Chapter 82 - Arc 11 - The God/dess and the Mortal - Part 4
While Nazar and Laura went around London city, Emily was sitting in a high-end restaurant in Beijing. She was on a date with some guy.
As she was enjoying her date, something happened, so she frowned.
Time had stopped.
Outside of her window, a beautiful red-haired and blue eyes busty and muscular woman was floating.
“Nazar’s pet… What brings you here?”
Emily stood up and looked at Solace through the glass.
“Also, can you guys stop stopping time? You know you can just tal--”
“I don’t care about that, Emily.”
Her cold tone sent chills down Emily’s body.
“So?”
“Don’t mess around with Nazar anymore.”
Emily laughed.
“Who are you to tell--”
“Mess around with him again and...”
Solace smiled thinly.
Seeing the cold and evil look with a hint of killing intent, Emily gulped subliminally.
“I will kill everyone you care about. I will make sure they suffer and suffer and suffer. I will make sure you get to see all of them.”
Emily clenched her fist.
“We both know I will do it. I will do it. In order to protect my master, I will do anything. Destroy worlds. Universes, even. And more.”
“Why, you--”
“Keep your voice low, second hand.”
Emily inhaled sharply.
“Just so you know, I can also kill you. Your immunity is to my master’s powers, not me. I can kill you where you stand.”
“You dare threaten me? I, who could---”
“Blah blah blah.”
The glass between them broke, so Emily took a step back.
Her body moved without her knowing.
“Just stay away from him…”
Solace shook her head.
“You are more than welcome to meet him once in a while… But try to mess around with him - physically or mentally or emotionally… Then you will know my wrath!”
“I--”
“Don’t!”
He cold tone made Emily freeze.
“Don’t bother. Now sit down before he notices something. If he does, I might have to kill him.”
With a face full of fear and surprise and horror, Emily took a step back.
“I will start time once you sit down, okay?”
Seeing that gentle and wide smile on her face suddenly made her body shudder.
“Enjoy the rest of your date☆,” Solace said as she made a cute expression.
Emily sat back on her chair with a lot of negative feelings swirling up within her.
“Oh, and don’t let others know about your power. It will not end well, second hand.”
And so, her cold tone once more appeared, confusing Emily’s emotions even more.
Time started to move once more.
On the surface, Emily pretended as if nothing happened, but deep down, she livid. But also scared and horrified.

Away from them, Nazar and Laura were strolling the city late at night.
Most of the streets were empty.
“I never hung out this late at night before. And haven’t drunk this much and haven’t passed out.”
“Well, it’s basically 3 in the morning.”
“Yeah, yeah. Same thing.”
“Let me ask a question.”
“As long as you don’t ask me to strip here.”
“Nah, of course, not.”
In the empty street, under the dim street lights, they spoke quietly.
"Hey, Laura…"
Seeing the serious look on his face, she wondered what he was going to say.
"If I didn't have powers, what would have happened?"
She thought about her answer before talking.
"I would have been sad. And you too. But long-distance relationships are…. So, I don't know, these would have been the last few days."

"Ah…"
Nazar went close to her and picked her up.
"Then I am glad I have these powers."
“Oh no… Not again.”
Though she said that, she looked excited.
As gravity vanished beneath them, Nazar flew up with Laura in his arms.
Flying towards the dark space, Nazar heard Laura’s heart beat faster and faster because of excitement.
“You know what, if you ever make a mistake, just apologise with something like this,” she said half-jokingly.
“You sure?”
“No,” she replied immediately.
“You know I had a super cringe thing I wanted to say buutttttt...”
“Wait! Don’t tell me you were going to say, “I am going to show you”--”
“Nope!” Nazar said as he smiled nervously.
“I am so glad you didn’t. I probably would have thrown up.”
They laughed.
After a few seconds, above the Earth’s orbit, Nazar placed a barrier around them, so Laura could stand by herself in space.
“Wow!”
“Yep."
"As much as I love this… Why did you bring me here?"
"Because the view from here is beautiful," Nazar said as he shrugged.
"Hm, that I agree with."
"I like showing people Earth from this angle. It's just gorgeous and I think everyone should see it. The perfect blend of light and darkness… It's one of the best views I have ever come across."
“Uh, really?”
“Mm-hmm. But you can get much better from the moon. Do you want to go there?”
“No,” she replied immediately. “I think it’s a little too early.”
“Fair enough.”
Nazar looked up towards the dark space.
“Then what about...”
“Hm?”
Laura turned around.
Following his line of sight, she looked up.
“That’s… It’s aliens!!!”
“No, it’s my spaceship.”
“Oh okay.”
The excited yet fearful expression from earlier vanished and was replaced by a blank one.
Nazar frowned.
“I mean, this is exciting… but not as exciting as seeing as an alien invasion.”
“Sometimes I feel like you have a few screws loose in your head.”
Nazar waved his hand and both of them vanished into thin air.
Appearing at the centre of the massive space, Laura looked around excitedly - despite having a blank look on her face earlier on.
At the centre of this spaceship was a circular command room with a chair that might as well be a throne. Inside this room, there were a lot of computer screens. There were many doors leading to different places on the ship.
“This is the spaceship’s command centre. Cool, right?”
“Sure. But there are too many screens so… I don’t know, kind of cramped?”
“I see where you are coming from.”
“Oh dear, I did not expect you to be here so soon,” said a voice that entered the command room from one of the doors.
“Oh, hi Solace---What the fuck?”
"Oh, master, you brought another girl home? I don't know...three is a crowd," Solace said as she twiddled her fingers.
“What’s with that... That’s a cool outfit, not gonna lie.”
“Would you like dinner first, dear? Or a bath? Or...”
Solace, with a seductive look in her eyes and beet-red face - which she made by manipulating the light around here, moved her hips from side to side as she talked shyly.
She was holding a wooden spatula in her one hand.
“Me☆?”
“Wh-wh-wh-wh-wh-wha-wha-wha-what?!”
Laura moved frantically and covered Nazar’s eyes with her hands.
“What the hell are you doing, Solace? And what’s the naked apron?”

“Uh… I can see through your hand, you know that, right?”
“Shut up, Nazar!”
“Okay.”
“And you Solace… What is this? What are you-- What did I just walk into?”
“Gehehe. I am shy,” she said as she giggled.
Laura made a disgusted expression.
Solace sighed as she threw away the spatula.
“I guess it didn’t work.”
Her usual armour appeared around her.
It’s a thin layer of black armour on top of her skin that covered the entirety of her body - except for her head.
“Nah, it worked perfectly. I think this was your best prank so far. Too bad I couldn’t see it because of some jealous person.”
“Anyone would be weirded out by this scene?!?!”
“Fair enough.”
Laura removed her hand from Nazar’s face.
“I sensed you guys coming so I had to prepare a special show.”
Laura sighed.
“What do you guys do when no one is watching?”
“Oh...”
Solace, now standing behind Nazar licked his ear.
“A lot worse.”
She winked at Laura, so she made a disgusted expression.
“Solace.”
Hearing Nazar’s serious tone, she sighed.
“Fine. I will leave you guys be for now.”
And just like that, she vanished into thin air, leaving Nazar and Laura.
Due to the somewhat awkward environment, Solace had created, Nazar looked around nervously.
Seeing that, Laura let out a small sigh and asked a question.
“So, what was that about?”
“Solace does that often in front of other people. To see how much she can embarrass me.”
“Why?”
“Because it’s fun.”
She frowned.
“You guys have fun in the weirdest ways.”
“Let’s leave that aside, let me show you this place.”
“Hopefully I don’t see something like that.”
Nazar laughed.
“Of course not.”
လလလ
Many hours later, inside one of the rooms, Nazar was lying down on the floor and playing a video game on the Nintendo 3DS, when Laura woke up.
“Mornin’...”
She yawned as she scratched her head.
“Technically, it’s afternoon.”
“Oh… What are you doing?”
“Playing Mario Kart.”
“Never played it.”
“Did you know that Mario is also--”
She picked up a pillow and threw it at him.
“Don’t say it, you raci-- It’s not really racist, to be honest.”
"It isn't."
"Shut up and drink your tea…. Nevermind, that's not even an insult. And you aren't even proper British."
Nazar laughed as Laura sighed.
"Hey…"
Laura looked down at her clothes.
"What happened to my clothes?"
"I changed it."
"You did what?!"
She threw another pillow at him.
"Ow. I can change it with just a thought."
"What else did you do?"
"Nothing."
"For some reasons, I am disappointed…"
Gravity beneath his body was removed, so his body lifted up.
"Stop sleeping while floating… Ahh, whatever. You are pissing me off."
"What have I done?"
Playing his game, he didn't even look at her once.
"I mean, you meet your girlfriend after 10 years and the only thing you do is kiss me?! I don't know, I would have done more."
Nazar told her about how he was gone for 10 years.
"Like hold hands?"
"..........."
Laura sighed.
"I don't know what I was expecting from you…"
"Disappointing people? That's my everyday life."
She frowned.
"Anyway, what do you think of my gorgeous spaceship?"
"It's so and so."
Nazar looked at her on reflex.
"This is one of the most powerful spaceships in the whole universe. Capable of faster than light speed. Capable of great destruction. And so much more."
"So?"
Seeing the blank look on her face, Nazar frowned.
"Anyway, forget that…"
Seeing the nervous look on her face, he found himself confused.
"What about your parents? Are they the same as they were in the other timeline?"
Nazar let go of his gaming console, which started to float above him.
"They are nice. Good. Loving. Complete opposite of what I knew about them."
"Oh, that's good then. But why the long face?"
"Well… My father is dead."
Her eyes widened.
"Oh, I am sorry for your loss.."
He wasn't sure how to respond to that.
"Thank you?"
He laughed bitterly as he stared at the ceiling above.
"Not to be that person but was keeping your powers secret more important than his life?"
"I wanted to save him. I wish I could. But I only found out recently. I found out about it when I was thrown into the other planet. 10 years ago for me and just a few days ago for you."
Nazar bit his lip in anger.
"He died years ago. But I found out about it just recently."
"Ah…"
Laura was not sure how to react to that.
She wondered, why would it take someone this long to figure out their father is dead.
Then they fell silent for a short while.
"But why not resurrect him?"
Still staring at the ceiling, he said, "I can bring his soul back or recreate it as it was… but I don't think he or anyone would appreciate that."
"Oh…"
"Plus since it's been too long, his soul will not be the same. It will be broken. Remember Aria?"
"I see…"
Nazar sighed and stood up.
“I have been wondering, what about your parents in this world?”
“Oh… Ah. Well, um, they are not dead, haha.”
In the original timeline, Laura’s parents were killed by the demon and brought back as undead.
“They are the way I remembered them at a young age. Kind and loving. And happy. And actually care about us.”
“Ah, that’s good to hear.”
Nazar felt relieved at hearing that. In the original timeline, he was somewhat responsible for their death. So, he is happy that they are alive in this world.
“You know, for a long time, I wondered if I did the right thing by changing things here. I wondered if I did the right thing by making this new timeline. It’s very different from the other one we know.”
He smiled at her.
“But I think I did the right thing by changing things and making this new timeline. I wasn’t sure about it until now.”
“Can I ask a question?” she asked nervously.
“Please do.”
“Why?”
With a confused look on his face, he tilted his head.
“Why did you wait for this long to spend more time with your family and friends?”
“Ah.”
Nazar looked down as he continued.
“It wasn’t going to be any different if Emma was not taken over that cult. If it was not for her, I would have not cared about anything. And would probably have kept my distance.”
He bit his lip in anger.
“I wish I could change it. But it wasn’t………………… Yeah, no. I am done making up excuses.”
He looked at her in the eyes.
“I hate to admit it but I just didn’t care.”
He shook his head.
“I did. I did care. I thought keeping all of you away was the only way to keep them safe. My thinking was too naive. I did not want any of you to attract the attention of some demons or angels who could destroy universes without lifting a finger. Or worse.”
Nazar swallowed his saliva.
“Getting the attention of the Supreme One or the Nameless One. If I pretended I didn’t care about any of you, it would have……………. It would have kept you all safe.”
“And you think differently now?”
Nazar nodded.
“The best way for me to keep all of you safe is by being with you here. If I am close, I can keep all of you safe.”
He clenched his fist as he remembers the hopeless situation on planet Eir.
“No, I cannot keep any of you safe. But… But...”
He scratched his head furiously as he tried to come up with something to say.
Seeing the blood spurt from his head, Laura inhaled sharply as she got up from her bed.
“Nazar?”
“But… There… What is...”
The fear and horror on his face were apparent now.
“Why? Why…?”
Strength left his body as he fell to his knees.
He wasn’t sure how to feel about any of this. He wasn’t sure what he really wanted to do about those close to him.
He is a God who reached a status far above anyone else. He held omnipotence in the palm of his hands.
Even now, he can recall all that power. He can reach that state again with just a word. But he doesn’t want to throw away his humanity - or what is left of it. He doesn’t want to lose his family again. Or his friends.
Not being able to control his emotion, he let it all out.
“Why…?” His eyes welled up. “Why couldn’t I save them?”
Laura rushed to his side.
“Can I even save you? Any of you for that matter when the time comes? I don’t stand a chance against her…?”
She hugged him tightly.
“Why me...? Why was I given this much power if I...? If I…. If I can even save……... WHY?!”
And so, that powerless God cried in the arms of a human helplessly.
