Chapter 20 - Family Matters - Part 4
Tuesday 11th of May, 2021 - London, UK - Earth:
Inside the accommodations of BUST (Bradley University of Science and Technology), in a small room with 1 bed and a bathroom, someone woke up, breathing heavily.
This woman was around 1.70 meters tall.
She was extremely beautiful. She had long black hair and big brown eyes.
Despite her perfect face, she was also extremely busty. Her perfectly shaped face and her perfectly shaped body made her look like a supermodel.
In Nazar’s own words, “I want those big boobs, big ass and those thick thighs of yours to sandwich me all at once and kill me. That’s the only acceptable way for me to die.”
Her name is Laura Marino.
Nazar based Solace’s measurements, except her height based on Laura. Furthermore, Solace's facial features are also loosely based on Laura.
She and Nazar have a long history. A history she might not be aware of.
She was sitting on her bed in her underwear and was breathing heavily.
Cold sweat was coming down on her face like streams of water.
“Wha… what?”
She rubbed her eyes and got off the bed.
Laura went into the bathroom of the small room and looked at herself in the mirror.
“I am sweating a lot...”
Tapping the top of the tap, water started to come out.
She splashed some water on her face and looked at herself in the mirror once more.
“What kind of dream… No, it wasn’t a dream.”
She closed her eyes and then opened it again. She repeated it a few times.
“It felt like a stream of memories… But…whose? Mine?”
Laura then pinched herself on the cheek.
“Ow.”
After splashing some water on her face once more, she left the bathroom.
Laura sat on the bed with a towel in her hand and started wiping her face.
“Let’s call it a dream.“
She took a deep breath.
“In this dream, I see Nazar. But he looks different. Different hair colour and eyes colour. He always looks… sad?”
She was seeing flashing images of Nazar through different times.

Laura then closed her eyes as she started to recall parts of this ‘dream’.
“He was a mass murderer? What? And he also killed my parents?”
After recalling that part of the ‘dream’, she gulped.
She forced a smile.
“Come on now… This dream is so weird...”
She opened her eyes and blushed furiously.
“Wait, wait, wait… Did he and I really do that…? I mean, it isn’t too far fetched for couples to do… but…”
(I wouldn’t mind...doing it with him ag---)
She cut off her own thoughts in the middle and shook her head.
(Stop! Let’s go through this dream.)
“Okay, so… In this dream, he saves me when he doesn’t even have powers… then there is also the part where he dies... Whaaaaat? This dream doesn’t make sense.”
She removed the towel from her face.
“Then after that… Wait, what happened exactly in this dream…?”
She closed her eyes again to try and recall the different parts she saw.
“Let’s go through this again.”
Many different images flashed in front of her eyes and she started repeating after herself.
“My brother was ill. My parents tried to find a cure. Then many years later, Nazar kills thousands. Then he leaves earth. Then he comes back because something called the undead attacks? But while he was away, I started working for this organisation that created superhumans? And my boss was a fucking alien?!?!”
She lied down on the bed as she continued to search for the rest of the ‘dream’.
“Then I find out that Nazar had created this organisation because he was suicidal? Then his friend dies and he killed thousands more? Then… Then… Then my parents return…. But it's actually the Nameless One? Wait, what is the Nameless One. Anyway, he throws me and powerless Nazar through time? He saves me but dies…. But he isn’t dead…. Whaaaaattttt?”
She let out a sigh as she could not recall the details correctly.
“Okay, moving on. We went to the multiverse searching for my brother? Then the Nameless One takes away Nazar...only to come back and he is powerless again? Then he finds my brother… Then we get in a relationship?”

Laura couldn’t stop herself from blushing at the last part.
“Ahem. A-anyway, then after that, some stuff happens… He tells me something about being an omnipotent god…? Yeah right.”
She couldn’t help but chuckle.
However, with her eyes closed, her expression became more serious.
“But the dead friend is back and she kills me? That’s it!?!? The fuck?”
She opened her eyes and sat up.
“That was it? What was that? Stupid dreams,” she said as she threw the towel away.

Wednesday 12th of May, 2021 - London, UK - Earth:
The next day, she woke up again early in the morning and breathing heavily.
“I...”
Streams of cold sweat were pouring down her face.
“I remember everything. It wasn’t a dream but my memories of another life?”
She hugged her knees.
“A whole world…? But how? Who did it?”
After a while, she got up and got changed.
Hours passed and she kept thinking about the same thing.
She remembered every detail of her other life.
However, she wasn’t sure if they were real.
“Emma, Aria, John, Mary, Emily, Lian, Alice, Aarin, Solace, the Nameless One… So many names I don't know in this world. And not sure if they exist...”
She noticed one of those names.
But she wasn’t sure which one it was.
In this timeline, Nazar had mentioned one of the names but she couldn’t recall who it was.
"Was it Emma... or Alice? He did mention one of these names..."
She thought hard about it but couldn't remember which Name Nazar had told her.
Laura went to her desk, which was at the corner of the room and sat on the chair.
Letting out an exasperated sigh, she started picking up the books and papers from the desk and putting it inside a plastic bag, which was placed on the floor next to the desk.
“Weird names if you ask me. Who calls themselves Solace… Wait, she was an AI, right? And Aarin was an angel…? What the fuck?”
Her stopped moving because she was stunned.
“I knew some cool people.”
“How do you remember that?”
“Eek!!” She shouted as she jumped her place.
With tense shoulders, she looked back and saw a tall, busty and muscular woman with red hair and lifeless eyes, wearing a skin-tight black bodysuit armour.
Seeing her, Laura’s tense shoulders relaxed.
“Jesus, Solace… You scared me…. Wait.”
“I said, how do you remember that?”
Solace sounded very angry.
For artificial intelligence, she showed more emotions than most people.
“Wh-what do you--”
“HOW DO YOU REMEMBER THAT?”
Hearing her angry voice, Laura gulped.
She felt strength leaving her body.
“A whole timeline destroyed… You never lived that life, so why do you remember it?”
Laura was too scared to answer.
Her eyes were wide open in fear.
Seeing that, Solace let out a sigh.
“Sorry. But do you know...”
She trailed off once she saw Laura shaking her head.
Solace let out a sigh and sat on Laura’s bed.
“What do you remember?”
“E-everything?”
Laura was still wary of Solace.
“Shit.”
Solace ran multiple scenarios within her mind and came to a conclusion.
“I am going to remove those memories of your--”
“NO!”
Hearing Laura’s shout, Solace trailed off and stared at her in surprise.
“Why?”
Solace didn’t understand.
Why would she want to keep memories in which nothing good happened? Why would she want to remember the bad days?
“Because despite those life’s flaws…….”
Laura paused and smiled.
“It had some good moments. I can use that not make the same mistakes in life and be better.”
“That’s a… logical decision.”
“Thank you for understanding.”
Solace stood up.
“Are you leaving?”
Solace nodded.
“Oh...”
Laura started to look a little disappointed.
Seeing that, Solace frowned.
“What? Do you want me to stay?”
“Eh? N-no… I mean, if you want...”
Solace let out a sigh and sat on the bed once more.
“Fine.”
Laura’s gloomy expression turned into a cheerful one.
“Let’s talk about the other world.”
Seeing the excitement on Laura’s face, Solace didn’t want to decline her request.
“Okay.”

Overgrowth
I never thought I'd be killed by butterflies. But here I am... Edmon Valli was a smuggler, before a freak storm threw him off course and stranded him on a desert island smack in the middle of an uncharted monster zone. Trying his best to survive, or possibly even escape, he stumbles across the find of a lifetime: an unclaimed dungeon crystal. This is a dungeon-ish story, but without reincarnation or transmigration. I started it as a whim for NaNoWriMo so I may drop it any time after that... or I might not. My current plan is to write until I can reach some sort of conclusion and call it 'volume one'. I hope someone enjoys reading it for now! All comments, corrections, and criticism welcome.

The Infinite Labyrinth
(Story complete - Book 1 "Shanghaied", 2 "Shortcuts", 3 "Secrets" and 4 "Sanctions") It is the 19th century, and war smoulders between England and France. Any hope for a quick end to Napoleon's rampage across Europe ended when the Great Gates opened in 1800. For a fortunate few, the strange world of the Infinite Labyrinth offers opportunities, strange descriptors popping in their minds, informing them of growth, and status beyond that of a mere mortal. The materials and power crystal they bring back foster a new age, both military and civilian. Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.
