Chapter 62 - Reawakening - Part 3

Nazar and Emily were sitting opposite one another in the cafe.

“So?”

“My throat is dry. Give me a few seconds.”

Nazar frowned.

“Do you want me to put milk and sugar in your coffee, Nazar?” Mikasa said out loud from behind the counter, which was at the corner of the cafe.

With a stiff smile, Nazar said, “Y-yeah...”

He was still not being used to Mikasa knowing about his secret in this timeline.

“And you, Em?”

“Yes. Thank you.”

Nazar slumped over the table and sighed heavily.

“So, why did you not tell me anything, Nazar?”

Hearing Mikasa’s question, Nazar thought about his answer.

“He didn’t even tell his own family about it until a few weeks ago.”

“Oh, that’s horrible.”

“Yes, yes, I know. But put yourself in my shoes.”

Nazar raised his head and looked at Emily.

“Before you judge me, then why did you not tell your parents a long time ago? I am sure you only told them a few weeks ago.”

Mikasa laughed.

“No, she told us years ago. If I remember correctly, she told us when she was only one year old.”

“What the…?”

Nazar looked between the mother and daughter in disbelief.

“And you guys… supported her?”

“Of course.”

Nazar lowered his gaze.

“Wait!”

Mikasa looked at him with a curious look on her face.

“Your parents...”

“The real ones.”

Mikasa seemed surprised.

“They were under the demon’s control in the other world. But here, they are very different. They are kind. Nice. Loving.”

Nazar was feeling conflicted.

“You are regretting that you should have told them? And not spending time with them?”

Nazar nodded.

“Well, better late than never.”

“True.”

Mikasa placed the cups before them.

“I will leave you guys be. Make sure to close the place down, Nazar. Got it?”

“Do I get paid extra?”

“No, you are not getting paid at all. You lied to me.”

“Oh, and he is insanely rich, mom. So, don’t worry.”

“This must be illegal!”

However, his rebutting was useless.

“Come to dinner one day, Nazar. And let’s have a looong chat.”

“Sure.”

Mikasa picked up her purse and started to walk out.

“And don’t worry, I will pay you.”

“Awesome!”

Mikasa left them alone, so they started talking.

“Before we start, can you answer a question of mine?”

Emily nodded as she took a sip out of her coffee.

“Why do you hate me?”

“Ah.”

She placed down the coffee cup and looked Nazar straight in the eyes.

“It’s a long story but mainly because you fucked up my life.”

“How so?”

“Let’s see… The Nameless One created YOU first. And then me. I am just a fucking power source while you are the main person. Of course, that doesn’t apply to the two of us but it applies to every other version across the damn multiverse.”

“...”

“We are just power sources. We don’t even have fucking powers. Of course, excluding me. I am different. But every other version is just useless. And then there is you, the god damned edgelord who has more power than anyone but hates it.”

“How--?”

“Let me finish.”

Emily took another sip from her coffee.

“And in our world, you changed my sexuality and fucked with my emotions.”

“Okay, my bad.”

“And then the Nameless One killed me just to prove a theory. Oh, and then brought me back, made me his host and used me like a god damned tool. While I became just a host and now a pathetic replacement, you are his successor,” she spat out with anger. “Do you know what that feels like?”

Nazar lowered his gaze.

“I hate you because you are the main one and I will be the one chasing after you. I will never be more than…. Than just this pathetic thing that is always running after you. Oh and don’t get me started on how regularly you stop time and scare the shit out of me.”

“Fair enough.”

Emily sighed heavily.

"Another question. What do you mean by time reset? Didn't you do the same a few minutes ago?"

Taking another sip out of her coffee cup, she calmed down a little.

"Nope. I merely reversed time but she destroys it, starting from the end. Like we did but on a much bigger scale."

"Ah…"

“Let’s continue," Emily said in a serious tone. “Do you know about Nazar Prime?”

Nazar tilted his head in a confused manner.

“When you were being created… There was a being called Nazar Prime. He was basically you were central processing unit.”

“So, they could use it to control all other Nazars?”

She nodded.

“Yes. And that Nazar Prime is...” she pointed at him with her index finger.

Seeing that, Nazar sucked in a breath.

“You.”

“...What?”

“You are the prototype and the central processing unit. To control all other Nazars and activate the most elite task force in the ultraverse capable of standing face to face against the angels and demons and the Gods.”

“And they can only be activated by me?”

“Yes. You are Nazar Prime. The prototype. The centrepiece. And that’s why you were messed around with and became this powerful.”

Nazar covered his face with his palm.

“Of course, Nazar Prime cannot be activated by anyone except the Nameless One… And me.”

“Then…?”

“And no, we could not control Nazar Prime when we destroyed time. We could command it but properly control? Nope.”

Nazar’s eyes widened.

“To destroy time, we used Arosus and activated you for a few seconds, then called down the power of all Nazars and powered up to a point where we could destroy time, starting from the end.”

“Wait, if you had Arosus--”

“I will come back to that later.”

Emily took another sip of her coffee.

“But we couldn’t control you. You had… Well, you are grown way past us. But Nazar Prime... He can be commanded. We commanded him to unleash the true power of all Nazars. To tell you the good news, Nazar Prime cannot affect you either. He can take over you but he cannot control you. So, don't worry about me using him to make you reach omnipotence. Plus, he is only capable of destruction.”

"...?"

"Also, I did not know about him until right now since the Nameless One was in charge. I remembered after I saw him. And I remember the password now, too. The password was; Hope."

"Ah..."

He was still feeling scared about Arosus. If they had taken Arosus’ power, they could do more than destroy time on ultraverse level.

“I can see the fear on your face which led me to believe that you don’t know Arosus that well, do you?”

Nazar bit hit lip so hard, he tasted blood.

“Arosus has never entered this megaverse. He sends in an avatar. And that’s what we consumed. He only had a little information and just a little power compared to the real Arosus.”

“Oh?”

“If Arosus were to come to this multiverse, dozens of universes will blow up immediately.”

“...Why?”

“Because he has more power than anyone else. Even if he lowers his powers at the highest level possible, he could easily destroy galaxies just by entering this universe.”

Nazar sucked in a breath in fear.

He took a sip out of the water which appeared out of the thin air.

“Anyway, going back to the beginning… Nazars were created to be the most elite task force in the multiverse. Being able to stand on the same playing field as the angels and the demons and the Gods. In their full power, that is.”

“I thought we were…?”

Emily shook her head.

“That was a secondary mission. You were supposed to be Michael’s opponent. The rest, however, were not assigned a particular angel. They were supposed to come together and kill any of the angels they can.”

Nazar tried to sort through all of his memory and this information simultaneously.

“Now onto the main point...”

“Oh?”

“Bring back the Nameless One.”

Nazar blinked very fast.

He looked at Emily.

“...”

He pinched his cheek to see if what he heard was correct.

“....What?!”

“I said bring back the Nameless One. Now that we know who Nazar Prime is, I need you to bring back the Nameless One, hand him as much power as he needs...”

Nazar slammed his fists on the table as he stood up.

“Emily?!”

“Listen to me for a second.”

Emily placed her hands on his shoulders and forced him to sit back down.

“We need him to fix time. If he doesn’t and you somehow fail against that bitch, we are all gone for.”

“...”

“I can’t do much against her. I tried once. A long time ago.”

Emily lowered her head in a sulking manner.

“But I can’t do anything which is why I stayed back. And I cannot bring back time because simply I don’t know how. So, you need to bring him back here, give him the power he needs and let him restore everything.”

Nazar forced a laugh.

“Absolutely not!”

“Look...”

“No, Emily. We don’t need him.”

“I am saying this because I don’t want you to reach that level of power again, god damn it. And you will never do it by yourself. Because you hate power.”

“Then--”

“Your God of Destruction form and your Black Universe move… Obviously, you are going to use those against that bitch. But to restore time, you would need to gain power on megaverse level and restore everything. And no, not in another form, but your main form. Temporary empowerment doesn't work. Look at your memories, we tried that before.”

"Why do other forms don't work?"

"I don't know. You tried it in other timelines and it did not work. Maybe it's a mental block or something but whatever the case, it doesn't work."

“And he is the only one who can do it?”

Emily nodded but Nazar frowned.

“Kind of. Another is Arosus but we both know he won't help. Anyway, the Nameless One is the best chance. The Nameless One and the Supreme One are two essential beings. Kill them off and you will need them one day. So, be glad you didn't kill them back then.”

Nazar sighed as he slumped over the table once more.

“The dragon saved him from me and sent him some...where...”

Nazar’s eyes widened.

“What the…?”

Nazar remembered something. Something he heard a long time ago.

“Her… True Goddess… That woman… What the hell?”

"Hm?"

Emily was not sure what he was talking about.

“More questions instead of answers…” Nazar muttered to himself. “How did the Dragon know about her? Why did he warn me about her? What is his connection to her? And how did he knew she will be coming? Where is he? What did he do to me? The hell is going on here?”

"Nazar?"

Feeling very frustrated, Nazar scratched his face with his fingers.

“Why did the Dragon pretended to be whatever he is?” Nazar continued to mutter as blood spurted from his face. “Why did he attack Heaven? Why did he side with Michael and allowed him to reach the Archangel position? Why did he not let me kill the Nameless One? Then how do I fit into all of this? And who is that woman really? Why does she want my power? Why does the Dragon know her?”

"NAZAR!"

Hearing her shout, Nazar came to her senses.

His scratches had already healed.

He let out a sigh.

On the table, Nazar placed his phone.

Without touching it, he navigated through it and found a file.

Playing it, Emily scratched her head in a confused manner.

“That’s just buzzing?”

“I knew it you cannot hear it.”

He sucked in a breath as he raised his head once more.

“Let me tell you what the message said.”

"What?"

"Things are going to be hard. She is coming. And I am sad to say this, but I am entrusting everything to you. I am sorry. I will see you one day. Soon, perhaps. Or perhaps I will be very late. When-- If we ever meet again, I promise I will explain everything. I made a great mistake and did you terribly. Hopefully, I can pay for my sins one day." And that's what he said."

"Who?"

"The Dragon."

With a confused expression, Emily tilted her head a little.

"Who is the Dragon?"

"I thought you would know him," he said as he sighed. "Well, I don't know either."

"Ah…?"

With a wry smile, she changed the topic.

"Moving on… We need the Nameless One's help to fix time. Or Arosus' - but we both know he won't do it. Or you could defeat her. Why don't you use your Absolute Wish to find out where she is and defeat her?"

"Honest?"

Emily nodded.

"I tried. I tried as soon as I got my power. Heck, I even used all the Godly powers I had. And I used omnipresence too - which I didn't have until recently. And guess what? I didn't find a single thing."

Her eyes widened.

"That's who we are dealing with here. Someone above us."

Sighing softly, Emily took a sip of her coffee.

Nazar noticed how hard she was thinking.

"Whenever you think hard, you squint your eyes and breathe through your nose only," Nazar said with a nostalgic smile on his face.

"That's a creepy detail to remember, love."

Emily said that, but she was smiling.

She leaned back in her chair and stared at the ceiling.

"Remember how easy it would have been? If we were just…"

"Normal."

"Yeah…"

"But if we were normal, what kind of relationship would we have? Hell, would we have even met in the first place?"

"..."

Emily kept quiet.

"I wouldn't have minded that, to be honest."

"Which is more than understandable."

"But I can't say I hated it. We had… fun."

"Haha. Like reading comics? Or you trying to drag me from the lonely world? In which you failed miserably."

Both of them laughed but then remembered the sad reality of that.

They did not have a choice in it.

No, scratch that. She did not have a choice in it. It was her destiny to be with Nazar and she was being pushed by an almighty being.

"But I still miss reading comics and manga and Light Novels with you. And of course, watching anime. We never played games, did we?"

Nazar shook his head.

"I never liked games."

"Same. But I love it now, honestly."

Emily was surprised by that.

"That's not like you."

"Ugh, Solace… That bitch!"

"Your AI?"

Nazar nodded.

"Since I was not on Earth for most of the time and had her cover for me, she turned me into this gamer and also this dumb idiot. But in exams, she would score 100%."

"And you based your human form on that? Haha. You are not so smart either, bitch."

"I know…" Nazar said as he hung his head low.

"Anyway, have you made your harem yet?"

Nazar stared at her blankly before laughing.

"I wish."

On her face, a proud smile appeared.

"I already have made my own."

"What?!?"

"Yes. Has like 10 people in it," she winked. " Boys and girls."

"Hmmm."

"You don't believe me."

Nazar shook his head and said, "Nope!"

"I will have you meet them."

"No thank you."

"Have you ever tried having sex with like ten people?"

"No," Nazar replied immediately.

“It’s fun. You should try it sometimes.”

“Thanks but no thanks. I am not interested.”

“You are no fun.”

“Haha. I am fine with being boring.”

Nazar held up his hand.

“The number of times I had sex… Consensual one, that is, is around five times.”

"In this timeline?"

He nodded.

"What if you include the original timeline?"

"It becomes eight."

Emily laughed.

"How do you live like that?"

"When you can manipulate your own physiology, you can remove sexual desires and such."

"Must be nice."

Nazar waved his hand and in front of him, a plate of chips appeared.

“Where did you get it from?”

“Canada. The chips are so chunky and tasty. I love it. Want some?”

“Of course,” she said as she picked up a french fry and ate it.

After swallowing the food, she leaned back in her chair.

“Not as good as the chicken shop we used to go.”

“Well, the owner died.”

“I am surprised you didn’t try and resurrect him.”

“I was very, very, very close.”

Emily laughed.

"You know what I love about having a shit ton of powers? I can eat as much as I want and won't get fat or anything."

"Yes. I hate my powers but sometimes, I don't mind it. I changed my physiology that I never sweat, smell or have body hair."

Emily slammed her hands on the table in surprise as she stood up.

"Dude, what?"

"Hm?"

"You don't smell?"

Nazar shook his head

"You don't have body hair?"

He shook his head again, but this time smiled.

"You don't sweat?!?"

"Nope."

She sat back down.

"I would kill for a body like that. You are so lucky."

"I could change yours too--- Wait, nevermind. My powers are useless against you."

Nazar spoke in a rather mocking tone.

"Fuck you."

As they ate the French fries, Nazar thought about many different timelines.

“I need to go through each of these timelines one by one and see if I can find something.”

“Yeah, definitely do that.”

She stretched.

“Don’t expect me to help anymore.”

“...?”

“I only did it because I want you to bring back the Nameless One and save us all. I can’t be of any help.”

“What if I--”

“Nope. I can’t.”

“Huh? Shouldn’t you be happy that you are becom--”

“NO!”

Nazar was not sure why she would reject that.

“I can’t control that much power. Simply put, my body is not made for it.”

“I could change it.”

“No, you cannot. We tried in the previous timeline, remember? You are useless against me, remember?”

Nazar heaved a heavy sigh.

“You couldn’t resurrect me. I am the opposite of what you are.”

Nazar remembered the original timeline in which he could not resurrect her after the Nameless One had killed her.

“You are the creator and I am the destroyer.”

“But--”

“Do the math yourself for once.”

“Ah.”

It seems as if Nazar had caught on to what she was talking about.

“When I became omnipotent...”

“Yes. When you became the ultimate God, you became the ultimate creator too.”

Nazar hated that she called him a God. But that’s exactly what he was.

“You became the opposite of what you were. You became the greater destroyer but soon became the great creator.”

“Yeah, I know...” Nazar said in a depressed manner.

“Yes. But there is also something else.”

Emily leaned forward in her chair.

“Nazar was supposed to be the greatest weapon. And I was supposed to be his power source.”

“I suppose there is more to your original model too?”

“Precisely, ”she nodded. “What happens when you create an extremely powerful weapon?”

“You need countermeasures.”

“That’s me. I have always been your opposite. And in so many ways, we are also very similar. It's complicated, I know."

Nazar chuckled.

"Anyway, I was supposed to be the thing that stops you. Your powers are useless against me. In no way you can hurt me unless I want you to hurt me.”

Nazar looked impressed.

“So, when you became the creator, the Nameless One made me a destroyer. Absolutely pathetic. This is why I hate you. I cannot fucking stand the thought of you some times.”

“Then sit down instead of trying to stand up?”

Nazar tried to make the sudden gloomy atmosphere go away.

“I--”

Emily’s angry face wavered and laughed.

“I fucking hate you, you bitch.”

Nazar laughed.

“This is why I also love you.”

“I can’t say I love you too.”

Emily smiled thinly.

“You will love me one day. That’s my promise to you.”

Narrowing his eyes, Nazar said, “Wouldn’t you be going in the direction set for you by our creator?”

Emily’s smile wavered.

“We are perfect weapons. We are NPCs in this world. We don’t make our existence. The people and things around us. We always choose the simplest route without questioning it. That's what we are. Blank and boring and simple NPCs being influenced by things around us. Get in a relationship? Not your choice. Break up? Not your choice again. You are not going to get a say in it. Even simple things like that... We don't get a say in it.”

Nazar, in a confused manner, tilted his head.

“We are like reality; we are blank templates. Our lives and such? It’s all decided by things and people around and before us. Like your current look. How did you think you came up with that? To look badass?”

Emily chuckled.

“No. That’s your original, original design.”

“....What? But the Nameless One…?”

“....The Nameless One doesn’t have black hair and black eyes, though?”

Nazar’s eyes widened.

He has met his creator a few times. He had black hair and black eyes.

What is she talking about? - Nazar thought.

“When entering your view, almost everything changes according to how you see the world. How you think it should be. Yes, the Nameless One looks like you, but his hair was white and had red eyes. Until you were born. Once your features changed, he changed himself too. He thought it would make your connection stronger."

Nazar was about to move his lips but Emily held up her index finger, stopping him.

“Your white hair and red eyes were replaced by black hair and black eyes because you did not want to stand out - that was a few months after you were born. But before you changed it, the demon saw it and that's why he experimented on you. But when you found out that this world was not as simple as people knew it, you stopped thinking about normal and your true form came out.”

Nazar scratched his head.

“Did you get a good look at the Nameless One at the last moment? His true form appeared too. Looks exactly like you. But right now, he keeps the black hair and black eyes but that's not his true form. Your true form and his are the same.”

Nazar covered his face with his hand.

“Before you killed him-- Us, we absorbed a bit of Arosus’ power. And in there, we saw something. A glimpse. A glimpse of something… Or someone. He looked like you-- And him.”

“What are you…?”

Emily continued to utter out some words, and with every word that entered his ear, Nazar's heart skipped a beat, so he turned off his emotions.

“Someone starting at… What?”

“No idea, mate.”

“Tch.”

“So, when you wanted a change, you took your original form. You tried to convince yourself that it makes you look badass but we both know that it's because you took your original form. Also, demons don’t look like that. They are far scarier than what you see.”

Nazar has been fed so much information today and he is not sure how to digest all of this.

“There is nothing original about you. Everything you have done or do? It’s been done before by someone else or you have seen it happen in a fictional story. Your Black Universe move?”

She narrowed her eyes.

“Arosus came up with it. Remains of his are left and that’s how you got it.”

She leaned back in her chair and pointed to her temple with her index finger.

“Remember when I told you that you cannot think?”

Nazar nodded.

“I did not mean it literally. But what I mean is, that you can never come up with something original. You have lived for hundreds of years and you still have not done anything original. Arosus has, but he is different. I am talking about you. YOU...”

She pointed at him with her index finger.

“Haven’t done anything original.”

Nazar could not deny that.

“How did you come up with the whole Arosus thing? Why did you split yourself?”

“I… I don’t know.”

Nazar, when he got rid of his omnipotence, he also removed most of his memories and knowledge.

So, of course, he does not remember a lot of things. He did not even know that he had reached that state until Arosus told him.

“Because someone in this ultraverse had done the same. Nameless One. And someone else.”

Nazar wondered who the other person was.

"How did you come up with the idea of having so many different forms?"

"Dragon Ball."

"I--"

Emily was speaking very seriously until now but she let out a sigh and laughed.

"Damn it, why did you break my streak."

"Speaking of Dragon Ball, do you still watch it? It was your favourite anime/manga."

"Of course, I still do," she said as she puffed her cheeks. "Don't you?"

Nazar shook his head.

"I would if it had a better power system."

She stared at him blankly.

"What?"

"You are dissing my childhood."

"I don't care," he replied with a smile.

"If you want to shit talk about the Dragon Ball power system, have you seen your own?"

"What do you mean?"

"When you first started out, you were like a planet level threat. Then immediately after, you became a solar system level. And then jumped all the way to a universal level. And then soon after to omniversal level."

"It's because I have abilities which ignores logic."

"That excuse doesn't work on me. Your power levels are all over the place."

"Well…"

Emily looked at her watch and stood up.

"Anyway, I am going to go now. I have a date," she said as she winked. "We should talk some other time. Hopefully not anytime soon."

"Okay."

"Oh, and think about what I said. We need the Nameless One."

"Tch," Nazar clicked his tongue.

She kissed him on the cheek and walked out.

Nazar slumped over the table and sighed heavily.

"I haven't even explored 5% of this existence-- Ultraverse and she tells me there are thousands of other ultraverses?!?"
