《Dimensional Market System》(IV)

"Rex, are you going to go to Mia's birthday party tomorrow?"
He shook his head and looked at his childhood friend, "Seriously David why do you ask me if you already know the answer. You know that I have to babysit my little brother because my mom is going to be working."
His friend sighed and jumped onto the bed, "I really thought you were going to go since I heard that you helped their family get that quinceanera thing ready. You have to get a life man, you've been crushing on her since I've known you but you have always been to chicken to tell her how you feel. What's worse is that you are always nice and helping everyone so she has no way to tell that you like her."
Rex shook his head and looked at his homework, "My mother has been raising me and my little brother alone after that bastard left us. Helping her by babysitting my little brother is the least I could do. When I become an adult I will finish my school and get lots of money so that I can help her, then I can start doing whatever I want."
David stood up and smacked Rex's head, "I hate it when you get so damn mature, it makes me feel like I'm a little kid. Anyway, why not just bring your little brother?"
"After what happened last time? Nah thanks I prefer staying here."
David shrugged and opened the bedroom's door, "Listen Rex, I really respect you for taking care of your family but don't be using them as an excuse. I might not be smart but I'm not stupid enough not to notice the truth. Though it's true that you have it though taking care of your family, studying, and staying out of trouble, that doesn't mean you can't do anything fun. Make sure that you do whatever it is you want to do, for example, asking out a certain girl haha. Otherwise, you might miss your chance."
David closed the door and suddenly the room burst into flames.
Oreth quickly sat up gasping for air, he found himself back in his new room. "Out of everyone I could have dreamed about, why did it have to be that bastard?"

He got out of bed and looked at the magic-core-shaped clock. It was made out of a monster core that had all the magic inside of it sucked out. The enslaved dwarves added runes that synchronized the brightness of a glow that it created to the sun.
"Based on the brightness it looks like it's around 5 in the morning give or take 10 minutes."
Oreth took a quick snack, a shower, and got changed into his school uniform. When he walked down to his father's blacksmithing workshop he sighed and went to the room next to it. That room was the actual shop where his father sold his weapons. Oreth found the layout of his home very odd, you would first enter into the blacksmithing workshop where you would then be guided to the small room that functioned as a makeshift shop. Then again the building was built during the warring ages and demons didn't really care about the functionality of their structures as much. The only reason that they could live a comfortable life now was because of the races that they enslaved. Demons were a warring race, after all, they might seem like humans but their way of thinking was very different back then.
His father made most of his money by repairing old weapons or taking custom requests than by selling his own creations. Oreth had always dreamed of being a blacksmith like his father but he was born with the lighting attribute which wasn't compatible with forging,
He looked around and after scanning all the swords he didn't find anything he liked, "Well let's try something new, the sword never really worked anyway.... This one doesn't look bad, it's also pretty long which means that I can keep my distance from beasts."
Oreth grabbed a 7ft long spear that had a pitch-black shaft and a blood-red spearhead on both sides. He ran his hand through it and found a rune inscribed on the shaft that allowed you to pour your mana into it. This forging method was really common in the demons world, if anything it was an okay spear. It couldn't be compared to the weapons that the dwarves were able to craft that's for sure.

'Sorry father but I'm going to have to borrow this, I need to find out if hunting is what I need to do to get Market Coins and I can't do that without a weapon.'
He left his home and began making his way to the demon school. The old Oreth had no money since he gave all his money to his parents, so now all he was able to do was just look at the peculiar food being sold on the streets on his way to the school.
After walking for about 20 minutes he finally reached the school. Using his memories he found his class and entered it.
"My, looks like it really is true you're alive. Thanks to you, me and the others had a hard time taking down that fucking Tiger. Is there something you want to say?"
The blond-haired demon had been waiting for him, one of his lackeys must have seen him and informed Turgas.
Turgas was far from being the strongest in the class but he had a decent size mana pool. That along with his talented brother entering the Academy allowed him to have some special privileges among the demons with low social status. Oreth wanted to give Turgas a piece of his mind but now was not the time. Turgas had his group of lackeys that followed him around, they most likely wanted to use him to get closer to his brother. Even if there was the risk that his brother didn't graduate and become a soldier he could still teach some techniques to Turgas and they would learn from him.
Even without considering Turgas's lackeys he most likely couldn't defeat the blonde demon. Oreth had the lightning attribute and Turgas's attribute was earth. Meaning that he not only had to worry about the difference in physical strength and mana pool size, he also had to worry about the bad match-up and the techniques he might have learned from his brother.
'This bastard really gets in my nerves, how the hell did the old Oreth stand this guy. Well, I don't want to get in any trouble at least not at the moment, he and his little group might also prove useful. Even if they use me as bait that doesn't mean that I can't use them, if we come across a beast I'll just sacrifice one of them by using my Lightning Strike attack.'
"I'm sorry that I made hunting the Spear-Tailed Tiger harder." Now that Oreth had his memories from earth he couldn't help but clenching his fists. His long sharp nails dug into his skin and spilled blood.
Turgas smiled and then looked at Oreth's spear, "Well since you already have another weapon, Rirthrodon will keep your sword as payment for your mistake. What do you say?"
The blonde demon pointed at one of his followers who had his blue sword. Compared to the spear that had runes inscribed to it the sword didn't matter much to him, if anything he was relieved. He thought that the demon was going to try to take his spear as well.
Oreth quickly nodded, "That sounds fair." He then began walking away trying to get away before the demon came up with anything else.
"You pile of shit, who are you to dare turn your back to me!!!"
Oreth barely had time to turn around before a fist that was covered in stone hit him in the face and sent him flying into the class.
He slowly got up and looked at Turgas in anger, he had tried to stay out of trouble and even damaged his newly found pride yet it was all for nothing?
When he looked at the face of the blonde demon he was surprised to find the demon frightened, now that he looked closely everyone in class had the same look and they were looking at him…..no not at him but at something behind him.
Oreth turned around and he saw what happened, he said something before even thinking, "Oh shit, sorry about that bro..."
The moment he finished speaking he knew that he had fucked up.

Old rivalries clash with new necessities as the fabric of reality strains once more. ___________________________________________ This is my first shot at posting something I've written and a story set in a literary universe that I really want to take places, one of several that's been rattling around in my brain for a few years now. Constructive criticism always welcome, unconstructive criticism welcome with the caveat that I very well might ignore it. Written for Nanowrimo, because why not.
