《The Seeker's Quest》Chapter 32

That evening saw Shae and the four adventuring companions sipping tea at a table big enough for eight, and it was loaded with every kind of dessert the shop had to offer. Mel had waved off her brother’s meager protests stating they had a special event to celebrate. There were sixteen different desserts from small cakes, and pies, to braided sugar bread with fruit filling. There was way too much for the five to even make a real dent into. At most they were able to have a bite of each before their stomachs ached from the pressure of eating too much. On top of the desserts, they were boisterously partying over, they had finished a three-course meal that consisted of a large salad with some greens Shae could kind of recognize, to others that were just, weird. Like the green round radish looking things that tasted sort of like cucumbers soaked in vinegar. That was followed by wild mushroom soup in a bowl the size of your head. Finally finished off with what must have been a fourteen-ounce steak that wash dripping with juices and just the right amount of texture to slightly chew. The juices mixed into the potatoes that were mashed and whipped with cream and butter. It was almost too much for poor Shae. She had to eat more calories than the average girl her age due to her physical activities, but this was going way too far!

“Ugh! You’re going to have to roll me back to the inn.” Shae pretended to complain while nibbling on the corner of a sugar cookie. Her stomach had a definite roundness to it right now. She was totally goldfish eating right now.

“You know,” Kip said to Mel watching Shae force feed herself even more cookie. “You might actually kill her from over feeding her.”

Mel snorted. “That’s not a thing.”

Nick muffled out through a piece of pie in his mouth. “Is too.”

Then Mel slapped Nick’s shoulder and chided him for speaking with his mouth full. Which he promptly stuck his tongue out loaded with a blue gooey filling mixed with bits of crust.

“Ewww!” Mel slapped him again.

Which caused Shae to burst out laughing, literally as cookie crumbs shot out.

That caused everyone to start to laugh. Mic shook his head at their antics while avoiding the desserts that had alcohol in them.

Little did Shae know; tomorrow morning was going to come too bright and way too early. She did not know a few of the fillings were eighty proof and tasted like the best damn fruit she’d even had. Nick on the other hand, dug right in whole heartedly.

‘It’s a good thing Kip had rented them a carriage to take them back to the inn.’ Mic thought. He would have dreaded the return trip otherwise. Still, he was over happy to see his brother being, well, not his brother. Even if he was still getting drunk tonight. But it was a celebration, so he could not begrudge him.

After an hour of boisterous fun, Shae finally realized she was well beyond sober. It had suddenly hit her like the troll when it threw her into the tree.

“Wahhgg.” Shae grunted out in a very non feminine way. “I suddenly feel, the room is wobblying all over the place! Is wobblying a word even?” Shae snorted, her face scrunching up. “What did your four give me?”

Nick laughed swaying in his own chair. “Yoush did that all yerself stuffin all that booze laden treats into yerself.” Then he sort of lifted his arm and pointed at Shae then giggled like a girl.

Shae’s face took on a sort of melted shocked look. Her face was too hot and the muscles way to lazy to move the right way. “Yous didn’t tell me there was booze in this.” She started to slur out a bit. “I’m not old enough to drink yet.” She added swaying a bit.

Mel was laughing lightly at Shae’s expense, Shae was sure. Kip just relaxed into his chair and watched the fun. Much like Mic he had avoided most of the “special” dessert items. He had in fact made arrangements for them to be extra special. He was going to make sure his sister got her money’s worth.

Mel was far past her limit as well. She was far to giggly and could barely speak anymore.

“You know. I have not had this much fun since my parents took me to Disneyland when I was seven.” Shae put out there.

““Huh”” Mic and Kipp said together looking at Shae.

“Oh right! You don’t have that here.” She answered. Then she fell off her chair and plopped onto her butt. Immediately following she laid on her side and laughed until her stomach hurt.

Kip and Mic looked at each other. Then after a few seconds they shrugged at each other. Then Kip got up to help Shae back into her chair. She waved him off saying it was much safer on the floor. Then Shae very promptly passed out.

Looks like the night of fun was over. Shortly after they loaded Shae and Mel into the carriage like luggage. Both women had passed out and Nick was not too far behind. Kip kept lightly slapping his face every time he started to nod off. Neither He nor Mic wanted to carry the brother into the inn. It was bad enough they had to haul two sleeping women up the stairs.

Later that night Kip was just about to fall asleep himself. Mentally patting his own back. ‘But what the heck is Disneyland.’ He’d ask her tomorrow.
