《The Seeker's Quest》Chapter 56

Her wrathful scream could be heard for miles if she wasn’t stuck underground in a nightmare of this worlds making.
Shae had found her way up a floor. Things were looking up for the young lady. The monsters that inhabited this floor were a small race of lizard men. They looked like overgrown geckos. With large bulbous fingertips and toes, large round eyes atop their heads. Like that insurance company’s mascot but up right and with a mouth of tiny razor-sharp teeth. Like the goblins, they were not much to call home about for combat strength. They were better strategists and worked a lot better together while fighting. For the first three rooms Shae was cruising. Nothing could stop her; she was on a solid roll. She was able to control her magic a lot better now. She was able to grasp and throw monsters around, albeit one at a time. She was getting the hang of using her force magic as a grasping combat tool. Even going to far as to crush bones with a bit of effort.
She had just finished fighting her last group, these rooms smelled kind of like fish which was better than the floors below.
Then she saw the spear embedded in the ground…
Pinning Felix’s weakly struggling body. Then he stopped. Head doing a little flop like a fish as he gave his last breath.
Shae’s mind exploded with fear, sorrow, denial, and finally pure rage.
Her power exploded out of her like a small atom bomb going off. The room instantly swept clean by the exploding force. All that was left were red smears on the walls. Nothing even left of Felix anymore. She did that…
Outside of the dungeon, the group keeping watch felt a small quake, all the loose stones around jumping slightly in the air. Mihk Asher went pale, he stormed toward the dungeon pushing against it with all the magic her could muster. Poor Nith and more than a few others were pushed aside by the man’s unleashed power against the doorway. Only for them all to be blasted back by a backlash. Mihk taking the full brunt of his own attack. The poor master mage was thrown ten meters back, his body a bloody torn mess. It took Nith and the healers a short, shocked moment to get moving to help the man. The air around the whole group became like a vacuum, being sucked down through the earth into the abyss below. Mel went pale, a premonition striking her unconscious. Kip barley had time to grab his sister.

“What the fuck is going on around here!!” Kip Shrieked
In the dungeon below Shae became enraged at herself for being so arrogant, so lazy, and unthoughtful. She was enraged at coming here, at being forced into all this. And most of all, by the snide looking face of that god standing in the back of the gathering. His face popped into her mind at that exact moment. Then she lost herself in her rage. She became a dervish of destruction. Without desire, and with little thought, Shae began to tear through the dungeon. Her power flowing through her unbidden, unchecked. She had would kill that fucker. That was all she thought. Her eyes not really seeing, her mind whirling with desire to tear off a god’s head.
With power flowing through her, Shae was unstoppable on this floor. Anything that was unlucky enough to cross her path was blasted into a red stain on the wall, or even in a few fits of crying unstable rage toward her grief, some were left twisted and torn apart. Unrecognizable from their original forms. There was no Shae anymore. Just wrath and hatred. She would find him and tear that god apart, piece by small piece. In her blind rage, that was how she was starting to leave bodies behind her. Torn into pieces. No longer just uncontrolled power crushing them into paste. A part of her mind was practicing her revenge. She was no longer sane. Between her unleashed and unfocused power her mind had mostly shut down. Saliva ran down her chin, sweat poured from her pores. Her hair waving like a banshee’s.
A hole was blown into a wall, and a group of monsters fled into it. Shae in her unconscious state followed them. Picking them off one by one. Seeing a certain gods face on each of them, then practicing her revenge again, and again.
When the last of the creatures were killed Shae found herself in a new tunnel system. There were many more things here to take out her rage on.
Felix had grown on her. He was her beacon in the dark. He stood for the good in the bad. The silver lining. Now she hated. Hated herself hated the world, hated that god.

The new larger creatures were just as easy to ply her vengeance against the world, against that god who sent her here. Who tore this hole in her chest.
Slower moving these monsters were easy targets, but there were many of them. They would come in packs. Shae was now tearing them apart by the dozen, or even crushing them all together leaving large balls of mush behind.
Then he came at her. A huge monster of a thing. It was slavering and screeching at her as it charged. Shae grabbed it and tried to twist it apart. It fought against her power. It was strong. Slowly pushing through toward Shae. Teeth gnashing claws reaching. She could smell the things foul breath. A part of her was waking.
She was in a large room now. There was a chair that this monster had thrown itself off of at her. She could see further away, in a tunnel past this beast, a person in robes and rotting flesh floating. It was trying to aid this beast in getting to her, she could feel its power fighting against her’s.
Shae threw her head back and laughed a manic twisted laugh. Then lowered her head until she was looking at the being through just the tops of her eyes. Then Shae thew her hands out sideways with a sudden surge, as if she was tearing apart a large rubber band.
The beast in front of her that was straining and struggling. Almost to her. Blew apart in a spray of grey gore.
The withered creature stumbled back grabbing at its head. Then the withered thing turned and fled into the tunnel. Shae tried to give chase. Wanting to end this thing that dared to challenge her. But she was unable to keep up as throngs of what she could now see were rotting corpses charging her. Bogging her down in sheer numbers. Still, she gave into the fury again. New power boring its way through her, fueling her hatred for all that would see her hurt. She pushed through gaining speed. Undead corpses being crushed and torn apart at her will. Then she came to the end. There was a barricade set up, wanting to keep her out. Staring at her now were living breathing things. She knew they were orcs. She knew she should kill them; they were evil. But she had the desire to finish her hunt. She wanted to see that being’s fear as she slowly broke it apart.
Shae turned and started to move back toward were the undead were. To resume her hunt. Then a small voice called out stopping her.
“Thank you, mighty Kesh.”
Shae turned to see a lazy eyed overly round orc bowing to her. The others fallen to their knees; foreheads planted into the ground.
Shae turned her head back and started to move once again.
“Please oh might Kesh. I can lead you to the one you seek. I know where he hides.”
Shae turned again to face the orc. Then with a wicked grin she reached out and grabbed the orc, easily pulling it’s massive frame to her side. “Show me!” Her voice throaty and slow
Then with a small shove, which threw the rotund orc forward, it barely being able to keep its balance stutter stepping and swinging its arms pinwheel.
“Yes mighty Kesh! I shall” The orc never looked back. He began to move forward on its large legs. Fat arms swinging, helping it move forward with effort it had never shown before.
Both the fat orc and Shae bore smiles. One of adoration, the other of hate and desire to see the world burn.

Contact Through Voided Lenses
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Edit: Fixed some inaccuracies in the synopsis. The void is a vast unexplored ocean filled with various wonders and dangers all waiting to be explored by those brave enough to travel and record. Many souls do find themselves brave enough to face the vast distances, the various risks to personal safety and do the hundreds of task required on a craft. However, at times the void itself can be boring with absolutely nothing to do but as time pass and more and better technology is reached, things got better. The various trips got faster, communications became faster than light and you can be home to see your loved ones after only months now. Through the various planets whether rocky or gaseous, the various stars whether small or giant, the various systems both eerily similar or completely alien. As part of an expeditionary scientific exploratory survey craft, one could see that the void offers no reprieve from all the discoveries and wonders. At times, it can feel empty and silent where no soul can hear you scream and at others it can be overwhelming with sudden phenomenon that can overwhelm the brightest of minds. The void itself is a truly fascinating ocean where one must chart the various islands or drown in its deadly tidal waves. But the question still remained no matter how you try to hide it in of itself… is there truly other intelligent life out there? Are we alone in this ocean? Those very questions still haunt the minds of those on the crafts themselves as they brace for every jump ready for the unknown and the known. Many would try to explain that yes there is other intelligent life out there whilst other still say no after 2 centuries of continuous flight out of the home system. Still, those are questions that bury deep in the minds of the crew and those at home as the voidcraft jumps to a system with a single yellow star orbited by 8 other planets with one crowning blue jewel being the 3rd closest with its 5 oceans and 7 continents, a planet called Dirt which is inhabited by a primitive species called Humanity. Hello, author here and this is my newest dive into writing particularly for the Writathon currently in progress being my first one. I hope you give me story a try but in case you still want more information on what you’re getting into, below are some pointers about the story itself. First Contact: CTVL is a story about a first contact scenario between an advanced alien civilization and a slightly more advanced modern day humanity on their planet called Dirt. Characters: The story will take place mainly on the perspective of the alien visitors themselves though there will be human POV characters who will show how the rest of humanity react through media and forums. Action: It won’t be an actual alien invasion but you have to see for yourself how well first contact went. Sci-Fi: I will be very forward here, I WILL bend the rules of physics in order to add in parts of the plot and there WILL be parts that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Theme: It will be a brooding story talking about the futility of pe… Just kidding, it’s mostly wholesome stuff to be honest here. Alien: The aliens themselves will… actually why should I tell you, you have to go and read it to find out what the aliens are though I will draw a few things here and there to aid in the process. Extra tidbit: If you are a grammar nazi or someone who really wants a realistic scifi story... this story is probably not for you at all. Anyways, that’s pretty much all I can say before I spoil something major of the plot itself, the story is slice of life so make sure that type of story is what you like because I am terrible with anything else as I found out, anyways, have a good time everyone and good luck to the other Writathon participants.
