Chapter 89 - Arc 12 - The God Eater - Part 3

The beast who calls himself the “God Eater” was being thrown from one side of the planet to the other by Nazar.

He was not getting close to him. Nazar has been attacking him using the fundamental forces of the universe for a while now. However, he finds it hard to send this beast away once and for all.

Above the Atlantic Ocean, Nazar was floating with his eyes closed.

(Psychic forces… Magic now… Electromagnetism… Gravity… Kine-- Hm?)

Suddenly, something else happened.

He has been bouncing the beats from one place to another from far away but something changed.

The beast was no longer being affected. He was fighting back. The beast was manipulating the same forces to stop Nazar from controlling his movement.

(Oh boy… This guy is more troublesome than he looks).

He took a deep breath.

Opening his eyes slowly, his pupils had changed. His pupils were not round but oval-shaped vertical pupils.

Space around him looked like it got cut in half.

“Of course. That wouldn’t work.”

He looked defeated.

(To think that I could pull him into another dimension…)

Nazar floated in the same place for a short while and stopped attacking the beast.

From the corner of his eyes, he saw the beast coming towards him.

“Finally.”

He cracked his fingers.

(Alright. I will leave this dimension and he will follow me.)

He slashed the air with his hand and a doorway to another dimension appeared.

Nazar went to the other dimension which was illuminated with green energy, leaving the door behind him open.

“!!”

However, the beast did not follow him.

“You are a God, are you not?”

The beast growling voice can be heard in another dimension.

“I will not play on a playground where I have a disadvantage. To match God… I must use your home as a shield. I will use these humans as shields.”

(He is very smart. That intelligence and battle-hungry state…)

Nazar’s eyes widened.

(Of course! Reaper. He got it from none other than Reaper.)

"I want to avoid fighting you as much as possible. I would love to but you are God and I am a mere mortal. I need to just get that power of yours, so I will avoid fighting. But if it comes to it, I will use these humans as shields."

He could see the smug smile on the hairy face of the beast.

“Come here to this playground and give me your power or I will kill everyone on this planet.”

(Those close to me can even survive the destruction of the multiverse - thanks to the Ultimate Nullification barrier - but...)

Nazar sighed.

“Fine.”

(There is no other way.)

He flew out of the doorway and punched the beast in the chest.

Nazar immediately noticed that some of his energies were stolen.

“They call me the God Eater.”

Grey energy covered his entire body.

“And your end has come, God!”

The beast leapt towards Nazar at an unimaginable speed but Nazar dodged him.

(Ever since Emily unlocked me, my forms have been acting up. When in a dire situation, my body takes control and the barrier between some of the forms breaks apart, thus giving me an advantage. I hate it so much.)

Even when he was fighting against the Queen, his body would act up and keep him safe.

(But if it wasn’t for that, I would have been thrown to the other side of the world now.)

The beats smiled as he swung another punch at Nazar but he dodged it again.

(He wants to touch me physically since he can steal most of my power that way… What a fearsome beast.)

Nazar took a deep breath.

(This calls for form change. Almost all of my forms use my… own energies. I need something--- Yes, Ion should do the job.)

A black armour appeared around him.

(It won’t stand a chance but if I change forms too quickly between my attacks, it should do the job……………… Hopefully.)

“Such an ugly armour, God.”

He let out a defeated sigh.

“Coming from someone like you… I feel defeated.”

(I have upgraded the Ion armour recently. It should withstand at least a punch from him.)

And so the beast threw a fist towards him.

(Perfect!)

Instead of dogging it, Nazar swung his fist too.

As their fists clashed, Nazar felt pain as his arm broke to pieces.

“Hrm?”

But instead of crying out in pain, he smiled.

“Got you.”

The nanite-based armour left Nazar and covered the beast.

Nazar changed his form.

Coming back to his energy form, he dispersed into light as he became one with armour.

(This armour cannot be overloaded easily. I have designed it so that it can contain energies of dozens of angels. But!)

“Overload!”

(I hate to admit it, but I am not dozens of angels.)

His form changed once more as he separated from the armour. Nazar was back in his normal form.

The beast, who was inside the armour, struggled to release himself or steal Nazar’s energies.

(I better put up a barrier around us or else the damage will be… Well, not good at all. Could destroy the whole solar system and beyond.)

Nazar jumped back as he placed a massive barrier around himself and the beast - who was still struggling to get out of this annoying armour.

The beast tried to rip it apart but it would come together immediately.

“Now!”

The armour wobbled a little before it exploded.

All the energies inside the armour were redirected at the beast.

Manipulating the explosion, Nazar made sure to maximise its effect by sending everything at the beast, including the shockwave.

"If that kills you, then I will be disappointed. But I hope it does."

Waving his hand, the air cleared and he narrowed his eyes.

(That was… easy.)

Though the beast was dead - reduced to ashes - Nazar felt some form of uneasiness.

(Sure, he died. That power would have been too much for anyone. But this one… He is different. I don't know how to explain it, but he shouldn't have died.)

He tried to look for any signs of the beast but did not find anything.

(I need to take this fight somewhere else-- That's not going to work, is it? This thing knows where my weakness lies. So, of course, he will try to stay here. But how am--!!)

Suddenly, in front of him, a white light appeared and the God Eater was revived.

Nazar’s shoulders drooped.

“You cannot kill me, God. Nothing can. I am designed that way.”

“Right...”

"Now give me your power and let's end this futile battle."

Nazar sucked in a breath as a beam of light shone on him from the sky.

Another armour covered him.

The armour looked similar to mere clothes but this was more powerful than the previous models.

“One second...”

He tapped the back of his hand and a small screen appeared in front of him.

Tapping the screen a few times, a massive beam of light shot towards the God Eater and incinerated him into ashes.

“It should take this thing a second or two to come back.”

(“Solace?”)

(“I know.”)

(“So… Why are not helping me?”)

(“I am coming up with solutions. I need more data, though. So, please kill him a few times.”)

White light shone again and the God Eater was back.

(“Okay.”)

(“Oh and the energy that brings him back-- No, it’s not bringing him back. It’s a new one. The old one is dead. But it also does not make sense. Everything is the same as the old one.”)

(“Um.............. What?”)

(“I do not know either. Anyway, that white energy vanishes around the edge of the solar system. I can’t track it, so I will forget about that and find a way to stop a "new" God Eater from coming out.”)

(“Good.”)

Nazar looked at the beast. He looked the same but something was different. He was weaker than an ant. Checking the mind of the beast, Nazar found out that his intelligence was below that of a newborn.

(Attacking he will only make this worse for me.)

Nazar scratched the back of his head as he tried to come up with a solution.

(He won’t attack me. I don't think he knows how to attack. Heck, this beast cannot even comprehend what his orders say. So, if I attack him, I will just be provoking him and he will steal my energy. His earlier version had traces of Quantum Realm and some of Reaper’s intelligence… He also knew that I was a-- So, if I am getting this correctly, he can also steal intelligence. The last thing this universe need is this shit head getting my powers and intelligence.)

The beast stared at Nazar as he thought.

(Just by stealing my powers, this thing could destroy the Multiverse with a wave of his hand. And add my intelligence… Well, it’s bye-bye everything. More than just this existence-- ultraverse.)

“Grr… Hrr...”

The beast looked around impatiently.

“How do I kill you without killing you?”

As expected, dozens of question marks appeared around this beast’s head.

“Oh wait, you don’t even understand what I am saying… Right?”

Nazar stood there for many minutes, trying to come up with a solution. He tried sending the beast away but it did not work.

So, gave up.

Nazar’s finger twitched and the beast was unmade.

He unmade the beast molecule by molecule. There was nothing left of him.

But with another white light, Nazar frowned.

“Give me a break...”

Nazar swept his hand and an island appeared beneath them.

As the beast’s feet touch the ground, two rocks were thrown from his left and right side, crushing him like a bug.

(“Found anything, Solace?”)

(“I have come across a few million answers but with every death, the number of answers decreases significantly.”)

(“We are not getting close to the exact answer any time soon.”)

(“Mm-hmm. So, please kill him as many times as you can.”)

(“Got it!”)

He clenched his fist.

But he soon lost that determination after about ten minutes.

He killed the beast many times over but he would come back almost immediately.

(“Anything, Solace?”)

(“No… All the answers are wrong. Every single possibility is wrong. This thing...”)

She hesitated to continue but Nazar smiled.

(“Is currently as unkillable as it gets.”)

(“Well...”)

(“I know.”)

Nazar sucked in a breath as he started to slowly fly away.

(“I will just leave him here for now and come up with some solutions. I am getting bored of this. I don’t think he will-- What?”)

The beast leapt upwards and held Nazar’s leg.

“You barely had any powers… You couldn’t react to--- What the hell happened?”

The beast slammed Nazar into the ground.

“His powers increased significantly--- !!”

Nazar thought as he was slammed into this island.

(“He seems to have retained his powers from the previous-- Wait, I don’t think this is a new one. It’s not revival either.”)

("Can it be...?")

("Do you have any ideas?")

(“Time.”)

Nazar stood up.

(“I have the scanners open in front of me. My own, yours and the spaceships… I don’t see any chronological energies, Nazar.”)

(“Heh. Look closely.”)

(“Still don’t see anything.”)

The beast threw a large boulder towards Nazar.

(“Okay, then let’s try this. If this works, then I am wrong. If not then... Oh well.”)

Before it reached Nazar, the boulder disintegrated into nothing.

Nazar stared at the beast.

(“If I erase him from existence - from time, space, reality, memories of people, destroy its soul - then you will be correct. But if it doesn’t work, I am correct.”)

(“Ummmmmm...”)

Nazar held his hand towards the beast.

As a while light shot from the palm of his hand, the beast vanished.

(“Oh, I guess I was wrong...”)

Nazar let out a heavy sigh.

(“So, what was your idea anyway?”)

(“I was thinking that this being is from outside of our existence. Which means that most reality and time-based attacks will be useless against him.”)

(“I get that. But what is this about time? And how does this thing coming back fit into all of this?”)

The corner of his lips curled up and formed a smile.

(“Before he dies, he goes through time. Its existence resets at 0. But he retains only the things which will help him win. So, he can make itself appear as weak as an ant to deceive its enemies.”)

("Hm, I am still--")

("I see you have figured it out, God.")

Between their conversation, someone else butted in. The beast hijacked their telepathic conversation.

("You are God for nothing.")

Nazar gritted his teeth.

"I am done holding back."

(I can't take him to another dimension and I cannot let loose on this world. So...)

(It’s my turn.)

His form slowly started to change as he heard a voice in his head.

(I assure you, I will not hurt anyone. Except for this beast, of course.)

(Yeah, go ahead. I will leave everything to you until I figure something out from the back seat.)

The voice in his head slowly vanished as scars appeared around his body.

(But of course, my powers are still limited.)

He sucked in a breath.

(Copy and paste!)

His eyes lit up with blue energy.

A beam of light shot the God Eater and he died.

(Less than a second to...)

Immediately after, the beast was back.

But Nazar had done what he wanted to do.

He will let loose and the world will not be damaged.

"Let's go, beast!"

Punching his right fist into the palm of his left hand, Nazar smiled a thin emotionless smile.

"Just so you know, I don't lose."

“Me neither, God.”

And so, the two monsters shot themselves towards each other.

Above the planet, in a large spaceship, Solace looked closely at the screens.

In front of her, dozens of screens were floating. She was looking at data.

While analysing the beast, Solace also searching the entire universe for any signs of this beast.

Among the many screens, one was showing the battle between Nazar and God Eater.

“Hmmm.”

But she opened her eyes slightly when Nazar changed his form.

“He created another layer above the solace system. It is exactly like our solar system but there won’t be any damage to the real world. I see. I forgot how creative this bastard is sometimes.”

She was still looking for an answer. Solace had not accepted Nazar’s answer that this beast’s body reverses to zero.

“This beast… The God Eater.”

While she was analysing, she found something interesting about the beast.

“He is hidden from the view of higher beings, huh? No wonder Nazar did not notice him earlier. Interesting.”

Solace let out a small sigh as the screens in front of her turned off.

“I guess I will help him out. There is nothing else to do up here."

Bradley Island:

"What do you think he is doing now?"

Laura was bombarded with questions about Nazar.

"Can he die?"

"What…? How old is he?!?!"

"When did he get his powers?"

"Is he alien?"

"SHUT UP!!!" Laura shouted out. "One at a time, please?"

"Yeah, sorry…"

They became quite.

Laura exhaled deeply.

"Why don't you ask him that?"

"Well…"

They all averted their gazes.

"I guess, it can be scary at first but trust me, he is not as scary as he looks."

She looked at Chris then Harry.

"He is your friend, right?"

"..."

"..."

Due to some conflicted feelings, they did not say yes. But also did not deny it.

"What kind of person was he when he was young? What kind of person is he now? How does he act when he is around you? What do you do when you are together?"

"We usually just read, play or watch something," Chris said. "That's what we have been doing for years."

"As for how he was… Well, he was annoying. Trying to be this edgy idiot. Had trouble communicating at times. Or pretending to not care about anything.”

“But he did care,” Chris added.

“Exactly like that, but with powers,” Laura said with a smile. “As I said earlier, it can be scary at first but maybe give him a chance?”

“Yeah… But did you not hear what he said? Human lives don’t matter to him.”

“I can’t believe I am saying this...” she sighed heavily.

She looked at them with a serious look in her eyes.

“Can you blame him?”

“!!”

An alarmed expression appeared on their face.

“No, really. Can you?”

They exchanged glances.

“I am not sure if you were alive in that other… ”world” but it wasn’t half as good as this one. It was far darker than you would expect. I mean, a fucking demon was ruling the world.”

Their eyes widened in surprise.

“Wait, what?”

“When he was a child, that demon took control of Nazar’s parents and experimented on him. Which also included torture. That demon used his parents to do horrible things to this newborn child.”

In the original timeline, Chris, Harry, Rebecca and Ashley did not know Nazar, so it makes sense that they did not know about his childhood.

“For most of his life there, he did not have emotions. So, that’s one of the reasons he doesn’t care about life.”

“...”

“I remember how he died thousands of times in front of me. Then he was killed again and again by his own creator. Imagine the worst ways to die… He has experienced all of them. Every single one.”

They had no idea how to respond to that.

“Anyway, just ask him for the rest. If you are interested, that is.”

The room then fell silent for a short while.

“Just talk to him. He isn’t going to eat you...”

Laura looked away nervously.

“I think.”

“That’s not very encouraging, Laura,” Rebecca said with a stiff smile.

“Sorry.”

Laura stood up and smiled.

“Ask him all those questions when he comes back. I am sure he will answer them in a heartbeat.”

“But--”

She held up her index finger, stopping Harry.

“I know it looks like I am making excuses for him, but take his circumstances into account too.”

“Okay.”

Will they get a chance to ask the questions they want?
