《The villain and his grim angels》prologue part two

Prologue part two.
There was a lot of questions I wanted answers for but those would probably be answered during my orientation, so I asked the question that was on my mind the most.
"Do you have my belongings?" This was a loaded question, depending on their reaction I could figure out who was the one that saved me and if there was magecraft in this world, considering the fact that the only way to open up the case containing the origin bullets was to inject a certain amount of prana.
"You mean this?" Karasuba was the one that answered my question as she took out a small suitcase that was still sealed tight, along with my mystic code the Thompson contender and five origin bullets. She was twirling the gun around in her hand with a creepy smile on her face as she examined it closely.
"Quite an impressive piece wouldn't you say Shirou, I wonder how you got a hold of something like this." Her eye's narrowed for a split second before handing it over to me.
"..." Wordlessly I inspected the mystic code for any signs of tampering, it appeared that so far they didn't do anything to the gun but I could be wrong, I should probably check it once more with structural grasp when I recovered. I cranked open the barrel to check if the origin bullet was still loaded, but it was completely empty.
"..." I gave Karasuba an accusing look which she just shrugged off. "I saved you from dying so you shouldn't mind if I used it for a spin."
I pocketed the mystic code along side the case but Karasuba kept the five origin bullets no doubt it was included in the 'saviour's fee'. At least I still had twenty origin bullets left but I couldn't access them without my magecraft. It looks like I needed to procure some normal bullets for the gun.
"Do you have other questions that doesn't involve MBI?"
I shook my head, there was no point in giving up my information by asking obvious questions which I could find on my own.
"Okay considering the fact that you don't have your MBI card yet and you are still being treated, I can't give you a proper orientation but I could fill in some basic knowledge about MBI and the sekirei plan."
"But first lets me introduce you to your future colleagues and my sekirei." He pointed to the one of the two women standing beside him. She wore a kimono like shirt with one sleeve missing, and had pink hair in a side ponytail with two daisy clips. She strikes me as a young cheerful teenager but looks could be deceiving.
"Her name is Benitsubasa and she is sekirei number 105 with the nickname of red sekirei. Contrary to her looks she's rather feisty so be careful Shirou." He gave a small laugh as Benitsubasa gave a small pout. " Natsuo your not meant to say that in front of our colleague."

"And the other one is sekirei number 104 Haihane with the nickname of blue sekirei." He gestured to the remaining woman. Instead of wearing a shirt and pants, she wrapped bandages around her body which was covered by a tattered dark kimono. She had dishevelled grey hair, a studded choker, and narrow eyes, giving her a wicked daunting appearance.
"Kukuku nice to meet you Shirou." I nodded back to her in response. "It's nice to meet you too Haihane."
"Hey what about me." Benitsubasa asked as she felt left out.
"Kukuku that's because he knows I'm better than you."
"... It's nice to meet you too Benitsubasa." Seeing that we would soon become workmates it would be prudent of me of me to keep up good relations with them, even if we would go to blows eventually as there could only be one winner.
"Ha take that Haihane." Benitsubasa said to her partner before turning back to face me. "Nice to meet you too Shirou."
"Now that the introductions are out of the way lets begin." Said Natsuo as he still had the same lifeless smile plastered on his face.
"First you need to understand what a sekirei and ashikabi is. Hmm how should I explain it, a sekirei is basically an extraterrestrial life form from the ages of gods with inhuman powers. They have what is known as a sekirei core and that is the source of their power and their existence, but aside from that they are similar to humans in their genetic code. They also seek for their destined partner or ashikabi as their number one goal in life."
"..." I see so they were basically the equivalent of phantasmal beings from my world, but why would they seek out humans unless they required something from them. Maybe no, I shouldn't jump to conclusions I still need more information, I guess I would have to check MBI's database once I receive proper access.
"An ashikabi is a human with unique genes that could empower sekirei by exchanging DNA with one another. The result is a 'winged' sekirei and an everlasting bond or connection is created between the two. This is mostly done with your destined partner but an ashikabi could forcibly 'wing' other sekirei without their consent." He paused for a moment before continuing.
"This is considered top secret within MBI so don't tell anyone else, but when an ashikabi is killed all of his winged sekirei are terminated alongside with him."
"..." That was interesting, very interesting so a viable strategy to become victorious within this plan was to ignore the sekirei and aim for the ashikabi a weak normal human. If that is the case I could win this so called 'sekirei plan' within a couple of days injured or not, all I needed was to snipe them off one by one or set an explosive at their location. But there was still the final trial and I probably won't be allowed to kill them considering that it was top secret and I would soon be working with MBI. In which case it would be best to wing as many sekirei as possible? No I shouldn't jump to conclusions I still need more information.

"MBI stands for Mid Bio Informatics and currently is the number one conglomerate within the world. As you could tell from the name it was originally a pharmaceutical company, but soon it became an economic, technological and medical network, controlling the world in every field and having its own private army. It's headquarters is located at Teito tower and it is in charge of the Sekirei Plan."
"..."So I was right in my speculations, but It appeared I still underestimated them to think they were this powerful. But this was a pleasant turn of events for me, I could still achieve my goal if Miyu is in this world without needing to win this so called 'sekirei plan'.
"...!" Subconsciously I whipped out the Thompson Contender in a flash and pointed it at Karasuba, as I felt a sudden surge of blood lust directed at me which came from her.
She gave me the same smile as before but this time she didn't even try to hide her intentions, her eyes was narrowed and her face was stiff. "What was that Shirou, do you mean to not fight and participate in the sekirei plan?" I could feel her feelings through the connection we shared, ashikabi or not she was serious one wrong move and I would stay in the hospital forever.
"... I don't know what your talking about Karasuba." She must have sensed my intentions through the bond we shared with one another, in which case I wonder how far does this 'bond' of ours goes. Depending on the result it could be used to great effects in battle. But now wasn't the time to test it out as I started to clutch my right arm with my left, as agonising pain coursed through my right arm from the sudden movement.
"Hmm I see that's fine then." She reverted back to her usual smile as she sensed my answer from our bond, I merely showed her a fragment of the darkness that resided within me. I could tell that we were eerily similar to one another or rather she reminded me of the past Shirou Emiya who had just lost Miyu but still retained hope. Was this the power of our connection as ashikabi and sekirei?
"Destined one..." I muttered to myself softly as I thought about the implications of such a bond.
"Anyway once you have recovered properly and given a proper discharge you would be joining me as a clerk for my department as my assistant. However your real occupation would be to maintain the sekirei plan as the disciplinary squad alongside with me. You will be given proper instructions and details once you are ready." Natsuo continued his explanation blatantly ignoring what just happened between me and Karasuba.
"Well we're done with the basic explanation is there anything you would like to ask?"
"... No thank you." There was lots of questions but none I wanted to ask of him for now, it was best for me to discover it on my own.
"Well It was nice chatting with you Shirou but it's time for us to go Benitsubasa, Haihane." Said Natsuo with his usual smile as he was about to leave the room.
"Roger that Natsuo." "Okay." His sekirei proceeded to follow him out of the room.
"..." Seeing that smile bugged me, it reminded me of the past where I had thought I lost everything and continued on blindly, but that caused me to lose even more. In the end it took me losing everything to finally realise my mistakes, but who was I to interfere with someone's else life I wasn't the shirou who believed in being a hero of justice anymore. I am the shirou that became the villain having doomed the world for my little sister, I don't have the right to save him as a person but maybe as a colleague?
"Wait before you go Natsuo I would like to give you a word of advice for your troubles." I stopped him leaving just in time, turning around to face me with his usual smile he waited for me to continue.
Giving him a mirthless smile I continued in a dull lifeless monotone voice that betrayed no emotions but the void within. "If you dwell too much on the lost star you fail to see the ones beside you until its too late."
"... Thank you Shirou I would keep your advice to heart." Natsuo said in response with his usual expressions, before leaving the hospital room. Although he said that I had a feeling he wasn't taking it seriously, he was too far gone in his own depression, but I wasn't expecting to save him that job belongs to another, all I could do was plant the seeds ahead of time before its too late.

The cities were built in the retro style of the 21st century, but the technology of the 24th century is ever present, mostly within the bodies of those mortally challenged monstrosities. After all, what turned them into these things was not an evolved organic virus, an alien disease, or some sort of magical artifact, it was the corrupted and reprogrammed nanobots within their bodies. Originally, they were meant to heal them and help them access the tech around them, but now they were the origin of this disaster. Among the rotting dead and the Nano-Z, as the survivors called them, Kardian Pandora awakens two months after getting bit by one of them. A young teacher at the local Resonance High, foolish and naive in his own way, but now driven by the Sapient AI in the nanobots inside his body to hunt down other Nano-Z and learn how to survive.
