Chapter 39.1 - Side Story #1

27th of April 2020 - Yira - Andromeda Galaxy - Third dimensional plane of existence:

On a small planet called Yira at the edge of the Andromeda Galaxy, inside a small and dirty bar, Baros was sitting in one corner.

Opposite him was sitting a man who had an eyeball as ahead.

The rest of his body had human-like features except for his head. His mouth and nose were placed on his chest.

Like most of his people, this person is very short. The highest person of the natives her is 1.30 meters tall.

These are the common features of people from Yira.

Baros chuckled.

“”

Baros sighed.

“”

Tir gave a dismissive wave of his hand as he shook his head and said, “”

Baros smiled stiffly as Tir sulked over his old age.

Tir's sulky expression was soon changed by an excited one.

With wide eyes, he was looking at a busty blonde woman with blue eyes.

Seeing that, Baros sighed heavily.

(Sigh. Darkness…)

Darkness walked closer to them with a smile.

She didn't resemble the normal Darkness at all. She seems more energetic and happier.

Darkness also looked very approachable and friendly compared to her other self which looked very angry and unfriendly.

"" Darkness said with a wide smile.

Tir nodded his head which resembled an eyeball.

He seemed sad for some reasons.

Before Baros could even say anything, Tir slumped on the table and continued.

Tir started to get very depressed.

Hearing that, Tir stood up and started to walk away.

Darkness laughed.

She walked closer and sat opposite Baros.

Baros raised his eyebrows when he heard Tir's shout from the other side of the bar.

Baros sighed deeply.

""

Tir ran back near them with an exciting look.

""

Baros' shoulders' tensed up.

Tir held his index finger to Baros.

""

Darkness whistled.

But Baros looked very serious.

Baros sighed and he vanished into thin air as a green magical circle appeared beneath him.

On an empty planet, Baros appeared out of thin air.

He looked very angry for some reasons.

Overflowing with anger, he kicked the ground beneath him.

Cracks opened in the ground for miles.

Behind him, Darkness appeared.

Looking back, he clicked his tongue.

“”

“”

She exhaled slowly.

“”

She trailed off once she noticed the complex expression on Baros’ face.

“”

Baros turned away and looked at the sky above him.

“”

“”

Her eyes narrowed in anger.

Gritting her teeth, she said, “”

Baros turned around and pointed at himself with his index finger.

“”

Darkness frowned.

“”

“”

Darkness’ eyes widened in surprise.

“”

“”

Not knowing how to take it, she took a step back.

“”

“”

Guilty, Baros nodded.

Baros started to look a little angry again.

“”

Darkness was taken by that, so she didn’t know how to respond to him.

“”

Darkness averted her gaze.

“”

“”

Baros shrugged before he vanished into thin air.

“”

She bit her lip in anger.

“”

A magical circle appeared beneath her and she teleported out.

25th of July, 2020 - Jabalot Empire:

Darkness was in her room and sitting at her desk, reading through a book.

However, it was not a magic-related book.

As she was reading, someone appeared out of thin air.

He was a tall and muscular light-skinned man with black hair and red eyes. His eyes looked very dangerous and he had a habit of glaring at people which scared them off a lot.

He stood at around 1.83 meters tall and wearing black armour. It was a skin-tight black armour which helps him with stealth missions. The armour can be used to redirect light rays and render him invisible. It also has other capabilities such as teleportation and force field creation.

Of course, he can do that under his own power but he likes to be prepared just in case if his powers are rendered useless one day.

Darkness turned around and saw the man.

“”

This was Reaper. He is a mercenary who has lived for thousands upon thousands of years. In the thousands of years, no one has figured out his true power in this universe - except Nazar.

His track record is better than any other mercenary. He had toppled empires, killed heroes and destroyed worlds.

If he tried hard to look back on his life, he will only find a few failed missions. The count of his failures can be numbered ten or less.

“”

Reaper always appeared emotionless and expressionless. He does feel emotions but he never shows it unless he is around people he trusts a lot.

“” Darkness said as she pointed towards a chair that appeared in the room from thin air. “”

Feeling annoyed, Reaper did as she asked.

“”

Sher averted her gaze from him.

Narrowing his eyes, he asked again, “”

Sensing anger in his tone, she felt her shoulders jump.

Seeing that, Reaper knew that it was something personal and not professional.

“”

When Darkness got banished from Chochica, she was placed inside the Jabalot Prison. It was a prison for the worst of the worst. But after a long time, she prisoners rebelled with the leadership of Iget and took control of the planet.

Building a criminal empire for themselves, Reaper also joined them. He didn’t join them under his free will but he had no other choice. His son was taken by Iget and he had to work for him.

Once he joined them, he helped Darkness in secret. He helped her by telling her stories about other magicians he has faced before and gave her some magic books.

Ever since then, she always looked at Reaper for answers.

She scratched her cheeks as cold sweat poured down her face.

“”

Staring at her blankly, Reaper stood up.

“”

She got up and held his arm.

“”

Reaper still wanted to leave her.

“”

Darkness trailed off.

“”

During the [Execution Agenda]*, a villain by the name of [Annihilator]* attacked the largest empires in the surrounding galaxies. During his attack, many planets were destroyed. Among the destroyed universes, Reaper’s family was killed too.

(What’s with my wife and children dying in every timeline?) Reaper thought to himself.

Reaper is also one of the few people who never forgot the original timeline.

In 2019 of the original timeline, to change the laws of the universe, Nazar had powered up Reaper to a point where he would stand in the next category above the likes of angels and demons. Reaching that point, it changed Reaper.

Seeing the depressed look on her face, Reaper sighed.

Darkness could not believe that Reaper agreed to help her out.

“” Reaper muttered.

He sat on a chair and Darkness did the same.

He nodded.

“”

Hearing that, she stood up in reflex.

(Increased heart rate… Increased temperature… Yes, that answers my question.)

Reaper smiled.

She nodded.

Darkness blushed.

Reaper stood up.

Reaper shrugged and vanished into thin air.

Sunday, 2nd of May 2021:

Now, sitting on a chair and thinking back, Darkness realised something.

Today, when she went with Nazae, she met Baros for the first time after a year.

She slumped over the table.

“”

When she met Baros on planet Yamer’s, she noticed she felt happy for some reasons.

But remembering what Baros had told her and seeing Nazar and Lian there, she managed to not show it on her face.

“”

She shook her head.

“”

Feeling a little uneasy in her heart, she closed her eyes.

“”

But suddenly, she opened her eyes.

“”

She slapped her cheeks with both of her hands.
