Chapter 80

Arc 11 - The God/dess and the Mortal - Part 2

Nazar was sitting on the surface of the moon and thinking when he suddenly heard gunshots in the Middle East.

He has been thinking about all that happened.

Finding out about the death of his father and having an entire planet being slaughtered just to mess around with him.

He never cared about the lives of humans or aliens. He never cared about whether they died or not. He killed people as if they were nothing.

But right now, with a worried look on his face, he flew towards the Middle East.

(Why do I want to save them…?) He thought to himself. (I have been hearing gunshots, bombs blowing up, planes crashing, cars crashing… I have been hearing it all. I didn’t care. So why…?)

He bit his lip.

He didn’t understand what he was doing right now.

(Why did I fly towards it instinctively? Why do I want to save them? They are nobody… They are...)

He shook his head.

(Shut up for now… Think about what’s happening right now.)

He took a deep breath.

(The distance between the targets and the shooters is 10 meters. The number of bullets shot is 125. The speed at which it is travelling is 1300 m/s. I can make it.)

With newfound determination, he increased his speed.

What could only be considered an instant, he reached where the scene of the crime.

It was an old building. It was a disguise used by terrorists to hide their true base.

Collecting all bullets in mid-air before it reached its targets, Nazar slowed down and exhaled sharply.

As he swept his hand, all the victims were transported outside the building.

Nazar clenched his fist.

“Die!”

He moved at supersonic speed and threw a punch towards one of the shooters.

However.

Before his punch went through the shooter’s chest, he stopped, breathing heavily and with a horrific look in his eyes.

The image of his father, Rina and Aram and others flashed through his mind.

The crunching noise of their bones being crushed, their screams which shouldn't have been heard but the Queen made sure he did, their helplessness, the horror in their eyes, their blood painting the world red, and them shouting to Nazar save them but he couldn't.

His heart started beating faster and faster and he struggled to breathe.

They were normal humans too. They were humans in front of him.

Fragile creatures with a small beating heart and bones that are weaker than glass.

With just a punch, he can crush them into small pieces. Their blood will paint this old hideout red. Their guts and bones being thrown around the place.

It’s all so easy.

But.

He instead flicked him in the chest and the shooter was thrown away. He was harmed, but still alive.

Waving his hand, all of the shooters found themselves unconscious.

He looked down at his hand and noticed that it was shaking.

(Is this going to happen often…?)

He took a few deep breaths and calmed his body.

(I could…)

He could turn off his emotions but deep down, he thought that is the easy way out. He has been doing this for years-- for centuries but he doesn't want to do that anymore.

When it comes to his feelings, he won't take the easy way out. At least not anymore.

(I wonder… What would the world have been like if I helped them? If I solved all their problems--- Oh.)

“Oh, that’s new.”

“Been a while, Aarin.”

Turning around, he looked at the angel floating above him and smiled.

Aarin, unlike usual, did not have her wings to support her.

“So… You found out, huh?” Aarin said as she looked down.

“Yeah… I wish I had noticed earlier.”

“Sorry for not telling you about it.”

“No,” Nazar shook his head. “It’s not your fault. It’s my fault. I should have not rejected everything… It just pisses me off that it had to be her who told me.”

“Hm? Who?”

Seeing the curious look in her eyes, Nazar averted his gaze and said, “Nevermind. What brings you here?”

“Well, Anaiel told me what happened so I came here… Why is he back? Why have you still not gotten rid of that monster?”

“He is needed.”

“Is he?”

She sounded angry.

“I am sorry Aarin but I need everything in my arsenal. And with his skills, I think I might have a chance. If it wasn’t for him, I would have been stuck there.”

Aarin clicked her tongue.

“Then what are we here for? The angels? The Gods? Eddie? Your other friends? Was that--”

“You are not some toys for me to use. I am-- Look, Aarin. I know what I am doing. I swear I do. For once... I won’t let any of you get hurt because of me.”

“Wait, what are you talking about?”

“I told you about her before but I can't go into details. Even if I told you… Even if I told anyone, they won’t be able to hear it or understand what I am saying. But just so you know, someone is messing around with me.”

“...”

“So, please… Just be careful out there,” he said with a gentle yet sad smile. "And stay away from any trouble. Don't rush to it head-on. Even if I am dying, don't come to save me. Please?"

She landed on the ground and stood in front of him.

"No."

Nazar sucked in a breathe.

"What… Why?"

"Because I am not going to leave you in trouble. Plus…"

She smiled.

"I am not the same as I was before."

She winked.

"Hm, there is something different about you… But I can't seem to figure it out. Can you tell me?"

She shook her head.

Raising her index finger to her mouth, she said, "A girl gotta keep her secrets."

Nazar stared at her blankly.

"That "cute" acting is not fitting. At all."

She hung her shoulders low.

"Yeah, I noticed."

Nazar laughed.

"Shut up! I am trying, okay?" She said as she crossed her arms in front of her chest and puffed her cheeks.

"No, but seriously what--"

"No, no, no. I won't say it. It's a secret."

Nazar frowned.

"Well, whatever. Let's forget that. Now onto a real problem…"

"Hm?"

"Why are your clothes so dirty?"

Nazar looked down at his black jeans and black shirt and noticed that had turned grey now.

"Oh… I forgot that I lost my clothes in the other place. Well, I have a spare at home."

"Ah."

Aarin loosened her arms and smiled widely.

"Let's go shopping."

Confused, he tilted his head.

"...Why?"

"Because you asked me last time?"

Nazar thought about it.

A long time ago (for him), he asked her to go shopping with her.

"Oh…"

"So, let's go today. You will be going there for 20 days, right?"

He nodded.

"So, let's get you some new clothes."

She knew Nazar was going to refute, so she put up her palm, stopping him.

"Nope. Your nanite based clothes… Or should I say armour?"

"Either work."

"It's very lazy. First thing first, you need to be like a sensible adult. Wear new and stylish clothes. Wash them. Iron them. Then wear them again until they become old."

"Right…"

Nazar knows that Aarin doesn't take her own advice either.

"Got it?"

"Yes, madam. But you should take your own advice."

“Hm.”

She smiled.

"Now then, let's go and buy you some clothes."

"Wh--"

"You are right anyway. So, let's go. Buy some for me too, okay?"

Nazar sighed.

"You got it, sis," with his shoulders hung low.

Aarin froze in her place.

"What?"

She smiled.

"Nothing."

A long time ago, she asked Nazar to refer to her as sister or 'sis' but he never said it. So, now that he did, it made Aarin happy.

"Let's go."

As the space warped around them, they found themselves on the other side of the world.

Away from the dry deserts of the Middle East, in a lively and noisy city of London.

"So, what do you want to get?"

"Hm."

Aarin thought about her answer.

"How much are you willing to pay?"

"As much as you need. Millions, even if you want."

Aarin shook her hand.

"Nope. Not that much. You should be spending that much on Laura instead. Get her something nice."

"Errr."

"You have no sense of romance."

Nazar smiled stiffly.

"I don't want to hear that from a million years old woman who has never been in a relationship before."

Those words stabbed her in the deepest parts of her heart.

"Why are you so mean?"

Nazar laughed.

"Fine. I will take your advice."

"Yay!"

"But you are still a million years old woman with zero relationship experience."

"Billions... Wait--"

"Too late."

She elbowed him in the stomach.

"Wait… Why are we here?"

"Oh, this is where your beloved works."

They were standing in front of a large shopping centre. When they appeared here, she had placed an illusion around so no one noticed something odd.

"Yeah, I know."

For some reasons, Nazar was very nervous to enter the shopping centre.

He wasn't sure why he was so nervous.

"You know, I think I should call her something cute too. Any suggestions?"

Aarin stared at him blankly for a good few seconds before cringing.

"You and cute don't go together."

Noticing what he said, his face flushed beet red.

"Ehehehe. Another embarrassing moment. Nice."

"N-no. F-forget about it. Please!"

"No."

Seeing the serious look on her face, he sighed heavily.

"You really need to stop sighing so often."

"I know..."

They started to enter the shopping centre.

“Okay, so why don’t you call her sweetie?”

Nazar shook his head.

“Babe?”

“Too cliche,” he said as he laughed.

“Everything about is cliche. So… Oh, that shop.”

Walking inside the shopping centre, Aarin stopped a jewellery shop.

“Get Laura a necklace?”

“Too basic.”

“Then…?”

Aarin thought about it as she looked around the shops.

“Clothes?”

“I gave her one of my nanite based clothes. She can wear anything she wants to.”

Aarin hung her shoulders low.

“Flowers?”

“Useless.”

“Chocolate?”

“Ehh?”

“Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…… I got nothing else.”

“That’s what I thought.”

She frowned.

“Well, forget about that for now - since both of us are practically useless - tell me, what do you want?”

“I want to try some human clothes.”

“You lived here for 15,000 years, didn’t you?”

“I did. But I only wore my white dress.”

Nazar sighed heavily.

“Okay, let’s get you some human clothes. Just don’t get anything slutty.”

With her cheeks twitching stiffly, she kicked him in the back of his knee.

“For now, a “human” kick would do. As soon as we are out of this city, I will rip apart your head.”

“Hehe. That got on your nerves.”

“I fucking hate you!”

Nazar’s eyes widened as he froze momentarily.

“Did you just…?”

“What?”

“An angel swearing… The end is coming.”

Aarin noticed what she had said, so she covered her mouth.

“Oh shit-- Oops.”

“Haha, it’s okay. The old rules no longer apply, remember?”

She let out a sigh of relief.

“I remember in the past, angels who would use foul language would get punished by sending us to hell of our own.”

“The Supreme One was fucking weird. That dude made you guys kill but not allow you to use foul language?”

“I know, right?”

They entered a clothing shop.

It was a two-floor shop in the shopping centre. The ground floor of the store had women clothing.

“That green dress looks nice.”

It was a summer dress with a lot of different flowers.

“Boring.”

“Ugh. Fine what about that purple dress.”

“As an old woman, it’s not fit for you.”

“I look younger than most of these “young” woman, you… You idiot!”

“You could have just said shithead,” he said as he shrugged.

The blank look on his face and the quick replies annoyed Aarin a lot.

“Okay, what about that dark red dress.”

“Oh, that’s a beautiful one.”

Aarin looked closely at the dress in the store and Nazar looked at the clothes next to it.

“There is this dark blue one too.”

“Why are they all dark? Am I going to a funeral?!”

Nazar laughed.

“Wellllll, either way, just get whatever dress you want. I have a lot of money.”

“”I have a lot of money”,” she repeated his word while making a silly face.

“Just don’t get clothes that you won’t even wear. It’s my hard earned money.”

“................................. You didn’t work for it.”

“Good point.”

“One of these days---”

“Hi.”

Hearing a voice near them, they turned around and saw…

“Oh hi, Laura,” Aarin said.

Seeing Aarin, she felt guilty for thinking about something else, so she cursed herself in her heart.

So, she smiled stiffly.

But her smile soon vanished when she looked at Nazar who was staring at her.

"Hm? What's up with-- mph?"

Suddenly being kissed by Nazar on the lips, her heart skipped a beat.

In all their time together - including the original timeline - this was the first time Nazar took the initiative to kiss her or do anything similar.

Aarin looked at them with a blank look on her face.

Laura’s heart started to beat even faster and ignored the world around her.

If she had noticed it, she would have been pretty worried because right now...

“You didn’t have to stop time just for a kiss, you dork!”

Nazar moved his lips away from Laura’s and said, “Okay, grandma.”

His hand moved and Aarin was also frozen in time.

“Now then...”

He looked at Laura, whose heart was moving faster than a train and beating louder than thunder.

Noticing the face which had a lot of confusion, happiness and other emotions, Nazar smiled.

“I love you.”

Laura just stared at him, not knowing how to reply.

“Okay, that’s it. I am restoring time,” Aarin said as she broke free of the frozen time.

Nazar sighed as he looked at her.

“I will do it, don’t worry.”

Nazar waved his hand and time was back to normal.

“Can we…?”

Laura said slowly as she looked down.

“Can we talk tonight?”

Nazar tilted his head in a confused manner.

Aarin seemed worried for a second.

“Sure,” he replied in a carefree manner, which annoyed Aarin.

Away from them, on the other side of the planet, Emily clenched her fist in anger.

“I swear to god, I will kill you one of these days. Stop stopping time, YOU FUCKING MORON!!!!!”

It seems Emily was reaching her limits.
