《I Am The World》Chapter 6: What The Hell Are Those Stats!

I narrowed my eyes at the memories transmitted back to me.
"Dammit, so there was such a problem."
"You're really stupid, aren't you, Mark!"
Well, to be fair, it wasn't my fault. No matter how much your computative power increases, there's no way you could get used to it quickly, nor is there any way your personality of focusing only on the important parts and not the possible downsides get rectified that easily.
"...Haah."
I opened the system and wrote the notes into the amendment, before spending a few of the points I got from the world on it and reshaping the dungeon.
Now, if there was an overload of souls on a floor, the souls would first be born 100*n on the floor, before moving to adjacent floors. If all the floors are done and it still isn't enough, then the souls are merged and stored. Once all of the older souls are defeated, no more new monsters would emerge for a while. Instead, after 2 days, a Hidden Boss will be deployed on every floor. These Hidden Bosses are much harder to defeat than normal bosses, but will definitely provide drops and a level up for everyone participating.
A blurry wooden ceiling entered Zilo's view as he opened his bleary eyes.
His first sensation was simple.
Pain.
Overwhelming, immense pain, all over his body.
He could faintly hear voices to his side, but his nerves were all overwhelmed with pain for him to concentrate.
"Oh, Creator, give me your blessing. Let me show your kindness, your divine light, and your noble will, to all of the beings you love."
"High Heal."
Zilo's pain mostly faded as a warm, gentle silver light surrounded him, slowly seeping into his wounds. He could feel them healing extremely fast, but the light was so comfortable; he simply wanted to fade away with it...
"Don't give in to the comfort!"
The sudden yell jolted him from his state. He soon realized what happened, and immediately burst into cold sweat.
'That was dangerous... did I just feel like I wanted to give up? Me, of all people? No, I must strengthen my will.'
In fact, the woman had yelled that out loud only out of courtesy; she didn't expect him to actually snap out of it. After all, the spell was extremely addicting, and not many were able to have enough will to resist it.

It was a high-tier healing magic, 'High Heal', that she had cast on him.
"Thank you, er..."
"Vila. My name's Vila."
"... that's quite the beautiful name."
A tinge of redness appeared on her cheeks, although it disappeared almost immediately.
"Thank you. If there's nothing, I shall go and tell your goddess to stop breaking apart my clinic."
She turned on her heel and immediately walked out.
Zilo sank back into the bed. The healing had taken out a chunk of his stamina.
'But hot damn, she was gorgeous...'
Vila was quite the beauty; in fact, she was beautiful enough to bring danger to her Order. Once, their party had been attacked, and if not for the timely interval of a nearby ally, they would have been wiped out. She had been tossed out of he Order then, not allowed to take part in dungeon raids anymore. She was only allowed to take part in business in the name of her Order.
She belonged to the Lieta Order. Lieta was the goddess of business; she never did anything that wasn't beneficial to her.
Because of this, her decisions were quite shrewd, quickly making her one of the top 10 Orders.
Yet, many within her Order were dissatisfied, but they could do nothing about it.
No one had expected this small, insignificant meeting to be the beginning of the downfall of a top-level Order...
His goddess fell into his arms, tears staining Zilo's shirt.
"I'm alright, goddess, I'm alright..."
"Waah! You... You were just lying there... all red... and... waah!"
"It's alright now, goddess... I was surrounded right at the beginning, else I would have run away... but now it's alright..."
"Waah!"
She calmed down later, although there were the occasional sniffs.
"... Now that you're all better, I should Update you!"
…Oh, right. He had totally forgotten about it.
"Um, sure. Mind if I get a bite to eat first?"
"Go ahead!"
Somehow, getting a bite had turned into a date. Thankfully, he slipped out of it fast enough by mentioning how long he was out.
"About 7... 8 hours, I guess. Judging from how you were still somewhat awake when we broke down the floor lock."
"Huh. I totally thought it'd take me a few days to wake up, if I ever did."

"D-don't talk about you dying!"
"...I mean, I'm Dungeon Diving, so it's kinda obvious..."
"Still!"
"...Fine."
Once they returned to their base, which was a modest villa a few kilometers from the Dungeon, he was immediately ushered into his bedroom by his enthusiastic goddess.
"Uh... Goddess Silvia, is it necessary to be so pushy?"
"Yes! Or you take ages with your laziness!"
Oof. That hurt him badly.
'Hah... that personality must be why she got her domain... or maybe her domain made her personality like that?'
Her domain was 'Satisfaction'. Simply put, it was anything that made people happy.
For example, anything that relieved boredom. Or any food item that was enjoyable. Or simply a beautiful family.
It was one of the rare major domains, although it was still marked as a Minor Domain.
Not that he cared much yet. After all, she was quite far from having a Domain Upgrade.
She quickly initiated the Update.
Characters only Gods could understand floated around him, and he felt the occasional searing pain of extreme comfort. A few minutes later, she ended the Update and quietly turned around and imprinted it onto a piece of paper in a way he could read.
Her silence unnerved him.
"...Something wrong?" He probed, his voice tentative.
"..."
Still more silence.
"...Hey, you're scaring me now."
She simply turned and handed him his paper, sitting quietly on a chair in front of him.
He read the paper.

'…Oh, fuck.'
Zilo's eyes went wide as he read the whole sheet.
'Is this really the stat sheet of a Level 7? And how did I climb that high?'
"... There was more in there, but I'm not showing it to you yet."
That got Zilo bewildered. She had never acted this serious before. And she had never hidden anything important from them.
"Why?" He probed.
"... Because the you now can't handle it. The moment you use it, you die."
He gulped. "Well. I guess... I get it? Better not to know suicide techniques."
"...And there's one more that can be misused in the wrong situation, so I'm not going to show it to you till I confirm your personality."
"Huh?" Zilo was honestly confused. "For real? I'm a member of your Order, you know? Why the hell don't you trust me?"
She had a slightly despairing look on her face. "I want to trust you too, believe me - just... this skill is powerful enough to wipe out Gods if they don't expect it. And you have only joined us for a month. And I have to see how you react to being stronger than two other members, possibly all of them. There's a lot I need to confirm."
"... Sigh."
He understood. She couldn't know what would happen if he let the power get to his head. She was worried for herself, for other Gods and Goddesses, and for me, too.
I sighed hard again. "Fine. But only one week. Please. I'm too curious, and I'm smart enough to figure out my skill without you telling me, so ay longer and I'd hold a grudge."
"Sure." She smiled brightly, and I truly appreciated the fact that she was a goddess.
'She's so damn pure and beautiful.'

Toothpick
“Hello! My humble audience! I, the Bard of the North, am going to tell you a tale. Nothing new, nothing old. A story of a hero, some may say, others a poor boy who was hated by the world.” The storyteller paused as he waited, right timing was everything when telling a story. Pacing… Too slow and the audience became bored then left without tossing even the smallest of coins. If he spoke too fast and rushed the story. It would leave the audience confused and having no reason to be impressed. So like any good storyteller, the Bard has to do a balancing act of sorts. Not too slow, not too fast. Just perfectly in the middle. “In a shattered country in the south, a novice princeling has the ambition to mend a torn tapestry that is his birthplace. Struggling to fend off those who would usurp the throne in an unending civil war spanning centuries. A mercenary that left only death in his wake, unable to stave off the monotony and peace of life. He looks back at the path laden with bodies, wondering if it was all worth it. Wandering souls summoned by a madman, travel away from a wasteland in a foreign land, the first alone, the others as companions. A deity, ancient in her years, waiting to be freed from a duty she no longer enjoys. For all these people and their stories, none are the hero of this tale. No, the hero is not grand, not wise, not ready.. he was punished for nothing of his doing, who was an outcast that was unloved by many, including his father.” This was always the big reveal novices use to jump off into their story. He did not start here, instead, like any good fishermen, he set the bait and waited until the fish bit before pulling. As he saw the audience's eyes focus, he then started the backstory. The harness, that stopped the listeners from having metaphorical whiplash. The foreshadowing. “But that is not where the story starts. No, not even the hero's birth. Where the story begins, is the boredom of the deity, a deity many know of. She who hunts for the impossible, the guide for those who have lost the path, the Huntress of Mallon--” A small pause, a short breath. “--All old names for a single powerful being that has roamed the grounds of this continent longer than any line of kings or queens, lords or ladies. A being of worship for many an individual…” One last breath. And he began singing the first verse.
