Chapter 76 - Arc 10 - Final Planet - Part 7

Saturday 12th of June - Plymouth, UK - Earth:

Inside the lab, Aeron was sitting in his office behind a desk when Angela walked in.

“The first phase is finally done,” she said as she let out a sigh of relief. “I can’t believe we managed to open a doorway to another dimension.”

She sat opposite him in a chair.

“We reopened it a few minutes ago again and it’s still stable.”

“I see, that’s good.”

He slumped over the table.

“Someone will be coming to take care of the legal stuff today.”

He did not seem as excited as her.

“I thought you already took care of that?”

“I did. But that was before the experiment was a success. There is a lot of legal stuff to deal with now that we have opened it.”

“Well, the least you can do is be excited,” she said half-jokingly.

He raised his head.

“I am. This is a dream come true. But I am worried about the legal stuff. Remember the shenanigans from last time? I would hate for it to take that long.”

“I guess that makes sense...”

She leaned back in the chair and relaxed.

“If it doesn’t go through, it would suck.”

“I know.”

“We spent so many sleepless nights and money and… And other things which I cannot remember.”

She laughed.

“Man, can you believe it? We actually managed to open it! A doorway to another dimension,” she said excitedly.

“Yeah, it’s hard to believe.”

“We had so many different expectations,” she said as she looked at Aeron. “Remember when we first decided that we will open a doorway to another dimension?”

He nodded.

“We thought we would get government funding and then there would be a press and whatnot. Funny story, I am glad none of them is around.”

“We should be glad your parents were rich.”

Aeron let out a long and heavy sigh.

“This is the first step for humanity.”

She cringed.

“You didn’t just say that. Please tell me I am mishearing stuff.”

Aeron laughed.

“Come on, this is the first step. Next, it will be space travel. But that’s not our problem.”

“True.”

He stood up.

“What would you do if there are legal problems? What if they don't approve it?”

She thought about it in a depressed manner.

“I don’t know… But I will definitely hate it.”

Standing behind her chair, he warped her arms around her.

“Or we can try again, no?”

Feeling his cheek next to hers, she smiled.

“Can we?”

“Mm-hmm.”

She kissed him on the cheek.

“Let’s hope for the better instead of the worse.”

He nodded.

“Or we can ask my good for nothing of a brother to change the laws.”

They both laughed.

“I don’t think he will like being used like that.”

“Fair.”

“Now that we are finally done, we can have some fun.”

“Oh?”

“We should go somewhere on holiday. What about--”

With alarmed expressions, they looked at each other.

“Was that…?”

“A growl?”

“That was a growl…? It sounded different?”

“Yeah...”

They quickly left the office.

Soon, they heard an alarm.

Looking at each other in horror, they did not want to think of the worst possible outcome.

“Could it be…?”

“Don’t say it, please.”

Running in the corridor where the lights were flashing, they reached the main lab.

All the scientists were leaving the place frantically.

“Wh-what is going on?”

Aeron gulped.

Entering the main lab, their eyes widened.

“Oh, shit!”

“This is the worst!”

In front of them was standing a large dark green beast who looked like a blob of meat with no legs. It was emitting a thin green-yellow glow.

“Oh, we are fucked...”

“I guess we might spend the holiday in a prison instead,” she tried to joke off this terrible environment.

The large beast was just standing and not moving.

“Aeron… We need to run before we die.”

“Yes… But the data… Did you guys at least back it up?”

She nodded.

He let out a sigh of relief.

“Okay, I guess we are starting over.”

“Yeah, well…"

"This is going to be fun," he said as he smiled.

"Wait, don’t tell me?!”

“I am sorry, babe, but it’s the only way.”

“Aeron!”

He took out his phone as they ran away.

“Ugh, are you kidding me? You want us to start over? From scratch?!?!”

“Well, we don’t want to die, do we?”

“That’s an interdimensional beast. I mean, first of all, it's a perfect specimen… Wait, where is Nazar? Why don’t you just call him and saves ussssss?!?!?!?!”

“I wish I knew.”

As they were running in the dimly lit corridor, the beast was following them very slowly.

Everything it touched got destroyed.

Angela looked back, as she saw that, she immediately turned around.

“Just call him… Nevermind. You guys are so useless.”

“Anyway, as soon as we are done, I will send this building to space.”

Aeron, from a young age, was always interested in space. Which is why he studied physics and astronomy.

When he first took over the laboratory, he remodelled it.

“Yes. I have built it so in emergencies, I can control it and throw the building into space using rockets. It also helps by increasing its gravity, then decreasing it. Kind of using gravity like a spring. Isn’t that cool?”

“Ugh.”

Unlike the excited Aeron, Angela just groaned.

“Then do it as soon as we are out.”

“Yes!”

The beast was moving behind them very slowly.

Since the lab was pretty large, Angela held Aeron’s hand and both of them teleported outside of it.

“Heh. Don’t think I wasn’t busy either.”

Sitting on the ground, he let out a deep breath.

Angela went back a few times to bring out the other people.

The beast was very slow so they had quite a bit of time to leave the building.

Once he saw everyone out, Aeron took a deep breath.

With his heart beating very fast, he tapped the button on his screen.

“This… This is exhilarating.”

The ground beneath them trembled as the building shook.

“It’s happening...”

Aeron tried to keep his excitement low but he couldn’t.

The building shook as the trembling in the ground increased.

After a few seconds, it shot up towards space like it was a rocket.

“YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! It worked!”

Angela rolled her eyes.

But she was also very relieved.

Aeron was looking at the sky excitedly that he forgot the worries of the people behind him.

The Aeron Labs was now miles above the ground.

Watching the blue sky, he soon noticed an explosion in the clear blue sky.

He felt excited but also sad that his laboratory is gone and so is his hard work.

Of course, they still have the data but it will take a while to achieve the same results.

Angela placed her hand on his shoulder.

Aeron glanced back.

“I hadn’t back up any data...”

“I see--”

His body jolted once he noticed what it was.

“WHAT DID YOU SAY?!”

She laughed.

“I am just kidding.”

She sat on the green grass and sighed heavily.

“Come on now...”

All the other people slowly started to leave in a frightened, depressed and angry manner.

Aeron sat next to her when everyone had left.

Aeron’s excitement had completely vanished by now.

Angela looked up to the sky.

“What a waste. Now that I think about, I need to ask Nazar to--”

Her eyes widened.

“What is that?”

She pointed towards the clear blue sky.

“What do-- Hm?”

Something dark could be seen in it.

“Wait, wait, wait...”

Landing next to them, a small crater appeared and dust covered the whole place.

They couldn’t even react to it.

The beast was much faster than before.

“N-O… H-U-R-T…"

“Aeron...”

“I think we might be spending the holiday in hell instead.”

Both of them gulped.

They could not do anything against this thing.

Nazar was nowhere to be seen and the building being thrown into space didn’t work either.

So.

They tried to get up but they didn’t have any strength in their legs.

“Wh-wha-what--”

“Emma and Aya aren’t here so I will just teleport us-- No...”

The beast shot itself towards them.

They closed their eyes, waiting for their death.

But!

KRAKABOOOM!!

Hearing a thunder, Angela opened her left eye slightly.

She saw a figure fighting the beast.

“Oh…?”

She slapped Aeron in the arm.

“Look!”

Both of them watched as a figure with blonde hair fighting the beast.

It was too fast but they did see lightning attacks and such.

“Is that Nazar…?”

"No, I don't think so."

After a short while, the fight was taken away from them.

Both of the figures vanished and went towards space.

“What the…?”

“Who was that?”

“Could it be… No… Ed… Whatever Emma mentioned yesterday.”

“Maybe,” she shrugged.

She looked at him and smiled.

“Well, we are saved, right?”

“I guess so...”

After a few minutes of staring at the messed up back of their house and the remains of the lab, someone landed before them.

He was a blonde guy with green eyes.

“Hey,” said Eddie as he landed near them. “I am called Norse God. But you can call me Eddie.”

““Hi…?””

Both Aeron and Angela said at the same time with confused looks on their faces.

“I remember you,” Eddie said with a wide smile on his face as he pointed at Aeron. “You tried to kill me in the original timeline.”

Aeron and Angela exchanged glances.

“It’s not what you think,” he said to her slowly.

Seeing that, Eddie laughed.

“You were so dark and moody and somewhat badass.”

“Badass? Him?” She said as she looked at Eddie and pointed towards Aeron with her index finger.

"And nearly killed me…"

Eddie trailed off as he noticed they were not listening to him.

“I can explain. Maybe later on," Aeron said to Angela.

“Either way, what the hell was that thing? In space?”

“Uh,” Aeron scratched the back of his head. “I can explain.”

Eddie frowned.

“Well, I hope we can have a little chat later on. Right now...”

He looked around.

“I guess I will call Nazar to fix your lab. He should be able to make an exact replica of it.”

“Oh?”

“Ah. And that thing, I couldn't take him down so I sent to him Nazar's dimension. I couldn't find his own so I sent him there. It's practically my trash can."

"Okay…"

They had no idea what had just happened.

"I am on my way now. Gotta go and help out the new super kids," he said, sounding bored. "Apparently I team then better than Nazar does."

Eddie seemed proud.

"Wait, how did you know about what was…"

"Happening here?"

Angela nodded.

"Well…"

He smiled widely.

"I was told to keep a close eye on you just in case if anything happened. So, that's what I was doing."

"Oh…"

The answer was not what they were looking for.

"Plus, I felt this "alien" energy and had to come in and check it out. Can't let innocent people get hurt, you know?"

"He is definitely a hero."

"Maybe Nazar should be like him."

"Agreed," Aeron said as he nodded.

“Aww, you guys are making me blush,” Eddie said with a blank look on his face.

Eddie flew away, leaving them behind.

A few hours later, Emma returned home only to find emergency services in front of her home.

“...What?”

As soon as she saw that, her heart skipped a beat in horror.

Running to her home frantically, the police tried to stop her but she ran past them as she shouted, “MOM?!”

Entering the house, everything seemed fine.

So, she made her way to the back of the house.

“MOM! What’s… wrong…?”

Her eyes widened when she saw something amiss.

Angela and Aeron were talking to the police.

They were also being checked for injuries.

Emma walked closer to her mother, who was leaning back against a wall and looking at her surroundings.

“What happened here? Where did that building go?”

“Oh, hi Emma,” Aya said as she turned her head and looked at Emma. “As for what happened...”

She took a deep breath.

“Remember how they opened a portal to another dimension yesterday?”

Emma nodded.

“Well, a monster came through it and--”

“WAH?!?!” Emma blurted out as her whole body shook in fear. “Wh-wh-where is t-t-t-t-t--”

“It’s okay. It’s gone now.”

Emma let out a long sigh of relief.

“So, where did it go?”

“Apparently, that guy known as Norse God took it away or something.”

“Oh… But that doesn’t explain where the building vanished to?”

Emma noticed that the building had vanished completely.

Even if it was destroyed, there should have been remains of it.

“It flew into space.”

“Oh okay…. Wait, what?”

Emma looked at her with a complex expression.

“Mom?”

Aya shrugged.

“Ask your brother.”

“How does a building fly into…. Where is Nazar?”

“Does he ever tell us where he is going? I mean he said he will be back soon yesterday but haven’t seen him since then.”

“Yeah….. So, what’s going to happen now?”

“I wish I knew. They should be all fine but the research and experiment… Well, they are out of our hands now. And I don’t think--”

BOOM!

Hearing a sonic boom, Emma looked up.

“What’s that…?”

“Finally,” Emma said as she smiled.

She knew who it was.

Something landed near them and the ground shook.

“Get out!”

Hearing Nazar’s voice, everyone left immediately.

As a massive bust of purple energy left him, the building had returned and no one ever seemed to remember anything about this accident, including the scientists.

“So, what happened here?”

“First of all, where the fuck were you?”

Hearing Emma’s question, he averted his gaze.

“In space. Dealing with some stuff.”

He tried his best to not show a happy smile on his face after seeing them. It has been many years since he saw them.

“Sorry.”

“What if someone had died?”

“I was talking to some Gods about something important… Well, Eddie did come here, didn’t he?”

“But--”

“Emma! Stop.”

Emma looked at Aeron.

“It’s not his fault. It’s not like we are the only ones in his life. Plus, as a king, he has a responsibility to more than just us, no?”

Nazar looked back at his brother.

“None of us got hurt. And we had some fun.”

Angela elbowed him in the stomach.

“Only you had fun… Kind of.”

Nazar’s eyes lit up with blue energy.

“Well, as a way to pay back for not being here, all legal stuff related to the experiment just went through.”

“Huh?”

Everyone looked at him.

“It wasn’t going to go through. But I fixed it now. Oh, and everything is restored. So, just hit the code and you should be fine. You will start off where you left off.”

“I see, thanks.”

“And of course, no one would remember this incident. So, continue doing your experiments.”

Nazar looked down at his palm.

“I am sorry about today. It won’t happen again.”

In his palm, a few small devices appeared.

“Here.”

A few devices flew towards them.

“Take it. It should notify me whenever any of you are in trouble.”

(I won’t let any of you get hurt anymore.) He thought to himself. (I have already placed a barrier around them but just in case of failure, I should be able to protect them.)

“I am sorry,” he said as he bit his lip. “I am sorry about...”

Trailing off, they looked at him with a confused look.

“Ah, nevermind.”

He forced a smile on his face.

“Anyway, dinner’s on me. Where should I bring food from?”

“No, you were going to say something.”

“Don’t worry about it. It’s not important. Now, let’s go and have dinner.”

“There is still time for dinner.”

Hearing Emma’s reply, he looked up and noticed it was still early.

“Well, dinner’s on me. Let me cook it today. Whatever you guys want.”

“Wait!”

“Hm?”

“You are not getting off this easily. You have to tell what you were going to say. And why you looked so happy earlier on.”

Nazar didn’t think they would notice.

“You can’t force me to say it.”

“Let’s play a game. If I win, you have to tell us. If you win, I will let out off.”

“Sure. But what game?”

Emma smiled thinly.

“Cooking.”

“Nobody can win from me when it comes to cooking,” he said with a blank look on his face.

“Nobody can win from me when it comes to cooking,” Emma made a silly face as she repeated his words in a ‘manly’ voice.

“You sure you are up for this?”

“Yes! Let’s do this!”

Aya, Angela and Aeron watched them with complex expressions on their face.
