lax expression. Then continued. "So, if anything besides this. Rather pleasant."
Callia made a light chuckle. "I'd imagine your fairly awake now, no?" She said lightly teasing.
"Yes, for the most part." I began with furrowed brows and a sigh. "Though, I'd hope this kind of awakening will not be a recurring type. Would be rather grating in multiples in quick succession. I'm the kind that enjoys his eight hour sleep cycle."
"I could imagine. Would you like to partake in breakfast?" Callia asked with an almost cheerful tone, still holding that light smile. That light smile was growing to be a now not so unwelcomed familiarity on this ship for me.
"Though usually not so soon after waking up. Buuuut, I may not say no to what you may have in mind." I said showing my own light smile. I began feeling a almost somewhat disorientation coming in, my paranoid side was babbling over impending lightheadedness through rather quickly lowering blood sugars. But as the thought was going by Callia piped up. "I almost forgot,-" The froslass cook said as she somewhat hurriedly left, I heard what sounded like a fridge door opening and closing. A few seconds later she came back with a cherry dr. pepper, placing it in front of me. Both my would be companions, but rather, I'd guess to say breakfasting colleagues looked at the exchange with confusion.
Oh sweet jesus. I thought as she slid the canned drink to me. As she continued I opened the beverage and took a short drink. "Miss Aiz informed me of your sugar issue, as with compiling a medical list for you for the others to look over for potencial happenings that can be prevented." Callia informed, I was in actual delighted surprise of the development. Well, I'd imagine she'd have to do so in any case since I'm to be temporarily part of the crew. It'd be unwise to not do so if something can be prevented from something going wrong with something completely manageable. I thought given the circumstance.
I actually smiled a little more. "Well, that's nice of her. Even though somewhat obligated, nice thought regardless." I said in a kind of pleased tone.
"I had thought that be so, as well. I am willing to help manage this blood sugar complication." Callia added, even though I had barely fledgling ties to this crew. I was rather delighted to the thought that the crew that I've met so far have been rather happy to help as they could. I've been actually feeling welcomed on the ship even.
I looked at her with an actual smile. "That's rather enlightening."
"Ah, progress." Callia thought with a happy note. It was nice seeing the human actually smile, and seeing his trust grow. She hoped he will be on the ship for awhile, since she's already grown to like this human. He was a fairly cordial one at that, as well having a pleasant feel about him. In a generalized aspect, she enjoyed his presence. As well she felt she'll be getting regular compliments. Which she had no argument to. I brought out my phone seeing if I had any messages out of curiosity, though doubtful given the circumstance. It didn't hurt to check.
Well fuck. Nothing. I thought at the lack of notifications. Though expected... I then added with a mental sigh. Just then my brows furrowed. It'd be odd if I didn't as I thought of it, then I wouldn't of been able to use pandora. Though that contradicts that notion since I still got data. But then another thought came up that reminded me of the possible existence of something like the Extranet from the Mass Effect series. As well a corresponding thought that I'll get more social media like data when we come near something like a data buoy. Oh the plausibilites. Though, on the other hand. Zilnia might of sneaked a notification filter on my phone. I hypothesized, thinking of plausibility, that was one of them. With that fact in mind, I would have to do a little testing.
Then a thought hit me, why was it just me and these three? Shouldn't this place be practically filled? "So, I'm curious. Did everybody else get up and eat already, or is everybody still waking up?" I inquired, I was legitimately curious as to why.
"Most of them are up. There are some that are still in the midst of waking up. ...Speaking of." As Callia was explaining, another one of the crew came in. "Morning Jira." Callia greeted with a sort of smug smile, I looked over to my left to see an Arcanine woman in remarkably casual clothing, that being a gray sleeveless shirt with a white skull in the middle of the chest and a pair of green shorts, around her hips was a holster of sorts, it held two elongated square sections. My immediate thought was compacted pistols, or melee weapons. For all I new it was both.
As I looked up to her face, I noticed some ear jewelry. One set was at the middle outfacing sides, they were what looked like half inch teal roses, another set on the inner facing side at the same height spaced apart by two inches were a dual pair of chrome like spike on both ears, they appear to be adapted from the human design that'd wrap around the earlobe for her canid ears.
I stared for a moment as Jira groaned a greeting whilst her left hand clasped her head, she was leaned forward with arms on the counter as she sat down. Well hi rule 34 encarnet. I commented looking at the woman named Jira. Okay, seriously. Is the entirety of the crew gonna be like this? Serious question! I thought almost incredulously. It's almost been a running theme so far. Psycho obviously wasn't complaining on this little factoid, but Vlad was having the same thought about this as I.
"I told you to go easy on that bottle." Callia said with an proven right smile, she then went back into the kitchen to get something.
"Mmm...not my fault it was so good...and so smoooooth...ooohh..." Jira replied, then made another groan nodding off a little, a few moments later Callia came back with a glass of water. And of all things, it had alka seltzer bubbling at the bottom of the glass, if not something like it. "Thaaank yooou..." Jira almost meekly said with a thankful smile, grateful to have something to help the hangover.
She waited a couple more moments before she started sipping at her drink. The whole time I just watched the whole situation, deciphering what kind of work she would be doing here among many other things. I then felt a tap on my shoulder, I looked over to Zilnia with a raised brow with a hardened look of curiosity. She leaned up to my ear and whispered. "That's the captain."
Seriously? I thought almost deadpan, my face portraying that same comment. I had another raised brow as I saw her eyes widen a little, looking off to my other side, she then pointed at that same direction with her right hand. I looked back over with a sort of indifferent look, I saw Jira looking at me with a smile.
"Hi there." She said with what looked like a rather friendly smile. "You look cute."
"Darling, you would do best to nurse your drink before trying further." I suggested adding a small but cordial smile with a sort of posh voice, lightly deepening my voice for the effect to a pleasant tone and gesturing to her drink.
She looked at me for a moment with slightly pursed lips, lightly nodding while turning back to her drink. "Yeah your right..." She agreed, taking another drink. Handled that fairly well. I thought turning back to my own, taking another drink and closing my eyes and focused on the taste, having a light smile to my features, a feeling of calm setting in. A few seconds later, I opened my right eye glancing at a staring Zilnia, looking at me like she couldn't believe what just happened.
I gave her a look silently asking, what? She gestured to Jira, looking from her to me back and forth a couple times before bringing another hand up to empower the notion of her motioning her incredulous emotion to what just happened.
I raised up my hands with my confused look. "Oh here we go." Galavena thought just watching all of this transpire. A couple more minutes of silent conversing with the computer tech, steadily rose up to nigh incredulity, in the midst of this Jira called my attention again so to speak.
"So I hear you've made a few friends here already." Jira spoke with a calm smile, from what she's heard he's kind of eccentric, mostly friendly demeanor and a large fascination of weapons, and games the crew plays in the rec room. She hasn't heard much from Aiz than some of the crucial bits of information of their acquired human. That anxiety of his seemed rather troublesome as well. Including the added though not confirmed malfunctioning insulin production of his system.
At that comment, my face made a sort of look of confusion with one furrowed brow, I swivel around to look at the supposed captain of this ship of what appears to be an all female crew so far. "Oh?" I simply inquired.
"Good seeing your jarring pick up didn't stop that idea, as I'm sure everyone you've talked to agrees that they'd wouldn't blame some hostility from having a glorified kidnapping."
I looked at her with a sort of irritated look at the term 'glorified kidnapping'. "I'm sorry, but there's nothing glorified to what happened yesterday. That was by fucking definition of kidnapping, with a baffling level of gaul doing it at a school of all places in broad fucking daylight." I replied, still sore on that topic understandably.
She just had a sort of shit eating grin. "Yeah, we tend to be ballsy like that. Plus, that was the quickest spot for pickup." Jira admitted, I just gave her a deadpan look.
"You could of gone to my house in the middle of the night, while everyone was sleeping, put some sedatives in my system and hauled me off." This comment sparked some widened eyes from the four women. It took them a second to realize I was serious. Jira raised a finger for a moment about to say something, dropping then attempted again. "That actually sounded a lot smoother."
"Right?" I said with a more of an intensified tone.
"Well, the other way was more fun anyways." I just rolled my eyes at that. Jira then changed the subject. "Did you get a full tour?"
Oh, alright then. I see how this shit is. "For the most part." I replied. "Didn't get a full chance to get a gander at engineering, or the bridge, I'm sure there's still a few places I need to familiarize myself with." I added, I needed to know what was where if anything happened. Then a sudden thought came into mind. "By the way, what's the mode of escape here? Escape pods? We get in a drop ship in the hanger? Something else entirely?" If there is a hanger bay.
"Smart question, we have enough pods to snugly fit all the crew. And we have a hanger with a ship or two we could use in an emergency. And if absolutely necessary. Some of the crew quarters can be used as makeshift pods."
"Are they modular?" I asked, meaning the crew quarters now curious.
Jira then a made a face as if not so sure how to answer that. "...Yes and no." One of those situations. At this Callia came back over before Jira could continue explaining. "Since I'm sure you've had good amount of time to socialize with our captain. I think it's time for breakfast, no?" It was now that my stomach was protesting it's lack of fill. I looked over to Callia with an amicable expression while she asked what we'd like. I just smiled at her, then replied. "Oh, surprise me." I asked with a warm laid back smile. Callia smiled back with a knowing nod. Shortly I was presented with a breakfast crêpe in a wonderful display, and next to it on a smaller plate was a cinnamon roll that looked to be freshly made.
I had a pleasantly amazed look on my face as I marveled at a realization, while on here. I'm going to have amazing food like this every damn day! Naturally, the taste was just heavenly. "Oh my god! This is better than Ihop!" I said while leaning my head back, then going back to my heaven on a plate.
"Ihop you say?" Was Callia's prying reply. She had not heard of this Ihop before, though the way of the human's joyful indulgence it must of been a fairly good place for food. "Mm...restaurant chain around where I lived. God damn this is better than the one I gave kudos to the chef on." I was having a straight up foodgasm. Callia casually beamed with the praise. "It's official, I love your cooking...just, oh-mm!"
"Gordon fucking Ramsay would be praising this!!" Psycho said pleasantly. I don't know if I can even go back to some of the cooking I've been familiar with after living with this. I noted for the future.
"And another's enthralled." Jira quipped as she ate her breakfast, even though there was a pleased smile on her own face. She'll never get tired of the ice woman's cooking. Callia just leaned over to the captain with a pleased side smile. "He was making praises like this yesterday, third meal and the compliments haven't slowed." The cook said with a quiet voice.
"I can see why your liking him, you are a great cook after all." Jira commented in the hushed tone Callia used.
"You and the rest of the crew know damn well." Callia said with that same smile now with an equivalent eyebrow waggle. A short while later with a few hushed conversations we were finished, as Jira stood up, she piped up. "Okay, William was it? Come on, we're gonna familiarize you with the bridge." Jira said with a follow motion and a not so suggesting tone. It nonetheless had a friendliness to it still. A few seconds later as she walked away she looked back to see me looking at her with a not so sure and understanding look.
"Dude, come on.-" Jira began, Vlad put another tally for lax but potentially dangerous captain. "I know you heard me, get up and walk with me. The quicker we do this, the quicker you can get to doing your own thing, I'm sure most of the crew needs to have at least some bearing for the new guy on the ship." Admittedly she did have a point in a few regards. I had a minor eye roll with a quiet sigh, I slightly flinched when my left shoulder was given a pat, I realized it was one of the reassuring kind a second after, I looked over to that shoulder seeing Zilnia with a calming smile. Granted the would be calming aspect didn't have much effect on me, though I couldn't help giving a light smile back a her.
I then uneasily eyeballed Galavena's meal, a clear sack that looked to be the size of a basketball earlier, I could see the two four inch protrusions that were her fangs. I quickly got over it, looking away and not thinking about it while mentally swiping the thought to the side. A thing that's helped me in recent years for some things that would spike my anxiety. As I got up, I heard the metal thunk of a soda can being placed on a hard surface, I turned around looking at Callia who had another soda for me. For some reason her smile felt a sum more effective in reassurance, the next comment helped my state of mind a little bit. "If things get a little more intense for you, you can hide out in here." Was the cooks quiet comment to me.
A brighter smile showed from me seeing I already have two places for me to chill at, Callia just got brownie points for the kindness. "Thanks, I'll keep it in mind." I said with actual sincerity, I grabbed the can of cherry dr.pepper and walked up to Jira, we walked in silence for a while as I got my music situated with one earbud in my left ear. Along the way I opened my soda taking small drinks periodically, shortly, the arcanine woman came up with a conversation starter.
"Kind of expected you to be a little more talkative." She said in a kind of unsure tone, taking note of my lack of conversing. I glanced at her with a raised brow at the comment, I didn't really have a verbal response, so I was just quiet while following her just two paces behind. While behind her, I was taking the time to analyze and memorize key features, keeping eye on her gait, fur pattern for possible identification scenario of multiple of the same species. In the midst of that part, my brows furrowed with a thought. Is that even a thing anymore for most of them? Just by Jira alone, diversification already made it's route through the species already making multiple unique variations. With that in mind, I memorized her form regardless. Her voice is already mostly committed to memory for later identification for a distance to crowd settings.
The whole way precautions were formulated, mostly for the sake of my survival, and partly I couldn't help it because of the environment I was in. Most of them I cleared to the side, some to a backburner of sort for further exploring, with a few being kept for the immediate moment. Like the multiple hiding spots I've seen that I can utilize, another route of thought needed the location of the escape pods and familiarize controls. Already have multiple mostly successful methods to end some crews lives if need be, a portion of those methods utilizing the odd level of trust I have been given so far. Though, that thought process was halted for the time being.
I was rather liking some of the crew so far and wasn't inclined to act upon the actions...and underlining impulses. If some situations do arise to fruition, I'd need ways to curb those little compulsions. Unneeded death is always a dreadful thing. I thought coldly. This was one of many thoughts that swam through my mind among other things, with that I quickly snuffed a small dreaded smile as I saw the area to the bridge. Just before one would enter the area, I noticed a indent that encircled the hall, my immediate thought was an emergency mechanism to seal off the area incase of a breach.
Considering the amount of sci-fi I've seen, this is either going to be some sort of door that'll pop up, or a shield that will trap air and keep occupants from flying out. Aside the first observation, I went about looking over everything I could while walking on. I looked on with an contemplative gaze, the bridge reminded me of multiple I've seen, bit of Star trek, dash of Halo, pinch of Mass Effect and some others that which their names escape me.
Off to the side of the room, I saw Hailix doing her job looking at star charts and such. Quite a few of the others I saw in the canteen all doing their thing, some of the others at work stations chatting, all in a sort of uniform. After a moment I hear a whistle and everyone's attention took their cue and looked at the entrance to see Jira and me, there was a slew of mutters and whispers. If anything, it had me fascinated.
"Alright everybody, I assume you all know of our latest little pick up. His name is William. He's going to be with us for a while, give him the same courtesy and respect like the rest of the crew. For some of you that aren't too fond of humans, rein your shit in and don't be a dick. And no, he's not free game, some of you know who I'm talking about." Jira explained eyeing some of the specific crew members so far, then gave a kind of tired tone for the next comment. "If you really want to, for gods sake ask. If I find out any of you are making forced advances, I'll bust your ass myself." She next warned, this pulled me out of whatever thought I had and melted my almost disinterested look to be replaced with shocked eyes that turned to Jira.
Excuse me? I thought kind of incredulous.
"I swear to god I heard one of them say 'We have some new dick girls!'. Now, this is going to be the best part of our lives. Or, this is going to be a kind of hell we had no hope to prepare." Psycho noted then added. Naturally, He had no qualms and had high hopes with the first part.
"Contrary to the usual things I'm against with Psycho. I'd rather not deal with some sort of 'what fresh hell is this?' kind of moment and rather go with the optimistic view."
Yeah, that and I'm sure Psycho's hopes of yesterday just went up by a couple dozen percent.
Arizona's Let Me Touch Your Fire stratus remix came up as Psycho chuckled. "Oooh-ho-ho, you have no idea." With that comment, some of these women are hopping out of their workstations quickly coming our way. I did not expect this to be honest, to which my eyes and brows went about portraying that feeling. Oookay then, that's not...-oh god there's a fucking dozen! I thought in slight panic as I beheld the multiple morphs greeting me. "Hi..." I replied with a level of uncertainty in my voice. Okay... I began before listing what I saw. Rhydon that looks like a foot shorter than I expected, a Marowak, oh. Course, can't not have the eeveelutions... I thought dryly at the end. Then continued. Dragonair? morphology is a bit off with some off coloration. Is that a Bayleaf!? Huh, a Flaaffy. Kinda up there in 'aww' factor. And a Grovyle. Alrighty then, diversity is pretty high in this ship, well if anything the canteen kinda already solidified that notion.
"I'm Venara, weapons logistics support." The Rhydon said with a smile, some of them had humanoid bodies to a degree.
"Amourah, navigation. Hope your stay goes well." Greeted the Dragonair morph next with a smile. Psycho was already going over his ravings. "Is it true what they say about humans?"
I just gave her a look. Oh this should be good... "That is highly dependent of what presumptions have been made." I replied.
"In high stress situations is it actually possible for a human to exhibit levels of strength not seen beforehand in the individual?" Amourah asked with a fascinated glint in her eyes. And dare I say excited smile waiting for the answer.
I raised an index finger, that soon pointed to her while showing a face debating on what I'd say next. "Yes actually, it's called hysterical strength. There's been multiple documented instances, even elderly have come up on some documentation of the feat."
"Sweet!" Amourah said with a fist pump. "Fama, you owe me fifty credits!" she added grinning at the Flaaffy morph.
"Aw, damn it." Was the other girl's reply as she handed her a credit chit.
I looked at the exchange with an interested raised brow. "Had a little bet, eh?"
"Yep, Fama here didn't believe me when I came across an article talking about humans with temporary augmented strength." Amourah replied as she held the chit above some wrist worn device, once she the item near it, it floated above the device and evaporated so to speak, to which it was thus sucked into it showing a counter going up. Strangely enough, though more likely convenient if it was in widespread use. The numbers where the same as human's used, or these were coincidentally used among the ranging species of this broad pokemon based race, or maybe it would be races?
This went on like this for a solid thirty minutes, I as well became eased...not exactly the right word, comfortable more like while conversing with these women. Truth be told, I never had a problem talking to the other sex, hell, I have had friends over the years that were girls, including one I've known for most of my life. Her mom is also a long time friend of my mother's as well. Back to the topic, this was spent clearing up a bunch of things, and some of the rather idiotic things that came of the courtesy of the internet. The internet, a god damn blessing, and the most atrocious thing to be. More information than the world's libraries combined, best community think tank conspirator, distribution of science, and a bigger archive of porn than anything could hope to store. Well, that's if you had a warehouse filled with those five dimensional storage disks. I myself still want at least one of those things, insane storage capacity for the size, and could save so much more hardware space for more things in a computer housing. Three hundred and sixty terra's for a roughly one inch wide disk. Any gamer would kill for that kind of storage.
Speaking of such things, the conversation kind of veered into that kind of discussion of tech. Namely humanities tech. That storage disk was one of the discussion topics.
"The space those things could save would be fucking amazing! That's if the damn things can get mainstream and cost efficient for production levels of that size, with in accordance of the devices needed to read them as well." I said remarking on the storage disk of the current topic.
"We have something similar I guess, but nowhere the size of those, granted they hold a lot more. But if we could have something like that size with the same capacity of the Ishfaldin storage disks currently installed, that'll both cut back on weight and free up space." Replied Zese Rogar, a Jolteon tech. Granted I fully expected seeing the previously mentioned eeveelutions, but a small part of me is still getting over the fact most of the crew is a morph of some sort. Psycho's been having a hayday so far, a good portion of the time to my chagrin. But, I couldn't blame him for the most part, if so sometimes begrudgingly. As I talked with the consistanting crew of the bridge, my eyes would catch the movement of what I swore to be a shimmer, a few times I took a few seconds with slightly narrowed eyes as they darted and focused on multiple stops where it was seen last at that instant. I'm not gonna lie, my paranoia was spiking to a fair degree because of it.
But before I could really start looking, one of the other's dragged in my attention. Admittedly, I had a lovely time talking with them, talking about tech mostly. Both parties learning a fair bit. Granted, they also knew more about different tech on earth than I've come into contact with. The conversation was rather enlightening as well oddly enough, It's been a very long time since I've had a conversation like this. An hour in, Jira finally pulled me away, not before of bid to later conversations, not often I meet some conversationalist, though I wasn't much of one myself however that is depending on subject.
Shortly me and Jira were traveling down the hallway again, as we walked, I was noticing the shimmer again, flitting on my right. Rathar blatantly, such things become so easy to find when one knows what to look for. So, I had a small idea of how I'll interact. "Hey Jira? Could you hold my drink for a sec?" I ask with a normal tone.
Jira in turn slowed a step, "Oh, sure." She replied as she held out her hand, I then hand her my drink. Then a second later my arm thrusted to my right as I followed in the motion, in the movement I impact the shimmer as my forearm was riding up the throat of whoever was cloaked that was followed by a grunt, all the while Jira was being bewildered. In that same action I noticed a sort of straight clawed hand showed up besides my neck, the shimmer was of a very familiar shape as I stared angrily into whoevers eyes it was. Oh the kill a bitch vibe was positively radiating from me, I was soon presented with the form of a decloaked Zoroark who just grinned unabashed at me like something great happened.
"Hi, wondered how long I could keep going. Couple times I thought you almost had me heheh. You got good eyes, for a guy who needs glaces. Heh, nice rough patch on the left lens by the way." The Zoroark with strangely deep blue hair that reminded me of the color galaxy blue from GTA 5. She had bizarrely vibrant green eyes with specks of gold.
"Gods damn it Tissara, what did I tell you about lurking? Especially around the new guy." Jira reprimanded. She had a feeling that Tissa was going to be stalking around. She was surprised however at how seemingly easy this human found her. She doubted it was immediately, but was sure it was shortly after they left.
"Leeeet me guess, you've been hanging around reeeaall fucking close, huh? I fucking knew I was seeing shimmers moving around, go fucking figure it's a Zoroark. And on that, what are you? Scout, stealth ops? Or are you the assassin sort?" I say, then began questioning, staring dead in the eye. There was a side of me that wasn't gonna take this shit.
"She's mostly stealth ops, however, she's not the really close combat type." Jira said with a vexed tone telling me this is one of many times she does this kind of thing. As this happened, some Nine lashes began playing with the song Never Back Down.
"Well I mean I can..." Tissara says with an eye roll, grin unfaltering before she looked back at me while her hand intended to possibly kill me came to her side. "Though my main thing is espionage. You get a pretty penny for some juicy tidbits, as some of you humans would say. Pluuus, in this line of work, gotta get your hands dirty time to time..."
With narrowed eyes I stared at her for a moment, then decided to let her go. Granted, she probably would of had my ass on the ground already, with a possible gaping neck wound, in turn of backing off. I look at Jira again, this time with a narrow eyed raised brow. "Your fucking mercenaries." I say rather matter-of-factly. It'd made sense so far.
"Do we really give that vibe?" Jira asked with a sort of unsure face, then glanced at Vera, who in turn just shrugs with a tilted head.
"Mmmm' more of contractors."
"Ya'll are still fucking mercenaries." I reply looking at the two, not only have I been abducted in every meaning of the word, but I was nicked by mercenaries of all things. God damn alien mercenaries. Though, in the realm of possibility, I'm most likely not the first in history. It'd be of the utmost stupidity to think I'm an only case.
"I wonder if something like the MIB is making rounds..." Psycho thought randomly, straying over to yesterday. None pertaining as it was, it is actually a valid curiosity.
I close my eyes while tilting my head forward, index and middle fingers of my left hand rubbing between my eyebrows in irritation. "Fuuuuucking great..." I somewhat quietly groaned. This just brightened my situation...
"Ehhhh, silver lining, there's a lot of eye candy."
Psycho... I thought in a tired voice. Shut the fuck up.
"So um...do you still want to look at engineering?" Jira asked tentatively after a few moments. If ever I try to escape. The possibility alone is miniscule, let alone getting a feasible plan. Planning alone is going to be atrociously difficult, since I've never been the planner in my friend group. Though, this is a train of thought for another time. So, with a long sigh I reply.
"Might as fucking well." I sighed with a sort of exasperation.
Jira claps her hands together with a apologetic smile. "Okay, this way then." She says taking a few steps before stopping mid step, she spun around sturnly pointing at Vera. "Tissara Folgra, no stalking the human. Got it?"
"Alright." Tissara said dismissively with an equal smirk.
"I mean it," Jira added with a shake of her finger. "this foot will find your ass, so help me." That last bit amused me.
The vixen then brought up her hands in a surrender. "I get it, I get it. Talk to you later." Vera said then began walking away, as she passed me though, she patted my shoulder as she added a little more sultry. "Definitely talk to you sometime, sweetheart." I had a mixed expression, not entirely sure how to take that. Through that time, Psycho was using my peripheral vision to do some major ogling, loving the somewhat more humanoid body.
As soon as Tissara was far enough, Jira sighed. "Sorry about her, she's...gods how do I put this..."
"Sort of invasive? Likes to lurk a bit much? Get's too in her occupation?" I list off, trying to help her. As I did this, my paranoia engine just got an injection of nos. Dear god the the things coming to mind...
"I, um...yeah...yeah, we'll go with that... She can be difficult, but she's great at what she does." Jira said, ears drooping and tone appearing tired again. Seconds later she realizes she's holding my soda, in turn looking at it then to me. "Do...you mind if I have drink?" She asks while pointing at it. I stare at her with a deadpan look for a moment, afterward rolling my eyes while waving her off an okay. After she takes said drink she gives the soft drink a sort of bewildered look.
"Wow. Damn, that's dangerous. ...Wonder if this will go good with some of that Captain Morgan..." The Arcanine morph said with surprise, then trailed off.
"Ay." I sounded, bringing back Jira to the current task.
"Hm? Oh, oh, sorry. Yes, uh let's go." Jira spoke, coming back to the moment, she handed back my drink, in which I wiped the rim with my shirt as we began walking again. I was beginning to wonder how she became captain and why. It was somewhat comforting how laidback she seemed, if though a bit odd. Granted, I'd rather deal with a welcoming and leisurely captain than an hard and irritable sort. The former so much easier to deal with and reason, I'd dare say she'd be the type if I'd poke fun, she'd poke back with a smile.
A while later a few small conversations and about three and a half roughly three minute songs later we made it to engineering, well, more likely in this case the area of engine techs it was a fairly large chamber housing a engine core that looked like a cross of the ezo engine of Mass effect 2 and a sort of fusion reactor with a dash of something else I couldn't place. With seeing this I made a hum of interest, I felt like looking around even. It all just seemed so fascinating to me.
As my vision washed over the electronics, I noticed someone approaching to my right, as soon as I glanced over, I saw a bipedal dragon like woman, skin colored pale faded yellow and darkened tan. A well toned body with a fat tail trailing behind as long as she is tall, two heads above me at that, among the things I saw with the tight fit clothing with what seemingly looked like yoga pants colored black and pink with a black top, one thing that stuck out besides her pleasant to look upon draconic features and white hair. Her eyes, curious eyes colored a beautiful cyan that practically glowed, with dark reddish pink pupils that dotted the center of each orb. To accentuate those eyes was a sort of masquira that was a few shades lighter than her pupils, with that I also saw a trio of freckles under her left eye. On her long neck was going with the color theme, a pink choker adorned her collem, aside from her casual wear.
I saw a wrist device I noticed most of the crew has, though, this one seemed somewhat modified, entirely likely for the work she does in the engine room as I'd probably start calling this area. And with the final items of notice were a sort of electrician utility belt one would see at Home Depot loosely gripping her hips, sagging to her left side. And a pair of what appears to be tinted safety goggles hung around her neck that looked like some sort of custom Dewalt product.
And here I am feeling like a midget... I thought as I actually had to look up to her face, it was like meeting my mom's friend High Tower and walking past this one kid I'd see in the hallway at school that seemed part street light, she casually waved at Jira with her approach.
"Fuck melons, this bitch's legs could crush rib cages like that one chick from Octopussy!" Psycho noted kind of intimidated.
Fucking seriously... I was right there with him. She screamed don't piss me off just looking at her. I was pretty sure that tail of her's could break me in half in one swing, though, that could be a false positive in that regard, she might be able to sit with it entertainingly enough.
"What's up Jira, making the rounds? Or are you just showing our newly acquired human around?" The debatably lizard or dragon woman asked with a pleasant sounding gruff voice that had a sort of boston accent, then nodded to me.
"Guess kind of both, he wanted to see where everything is while he stays on so he'll have some bearings."
"You sure that's a good Idea?" The most likely engineer said with a note of concern.
I took parcial offence. "The fuck am I gonna do? I'm an out of shape nineteen year old on a ship of creatures of wild abilities!! The actual fuck am I gonna do?!" I blurt out incredulously with side stretched arms and equally incredulous expression. The least vertically challenged of this interaction stared at me sort of stunned. She looked me up and down. Trying to find things unknown to me.
"You don't seem that out of shape-...I see now." She said, midway I partially turned while I cupped the underside of my belly, doing away with the deception I have with my comfort fit shirt. She looked at said belly with a note of surprise.
"Huh." She sounded with understandance. "Okay, I stand corrected."
"Yeah." I agreed with a slight edge of indignance. Though, I was giving a front to my level of possible threat to help mitigate suspicion, granted I was a little miffed from her comment. I did genuinely need to make personal 'landmarks' so I can find my way around and not just rely on the what I'm gonna dub the sps, kind of like gps but more centralized to inside the ship. On that thought, it'd probably still function as the regular system and be used on things like shore leave and such the like... Contemplation for a different time.
"Okay, Will. It's going to be imperative that you start working out. Your normal level of energy for high active movement is not going to be anywhere to bare minimum of sufficient with our stay here."
Nein scheisse arschloch. I retort the voice of logic in german. I've been excruciatingly aware of this, I just never had the money or the ambition...
"The better in shape you are, the longer you'll last...In both ways." Psycho added with a grinning tone at the end. "And separate thought...we're at the perfect height that if she hu-" Psycho began before subsequently being DiNozzo'd. "Aah! God damn sons a bitching-"
"Shut yer shit-caster." Said sternly the voice of majority reason vote. Psycho meanwhile quieted into grumbling from his logical halve's reprimanding. He just couldn't have his usual fun since the main body here got abducted. It's really been frustrating the voice of perversion and violence.
I began laughing inward when I heard Vlad's silencing reply, oh I was gonna need to use that one later. I quickly realized I was staring off for a moment when Jira said my name, my head lightly twitched left and right as I blinked a few times. I looked at Jira with a curious look and raised brow.
"You alright there?"
Took me only a second to process. "Yeah, just spacing out a bit. Sorry 'bout that." I reply languidly.
"It's fine I call you Will right?" The white haired possible dragon woman asked, I give her a 'it's fine' sort of nod and expression. "You can call me Royce, main gal of this little operation." She says with a smile showing some pride. "Heard your a techy kind of guy. If you want, I could show you around the area. I'm sure some of the ladies in here would like to meet a human."
That certain smile of hers at the end didn't escape me, igniting a twinge of suspicion, given that, I was interested in having a gander around. "Fuck it, why not." I reply, a small tone of interest. Let's indulge my love of tech.
"Guess I'll see you in a bit." Jira said before checking a device she fished out of a pocket. "Shoot me a message when you guys are done." She said in a little more of a friendly tone before she began to leave.
"Will do J." Royce replied with a half smile, she then looks down at me. "Ready for our little adventure in engineering, little buddy?" She says in a more of a humorous tone trying to seem a little more friendly.
I took exception at being called 'little buddy'. "Oi."
"Hahah, sorry, habit of mine when I meet people smaller than me." Royce apologized with more of a smile now.
"Cheeky dick." I say amusedly back. She just smiled more with another small laugh.
"Oh we're gonna get along just fine." Royce says while patting my shoulder. A moment later I was following her down the stairs as we idly chatted.
