'We won't get close to the separate house, but every hour uses a lantern, flash the light three times to show that you are safe. If you don't, we go in. And if you feel something is wrong or needs help. Shoot a gun as a signal.'
With Sherlock Holmes's offer, both Scarlet and her brother took a step back. Everyone returned to the main house and waited for an hour.
"Watson, if something happened to Mr. Redmond, can you go through those mines and save him right away?"
Whispered Sherlock Holmes. Watson nodded.
"When I was there, I already explored the safe path. Because Redmond Rosevelt had to prepare a safe path he could walk out."
Almost the end of an hour, Scarlet, Holmes, Watson and the others, walk to a window that can see a separate house until the long needle overlaps the number 12. One room in a separate house flashed light, 3 times, indicating that Redmond was alright, and every hour pass Scarlet smiled with relief.
When it was time for dinner, the maid came to inform.
"Everyone, dinner is ready."
Vegetable salad, boiled potatoes, grilled lamb, and gravy beautifully placed on the table. They had a delicious dinner. Scarlet Roosevelt was a great host, not bringing personal problems to worrying or uncomfortable guests. She pushed her worries about her brother to the bottom of her heart, talked about common matters, creating a friendly atmosphere with everyone.
Scarlet mentions the Latin poem, O Fortuna.
O Fortuna
velut luna
statu variabilis,
semper crescis
aut decrescis;
vita detestabilis
nunc obdurat
et tunc curat
ludo mentis aciem,
egestatem,
potestatem
dissolvit ut glaciem.
This discussion made it known that Sherlock Holmes knows nothing about poetry.
"I'm surprised," said Osborne, "I don't think a smart person like you has something unknown."
"I'm just a normal person don't have any superpowers," said Sherlock Holmes in a soft voice.
"I think our brains are like an empty storage room. Things that can be heard and seen are put into the room. If you let everything flow in, your brain will be overgrown with anything. When its time, it was impossible to bring the knowledge immediately. Finally, several important information flows out from the brain. So, it is very important that I do not replace any unuseful information in my brain. And I chose to enter information carefully and in order."

"Haha, you really have a unique way of thinking," smacked Osborne and laughed. He sipped the full glass of wine and stood up. "I hope that how to play billiards will be useful in your brain. Miss Scarlet, what do you say?"
"Gladly, the billiard room is on the opposite"
Scarlet gets up. Osborne turned to look at everyone in the room.
"Mr. Watson, if you please. Smith, and ... have Seamus ever played?"
At Osborn's invitation, everyone gathered around a 12-foot billiard table. Scarlet, Sherlock Holmes, and Travis know how to play. Watson and Seamus have never played before.
"Just play along. You will be fine."
Osborne said so, handing Watson a cue stick. Seamus, though following along, sat down in a chair and didn't make eye contact.
"Grab a stick like this ..."
Sherlock Holmes teaches Watson how to hold a cue. While Osbourne nodded, praising Travis's skill. Scarlet looked at the boy who was as indifferent as the room decoration doll. She thought for a moment, walked over, took two books from the bookshelf, and placed them on the table in front of Seamus.
"'Oliver Twist', 'A Christmas Carol', Charles Dickens' book. Have you ever read?" Scarlett sat down in the opposite chair. "I like 'A Christmas Carol' always my favorite."
Seamus Blake did not react to the book or Scarlet. But the young lady did not feel bad and keep talking.
"O Fortuna, the poetry of fate. If a curse contract binds fathers, I think we are all related by the same fate," says Scarlet, looking at the men playing billiards, but her gaze looks far away. The sound of Detective Holmes praises Watson's evolves skill leap through her ears.
"The day I learned that Father's boat wrecked, I keep crying and crying, feeling like everything is dark. The situation in the house is unstable every day. The servants began to hesitate, thinking to leave. I shut myself in the room and didn't care about anything. But my brother ... Redmond. One day he said to me ...

'Up to now, everything is worst. But it must pass. The future ahead will be beautiful and better. We cannot lose hope. Because if we forget to hope. Now there's really nothing left'
But at that time, I didn't care. Redmond just smiled and keep saying ...
'It's okay, Scarlet, I won't give up hope of your happy future.'
After that, I watched Redmond stand up as the family head. Stabilize the Rosevelt family once again. I looked at my strong brother, opposite me, who kept crying. That made me think, if I had my brother by my side, I could see a beautiful future, things became stable. And after that ... my father came back."
Scarlet was a little silent. Her face when speaking of her father who survived death is not a happy expression. Don't know if this feeling, the other family's heirs feel the same.
"At first, I was very happy. I think this is a happy future as Redmond said. But father changed like a different person, he insisted on going to the sea again without saying where to go or what to do. Redmond had a fierce fight with father. In the end, father left the house, ignoring the feelings of us. Now I knew it was because of that crazy treasure and my father's greedy passion was destroying Redmond. But this time I will be the hope for Redmond, I have to save him ..."
The tip of the sound disappeared until an instant of silence. Scarlet turned to smile at the boy, who was still expressionless. Her watery eyes gentle looked at the boy. She reached out and stroked the boy's hair, who had pursued a fate darker than herself.
"Seamus, the world still has beautiful things. You can't lose that hope."
The hour is almost over. Although this room can see a separate house but Scarlet wanted to go to where she can clearly see. She stood up, gave a faint smile at Seamus. And then what made her smile wide with a joyful feeling was that the thin hand picked up the book. 'A Christmas Carol' open to read.
Travis Smith also saw this scene. He was both shocked and delighted at the young master's reaction, and as Scarlet passed, he turned around, bowed his head and smiled.
"Almost complete the fourth hour."
Sherlock Holmes muttered, walking to open the window curtain that can see a separate house. Watson followed and stood beside. Osbourne focuses on the game. Travis glances at the side of Seamus reading a book.
Sherlock Holmes saw the lights from one of the separate house rooms lit and then went out. Redmond seems to use a lampshade to flash the signal. When the light was bright again, a black shadow suddenly flashed through. The light is always on; it does not blink three times as it should be. That was an anomaly that detectives like Holmes would never ignore.
"Something wrong."
Sherlock Holmes briefly told others and ran out of the room with Watson; they catch up with Scarlet, who noticed an abnormality and rushed out first.
"Miss. Rosevelt, don't rush closer to the bomb," shouted Sherlock Holmes, warning the lady. Then turning to his partner. "Watson !!!"
No need to say more, Watson rushed off at a faster speed than any national runner. Even in the darkness where clouds block the moonlight, he was able to run safely through the minefield. Watson handles the doorknob when he found out that it was locked and about to break into, his green eyes saw a small figure leaping out of the house's window.
"Holmes! Someone escaped that way!" Watson pointed out.

MANTIS: On Hiatus
Two young adults who were childhood friends are killed amidst a pandemic worse than our own. After many years apart, Rihelah was on her way to see Michael, hoping to rekindle their friendship on the day they would both lose their lives. The pair are unwittingly selected to represent Earth in a test set forth by godlike beings who are intrigued that our world gave rise to complex life without having been intentionally seeded by their kind. Michael and Rihelah are reincarnated as predatory insects upon a distant planet called Edon. Elves, Dwarves, Dragons and their kin, Goblins, Ogres, Humans, Lizardfolk, Orcs, and sapient arthropods known as Enkelyn all inhabit this beautiful world touched by magic. The tiny mantids must survive terrified and very much alone upon arrival, while neither is aware that the other has also been reincarnated upon the same island. Naked in their new chitinous exoskeletons, they must now brave the terrors of an alien world's food chain. Each will benefit from their years of experience on Earth, but they must somehow find a balance between old lives and new. Moderate mindsets and peaceful values from a mostly safe and privileged life on Earth must now contend and somehow coexist with the strange physiology of a new and unfamiliar body as well as the violent aggressiveness of a predator's mind. To top things off, the pair are about to find themselves struggling with their inner turmoil while swept up by terrible conflicts they know nothing about. Both endure the hardships of their new lives while attempting to understand and make proper use of a mysterious and terse video-game-like System that pops status notifications into their vision from time to time, but initially has no useful interface. Some of the options they are presented with sound enticing, but as with everything else in life, each choice has benefits and drawbacks... Author's Note: This story makes many changes to the original version, and readers of Mantid will find that many things in Mantis are new and different; especially after the first few chapters. I've learned a ton from writing like a madman, and also from the RR community. I appreciate you guys! :)
