《Equilibrium》14.) A man called King

Cat vanished from the sights of Oblivion and Archimedes, she rushes in an enormous speed and with few breaks towards the demon lands.
She passed through the main kingdom of Baharl continent and noticed some strange changes on the public streets. For example were big gates and defense walls build at important trafficking routes and she had some complications avoiding unpleasant questions from the guardsmen. Somehow some rumors have spread, about strange people gathering and wandering through the lands with a very destructive intention.
Finally it was unavoidable and she assassinated a complete garrison at a watchtower, very near the capital of Baharl, Songtae. Cat´s specialty is assassinating, she is in possession of a very odd but powerful ability, which allows her to fuse with the shadows and become a creature of pure darkness.
The only person who knows about this ability of hers, is Archimedes and he once said that it is an ancient technique inherited only within the old Hebraic clan, which is a long forgotten clan of powerful magicians and its told that the Hebraic magic is the origin of all magic.
But even with that said, Cat never told anyone where and why she has such a powerful ability.
After she left the watchtower, she finally stopped again as she reached the nearest outpost towards the demon lands.
The demon lands are very strictly guarded. They are recalled as an uncivilized continent, with lots of dangers, in addition this continent is very large and most parts aren´t explored yet. The commoners are mostly non-humans, but humanoid. Animal-humans and dark-bloods, which means humans with demon blood and also elemental beings live there.
And very near the borders towards Baharl and the Vilscard field, there are smaller and mostly black haired humans. You could say, they are like Asian commoners.
The Demon lands are not political reigned, in most of the parts a big group called “The Demon Clan” leads the people with some kind of strange and dangerous religion. But they nevertheless represent the idea of Anarchy. They preach vigilantism and Darwinism.
By outsiders their government would be called a ranking list, they judge from strength alone and each commoner has a number, which resembles their ranking within the complete continent. Additionally each part of the continent has its own top ranker. For this the rule “ the deeper you go into the demon lands, the stronger the opponents become”.
The higher the number of your ranking, hereby it counts from 200000k up to 1, the better people will handle you and treat you well. The negative, the higher you
are, the more people would like to assassinate you.
With that they would accomplish the ranking of their victim, but it is to say that top rankers aren’t to be easily defeated and its very seldom that one is replaced by defeat.
For the different parts of the demon lands, its separated into 7 rings. All of those rings are as big as a complete Kingdom, but the deeper you go into the middle, the smaller they get.
The 1 ring, the innermost, its nearly unknown by the normal commoners, because most ranker fail at the second rings top ranker. To change the ring you live in, you have to beat a test the Top ranker at your current ring invents or you have to replace the top ranker by defeating him.
For the second ring it is every time the same test, you have to land a single blow on the top ranker... in 500 years only 300 people have accomplished that.
And in addition to all those dangers, there are creatures in the demon lands which are as dangerous as S ranked creatures and the commoners must know how to beat or handle them. In fact, no commoner of the demon land is “weak” they overcome normal people by far.

With all those reasons to avoid the demon lands not enough, it is said that the mighty demons from the original Demon Clan, who fought long time ago with the gods and lost, had their black power spread throughout the lands and that this dark and evil power will infect all those of “good mental health” to destroy their minds and open them up for evil deeds.
So in short the Baharl Kingdom build a giant wall around their borders with the demon lands and as additional protection, the Vilscard field has also parts lying between both of them.
As Cat reaches the outpost, near the border, it was late in the night and to her surprise she cant notice any guards, nor living presences.
The outpost, a very mossy and in cracks covered defense tower with a small forecourt, is shrouded in darkness by the night.
Not a real problem for Cat, she can see perfectly at night, day or even in pitch black, but this time something feels off to her. At the whole tower not a singe torchlight nor any sign of in habitation is to recognize.
As she carefully sneaks around the tower towards the big iron gate, which should have normally separated the demon lands from the Baharl continent, she encounters a bloody battlefield with masses of human soldier corpses. The corner at the gate is a total mess, corpses everywhere and blood stains at every wall.
“Geez.. what a downer. This looks like a really one sided fight... well at least I can pass without any further trouble.” Cat monologues as she examines some of the corpses
As she goes further to the gate, it appears that named gate was crushed into millions of small iron shards by something. The strange thing, it seems as if someone or something has destroyed it to enter the demon lands and not to leave it.
“The corpses look like they were lying here around a week already... what on earth has the strength to demolish this many, well trained, guards?” Cat monologues to herself again and gets a strange feeling
And at the very moment Cat takes a step through the shredded gate, she recognizes a small change of the air behind her.
She instantly turns around and barely in the right time dodged a , with an enormous speed, flying spear.
The blood stained iron spear whiz next to Cats head and crushes into the ground, where it leaves a big impact mark.
“Hoh... that was a close one. So the knights templar were already send here huh.” Cat shouts in direction of a small silhouette standing in the shadows of the old tower.
“Haha, indeed you did well to dodge that, filthy scam! But you ran out of your luck meeting me here.” An energetic, but old sounding voice answered Cat from the silhouette
Cat wanted to reply something, but the moment she opens her mouth, she realizes a strong grip at her left shoulder.
Flooded by her natural instincts she ducks and turns around, as she surprised, by what she hit, inflicts a heavy impact with her right palm.
A special assassin skill, that allows one to harm the enemies blood flow, with a strong impact that inflicts weft waves by the hit.
Directly with her hit, the soldier corpse, which has grabbed Cats shoulder, explodes at the stomach where it has been hit. A lot of blood and intestines were blown through the air.
A bit perplexed Cat tries to get a hold of herself again, but the silhouette leaves no openings unused.

Within no seconds the dark silhouette, now recognized as a smaller grown old man with a long whitened beard and a black coat, has closed the distance between Cat and him.
He now stands right behind, the still a bit perplex Cat, as he gathers a dark mass around his right hand.
“Game over missy!” He shouts and releases an all swallowing black beam towards Cat.
As the beam has subsided, a gaping hole has estimated where Cat was standing and also behind that spot, a gaping hole was hit into the defense wall. Like the beam has swallowed everything in its darkness, not a single trace of masonry nor Cat is left.
“What a shame to kill such a beauty... ahh man, but what can I do, if she dares to interfere with us here, she needs to be punished wouldn´t you agree... King?” The small old man asks into the night
“...” No response
A very tall, but also very thin man occurs in the weak moonlight, right out of the shadows from the old tower.
He has a very calm facial expression and looks a bit too slender. He is covered in dark black and torn lumps and at his right wrist he wears the remains of an iron handcuff
If one were to see his face a bit closer, one would see that the thin man has some kind of handsome young face, with a small goatee. But deep within his eyes a surging dark abyss of killing intent whirls, ready to stream out and devour everything in sight.
The thin man is indeed called King.
The two man slowly disappear into the night towards the demon lands.
Only after a whole night and day, a small and black silhouette appears underneath a bunch of soldier corpses. It is Cat, Cat hasn't dared to step out even a minute earlier.
The her back when fighting the old man, has very fast grasped the situation she was in.
She clearly has underestimated her opponent. As the old man gathered the dark mass, Cat clearly understood one thing, this attack is not normal magic and within this thought every inch of Cat´s body screamed “Hide, HIDE! You cannot withstand that.
Only due to Cats vast understanding of battle experience, she was able to use her secret shadow fuse technique and managed to hide under the bunch of corpses.
Now as she stepped into the bright daylight, everything seems so surreal for her.
“That was terrifying, I really thought I am going to die there. But did this old bastard called someone King?.” Cat inwardly thought
But due to her hiding under the corpses she couldn't see any other person, the even weirder thing is that she even couldn't recognize any other aura than hers and the old bastards one.
After a bit of organizing her own thoughts, she decided to continue her journey.
Cat has just vowed to herself to keep all her instincts alarmed in order to be aware of the old man.
So she would be ready if he approaches her again.

At a fair distance somewhere in a mountain range within the Finsterfir continent.
An earth and heavens shaking rumble appears within a big mountain range in the Finsterfir continent. With a bursting, cracking and ear piercing sound, one of the tall and broad mountains
has been torn open and a great chasm like lava pond estimates inside.
Right inside this lava pond an old and familiar sight makes its appearance.
The dwarfen city Uvrandir appears inside the pond and the mountain starts to refill the unused spaces with stone and earth. A big bridge of astonishing, marble like material creates itself and leads upwards a nicely crafted giant stone gate.
The city Uvrandir has arrived at its destination in the Finsterfir mountain range.
Within the city everyone was in uproar. The commoner dwarfs shout in excitement and the whole atmosphere released a white foam, as if someone has taken a large burden from someones heart.
Everyone started to manage their arrival at their knew home and started with the preparations for a big celebration. At least not only their heroes are to celebrate, now they even don't have to fear being found by enemies anymore.
Within all this tumult a few figures were standing besides and chattering in pure amusement.
“So, so this ability of yours is really a huge surprise. I must admit I am astonished Kazador.
This is a great opportunity for the race of dwarfs to restart a new life.” Sieg muttered in joy as he looked around and become even more astonished
Kazador, wipes of some of his sweat and with a “poof” sound he lets himself fall to the ground and sat.
“Hahaha, we´ve planned on the movement of the city for a long time already. And seeing the latest occurrences it really couldn't be delayed any further. A good thing Mia has prepared the missing runes, so I could just initiate the cast.” Kazador, finally a bit more relaxed, laughs in joy
Within his laugh Kazador and the rest of them recognize, how an astonishing beauty jumps in the air and with a beautiful leap, directly lands within their group.
“Kali, you´ve done the dwarfen race a huge favor. If there is anything we can give you in return just say so.” A familiar voice appeared behind the beauty Kali, who just leaped in front of them.
The Innkeeper made her appearance.
“No need to be so polite miss Helena, I really only did what I saw fit to do.” Kali replied in a polite and very friendly tone
“But you just resurrected over half a hundred dwarfs, which were complete strangers to you before, how could I even consider to let this slip just as it is?” The Innkeeper miss Helena was at a loss with her words towards Kali and near the tears.
“Then just count me as friend of the dwarfs.” Kali lightly smiling replied and reached out her hand as a symbol of creating a new friendship
“You...” Miss Helena was at a total loss of her emotions, she gradually took the hand of Kali and
sobbed a bit
“He he, this is the way.” Suddenly Mia joyfully yelled into the round of people and jumped down from Hohenheim´s shoulder
“With this the dwarfs should be safe for quiet a while, and for what to do now, I think we all can rest for a while, before considering our next steps. Let us meet again in a week at the Inn. Then we can discuss everything else. Therefore lets enjoy the week of free time.” Hephaestus implied with a joyful face and laughed
“That sounds too nice, its just what we need after this serious stuff happening all around. And I really wanted a chance to look around the Finsterfir continent a bit more.” Hohenheim replied also with a bit of sorrow releasing face
“Then its decided, lets enjoy this week to our hearts content and eventually meet again in a week.” Sieg impatiently yelled, ready to set of towards the moved city.
Everyone looked at each other with a meaningful face and then slightly nodded with bride smiles.
“Mia you follow me alright?” Hohenheim asked towards Mia with a bit of a complicated expression
“Sure, I have never planned on leaving you in the first place. But say is there a special reason to be so serious?” Mia couldn't help feeling a bit nervous, its the first time she has seen Hohenheim so complicated towards her and it implied a bit of loss fear in her heart
“Mhh we will see about that, at first I just want to set off for a moment with you.” Hohenheim replied with a meaningful and thoughtful face
After that Mia slightly nodded, with a bit of complicated emotions rising in her chest.
The two of them set off and bid their short farewell towards their new made friends, Sieg was a bit of sad that Hohenheim didn't even want to attend at the banquet, but couldn't be helped as Mia and Hohenheim stubbornly insisted on their leave.
Walking towards the giant stone gate at the top of the lava pond, Hohenheim and Mia turned around and memorized that astonishing view of the bright lit city with all the marble buildings and iron sculptures. All this sight was even perfectly underlain by the dazzling and shivering light emitting from the lava. It created an astonishing and amazing impression on the two of them.
