Chapter 105

Arc 13- Public Enemy No.1 - Part 8

In the beginning, God made angels.

The angels became concepts and the concepts became angels.

Naturally, among them, there was an Angel of Love. To make her powers work, she needed to feel strong love towards someone.

So, she chose to fall in love with the most beautiful and strongest of the angels. Lucifer.

However, she was too weak to be noticed by someone such as the great Lucifer.

What does this arrogant angel do? The last thing she should have done.

Between Heaven and Hell, there existed a pact. A pact which allowed these two different forms of beings to battle each other for entertainment.

But there was something else to this pact.

The loser’s power will no longer be theirs.

The winner takes it all.

When the arrogant angel tried to become more powerful, she battled a demon -- Zerathos.

However, since the right procedures were not used, Heaven and Hell banished them both to Earth and took away their powers, leaving them powerless.

On Earth, the two went their separate ways.

The demon manipulated the world until it was his.

The angel, however, travelled the world. She explored, learned and changed.

The arrogant angel was transformed into a kind and loving angel. It took her thousands of years but she finally changed.

When the prophets and saints appeared, the world started to change in the name of the Supreme One -- God.

In the shadows of almighty’s name, a demon left his marks on this beautiful blue planet.

Setting aside her travels, she too took an active role in this new society.

To fight the demon and stop him, she had to take on many roles - a magician, a priest, a knight, a librarian, and more.

In the shadows of the almighty and the devil, she moved and created her own counterforce.

Failure and failure and failure is what she faced many times over.

One day, she will create an army of her own and battle on equal grounds against the devil.

Calculations of hers, however, were wrong. The demon’s armies had grown. He had become a prominent force in the world.

Time had ran out for her.

When all roads were blocked, she had no choice but to use her status as an angel. Showing her face to select few, she had loyal followers throughout history.

Armies had gathered. They had power now -- magic. She only had to find the right time to attack.

However, centuries passed without an opportunity.

No, she did get a few opportunities but did not take it because the losses would have been too high.

In the late 20th century, she decided to take a different approach.

As the demon ruled behind the shadows, he wanted to create a new breed of specifies to him become more powerful -- superhumans.

Under a disguise, this angel worked as a scientist in one of the facilities.

There, she met an interesting person, a half-demon and half-angel -- Alice Brown. But this angel would keep that a secret from her. Alice would learn her true nature many years later.

Alice worked with this angel to take down her father - William Brown -- the demon, Zerathos.

On a fateful day, a human -- Nazar was born.

Feeling the infinite power from the child, the angel decided, she will use him - even if it means throwing aside her very own ideals.

Watching the child being tortured by his own parents, she decided she will win over this boy differently.

She tried to be nice to him -- to become close to him, but he “killed” her.

So, she changed her plans. Have someone else win over him.

Alice Brown -- she became close to this human.

Alice gave Nazar what he needed the most -- a loving mother.

He found that in Alice.

From the shadows, the angel planned and planned.

She found a way to make Nazar forget and sealed away that infinite power.

One day, the human was free from the clutches of the demon.

“Alice… No!”

Alice Brown “died”!

From the shadows, she watched Nazar grow up. She provided him with anything he needed - without him noticing, of course.

One day, the human regained his powers.

With his help, the angel killed the demon -- and saved the world.

The demon was gone.

The angel was powerful once more.

And Nazar… He was free once and for all.

But that story has already passed.

That timeline ended when the menace known as the Nameless One tried to destroy time, starting at the end of everything.

Being above the concept that is time and space, certain beings were unaffected by the destruction of time. Their physical form might have been destroyed, but their real form -- their essence -- was unaffected.

On 22nd May 2000, Nazar opened his eyes in his own newborn body.

After defeating the Nameless One, he killed the demon.

Aarin’s power was returned to her alongside her memories.

In this new timeline, she spent most of her time helping Nazar search for the Dragon.

Now, floating above the organisation made by the demon, she clicked her tongue.

“Damn it!”

Feelings of failure spiralled up within her once more.

But she did not have time for that.

Sensing Nazar’s emotions go out for a split second, her body stiffened.

But she soon lost those worried feelings.

Someone had appeared behind her for a split second. They did something but she did not feel anything different.

Shooting out her wings, a golden halo appeared above her head.

“No… I can’t let him see it yet.”

The halo changed colour to white.

Using everything she has -- in this form -- she searched for the person who appeared behind her.

However, she found nothing.

As the halo slowly started to vanish, Nazar appeared next to her.

“Aarin...”

Her wings slowly shot back into her body.

”I… I fucked up,” he said in a very defeated, guilty and suffering voice.

She placed her hand on his face.

Nazar gasped.

Usually, it would calm him down but something was different this time.

She sucked in a breath as she smiled widely.

She spoke.

With every word that came out in a gentle voice, Nazar's body, soul and emotions changed.

Plymouth, UK:

In the residence of the Hall family, Solace was feeling a little worried about Nazar.

She feels something will tick him off and he can ruin this.

In his mind, she has added a script he needs to follow in order to not mess up anything.

But he got rid of their connection as soon as he left.

Solace glanced at the TV in the room and it turned on.

Nazar was soon to be standing before the representatives of the world.

He hadn't started talking but she was worried.

She wasn't the only one worried.

The atmosphere in the room was tense and gloomy.

Seeing that, Emma wanted to change that.

"What was the odd clothing he was wearing earlier?"

Everyone looked at her and had one thought; Seriously, Emma?

"Garment of the Monarch. The official attire of the monarch of Chochica Empire."

"Ah…"

Emma was not very satisfied with the answer.

"Doesn't it look really simple?" Angela said, sounding somewhat disappointed. "I don't know, I was expecting something cooler."

"Well… It's more about its capabilities than its looks," Solace sounded slightly exasperated.

"Oh?"

Seeing the curious look on Angela's face, she frowned.

"The Robe of the Monarch gives him charisma. It makes his words believable and carries a lot of weight."

Angela placed her right elbow on her thigh, and with her fingers, she slowly tapped her chin.

"Interesting. But anything else?"

"It also has defensive and offensive capabilities."

"I see."

Angela was about to ask another question but Solace's expression turned very serious as she narrowed her eyes.

She felt someone appear behind her for an instant.

With the recent powers of Arosus, she caught a glimpse of this dark figure.

"Who…?"

Strengthening the barrier around the house, she marched after this unknown figure.

To the other people in this large living room, she just vanished into thin air.

"I will never get used to this," Angela said in awe.

"I am already used to it," Emma said with a smug smile on her face.

"Oh, me too," added Laura.

Laura, for some reasons, was speaking very cautiously. It seems she didn't want to say something that will embarrass both of them.

"Well, unlike you two, I didn't live with him in the other wor-- timeline."

And the atmosphere turned serious once more.

"Ah."

Laura remembered something she wanted to ask them for a while now. She didn't get many opportunities to ask this beforehand.

"How do you remember him? What do you know of the old Nazar?"

She looked at people in the room.

Maybe it was not my place to ask such a question, she wondered.

Seeing the anxious look on her face, Emma added, "I want to know too. What do you, the outsiders - no offence, by the way - saw him as?"

"None taken," Angela said.

"Of course, besides him killing those people. Who apparently were not really alive."

However...

"- I will destroy the FUCKING WORLD FOR REAL THIS TIME!! -"

When Nazar raised his voice, everyone in the room tensed up.

"Woah… What is he doing?" Harry muttered to himself.

Soon after, Nazar vanished from the screen.

“What just… happened?” Emma wondered with her jaw open.

Aeron's hand twitched slowly as he stared at the screen.

Biting his lip, he stood up frantically and left the room.

Angela, worried, followed him.

"Yo, what's wrong?"

"... Nothing…"

"Huh, really? Doesn't look like nothing to me."

She had an idea regarding his reaction, but she wanted to hear it from his mouth.

"It's just…"

"Is it because he fucked up? I get that. It's piss-taking. But…"

Angela talked as they walked out of the house and towards the lab.

"There is something else too, right?"

In the green field behind their house, Aeron stopped and turned around.

"I had his brain within me for a long time, which created an odd connection between us. It made me weird."

"What are you…?"

"I remember more than one timeline ever since these memories came back to me. In so many timelines, events like these led to him losing his mind and destroying the world."

Her eyes opened wide.

"His brain…"

Aeron paused before continuing.

"In this original timeline, it was corrupted by the demon. But…"

Aeron placed his right hand on his face.

"Even without that corruption, it felt like it contained infinite evil and darkness."

Angela was not sure but she felt a chill run through her body.

"And sometimes… Just like now, I think it will come out."

Seeing the horrified look on his face, she gulped.

"I have seen it happen. When he gave it into the anger and agony, it consumed everything."

"So, what you are saying…"

He took a deep breath.

"I was wrong. I was wrong to suggest that he should go after his God. It could make this worse. Damn it!"

Angela never expected him to care that much about Nazar. She wanted to joke about it to lighten the mood, but words won't come out.

"There is nothing else we can now except keep him close so he won't go after his God."

He turned around and started to walk towards the lab once more.

"In one of the old timelines...”

He paused as he sorted out his memories.

“After a similar incident, he went out of control and… and...”

He swallowed his saliva.

“Well, the world died - us included.”

"So, you are saying…?"

"Simple. We need to make sure he doesn't get that angry. Keep him close. Away from troubles. And maybe..."

Aeron trailed off.

"He is like a child. A child with infinite power. So… When we need to keep him happy, I guess."

"Why did you not say this to him before he went?"

He clicked his tongue.

"When that girl-- android said she had a plan, I thought it wouldn't get this bad. She knows what he knows. So, she knows what happened then..."

"That's…"

She thought for a moment.

"So, you knew this and somehow brushed it off?"

"I know. I shouldn't have brushed it off just like that… I just... I thought..."

Aeron scratched the back of his head furiously.

She let out a sigh.

"Say… I need to confirm something," she said in a stern tone "Is Nazar telling the truth?"

He looked at her with a confused look on his face.

"Everything he said to you… us… was any of it true? Is there really a powerful God who destroyed everything? Or is it just his delusion?"

He shook his head immediately.

"When I was the Dreamer, I saw him. He is known as the Nameless One across the multiverse. And I know that he had possessed his friend, Emily. He is telling the truth."

"I see…"

Angela was not very convinced but even then, she forced a smile on her face.

"Can't believe someone this close to us was such a…"

She slowly trailed off as she thought of a word.

"Dangerous?"

She kept quiet as she thought.

"I guess..." she sounded troubled. "I was thinking of powerful but dangerous works too."

London, UK:

A caucasian man in his 20s with short dark blonde hair and grey eyes, standing at 1.75 CM was sitting in a park and thinking.

This man had a small birthmark on his neck.

Unlike usual, the park was empty because people were crawling up in their homes. They were scared.

In this empty park, he was staring at the blue sky above when next to him, someone appeared from thin air.

“Sup, bro?”

He looked at the person beside her and let out a small sigh.

“Hi, Em,” said Jake Jones - Emily Jones’ older brother.

Emily leaned back on the bench and smiled.

“So, what’s with the depressed look?”

He looked at her with a confused look on his face.

“I am not depressed.”

“Oh come on now, I can see your emotions. What is it? What’s bothering you?”

He shrugged.

“Nothing.”

“Is it… Ah!”

She smiled as she realised what he might be thinking about.

“You learned you had powers in the original timeline so now you wish you had them here.”

“What?”

He looked at her in reflex.

“No, no. That’s not---”

Letting out a heavy sigh, he looked down.

“Well, that’s part of it. Just a little.”

“Then?”

“It’s just the other world. I don’t know… It was pretty messed up. My life. Yours Everyone else’s… I was just thinking about that.”

She patted him on his back and said, “I can give you your powers if you want.”

And hope glittered in his eyes.

“As for the other world… I am not sure how else I can help but… Listen to you, I guess?”

"Thanks, sis. But... no."

"Ouch."

He chuckled.

"So, anything else that's bothering you?"

He shook his head.

"Not sure..."

"I thought you were going to ask about him."

"Him..." he tilted his head in a confused manner. "Who...?"

"Nazar."

"Ah."

Jake looked down.

"So, what's up with Nazar? He fucked up big time, didn't he?"

She nodded.

"Yep," she sounded both disappointed and happy.

"Are you going to help?"

She shook her head slightly.

Without looking at her, he knew her response.

"Why is that?"

“I--”

Emily gulped as she remembered her recent interaction with Solace.

"Why would I help him?"

"Well, I don't think he is the type who would ask for your help…"

She looked at him in reflex.

"Just because he is more powerful than me?!"

Seeing the angry look on her eyes, he averted his eyes.

"Just saying."

"Forget that…"

Seeing the worried look on her face, he wondered what was wrong.

"Were you… Did you two become friends after I died?"

Jake thought about it for a moment.

"I wouldn't call us friends. Just hung around once in a while. Well, it was mostly because I was friends with the Norse God guy."

"I see…"

There was quiet for a short while before Emily spoke.

"Do you want to get back your powers?"

"Huh?"

"Isn't that why you look so depressed?"

He didn't say anything.

A smug smile appeared on her face.

"You know, I could give you your powers. So, just say the word."

He thought about it.

"Wouldn't be bad in the slightest."

She stood up.

"Alright then. I will give you your powers. But in return…"

She looked back at him and narrowed her eyes.

"There is a price."

"No," he replied with a deadpan expression.

She frowned.

"Come on now… I have been waiting for this moment for two decades now!!!!!!" she shouted out. "Ugh, you just ruined it. I wanted to make it look like you were making a deal with the devil."

Jake laughed.

"Don't laugh at my dreams!!!"

Cres, Croatia:

In the port, every worker had gathered around a small TV. They were watching Nazar on TV.

However, one man was not watching the TV.

A little far from them, there stood a tall and muscular man. He was a 1.85 CM tall man with dark blue eyes and black hair. On the face of this man, there was a vertical scratch on his right eye.

The face of the man melted into a thin smile.

"Haha," laughed the man in a beastly voice.

This mysterious man has been working at this port for a few years but no one knows much about him. Save for two other people - his wife and child.

"You really did it now, Nazar."

A strange person who has a connection to Nazar.

"The centrepiece of the evils you face… You brought this upon yourself, God."

Although he spoke loudly, no one around him could hear him.

That smile on his face vanished abruptly.

"I just hope you leave my sister out of this."

The big man narrowed his eyes.

"Or else you will pay the price."

The blue sky was replaced by the darkest clouds.

"So, swears I, Sen Destroyer!"

He clenched his fist.

"Do you hear me, God?"
