Chapter 92 - Arc 12 - The God Eater - Part 6
Thursday 17th of June:
“Good morning, papa!”
Opening his eyes slowly, Nazar saw a kid sitting on top of his chest.
Seeing the kid smile widely, he wondered who it was for a second.
“Who…?”
He felt someone laying down next to him on the bed.
Looking to his right side, he saw a beautiful petite woman with purple eyes and grey hair.
“Morning, honey.”
“R-Rina?!”
Nazar sat up frantically.
The kid fell down on his back.
“Wait, wait, wait, wait--- What...?”
Nazar stood up, breathing heavily.
“What happened…?”
“Nazar! What is wrong with you?”
The kid started to cry, so Rina picked him up and calmed down.
“This place...”
(What happened to the previous one…?) He thought to himself. (Wait!!! Can it be...)
He looked back at the kid and Rina as he realised what was happening.
But...
“Death!”
Behind him, the Queen - wearing her mask on her face - appeared.
In her hand, was a sword which she swung.
Nazar’s mind went blank as he saw his child and wife were killed in front of his eyes.
Before he could react, the queen stabbed him in the chest.
As his eyes slowly started to close, he saw a white light destroy everything.
Then he found himself in the dark.
(Why am I reliving those...)
Then light again.
“Why the horrified face?”
He was hugged from behind by a petite blonde woman.
“Is something bothering you, dear?”
Nazar looked at her face and his eyes widened.
“Emily?!”
Nazar jumped up.
“Wh-wha-what--”
“What’s wrong with you today?”
“Was… Was that your doing? Why will you show me that again?”
Emily stared at him with a confused look.
“Dude, you are the one with powers. Not me. I can’t do that.”
“Hu-- Th-Then why are… Wait, where am-- No...”
He looked around and found himself in a small house in central London.
This is where he used to live in the original timeline.
“This timeline… It was destroyed.”
“Ehhhhh?”
Nazar read her mind and she was not lying.
She doesn’t have powers.
“NO!!!”
And so, the Queen appeared in the room again, slitting the throat of yet another powerless person.
(Move, damn it!)
“Failure,” says the Queen of Virrasil. “This was a failure.”
Before Nazar could move, the Queen cut off his head with a sword.
And so, there was darkness once again.
(I jumping between dead timelines… I need to leave this before... Why is this happening?)
He bit his lip.
(I need to get out-- What now?)
There was light again.
Opening his eyes, he saw Laura's face.
Seeing the horror in his eyes, Laura tilted her head in a confused manner.
"Where am I…?"
Standing up frantically, he looked around. His mother and Solace were also in the room.
(Mom… She is scared.)
"You are sweating so much," Laura said as she wiped his face with a tissue.
"Wh… What timeline is this?"
(I have been jumping between dead timelines for a while now… It took me so long to notice that it was not a dream.)
"Uh… The current one?"
Solace sounded as if she said something very obvious.
He did not believe her.
(When I tried to sleep on Eir, I wasn't dreaming. I was going through different timelines. I see.)
"What happened today? Who did I fight today?"
"Um, nobody?"
"!!!"
His throat went dry as he looked around in horror.
(This isn't my timeline either. Which means they will be getting killed… Can I save them? In my timeline, they should still be there… But what about…)
"You fought the God Eater yesterday."
"...Oh…"
(That is true. I have never fought the God Eater in any of the previous timelines. I really haven't. And this scene has never played out in another timeline. But still...)
Nazar closed his eyes as he slowly scratched his forehead.
(And I don't have my powers. They haven't come back. Everything adds up. I am back in my own timeline.)
"Your powers did come back but I had to get rid of them for a moment. You were shaking the whole universe. And nearly destroyed this house. It's hard to keep everything under control sometimes. Which is why I brought her here to bring you out of your nightmare."
(I see. So, that's why she was scared.)
Nazar looked at Solace in the eyes.
("That wasn't a nightmare.") He told Solace telepathically.
She nodded to let him know that she knows.
“Of course, I could save you too but I have been overworking...”
Solace trailed off as she noticed the remorseful expression on his face.
Nazar bit his lip.
"Sorry, Mom."
"Oh… Ah…"
Aya did not know how to respond to that so she looked down.
“Sorry, I… I am not like Emma. I can’t just brush off stuff like these as if they are nothing. I know how horrible I sound but..."
“Well, no one can brush it off like that,” Solace said. “You are right to fear him.”
Aya looked at Solace with complicated feelings.
“I mean, it would be odd if you did not feel scared. Emma is weird. She doesn’t care about most things. Any sane person would be scared of him.”
“Thanks, Solace,” Nazar muttered sarcastically under his breath.
“Err… Maybe except for this weirdo,” Solace pointed at Laura.
In return, Laura smiled stiffly.
Nazar let out a sigh and forced himself to stand.
“But that’s who I am.”
“...”
Aya noticed how Nazar’s feet wobbled and couldn’t stand up properly.
“I wish I could change it.”
Nazar chuckled.
“For a guy who has Absolute Wish, I can’t wish for this power to go-- Woah!”
Nazar fell to his knees, so Aya rushed next to him.
“A-are you okay?”
He smiled and nodded.
“Anyway, as Solace said, it would have been weird if you did not get scared. No matter how much I pretend...”
Nazar hung his head low.
“I am not a human. I wish I was but I am not. Never was and maybe never will be. I was created as a weapon. A weapon of mass destruction by this old and ancient God of Destruction.”
Whenever Nazar is feeling down, he goes back to his original thinking. He thinks it makes the situation better but it only makes it worse for himself or those around him.
“I have reached a place higher than anyone else. I destroyed everything once. Everything. So, it’s okay to be scared of me. I am not a human.”
He raised his head.
Seeing the sad smile on his face, Aya felt pain in her chest.
This is her own child.
“Sorry about that.”
“...”
“I am sorry for scaring you. It won’t happen again.”
Nazar looked at Solace.
“Solace, let’s go--”
“No.”

Aya hugged him tightly.
“I am sorry. I don’t want you to feel so distant from me again. I don’t the old world to repeat itself.”
“Mom...”
“I am sorry. I am so sorry for everything. I love you. So, please don’t go.”
“He was just going away for the moment,” Solace muttered under breath. “I guess she misunderstood.”
“I don’t want our family to break apart again because of my… Because of...”
Her eyes welled up.
“I don’t want to lose you again when I got you back just now. I don’t… I am sorry but… But please don’t go.”
She stopped hugging him.
“I know I am scared. But please...”
Placing her hands on his face, she looked straight in the eyes.
“But please don’t leave. I love you. We all love you. So...”
“Okay.”
“I was not going to leave forever but maybe for a short while so I didn’t cause any problems…” Nazar said slowly.
She inhaled sharply when Nazar replied to her with a wide smile.
“But I am glad to know that you still love me, haha.”
Aya removed her hands from his face and sat back down.
“A while ago, I know I asked you not to be afraid of me… But I think I was being unrealistic. Fear is a normal reaction to a wea--”
Nazar stopped talking when Aya placed her finger on his mouth.
“You ARE not a weapon. Maybe you are not a human. Maybe you are too far above. Maybe you are a great destroyer. But!”
She sucked in a breath before continuing.
“You ARE my son,” she said with a stern tone. “I know, it pathetic of me to be scared of you but you are still my son. I love you. And I can see that you love me. So, don’t ever think of yourself as a weapon.”
She smiled.
“I don't want to be scared of you… So, please…”
She hugged him tightly again.
"Stay here with us. And don't get hurt. I am not as scared of you as I am scared for you. You are reckless at times, from what she told me."
Solace looked away immediately to avoid Nazar's gaze.
"Please don't do that to yourself. Being reckless and hurting yourself will get you nowhere."
"...Okay."
Nazar smiled.
"Sorry. I didn't really want it to come off like that. It was… um…"
"I know."
She stopped hugging him and smiled at him.
"You have a fever. Go to sleep and rest for a while."
Nazar stared at her blankly.
"I don't get ill."
"You do now," Solace said as she analysed his body. "I could heal you but it's better if you get a taste of some normal human problems."
Seeing her say that with a thin evil smile, Nazar frowned.
"We will talk again when you are better," Aya said as she kissed him on the forehead.
Solace's finger twitched and Nazar's eyes closed.
Aya looked back at Solace in reflex.
"I just put him to sleep."
"Oh..." she said as she let out a sigh of relief.
Aya was still not used to the true Nazar before her.
"I think it will be better if he gets over this like a normal human. It should help change his mindset at times."
Solace talked as she moved Nazar's body with telekinesis and put him on the bed.
"Or if you want, I can just heal him. It's up to you..."
Solace thought about how she should refer to Aya for a moment.
(Calling her Aya would be rude. Mrs Hall seems so distant. Maybe I should call her mom? Hmm.)
Aya looked at Nazar's body and then looked down as she thought for a moment.
Solace then looked at Laura.
“What do you think?”
“Um… Uh...” Laura looked around with a confused look on her face.
Solace continued to speak before Laura could say something else.
“I already gave you my opinion. I think it will be good for him to get some good rest and experience some normal human problems. I feel like he needs it too.”
"I think it's better this way."
Solace smiled.
“Got it. I will try and heal him if his condition gets worse though.”
“Thanks.”
“I will keep a close eye on him."
Aya smiled as she left the room.
She looked at Laura.
"Right. I am sorry for dragging you all the way here. I had to keep his powers in check and bringing him out of there would have hurt him mentally at that moment."
"It's okay."
Laura sighed.
"He can't even sleep normally, huh?"
"It's emotional and dream manipulation at the end of the day. Something close to him is affecting."
Laura looked at Solace.
"No, no. It's not me. Not anymore. Something else. Maybe even someone else. Not sure."
"I see…"
"It seems that it infected him once and it grew from there."
Laura strolled her fingers on his hair.
"Anyway, I brought you here for another reason…"
It seems Laura caught onto what Solace was about to say, so she frowned.
"The introduction to this family should have gone differently… but this is a good chance to get on the good side of his mother."
Though Solace said that with a proud look on her face, Laura smiled nervously.

After many hours, Nazar opened his eyes again.
This time, he was not forced to open his eyes but because he had rested fully.
"No dreams… huh?"
"Oh, so you are awake."
Hearing a cold voice next to him, Nazar sat up frantically.
"Oh, it's you…"
Nazar let out a sigh of relief.
"You sound like a supervillain, Aeron."
Aaron just ignored him.
"I need to tell you something. But for before that…"
"Hm?"
"What the hell happened to you?"
"Long story short: something calling itself the God Eater wanted to steal my energies and give it to his master and then… Well, I used everything I had and it was still not enough. But I did manage to change the state of his existence," Nazar said very quickly.
"I see…"
Nazar frowned.
"Why do you not believe anything I say?"
"Well, you did lie to my face for two decades. I don't know, you tell me."
"That's…"
Nazar did not know how to refute that. Aeron was not lying.
"Yeah, you are right."
"Here."
Aeron picked up a can and threw at Nazar.
"This is trash," Nazar said disgustingly as he looked at the beer.
"You are trash."
"...Fair."
“So, who is she?”
“Who…?”
Nazar tilted his head in a confused manner.
“That girl. What’s her name… Lara... Ah, Laura. Yes, who is she?”
“Ah. That’s my girlfriend. And your future sister-in-law.”
“Oh, I can’t wait for that to end horribly for you,” Aeron said with a blank look.
Nazar’s shoulders drooped.
“That was a joke.”
“I know.”
Seeing the blank look on his face, Nazar sighed deeply.
“Anyway, I need to tell you something.”
Seeing the serious face on Aeron’s face, Nazar’s throat went dry.
He has never seen him make a face like that.
“After I got my memories, I remember that everything I saw in my dreams was real. And that you were not lying that.”
“What are you…?”
Nazar’s eyes widened.
“Wait, you don’t mean…?”
Aeron nodded.
“I dreamt of this other “world”. Most of the dream was nothing but dark. However, at one point, for a short time, people would appear in it. I have been seeing the dream since… I can’t remember when but most of my life.”
“Did you see anything odd?”
He shook his head.
“Exactly the same as my memories.”
“I see.”
“I did not believe you at first because it resembles something out of my dream. But then I got my memories back and...”
Aeron averted his gaze.
“Well, you were not lying.”
“...”
“But I wanted to know,” Aeron looked Nazar in the eyes. “How? How was I able to remember the world in a dream?”
“Ah, it’s simple.”
Nazar held his index finger to his temple.
“You had my brain, remember? That’s how.”
“Ah.”
“Nothing too serious in this body of yours. So, I don’t think you need to worry.”
“I was worried those powers would come back to me.”
“Haha, do you want it? I could give you those powers.”
“Well, it has its merits but looking at you, I say it has more drawbacks.”
“Ouch!”
Nazar stood up and walked towards the window.
Looking around, he noticed that it was his room when he was a child.
It was a large room - like most of the rooms in this house. It had a large bed in the corner of the room.
There was a large bookshelf with comics and books in it and a few action figures.
Near the bookshelf was a desk with a computer on it.
Aeron was sitting in front of the desk.
“Anyway, where is Aria?”
Without powers, he struggled a little to open the beer can.
For some reasons, his body felt much weaker than ever.
“She is around. Why?”
“She seems pretty distant these days,” Nazar said as he took a sip of the beer. "I was wondering if anything is wrong with her."
“Oh, it’s nothing serious. She is just pregnant.”
“Pfft!”
Nazar spat out the beer and coughed.
“What the what?”
“Yeah, she found out a few weeks ago, so she is not sure what she wants to do. She told me not to tell anyone… but you probably would have found out anyway.”
“Seriously? That pipsqueak??”
“Yeah,” Aeron shrugged.
“Kind of hard to believe.”
“I guess so.”
Nazar looked at the beer on the window.
Aeron watched as Nazar moved his hand around.
“Uh… What the hell are you doing?”
“Just making sure my powers are not back.”
(Good. My powers haven’t come back. It will take a short while to restore fully. I can use [Recharge] but I don’t hate this state right now.)
“Oh.”
Nazar’s body shivered.
“Fever is scary.”
“First time?”
Nazar nodded.
“I think so. I cannot remember having a fever before.”
“...”
“Sometimes I am happy I don’t have to deal with nuisances like these. They can be scary.”
“...”
Aeron stared at him blankly.
“...”
Aeron sighed heavily.
“Don’t worry, you are an idiot, so you won’t catch it anyway.”
“Who you calling an idiot?”
Nazar smiled thinly.
“Let me prove my intelligence to you.”
“Um...”
“I will use household appliances to build a weapon that can destroy a universe in an hour. Just watch me!”
Nazar looked for paper and pens in his room.
Aeron facepalmed.
“Oh, he really is stupid.”

Starchild
“It’s life’s illusions I recall. I really don’t know life at all.” from the song, Both Sides Now, by Joni Mitchell Starchild is an adventure novel set within an understanding of reality that is rooted in Eastern spiritual traditions. It takes as its starting point experiments in remote viewing that were genuinely undertaken by the American military in the nineteen-nineties under the name of the Stargate Project. It then imagines how a more advanced attempt to weaponise the capabilities of consciousness might have been developed in the present day.The story then explores how Ultimate Reality might respond to such a threat.Deep, elemental forces thus bring together Samantha Martin and Sahadeva Varma, old colleagues from the Stargate Project, to avert the apocalyptic consequences of this military attempt to weaponise consciousness. This fast-paced story spans genres including romance, action, adventure, science fiction and more. Although this story is based on concepts drawn from established spiritual traditions, these have sometimes been extrapolated to the point of very extreme speculation for the needs of an adventure story.Much of the underlying philosophy, however, as explained in the dharma talks given by Samantha Martin, is paraphrased from the guidance of respected spiritual teachers. Scheduling: Starchild is a previously unpublished novel of one hundred thousand words which was serialised in weekly instalments over twenty-five weeks from 15th November 2021 to the 29th April 2022. Each instalment contains five chapters – an average of approximately four thousand words in each instalment.
