Chapter 8 - Sins - Part 4
Chias, Chochica Empire:
“This is gonna be fun,” Nazar said with a wide smile on his face.
His chest was beating faster than ever.
And he couldn’t get rid of that smile on his face.
For the first time in a long time, he felt this much excitement.
He was facing seven ugly monsters whose energies kept on increasing every passing second.
Nazar had stopped time but they were not affected by it.
The monsters looked at one another in confusion.
He cracked his fingers and then his neck.
“Let’s do this.”
Nazar shot himself towards the seven monsters.
The monsters were confused. Their energies were much higher than Nazar’s. They could destroy multiple universes in a short span of time if they wanted to.
Yet, this human didn’t even flinch.
He was coming towards them with a wide smile on his face.
One of these seven monsters swung their double-edged axe.
However, it never reached Nazar.
Nazar punched the demon which threw its axe towards him in the head.
His hand went through the monster’s head.
But.
“Oh? You are pretty powerful, huh?”
Nazar’s eyes widened once he heard the monster’s sound. His fist had gone through his head but he was still talking.
“Hehe…”
Nazar felt his heart beat even faster.
His chest swole up in excitement.
“This is getting fun!!”
He jumped back and landed on the ground.
The monster’s head was healed completely instantly.
“You guys...”
His hand twitched and their surrounding changed.
They were on Chias a few seconds ago but now they were in the darkness of the space.
The monsters looked down and saw the planet below them.
“...are fun to be around.”
Nazar’s heart was beating faster and faster.
“What manner of being are you?”
Hearing the monster’s question, he narrowed his eyes.
“I am the god that created everything.”
The monsters exchanged glances.
And then burst into laughter.
“Pathetic.”
“We don’t really care.”
“Oh?” Nazar’s wide smile got thinner.
The monsters didn’t care about Nazar at all, they were still laughing among themselves.
In Nazar’s hand, an energy sword appeared.
The energy sword was very long.
The energy was made from yellow coloured energy. But if someone looked closely, they would notice a little black energy that was moving within it as if it were tendrils.
“When I am done with you guys...”
He shot himself towards the monsters.
The monsters continued to laugh and not pay any attention.
“....”
(Wait!) He thought to himself.
Nazar suddenly stopped speaking.
(What is it that I wanted to say? I totally forgot what I wanted to say.)
He let out a sigh.
(Oh well...)
He held the energy sword tight in both of his hands.
He swung it towards one of the monsters.
They weren’t paying attention to him.
Nazar had a confident look on his face.
The sword was getting closer towards one of the monsters.
It was about to hit them.
But.
Nothing happened.
The monsters had vanished from his sight.
“Huh?”
Nazar’s eyes widened.
He slowly turned his head around.
“No way...”
He saw the monsters behind him with the edge of his eye.
“Holy...”
The monsters were still laughing.
“You are powerful…”
“But you are way below us.”
One of the monsters laughed and the other one looked at him.
“You stole my line.”
“Sorry, sorry.”
Nazar’s sword vanished and he exhaled.
“Who are you?” Nazar asked them as he narrowed his eyes.

“We...”
“...are...”
“...the...”
“...seven...”
“...deadly...”
“...sins...”
One of them didn’t get a chance to say a word.
So, he kept quiet.
“I am Lust.”
The one who named himself Lust licked his lips as he introduced himself.
“I am Gluttony.”
The one who named himself Gluttony was a little fatter than the rest.
“I am Greed.”
He was holding his double-edged axe close to himself. It is as if he didn't want anyone to even try and snatch it. He would also occasionally glance at the double-edged axes of his comrades.
“I am Sloth.”
The one who named himself Sloth looked very bored. He was holding his axe very loosely. And when they were moving earlier, he was slower than the others.
“I am Wrath.”
The one who named himself Wrath was gritting his teeth.
“I am Envy.”
The one who named himself Envy looked rather sad compared to the other ones.
“And I am Pride.”
And of course, the last one had a proud smile on his face.
“And we are the Seven Deadly Sins.”
“...............................”
Nazar gave them a blank look.
“Eh?” Nazar let out an airheaded reply.
The monsters looked at one another.
They then shrugged.
Nazar crossed his right arm around his chest and raised his left hand to his chin.
He started to think.
“That’s not possible.”
The monsters looked at him in confusion.
“They are anime characters… Oh, wait, no they are manga characters…”
Nazar loosened his hands and opened his eyes wide once he realised something.
“Oh shit. I do remember reading about them in Captain Marvel/Shazam comics. I sure miss when he was called Capti--”
Before he could even finish, one of them had moved and punched him in the head.
His head splattered in the darkness of space.
“You made a--”
The monster trailed off because Nazar’s head came back together. He saw as Nazar’s splattered head came back and recreated his head.
“Oh?”
The splattered parts of Nazar’s head formed his head once more. It looked like nothing has been changed.
“Interesting,” was the monster’s only word.
The monsters surrounded Nazar.
He could escape if he flew down or up.
But he didn’t get a chance.
The monsters swung their axes and all of them hit Nazar.
One axe went through his head.
The other went through his neck.
Another axe stabbed into his heart.
And the rest went through his other body parts.
The monsters swung the axes again and Nazar found himself cut into small pieces.
But it didn’t do him anything.
Nazar reformed himself in less than what can be considered a second.
The monsters swung their axes once more.
They already looked bored.
But something happened.
Nazar vanished from their line of sight.
“Hm?”
He head appeared behind one of them.
“I figured something out.”
The monster who called himself Sloth heard a sound behind him.
Before he could even react, Nazar’s fist went through the monster’s head.
Nazar knew it would regenerate but he didn’t care.
“You are powered by ‘sins’, right?”
The monsters looked at one another.
The monster who called himself Pride said, “Yes. The source of our power is sin.”
“Oh?”
“So, do you know why you are nothing before us?”
“Everyone sins. You sin. Your friends sin. Your siblings' sin. Everyone sins,” the monsters who called himself Envy said. “And do you know what happens when we are surrounded by sinners?”

“Our powers increases significantly,” the monster known as Wrath added. “And it still is. You have stopped time, yet we are still getting more and more powerful by the second.”
“Billions of years of sins from across the multiverse,” the monster known as Lust said. “And it is coming right into us.”
“Interesting,” was Nazar’s only word.
Nazar pulled his hand from the monster’s hand.
He punched one of the demons in the chest.
It went through the monster’s chest but it didn’t do anything.
While Nazar was busy with Envy, Wrath kicked him from the back.
However, their kicked phased through Nazar’s body. His body became intangible.
Nazar unleashed an omnidirectional energy beam and hit all of the monsters with it.
(Their powers keep increasing. It is not magic, that is for sure. But what is it?)
The energy beam managed to hit all the monsters.
But it was useless and Nazar knew it.
However, Nazar didn’t care. He was actually happy. He has not met someone as powerful as these in the last few years. He couldn’t help but smile.
But something else happened.
Nazar's eyes widened once he noticed those immense energies.
Someone had appeared behind him and the monsters.
Nazar looked back and frowned.
Nazar knew who it was.
“Ah. Damn it! That’s all the excitement I get?”
“Yes.”
“Sigh.”
And then time unfroze without Nazar’s control.

On an unknown planet, Michael was sitting in midair and was looking at the situation in Chias through a floating mirror before him.
“Oh? Why has he not joined the battle?”
Those people were getting nearly killed but Michael looked very disappointed.
“I told them not to kill anyone… But maybe they should kill some?”
Michael let out a sigh.
“Well, at least these guys are not a total failure… Oh, Baros has joined the battle? Interesting.”
After so long, Michael finally started to feel a little excitement. But that all seemed fake. He wanted to feel excited but he instead felt disappointment within him.
“Oh, finally!!”
He started to look even more excited once Nazar joined the battle. This time he actually felt excited and wasn't forcing it on his face.
But then soon after that, time stopped completely.
However, Michael was not affected by it.
He and his floating mirror were unaffected.
Michael didn’t really care.
“Now, let’s see how you take care-- Oh?”
He watched as the seven people were swallowed.
“They are… dead?” Michael looked very disappointed.
He let out a sigh.
“Well, I wasn’t expecting much...”
As he was about to take his gaze away from the mirror, he saw something.
“It can’t be...”
He watched as the beam killed many people.
“No...”
He started to look excited even more.
But that was not all.
He also started to feel a little scared.
Michael saw as these monsters come out.
“They are real?!?!?!”
His heart started to beat a little faster due to excitement and fear.
He couldn’t tell which one to feel.
He was excited that someone would be able to hurt Nazar in some way.
But he is scared because they seem very powerful.
“I thought they were something out of legends?”
He tried to force a smile on his face but it would go back to normal due to fear.
“The Seven Deadly Sins... To… To think… Interesting.”
Michael watched as Nazar tried to fight against the seven monsters. He found it amusing that Nazar didn't defeat them immediately.
“Why not use your full power and be done with it-- Oh?”
As he was watching that, something happened.
Someone appeared.
Michael finally became serious.
His smile suddenly vanished and his fear skyrocketed.
“No...“
Michael’s mirror vanished.
“Anyone but him.”
Uneasiness consumed him.
And before he knew it, he had already left the planet.

London, UK - Earth:
Millions of light years away from Chias, on a planet known as Earth, something strange was going on.
Time was frozen everywhere.
There was not a single place that it was unfrozen.
But there was something strange going on.
A petite woman with blonde hair and blue eyes was looking around the frozen place.
“What… is this?”
She said slowly while moving.
Everyone and everything around her was frozen.
The woman looked at her watch. It was around 10 AM in the morning. But it was stuck there. It was not moving at all.
So, she looked once more around her. Everyone and everything was frozen.
The confused woman walked among the frozen people and cars while trying to figure out what’s wrong.
“Could it be...”
She knew something.
She was not a normal human.
She doesn’t have powers but she is not a normal human.
“Did someone freeze time…?”
Her eyes widened as she realised something.
This confused woman’s eyes started to twitch faster because of her thought.
Horror could be seen all over her face.
“Is it the… Nameless One…?"
That was her ignorance speaking, trying to not mention the true culprit.
"Or is it Nazar?”
She slapped her cheeks with both of her hands and then shook her head.
“Wake up!”
She lowered her gaze.
“Is it her again, isn't it?”
Horror took over her very being once more.
She remembered unpleasant memories.
“No… No!”
With fear consuming her, she lost the ability to think straight for a moment. So, she started to run in a random direction.
She was running in the middle of the road when suddenly she started to hear once more.
“Ah…?”
This woman paused and looked around herself.
She was standing in the middle of the road and all of a sudden everyone and everything was moving.
“Emily!”
She heard a faint shout calling her name.
She knew who was calling her and from where but she still looked around in confusion.
“Bright white light… Bright white light...”
She was expecting something.
Something that might be too dangerous but it might not be.
She continued to look in every direction.
Left, right, up, down, and other directions.
“Bright white lig--”
She immediately stopped moving.
She felt someone’s hand on her shoulder.
“Emily?”
She slowly turned around and saw a familiar face.
It was a beautiful Japanese woman with long black hair and black eyes.
She was a little shorter than this woman known as Emily.
“What’s wrong, honey?”
This confused woman looked around once more.
“There is no bright white light...”
She started to look a little relaxed.
“What happened, honey?”
The confused woman forced a smile on her face and looked at the woman behind her.
“Uh… It’s nothing, mom. Sorry.”
The other woman showed a wry smile but it seems she didn’t really believe that everything was fine.
They waited for a little while and safely left the road.
The petite woman looked back once more.
But everything was the same as it was earlier.
Time was moving once more and there was no ‘bright white light’.
She turned around as she exhaled and continued walking with the other woman.

8 107In Pursuit of Bark's Finest
On the frontiers of transhumanity’s expansion into the galaxy thousands of light years from the light of Sol, things can get rather chaotic. There are countless millions of nascent interstellar nations securing their interests, pirate ships prospering off plunder and deniable mercenary work, dissidents setting up their own civilizations, and other groups all trying to push an agenda. When these groups crash into each other, the results can become extremely messy and convoluted. Recently, a frontier nation calling itself the Red Star Union has found itself at the focal point of one such complication. A freighter under their protection has been sabotaged, hijacked in interstellar space, and robbed of its cargo. This would be bad enough even if all it were carrying was luxury goods, but the freighter Nebula Plow was carrying more than just normal trade goods. Indeed, her cargo of Non-Orientable Wormholes for use in starship power plants was both very expensive and very, very dangerous. Now the Red Star Union has to worry about a pirate crew running around with several extra devices capable of converting matter into antimatter with negligible energy cost. With those, the pirates could be capable of inflicting untold damage if allowed to leverage their ill-gotten gains into a stronger position, a possibility the Union finds completely intolerable. Unfortunately, all that the Red Star Union has to go on for evidence is two names; that of the captain, and that of the ship. The Captain is going by the possible pseudonym of Fuller, while the ship is named Bark’s Finest. And thus the orders came down to the Union’s Bureau of Starforce Intelligence: find more information on these pirates, conclusively identify them, and figure out where exactly they’ve gone to ground so that the fleet can crush them before they get established. Of the many agents that the bureau assigned to this mission, one would happen to play an important role: Field Agent Madeline Zargosty. This is her story. This story is entirely pre-written, and will have one chapter released per week. If you want to read it all ahead of schedule and get access to some premium-exclusive bonus content, the entire book is available for purchase; links to the appropriate storefront pages will be posted at the end of each chapter.
