《Journey of Detachment》The Art of the Boiling Seas
Advertisement
After picking up the thick gold-covered book and storing it in his spatial ring that his father gifted him, Wang Wei and Elder Shin quickly departed the Dao Scripture Pagoda and flew back to the palace where Wang Wei started on the tasks of comprehending this martial arts technique.
On the cover of the book were the words "The Art of Boiling Seas" carved in gold and from the book you could feel incredible heat radiating. If Wang Wei hadn't reached the Blood-Exchange realm he would have been burned for merely touching the book, but even in the Blood-Exchange realm it was still quite uncomfortable to hold it.
But that wasn't the most incredible phenomenon, because just by being near this book he could feel his blood begin to boil.
#What a domineering martial arts technique!# Wang Wei thought and started reading the introduction.
Apparently, the way you cultivate this technique is by constantly increasing the temperature of your blood until the blood boils, and by constantly boiling your blood it would further temper your physique by destruction and rebirth of the flesh, and by doing so it would make his body adapt to that temperature and be able to consciously control his bodies heat.
So that after practicing this technique and tempering your body your strength would be stronger than someone in the same realm, and you would then be able to practice the martial arts move that is described.
The move described in the book is performed by increasing your body temperature to the limit until even water boils in contact with it and punching out, and by doing so sending out a heatwave strong enough to scorch the earth.
When Wang Wei read that he was astounded that such an ability is even possible with physical cultivation and immediately started comprehending it.
------------------
Time Skip 3 years.
Within the forest outside the Wang Family palace
There is a boy who looks like he is sixteen years old practicing martial arts moves, the air around his body is distorted as if the boys body is a fire burning the surroundings, every time he moves his hands to punch, the tree in the direction of his fist catches on fire and is burned down all in a matter of seconds.
And with each punch, the surrounding heat grew until his entire body caught on fire and his eyes glowed crimson as if the God of the Sun was standing there his very presence demanding worship.
This boy is of course Wang Wei, in the past three years he has comprehended and successfully practiced the martial arts technique to completion, but in order to do so, he completely isolated himself from the world, except occasionally when he went to meet with his parents who helped him practice the technique.
And don't underestimate the guidance of an Immortal because even if they have never practiced that particular technique, their whole being is close to the Great Dao and every word that comes from them can cause an epiphany of a cultivator in a lower realm.

And now after practicing the technique to completion he is confident in even being able to fight a peak Qi-Condensation realm cultivators and win.
Now that he feels ready to go to the Inheritance realm, what is left to do now is to go out and experience the world, because the only thing that he's currently lacking is some real combat experience.
When he asked his father for permission to set out on his own to gain experience, his father wholeheartedly agreed and gave him a talisman that he personally created, the talisman could even delay Immortals and would immediately contact his father.
And that was more than enough to protect him in this world because, as he found out recently the only Immortal currently in this world is his father, that information completely set him at ease.
So today was the last day of his training and the day he set out from the palace to begin to explore the world. He quickly left the forest and arrived at the demonic beast enclosure of the Wang palace, all of the Wang family members that have not cultivated to the Golden-Core realm and couldn't fly would come here to get a flying demonic beast if they want to leave the palace.
Wang Wei picked up an ordinary White Crane at the Qi-Condensation realm in order to not draw too much attention to himself, flew up, and left the palace quickly.
----------------------------------
His first destination was the Xieye City which housed the biggest gladiatorial arena on the Zhong continent. The Celestial Wang Dynasty realm is made up of 4 giant continents, each is twice the size of the Earths land area, the names of the continents are Shenman, Zhong, Di, and Qiu.
Shenman is the continent that has the biggest concentration of Qi and is naturally the one that contains the palace of the Wang family.
The Zhong, Di, and Qiu continents are the home of a lot of mortal kingdoms and sects but all of them are really weak and the strongest on those continents would only be in the Nascent-Soul realm and even the Nascent-Soul realm cultivation is very rare and would be revered as an ancestor of some sects and kingdoms.
The trip lasted months because to reach the Zhong continent is a very daunting task and by the time he reached Xieye City he was already about to turn 7 years old, but that time definitely wasn't wasted.
Because while he was traveling through the seas between the continents he was being constantly attacked by sea monsters, some were in the Qi-Gathering realm, while most of them were in Qi-Condensation and very rarely the Golden-Core realm. The Golden-Core realm still wasn't something he could contend with but with the help of the thousands of talismans, his father has gifted him they were barely a nuisance.
And every time he had to fight for his life, his battle experience was growing, and by the time he reached the Zhong continent, he could already survive an encounter with a Golden-Core stage beast and escape with just some minor injuries.

At the Xieye City Gate
Wang Wei waded through the crowds trying to enter the city, this was in fact a strange occurrence because usually cultivators had a priority when entering every city and would be personally greeted by the guards, but because Wang Wei wanted to experience the city as a mortal, he hid his aura and physical cultivation and started standing in line.
The line was exceptionally long and even many mortals died from exhaustion trying to get in, and that was mostly because to be in a city was considered a privilege.
Many mortals that lived outside of such cities lived truly horrific lives under the threat of death because of the many demonic beasts inhabiting the continent.
Some people would even resort to cannibalism to survive the long wait times and murder to advance in line was common, thankfully Wang Wei didn't have to resort to cannibalism to survive because of his tempered organs, he could even survive without food and water for months.
His organs were raised to perfection and all food he ate, water he drank, and air he breathed were processed and stored in his blood for later use, he could even hold his breath underwater for days on end.
Wang Wei was at his core truly a compassion-filled person and he did all he could do to help, he even secretly snuck out of line and went out into the forest to hunt for demonic beasts in order to help feed them.
When he saw the savagery that humans were capable of under the threat of death, Wang Wei's world views were expanded and he truly understood human nature and the law of the jungle that this world operated on, and his resolve to become even stronger was unwavering.
After months of waiting and contemplating this society and human nature, he finally arrived at the city gates where the guards were inspecting something in the hands of all the people who wanted to enter.
In order to enter the city you needed to present one spirit stone, a spirit stone is a phenomenon in heaven and earth that occurs when there is a big concentration of Qi in an area that Qi will naturally contaminate the area around it and when there is a big enough concentration, there will appear a spirit mine that is full of spirit stones. Spirit stones are very useful for cultivating because of the pure Qi that is found within them and they are usually used as currency amongst cultivators.
But in order for a mortal to acquire one, it would almost take a lifetime to collect, but even with those stringent conditions, there were so many mortals waiting in line.
But Wang Wei had no such problem in taking out spirit stones, the Wang family had so many of them they could practically eat them like candy.
After entering the city he was stunned by the pure disparity in wealth, inside the city streets were full of lavishly dressed men and women, they looked like nobility from Ancient China and there were even some cultivators among them. Even that could tell you the difference in status between people inside the city and the people outside.
The city itself is huge and it was divided into two parts the Inner and Outer districts, all of the cultivators and cultivation families lived in the Inner district while the normal mortals usually lived in the Outer districts.
But in the middle of the Inner district, there was a gigantic colosseum that was visible even from the Outer District, it was the pride and joy of the Xieye City and it is what made it famous all around the Zhong continent and even what made the Wang family be aware of it.
That colosseum is where the strongest of the Zhong continent would come to compete for incredible prizes and the fame that came by winning the tournament and sometimes even Golden-Core cultivators would come to compete.
Wang Wei made his way down into the Inner district and when he was at the gates of the Inner district the only thing he needed to do in order to enter was either present an identity token or test his cultivation level.
He easily passed the test and entered, but when he exposed his cultivation base of physical cultivation, he didn't receive any respect at all on the contrary he received hushed whispers and contemptuous looks.
Physical cultivators had the reputation of having no future and taking an extremely long time to cultivate, but even if that was true they still didn't dare say anything to his face because his physical cultivation is at the known peak.
He paid them no mind and continued on his way to the colosseum in order to register for the upcoming tournament.
Wang Wei entered the registration office and was immediately greeted by a stunning girl that looked about 20 years old. As soon as she saw him she said "Shan Mei greets respected cultivator!" while bowing deeply.
"I am here to register for the next available tournament" Wang Wei quickly replied, "The next tournament is being held in half a month and the entrance fee is 50 spirit stones." the pretty girl replied
Wang Wei quickly paid the entrance fee and immediately left the registration office and headed towards another location in the city called the League of Silence, they are the spy organization that is located across all the cities and all the continents.
They can find out any information asked of them for the right price, the one in charge of the organization is a Deification level expert and he is the only reason why the Wang family tolerates their existence.
He entered the headquarters and immediately asked to buy the information of all the cultivators that will be competing in the tournament and within minutes he has already received a book with all the needed information.
He left the building and started looking for an Inn to stay in until the tournament begins.

My second life in a fantasy world
Important Announcement: English is not my first language, sorry for the mistakes After living a long life on earth, it was finally time to leave, bedridden in a hospital, surrounded by a large family, between sobs and sad goodbye glances, bearing many memories, some good, some bad, funny moments, sad moments, happy moments, tragic moments, I finally closed my eyes and plunged into the abyss of darkness and what awaited me on the other side was ... An old ex-mercenary hungry for adventure is reincarnated in a world of swords and magic, with no trap powers, just his own strength, wits, and outlandish friends. P.S. I am a totally amateur writer, I write just for fun, I am working on illustrations with another person, I plan to put one on the cover of each chapter reflecting its content. At the moment I already have partially assembled the story, I just need to polish a little, the rhythm in which the chapters appear may vary. The original version in Spanish can be found here for the curious https://www.wattpad.com/myworks/250682744-mi-segunda-vida-en-un-mundo-de-fantas%C3%ADa

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
