I'm meeting them today. I fear today might be my last day alive. Last night I went for a walk and to get food. I felt like I wasn't being watched for once. But while walking near an intersection, a car came barreling through at 60 mph or something. It t-boned a car and the car skidded in my direction. I managed to get out of the way but the car was totaled. The woman inside was unconscious, and I ran out to get her. The entire front of the car was smashed in from the impact with the wall to my right. I needed to get her out of that metal death trap. I managed to get her out the passenger side and laid her on the ground. She had a piece of metal in her thigh that protruded out around 3 inches. I had no idea how deep it was, and I'm not a medical professional. But I know your not supposed to remove it. But it was gushing blood so I undid my belt and made a makeshift tourniquet. I managed to slow the bleeding. Reality started to snap back in place in my head as I heard a siren in the distance. I surveyed my surroundings and saw most people just stood and watched from the other side of the street. I saw the guy who hit her being pulled out of a window by two other guys, his car about 2/3rds the length it used to be. Two ambulances came flying, one came to the guy across the street and the other to me. The paramedic asked me to say what happened as he checked her over. I told him everything and asked if she would be fine. He told me she was, and thanks to my belt and me leaving the object in her leg. Who would have thought that my first aid badge in boy scouts would be useful for me 20 years later. He asked if I wanted my belt back and I said no. As I was starting to walk away the cops came up and asked if I could make a statement. I'm not the biggest fan of cops but I agreed. He turned around and brought me to the car to get the paperwork. I told him what had happened, and he set the pen and paper in the car, saying “we're done here”. He said that in a serious tone, and I bagan walking away. “Hey” he said. I turned around and he continued “I heard you saved that woman's life”. “I don't think I saved her, just gave her enough time for the paramedics.” and I began walking away. But the cop continued “I see, it seems you did the opposite to the other guy. The one that flew off the mountain pass on mt. charleston a few days ago. Perfect place to go off as well, must have been over a 1000 foot plunge”. My blood vacated my face, leaving only a liquid colder than liquid nitrogen. “Excuse me?” I hesitantly responded in a shaky tone. “Nothing, you saved one life, and ended another. I think god would call that even. Don't you think so?” His voice is getting more and more cheerful with each passing syllable. Like a hunter who's trapped its prey. “I can’t really say, god hasn’t spoken to me yet. I- I’ll tell you when he does.” I said, the words slipping through my frozen lips. He begins to laugh a little. “Well you soon will get your answer, whether it was even or not. But who am I to make that decision” the cop slipped out the words through his low hanging laughter. He took a few steps toward his car and he looked back at me. In the same low voice from earlier he told me “Good luck with your meeting tomorrow”. He got in, closed the door and drove away. I stood there frozen, before returning to my hotel room in fear. They own the police. Or at least have them in their back pocket. I go tomorrow to meet them. I don’t know what's gonna happen. If I dont reply, or send another message, assume I'm dead.
