Chapter 95 - Arc 12 - The God Eater - Part 8

Friday 18th of June - Earth:

In the morning, Nazar sat down on the floor in his room and pressed his back against the best - in which Laura was still sleeping on.

“Right.”

(Accessing Nazar 1.0.) He thought to himself.

Nazar looked down as he felt power within.

His powers had returned - albeit not completely.

“It’s time to talk.”

Nazar closed his eyes.

Inside his mind, he entered a white void.

In front of him, stood dozens of Nazars.

“Let’s talk,” Nazar talked in a stern tone.

All Nazars stared at him.

“I have to ask all of you something… Where do you stand?”

Silence is what he got in return.

“That personality with God complex is gone - thanks to Emily. So, where do you stand? What do you want? Does anyone else want to be a God?”

A man whose form was nothing but darkness walked forward.

With every step, the white void was turning black.

“I don’t want to be a God, but I have to tell you something… No, him.”

He looked back.

At the farthest corner, a Nazar without emotions can be seen with his arms folded as he lazily leaned against a wall of light.

Opening his eyes lazily which had a scar on it, he looked at the darkness and said.

“I admit, I failed this time. I did not have enough data nor powers to get to Arosus.”

“No, that is not what I am saying.”

“I agree with him,” said the Nazar with angelic wings. “You did not have to bring Emma or Aria into it.”

“Then what was I supposed to do?”

Nazar watched as they talked amongst themselves.

He wondered, was it really necessary for him to bring them all back?

Perhaps not, but he likes having all of them here. Just in case of an emergency.

“You are the original, the most ruthless of us, so you should have figured out something different. With your ability to calculate and scheme years ahead, you should have figured out a way to challenge him.”

The demonic Nazar felt unimaginable anger.

“Most ruthless of us,“ he muttered his breath. “I am a demon. I am the evilest and ruthless. If it were up to me, I would have killed them--!! Ah.”

Before smiling thinly, the demonic Nazar cleared his throat.

“Why did you not kill them to prove that you--”

A Nazar who was covered in blue energy shot him with an energy shot, nearly killing him.

Sighing, the darkness with the shape of a human continued.

“Anyway, what if he has asked you to kill them as proof? Would you have done it?”

The emotionless Nazar narrowed his eyes.

“I would have done it.”

“!!”

Everyone’s body tensed up.

“If it meant getting Arosus on our side, why no--Hrk!”

Nazar held him by the throat as his eyes lit up with red energy.

“Do you know why I am doing all of this? Do you know why I am fighting against her? Not for myself. No, not in the slightest.”

Hearing his cold voice, every other Nazar took a step back.

“Do you know why I didn’t say that accursed word and became omnipotent? Or forced Arosus to bond with me again?”

Nazar strengthened his grip on the emotionless Nazar’s throat.

“Ngh.”

Even though they are inside Nazar’s mind, he can feel physical pain.

“I am doing all of this for them. I don’t want them to die again. I don’t want them to feel that kind of pain again.”

He lowered his gaze.

“It is true, I wanted to do it for myself at one point. I want this to end for my sake. But I don’t care about that anymore. I am doing it for them. I must defeat her for their sake. I must save myself for their sake.”

He threw away the emotionless Nazar.

“I will never allow any of you to hurt them. I have saved the world, the universe and the multiverse countless times just for their sake. Do you understand?”

Nazar gritted his teeth as the white void shook.

“DO. YOU. UNDERSTAND?”

“Yes,” said all of them in unison.

Their voices were filled with fear.

Almost every personality of Nazar had enough power to shatter a world with a flick of their finger. However, all of them feared the main Nazar.

“If you don’t, I will kill all of you. I don’t care about the negative effects on my body and mind, I will kill all of you. Got it?”

“...Yes,” said all of them again in unison.

He then looked at the emotionless one.

“Do YOU understand?”

"If you really want to protect them, then you should do whatever is necessary to win this battle."

Seeing the emotionless smile on his face, Nazar frowned.

"You just want to protect yourself. You don't want more power. You don't want to be left alone. The only reason you are saving them is because of your own selfish reasons."

Nazar clicked his tongue.

“You might be the original, but I am the main one. I have moved past that phase while you are still stuck in the past. So, you do as I say. Understood?”

“Heh. Sure.”

“Good.”

"But you will have to cross the line sooner or later. Don't say I didn't warn you."

"Shut up. I will do it differently."

"As Emily said, we are the NPCs of this world. Our fate is already written. Can you change fate itself? Can you save them and yourself and not cross the line? Our actions are determined by those around us. And when it comes to it, I can see that you will cross that line. You will be forced into it by those around you."

"What a joke."

"This is my challenge to you. Save us, save them, save everything and don't cross the line. Don't reach that state again. Or take Arosus' power. Or even use your Godly powers. Oh, and don't ask for help from anyone, including Solace."

The other Nazars stared at the main one with great interest.

"Wait, wait, wait--"

Ignoring him, the emotionless Nazar continued.

"Let's make this a game between us."

"???"

"If you do these and still win, then that's good. That will be your win. But if you fail at even one of these, you lose. Do you understand what I am getting at?"

"...Yes."

"Prove to us, yourself and everyone else that you are not just talk. Prove to everyone that you are not some pathetic NPC. Defy fate itself. Defy the path is set for us."

He reached out his hand to Nazar.

"Let begin the game."

Shaking his hand, Nazar smiled.

"Sure. I will prove to everyone. I will defy fate itself. I will not cross the line and save everyone."

"Your chance of winning is less than 1%."

"I can do it. I will win," Nazar said with great determination.

"Oh, then I will add another condition…"

Before the other Nazar could continue, everyone had already guessed what this condition is.

"If you lose, I will take over. Deal-- No, we are already shaking hands. You have accepted the deal."

Nazar frowned.

Nazar’s eyes slowly opened as the white void within him dissolved into nothing.

“What a pain...” he muttered to himself.

Sitting with his eyes closed, he thought about what happened with Arosu and God Eater.

(Speaking of… I need to pay Haru a visit. Killing that many people for the first time and then nearly dying, that must be hard.) He thought to himself.

"Maybe it was a mistake to give them powers?"

“Why did it look like you were meditating?”

“Gah?!”

Nazar’s body jerked as he looked back and saw Laura smiling.

Letting out a sigh of relief, he said, “Couldn’t you warn me?”

“Haha, sorry.”

Laura sat up.

"Right. Forget that. What happened last night?"

"A lot."

"Eh? Did you touch me while I was asleep??"

"What? No," Nazar replied immediately.

"Oh right. Kind of disappointing."

Nazar let out a heavy sigh.

"And you didn't even change my clothes," she looked down at herself. "You know how hard it is to sleep in tight jeans and a tight shirt?"

"Oh… I forgot."

She frowned.

"So, what happened last night? I can't really remember what I said but I think I said something stupid."

Nazar averted his gaze, as he looked at the window.

"The weather is kind of cloudy today. I should make it sunny."

"Wait!!!! I did something again, didn't I?!?!"

"N-no…"

Nazar waved his hand and the weather outside changed from cloudy to sunny.

"Oh, did you know that---"

She placed her hand on his shoulder.

"What did…"

Feeling the strong grip of her hand, Nazar slowly turned around.

"I…"

"Oh, you know--"

"Say?"

To avoid her glaring eyes, Nazar smiled stiffly.

"Well… A lot."

Laura gulped as she loosened her grip on Nazar’s shoulder.

“L-like what?”

Nazar rubbed his chin as thought about it before speaking.

“Well, for starters, I got called a wimp and a big disappointment.”

“Uhhh…” Laura stared at him blankly. She was expecting something more grandeur than that.

“Then Emma said. “She is drunk and can’t give consent, so don’t do anything weird, you nonce.” Which kind of hurts to hear, you know?”

“That’s it?”

She looked disappointed.

“And then the biggest one...”

Laura stared at him blankly, waiting for another disappointing comment.

“You asked for a ring.”

“Oh---”

Her face flushed beet red as she cut off her sentence.

“Wh-wha-wh-wha-wh-what? WHAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTT????????”

“You didn’t have your necklace on, so you got drunk and then Angela asked what I gave you. When I said I gave you a necklace, she said why not a ring instead? Which is why you asked for a ring.”

“Um… Uh...”

Nazar looked at the fidgeting Laura.

Twiddling her fingers shyly, she said, “Y-you can f-forget about. I-I-I-I didn’t me-mean it.”

She rushed over and laid down under the blanket.

Nazar scratched his cheek nervously.

“You know, it’s kind of cute when you show-- Ouch!”

Before he could finish, Laura flung a pillow at him.

“I-I-I am not e-embarrassed!!!” she shouted out frantically.

“Uh…”

“It’s weird to ask for something like that! Especially in front of other people. And even worse when it's in front of the guy’s family!! What the hell would they think of me now??”

“Hm, that is true.”

“Shut up! You are not helllllllllllllpiiinnngggggggggggg!!!!!”

“Sorry?” Nazar said as he shrugged.

“This is going to be very awkward.”

“Eh, I don’t know how normal people do it… But I don’t think my family will mind it. They will probably shrug it off as a joke. That’s a big probably, by the way.”

Laura let out a heavy sigh as she sat up.

“If it comes to it, just wipe out their memories.”

“I love how quickly you get over things. It’s one of your best traits.”

“Oh?”

Laura smiled thinly.

“What is my best trait?”

“Your boo-- personality. Very good personality. Mm-hmm, very interesting personality.”

“Disappointing.”

She karate-chopped his head slowly.

“Sorry, I was just joking,” Nazar said in a heavy tone. He felt bad for saying that.

Noticing the somewhat sad look on his face, she smiled.

“I know. No need to get serious over it. I can take a joke. Plus, my boobs are great. I am proud of it.”

She rubbed his head.

Thinking for a short while, Laura changed the topic, “Ah, you know what? I have been meaning to ask.”

“Hm?”

“What kind of underwear do you prefer?”

He looked back at with a confused look on his face.

“And what colour do you prefer?”

Nazar blinked a few times in confusion.

“Oh, nevermind. I can guess the latter. Your favourite colour is black, right? So, I guess you would like black underwear.”

“There is only one type of underwear anyway.”

She stared at him blankly.

“What do you use your powers for?”

Before he could move his mouth, Laura added something.

“Besides flying or teleporting or destroying or creating… You get what I mean, right?”

Nazar looked around.

“I remember when I changed the layout of the house.”

“You already told me the boring stuff. Something spicier. Like using your powers to see a girl naked.”

“Never done it.”

She sighed.

“But I have done something worse. Which I try to keep it a secret from everyone.”

“Oh?” she looked at him closely with extreme curiosity.

“You would never look at me the same if you find out about my secret.”

“Oh, now I definitely need to know.”

Nazar took a deep breath.

“You see, inside my mind, I created this mental pocket reality where I have slept with every girl I have ever found attractive.”

She widened her eyes.

“See?” Nazar forced a smile to hide his embarrassment. “I told you--”

“I am glad you said all of that to me...”

She smiled as she nodded in admiration.

“Finally something good. I was worried you were too much of a wimp.”

Feeling conflicted, he smiled stiffly.

“Then why do you never take lead in anything?”

“Domination can be pretty hot sometimes,” he said with a high spirit.

Which he regretted immediately and wanted to reverse time so it never left his mouth.

“So, that’s your kink?! I am impressed.”

Nazar smiled nervously.

"I mean, not that kind… Ah, whatever."

"Cute," Laura licked her lips.

Seeing the thin smile on her face, Nazar smiled nervously.

She wrapped her arms around her neck and kissed him on the cheek.

"I am going out with Emma and I am going to buy something spicy♡."

Nazar's body jolted.

"Not THAT kind of spicy. Just something like lingerie."

"Oh…"

He let out a sigh of relief.

"So, can I borrow some money? I promise I will give it back. It's just I don't have my card since Solace teleported me out of there abruptly."

"Sure. I got you. The interest will be 500% for each passing day."

"Kay♫."

She stood up.

"Oh, yeah… I need clothes too."

"What did you do to the device I gave you?"

She looked away as she sweats nervously.

"I don't trust your technology… he..he…"

"My technology is some of the most advanced technology…"

Nazar let out a heavy sigh as he trailed off.

"Wh-what it fails and leaves me naked in the middle of the city?"

"You would have saved more money this way," Nazar said as he shrugged.

"True…"

He looked at her neck.

"That doesn't matter… but try to keep the necklace close."

Seeing him say that with a serious look on his face, she nodded.

"It should keep you safe."

He forced a smile on his face.

"Sor--"

Before he could apologize again, Laura kissed him on the lips.

"If you apologize for something like this again, when it's not exactly your fault, I will slap you."

"That's domestic abuse," Nazar said with a blank look on his face.

"Right."

Heaven:

A skinny man with a chalk-like white skin, grey hair and red eyes sat on an endless green field.

He was wearing a dirty black gown with a robe covering most of his face.

This skinny man looked malnourished but he was perfectly healthy. In fact, he is one of the most powerful people to exist in this Ultraverse.

He is death incarnated. He is the Angel of Death, Azazel.

The Angel of Death is unsurprisingly hated and thrown aside by other angels. Due to his nature, they fear him.

So, in this endless greenfield, he sits alone.

“My beautiful grass,” he said in a weak voice as he let out a barely audible laugh.

He slowly moved his hand and touched the grass.

But something else happened.

“Ah...”

The grass withered into nothing.

“Every time... I wish it is different… but sadly, it’s always… the same,” he lowered his head with a sad look on his face.

“Ugh, get a grip, will you?”

Hearing a feminine yet cold voice, he raised his hand.

“Don’t act like you did not see this coming. You have been expecting me.”

“But of course, you are not acting like your usual self. I must admit, I did not expect you to fall under the control of an unknown entity.“

The angel stood up weakly.

“Forget that, I am here to kill you.”

She laughed.

“It’s ironic. The Angel of Death… Death itself will die.”

“I am afraid, I don’t quite see it as poetic as you do.

As the skinny man became a muscular and energetic man, she sucked in a breath.

“I do not wish to battle you. I hate fights. I hate violence. I hate death. But fear not...”

She was forcefully removed from heaven.

In another dimension, far from heaven, the Angel of Death let out a sigh.

“Why can’t we solve everything by talking?” he muttered under his breath.

She surveyed the dimension.

“Worry not, my controlled friend.”

“It’s nothing but green… But--”

“I created this dimension. I do not want our battle to harm the heavens.”

She looked at him in the eyes.

It seemed as if she was staring at endless death.

So, she averted her gaze immediately.

“To save everyone, I must put aside my ideals. So...”

Azazel shot out two white wings from his back that were covered in dark energy.

With his wings being unleashed, a white halo appeared on his head. Like his wings, the halo was also covered in dark energy.

“Let’s battle!”

“You will die, Angel of Death!”

“No, I will save everyone!”

And so, the Angel of Death clashed with this mysterious being.

Their battle will go on for a long time and the outcome… will not be good.
